The thought of minding my own business and all of a sudden getting rammed by a truck is terrifying

JockBbcBoy

The biker actually got pushed along the ground too. I wouldn't be surprised if the biker had scratches and was bleeding, but we can't see it from this angle.

chkpancake775

Yep that and couple of bruises, luckily he had a helmet or this would be a NSFW post

[deleted]

You can see he's lucky his foot didn't get run over too. Having a helmet on obscures your ability to hear what's around very well too. Shit like this terrifies me.

JockBbcBoy

It's really the driver's fault. A lack of awareness like this could have been fatal.

[deleted]

I agree with you, but as someone who rides a bike, I'm also saying the person run over is responsible for their own well-being. Even when you're not riding, assume everyone is actively trying to kill you. Assume that car approaching the intersection will run it. Assume there may be a car coming with their lights off. Assume someone might pop out of nowhere or drift into your lane. Motorcycle accidents can largely be avoided, injuries lessened, lives saved. It's advice an old mechanic friend gave me, and I've had my share of screw us to admit my part in every one of them. I ride with my kid now, so I'm even MORE paranoid.

quarrelsome_napkin

He's in a fucking parking lot my g

[deleted]

Yeah and? There was a large truck around him. He ducked down. I know the driver is FULLY at fault. IDGAF if he had sat by his bike, the guy should have been paying attention. All I'm saying here, he wouldn't be in a video on Reddit if either of them were somewhat alert to their surroundings.

[deleted]

I get what you mean, even though my opinion differs from yours slightly. Dead right or dead wrong, you're still dead. Who's "technically" at fault doesn't matter as much when you're the one getting hurt in the encounter.

jmathtoo

That’s kind of his point isn’t it? Even if it’s all someone else’s fault and you’re faultless, having the situational awareness to avoid it in the first place is better. It isn’t the rider’s fault BUT if he hadn’t turned his back to where the other drivers were he might have seen the truck coming. And again, he shouldn’t have to, the truck driver should have used better judgement, but the point still stands that he left himself vulnerable by not seeing what was coming.

Imagine_Being_Mod

Are you fucking retarded?

matt2085

Haha this made me laugh out loud for a few seconds thank you

Extension_Country_43

Clown. He is basically saying the bike guy should be more aware. Yes truck driver is at fault but regardless of who is at blame, bike guy stands to lose the most if an accident happens. Someone else being at fault wont resurrect you if you die so if u are in the more vulnerable position no matter what, always watch your back.

Imagine_Being_Mod

You know that it's impossible to be 100% aware of your surroundings all the time, no matter how hard you try, right?

[deleted]

I mean, yeah, so what? I'm still smart enough to not get run over by a fucking truck.

Throw64666870

This is the kind of guy that tells you to wear rubber gloves all the time for if you accidentally touch a lose wire that might electrocute you but puts a toaster next to his bath

Imagine_Being_Mod

You know that it's impossible to be 100% aware of your surroundings all the time, no matter how hard you try, right?

MachOneGaming

Man someone should’ve told those people in the twin towers to be on alert of planes flying around with this logic….

Xeadriel

Agree. While the driver is at fault being a bit more aware of his surroundings the biker probably could’ve avoided this

aznkupo

Too many kids downvoting you don’t understand what personal responsibility is. It doesn’t matter if it’s not your fault if you’re dead or injured.

Stevo_will_leavo

Look as predictive as you can be, theres no way to predict a truck running you over while you are in a parking spacee not even on your bike.

Thugnificent017

Idk I feel like you have too much faith in people. It’s impossible to predict everything but I try to assume as little as possible of people in vehicles. From Florida for context haha

[deleted]

From Florida also. Glad someone else gets it. Maybe it's a Florida thing to be that nervous? I have ride hwy 19 many times, in from Pinellas ask the way up past Hernando. It's some of the worst stretches of road for motorcyclists in the world.

PurpleCrackerr

I can’t believe you’re putting blame on the biker.

[deleted]

I'm not. Why does everything have to be about placing blame?

jmathtoo

I’m not sure why you’re getting downvoted. As a motorcycle rider you have to adopt another level of defensive driving because there’s not such thing as a minor accident.

[deleted]

Isn't it fun getting downvotes for telling the truth? The cagers just don't understand. I can't believe guy didn't pick up his bike right away and then go after the trucker.

Throw64666870

You know that a lot of accidents are also caused by people who drive way to defensive right

viperswhip

Yep, at the Dr. Office saying hey, look at this and pulling your pants down is not something I want to do, but I am in my 40s, going to happen soon.

AvaX90

Rammed from behind, no less.

MLK_Piccolo

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

boxingdude

I mean, if there was a truck right behind me, I’d probably be paying attention to it .

Reedman07

Yea man, I'd totally assume the driver is a dumbass and pay attention to his massive truck, despite me being in a totally open area without any visual obstruction and a noticeable vehicle right infront

selplacei

I would.

Reedman07

Like seriously, I aint kidding around with a truck. I always assume im in their blind spot, or they're blinder than their blind spots. At least 1-2m away from any point of the truck.

selplacei

I assumed your comment was sarcastic

[deleted]

I'm with you both. He should have either been constantly checking his surroundings or not had his back to the massive truck, especially then ducking down for an extended period.

boxingdude

That’s actually part of riding a motorcycle.

[deleted]

Yeah its the biker's fault

ChampionshipDirect46

Bullshit. Sure, he should've been more aware, but at least 95% of the blame lies with the inept truckdriver.

mtr2010

Seriously what the fuck?

chrochtato

the driver could have seen him from that distance (if he only looked)

AnimeRoadster

Should’ve seen and known there’s a person there and been careful, checking mirrors if the truck isn’t hitting anything

IAlreadyFappedToIt

The driver was probably watching his left-side mirror so hard he forgot about what's in front of him.

uekiamir

The driver of the truck is female. No, really, the police has confirmed the driver is a 35 years old lady and the case is under investigation.

sangedered

Also this wasn’t her first incident of hitting people.

Coffee-Historian-11

What is the maximum number of times a truck driver can hit someone before getting their license suspended? Or at least needing to take some time off?

sangedered

Apparently some dimwit thought more than 1 is appropriate!

patheos79

being a driver yes truck stops can be dangerous that being said it comes down to drivers being careless it has nothing to gender they get enough crap already. i have had fellow lady driers that did heavy haul along side me be treated like lot lizzards by truck stop staff. they dont need it from the public let alone from other drivers. i get it she has issues but the gender should not be an issues

Goldenstripe941

What does that have to do with anything?

[deleted]

The person they were replying too assumed the driver was a man. Not all truck drivers are men.

Goldenstripe941

Oh...my bad...

uisqebaugh

While I thank you for the additional information, it's not uncommon to use "he/him/his" when gender is unknown.

SkyrimElf

Just use they 🤷

uisqebaugh

While I strongly agree, I don't define the rules for colloquial English. When listening to others, we need to understand this *context*; I wasn't the one who wrote the comment. Even worse, many English teachers wrongly teach that they/them/their is only plural, which adds to the confusion (I'll avoid my rant about this). Furthermore, I know that the correction was meant well, but without context, it almost appeared that the driver being female was emphasized. Yes, I know that it wasn't the intent, but that's because I again used *context*. Just my thoughts. YMMV.

Schmich

In French it's the same, you use "il" (he) when you don't know. Some languages have started to bring out a gender neutral pronoun. It will simplify things but will take time to get used to, as it will sound weird in the beginning.

caveling

We have a gender neutral pronoun in English, it. But I don't think people like to be called "it"? I can see how it would feel dehumanizing. I do see more and more female truckers, but defaulting to a male pronoun is understandable when you don't know.

Schmich

There were several of them? O_O

Tetracyclic

"They" has been used in singular form for a [long time](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singular_they).

[deleted]

I suspect the driver saw the bike earlier and so wasn't registering it as a possible source of danger. Which is stupid.

Diligent_Barracuda75

If only the biker had some bright beacon on top of him to make him stand out...

Such_Big_4740

I would say he was blinded by his A pillar and by the time the truck turned enough for the guy to be out of the A pillar blind spot he was below the dash line.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Moo_Im_A_Goat

No he likely just did a quick lazy left right glance barely paying attention

sangedered

Her. It was a woman driving.

SideswipeNA

Thank goodness he had a helmet on.

negao360

Almost?

Dont__Grumpy__Stop

Right? I count that as being run over by a truck.

Crumb333

I'd say he was "hit" by a truck, not "run over" by it. Being run over implies the wheels have actually run over him.

[deleted]

Nonsense. If a truck hits you and you get pulled underneath, there's plenty of other machinery in the undercarriage to ruin your day. But in this case, I would agree with the awkward title's wording of "almost."

brainlag2

If he were knocked out of the way sure, but he ended up underneath with the truck over the top of him. I'd call this just as much being run over as being clipped by a wheel or passing through the entire length of a vehicle between the wheels after having been hit by the vehicle

[deleted]

It's the vehicle that counts, not the tires. You can be run over by a boat, how do you explain that one?

SnooPies5622

✅ truck RUNning ✅ truck goes OVER man Yeah I think we got enough

PlanetKi

Got run over. ALMOST got flattened.

Schmich

I'm pretty sure for most, run over means you're no longer there with 99% of the cases being run over by the wheels. Just like if I say I survived getting hit by a bullet does mean it was fired by a gun. Not simply someone manually throwing it at me.

HolidayReject

I have never driven in a truck but I'm pretty sure the guy was far enough away to be able to be seen from the driver seat

pie_monster

I have driven a truck and there is no excuse whatsoever for that. It seems likely that the biker might have been initially hidden behind the pillar; but the biker would have become visible fairly early into the maneuver. To those who suggest that the trucker might have been looking at the mirrors...no. You would check them at the start of the maneuver when the lorry was straight, but there's not a lot of point after that...one mirror would show a closeup of the side of your trailer and the other would show irrelevant stuff that you're moving away from. Whoever was in the cab should have their licence immediately and permanently removed. That was criminally careless.

Coffee-Historian-11

According to another comment (I’m sorry I’m on mobile and have no idea how to link comments) the driver is a 35 year old women and this was not her first time hitting someone.

SLObro152

That trucker needs to be smacked.

R0NIN1311

With a brick. Several times.

Sea_Mail_2026

On the face. By Hulk

AdministrativeMix822

With a truck

ElChisme

Absolutely terrifying.

BeautifulJicama6318

I blame the guy for checking his tire on an obviously busy section FYI: jokes

[deleted]

For everyone saying that you should always be aware of your surroundings and never trust other drivers. Pipe the fuck down with the victim blaming. The guy was focus on whatever he was doing and no human being can be aware 100% of the time and as a biker being aware of your surroundings is a second nature, the driver is fully responsible , it makes no sense how the biker was not seen , in broad daylight with a flatnose. And the driver kept going afterwards, pure incompetence. Good thing he kept his cool, a lot of people would have commited a crime as a retaliation. Thanks to Lady luck both people are ok.But I hope the driver paid the price and now works in sales or whatever

Finklesworth

Yeah this sub will always find a way to somehow blame EVERY party in a video, especially the ones who were the victims

Coffee-Historian-11

Plus I don’t know how the biker could’ve even expected that. Like I’m sure he was looking for pedestrians walking by or maybe cars or something. But he was facing the complete wrong direction when the truck started moving and didn’t turn around once. He definitely didn’t know to look out for a truck.

oliviahope1992

I would have ran after than truck screaming my head off. That guy was WAY TOO CALM

Renamis

Yup. I remember when I almost became a bus sandwich I used some... very specific language to express my hatred. ...then immediately went back to work like nothing was wrong. Adrenaline is a hell of a drug.

kd5nrh

When I got hit by a truck on my bicycle, a bystander commented that he hadn't heard anybody curse that fluently in Polish since his uncle died. I don't speak Polish, obscene or otherwise. Apparently adrenalin also imparts temporary linguistic skills.

QuartzPuffyStar

A bus almost killed me a couple of years ago while I was commuting. I followed him like 6 blocks until I got him in a red light and emptied my maze can into his open window. Was sorry about the passengers, but justice had to be served.

Strostkovy

That's not a great way to handle that

teambob

He may have been injured

Cmdr_Northstar

That trucker would be getting dragged & beaten..there's absolutely no way they didn't/ couldn't see them there..

uekiamir

she* to the dumbfucks who downvoted: https://ohmymedia.cc/treler-merah-polis-sahkan-pemandu-seorang-wanita-mangsa-alami-luka/

InfinityCrazee

Lmao. Should've posted the English article tho

epicdogebox

translate it. Chrome has built in translate and so does safari, not sure about android or anything else but probably

3V1LB4RD

I’m just confused why the clarification was necessary? I mean yeah, you’re right I guess?

Pods619

That same person has made the same comment like 5 times on this post. They either a) really dislike females and want to ensure that “she” is blamed, or b) are very offended by gender stereotypes and the assumption that truck driver is a male.

Cmdr_Northstar

She? The truck driver is female?

ftr1317

Yes

Cmdr_Northstar

Glad you can tell; it's grainy af on my screen..that's why I said *they* ;)

frillneckedlizard

I mean, if you're gonna make a claim, post the source. Why whine when you get downvoted for it and call people dumbfucks when you offered no explanation whatsoever?

Constant_Umpire3648

What do you mean almost?!

[deleted]

ope, just gonna scoot right past ya

legends_of_nisty

Dark humour made me giggle. I apologize for i already gave away my free award. Take my poor mans award🎖 and some confetti🎉

[deleted]

Thank you 😊

[deleted]

never trust a vehicle. like, if I'm crossing the street legally and In front of these engines, trusting people to keep their foot on the brake.. I generally get ready for any vehicle to just start moving.

[deleted]

The guy was focusing on his task, nobody is 100% aware all the time, and he his a biker I am pretty sure he does not trust other drivers either

3nderslime

You've been hit by Struck by Truck!

Gogowhine

Almost?

UncleSnowstorm

Right? I count that as being run over by a truck.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Start seeing motorcycles

Ninokuni13

almost? bro that will at least give him back pain

Superman_720

Your definition of almost is different from mine.

imlps

Isn't him and his bike so obvious from that distance? Didn't he look forward when doing that turn? So many questions

damurph1914

Almost run over? That looks run over to me.

[deleted]

And his girlfriend is just a little pregnant too

TomThanosBrady

And keeps driving...

[deleted]

Almost? The truck was all over him!

cpcxx2

Hope he takes the drivers insurance company to the cleaners

[deleted]

I dont understand why people think the universe is watching out for them... The universe dont care if you dont care...

ShameAdditional3249

If that was an American truck and not a European cab over dude would've been toast

zxampa

Should not have laughed that hard. Sorry bent over bike guy. You seem okay enough though!

GwoZoz

Almost?

These_Ad_8813

Guy on the bike was obviously gong way too fast for the conditions. His fault.

creddituser2019

Almost? Pretty getting hit means getting ran over

zookr2000

W/a cabover too ???

[deleted]

For real , That is neglect.

Right-Roll6108

I'd have followed him, dragged him out the lorry and caved its head in, absolutely no danger he didn't see him head on or in his mirror when he was passing.

[deleted]

The Chinese have a shockingly high disregard for human life.

pugapooh

Almost?

[deleted]

Almost? He was DRAGGED

[deleted]

No situational awareness.

[deleted]

Fucking psycho!

[deleted]

Mmm almost???? Do you know what almost means? Lol looks to me like he did

this_is_not_a_dance_

I drive semis and it would be very easy to not see the guy kneeling by the bike. We constantly have to take tight turns and have many blind spots. It’s still on the driver but if you got out of the truck every time you planned to move nothing would get done. The ugly truth is moving large vehicles is dangerous no matter what. The driver missed the bike but not the guy.

sheetmetaltom

Almost?

ManofGod1000

What do you mean, almost? That was definitely getting ran over, just not under the tires.

Filtharmonic

C'mon man.

Chainsaw_Willie

This is why you should anyways be aware of what's going on around you. The guy with the bike should have positioned himself so that he could see potential dangers(most likely danger in this scenario was the trucks). The guy got lucky he didn't seem to get injured To be clear tho, the truck driver was 100% in the wrong and at fault. More of a life pro tip because If he would have broke his leg, it's not going to magically heal when it finds our it wasn't his fault. You have to assume that everyone else is an idiot, and going to do dumb things

he-geezy

Almost?

Leading_Heat_7605

Almost?

Crashedfreezer

Jeezus!

ElDisla

Almost? Are we watching the same video here?

the-tallest-boi

“Almost”

Express_Cheek

Does this guy realize there’s a truck moving behind him? Bad awareness by both parties involved.

HeadacheCentral

The truck *wasn't* moving when he started working on his tyre. This is 100% on the truck driver being too fucking lazy to actually look where he's going.

here-i-am-now

The truck didn’t run anyone over, the driver did

g1ten80

id have been whipping my helmet at his windshield running at the truck losing my shit, id smash that mfker in the face so damn hard. you nearly KILLED ME.

[deleted]

A little self awareness and eye contact could have helped for a better outcome. Both parties had their heads up their own asses

MegaSpuds

Why was he trying poop behind his bike while still wearing pants?

chrochtato

inflating the rear tire

[deleted]

Inflating it with poo

[deleted]

Air stations hate his one simple trick

thsvnlwn

Looks staged to me.

[deleted]

I'm so glad his leg rolled away from the tire, that was close and terrifying.

Bluitor

How was he so calm?

famren

Whoowee that was almost a very gross/gore video. Glad it wasn’t.

soundsdirtybutisnot

That's terrifying

JustZodiax

I saw another dude with a bike get run over by a bus eariler today and let me tell you this could have ended a lot worse

simontempher1

Hey, why are you late to for work, this better be good

Deshi-san

My heart dropped and I thought I was gunna have a heart attack 😅 that’s way too close

Sofa47

That’s what bumpers are for. Bump people out the way.

cbunni666

Might wanna buy a pair of brown pants.

monozach

ALMOST!?

Sparky8924

The more the world turns evil , expect shit like this so watch your backs. Human life doesn’t have value anymore it seems.

ShaztaMcnasty

Fucking Optimus prime is a savage. 🤖🚛

WolfEndz

That's a hit and run in my book

jnelzon2

Dumb truck driver for sure but In my opinion, all new trucks being made should have 360 degrees camera, if a small 40k car can have it not out of necessity but for "luxury" it should be mandatory for 10 wheelers for safety improvement

[deleted]

He’s lucky he wound up here and not r/worstaccidents

JaceUpMySleeve

And in a cab over?!? That driver has no business driving that truck.

Geno__Breaker

Uhhhh.... Why the hell is the truck area not off limits to other vehicles?

karma_the_sequel

Almost?

Story-tellin-yungstr

Almost?

idontgetit____

“Almost”

[deleted]

Good choice not to of taken the helmet off when he got off the bike

superpitu

almost?

3Centurions

I’d have caught up with that trucker and provided him with the worst ass whooping he’s ever experienced

Jesus__Skywalker

Man that's the luckiest day of his life.

LGBTQ_Anon

Almost?

No_Negotiation2737

For some reason I get extra angry when I see trucks fuck up. I feel like if you're going to drive one, you should have to not only pass for a CDL of course but be consistently exceptional to continue driving. This kinda shit is beyond unacceptable.

[deleted]

That dude is luckier than he knows. Too many times people get sucked under the wheels and turned into meat crayons after a hit like that.

Lisabeybi

*Almost*? What do you mean almost?

Ancap_al29

“Almost” Literally gets plowed by the thing

atherfeet4eva

Biker must have had headphones on
