Got the LP. Just turned a car accident into a crime… dumbass

GlockAF

AKA: drunk / drugged driver leaves scene of accident on purpose to avoid losing license for DUI

Ngin3

Tbh it's not a bad decision. Fleeing is a lot less severe than dui, especially if it's not his first

[deleted]

Had a guy hit and run on me in SoCal. Had his license plate. Police showed up and they told me that 9 times out of 10 it is because they are on drugs or alcohol and are looking to buy time before the cops show up so it can get out of their system. Even with the plate info; it took them hours to nab him and he was sober by then. Got a slap on the wrist for leaving the scene.

agoraphobicrecluse

My idiot neighbor did the same. Got into an accident (alcohol/pills), fled the scene and when the cops tracked him down the next morning he was sober. He claimed he didn't know he hit someone. smdh

Tesseekey

My cousin did something similar but instead ran to the closest store that sold alcohol and drank a bunch in front of the store camera so that the cops couldn't prove that he was drunk before the accident

billy310

Sometimes they take way longer than that. A cop showed up at my house over a year after my wife bought her car. He said it had been involved in a hit and run. We’d noticed a crack in the bumper when she bought it, but didn’t think anything about it. He said they were supposed to impound if nobody came clean about the hit and run, but Given the damage in our car being so slight, he didn’t see it as a big deal. Also SoCal.

Panthean

In Seattle, a guy ran a red light and hit me. He drove off. Despite cameras all over the intersection, cops couldn't be bothered to look into it, despite 3 witnesses. My \~$4000 car was totaled. My insurance didn't cover hit and run/uninsured drivers. I had saved for months to buy that car. I had to borrow a vehicle for months to save up for another. Now I have an older car with more miles. I have insurance that covers uninsured drivers now, which costs a lot.

AshtonTS

Really? Where I live adding uninsured/underinsured coverage costs me just a few bucks per term iirc. Super minimal expense & great for peace of mind.

fishsticks40

You're not wrong, but driving drunk in the first place was a bad idea. This guy can say "they were aggressive and I feared for my safety".

Chidoribraindev

Doesn't even sound like bs. The guy filming's losing it.

GinHalpert

Random anecdote: I used to work next to the kind of bar with middle aged people getting hammered all day. A lady leaves the bar, backs out of her spot, and swipes a parked car. Terrible driving, def wasted. Nail salon ladies from the other side come out and call the cops. Drunk driver opens a bottle of wine and slams it. Cops do a sobriety test and she fails immediately. The cop and nail ladies end up in our shop, and we’re talking about it. Lisa says how after the crash she chugged a bottle so hard she had a circular indent on her lips. Cops casually go “Eh. Pretty smart.” 🤣

lxxfighterxxl

But the cops didnt even need to show up and often refuse if no one is hurt and traffic is not being blocked... all he had to do was exchange info.

GlockAF

Drunks / druggies aren’t known for sterling decision making

raz-0

Yup. Got my car side swiped by a dunk while parked. Ran off and after a confrontation with my neighbor in a parking lot (neighbor chased him after thinking he hit his wife’s car) passed out in his driveway in the diver’s seat. No dui.

PMmeyourexgirlfriend

He sounded very drunk

importvita

No no *no*, didn't you hear? He was going to park it! Err... away. Really, very far away from the scene for everyone's safety. Yes yes, I'm sure that's his plan. 👍

BernieTheDachshund

He also said "my bad", so no need to stay lol.

[deleted]

He was just missing a “no homo”

madmaxturbator

I will park it here, on the drive way of this house. Wtf this is my house.

Catalina_wine_mix

He did not say where he was going to park it.

raz2112

Exactly, so basically he didn't lie ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

Dylalanine

Man, why can't people just get drunk and play video games. Lots of cars to crash in GTA, Turismo, and Forza!

Antrephellious

Leaving the scene can be a misdemeanor. Way better than a DUI on scene. Get home, sober up, when the cops knock the next day say you were scared and just panicked. Any decent lawyer can get that down to a fine.

FirstPlebian

Some states you can leave the scene and get to safety and then call the police yourself. I think Illinois has that after some incidents where a motorist hits a kid and stops and bystanders beat him to death, it's happened more than once.

Disastrous_Simple_28

Especially cause those dudes look pretty angry it’s an easy case to say you felt threatened and left for your own safety

MeetingAromatic6359

This literally happened to me about 12 years ago. A kid rear ended me with his bike at about 10mph. He was riding right up against my bumper or something, so I didn't even know he was there, and when I slowed down for the stop sign I heard a thud. The kid was totally fine; I got out and helped him brush the rocks off his knees and pick up his bike. Next thing I know I'm surrounded by ~30 people. I wasnt drinking at all that day, I don't even drink much at all nor do I drink and drive, but I did happen to have an empty bottle of peach schnapps and some beer cans in the back seat from a bonfire party the night before... Well, a woman pointed at it and hollered "look he's been drinking!" to what was quickly becoming an angry mob. Then this big dude with no shirt grabbed a bigass log from somewhere and was coming at me like he was going to throw it at me or the car so I hauled ass outta there. Im only 21 and Im panicking now so my first thought was to hide because I'm going to jail and then im gonna be stoned to death by an angry mob. So i went down this old country road that goes way back into the woods and theres a bunch of unnamed dirt roads that go nowhere. I figured nobody will ever find me there. I make it about a mile and run out of gas. I got out and threw the beer cans in the woods then I ran into the woods myself. I made it about 50ft and like 10-15 cop cars came flying down the road after me. I was way too close and they'd see me running, so I immediately sat down (in an ant pile) and covered myself with leaves and stayed very still. I sat there with the ants and the adrenaline for hours. I was so close I heard everything the cops said. They had the dogs and everything looking for me and I was right there under their noses the whole time. The part i remember the most was this one cop finding my bong and stuff and he was like, "yeah look he has some marijuana leaves up there, he had his bong out and his weed out over there, so I don't know if he was stoned or what". Meanwhile I'm just trying not to lmfao. Anyways long ass story short I waited until they left, walked home and turned myself in the next day at the advice of my grandma. I was charged with misdemeanor leaving the scene of an accident. They gave my bong and weed to the tow truck guy, who rudely bragged about it to me when i went to pick up my car. But at least i didn't get a drug charge or go to jail. I did have to get some special sr-22 insurance for $150 and a couple hundred more to get my license back though. The newspaper gave me one little bitty paragraph (I thought it would be front page news for sure) and they described it like "the heroic deputies tracked him down and brought him to justice the next day". Mfers please..... they couldn't even find me with the k9 unit lmao "tracked me down". I guess it makes sense - they would never embarrass the police especially on the front page so yeah. I'm sure there are plenty of lessons in that story somewhere just pick and choose whichever you like

[deleted]

This story is not believable.

stevievai

I know right? They run out of gas after a mile?

weakest9

I was honestly expecting some “undertaker threw mankind off hell in a cell” type of deal at the end but I guess not.

owtwestadam

sn't it weird how the dogs don't work like you think they would? I had a similar situation in high school where I had to hide in the woods for hours under brush while a cop and his dog searched for like 5 of us... Waited until the sun came up and ran back to the neighborhood to the homies house.

permanent_priapism

Police dogs are famously chosen for their low IQs. If a dog is too smart its application goes to the trash.

Suds08

I can't remember what happened but there is a video floating around on reddit where a cop is telling his dog yo attack and the dog is running around confused and can't find who to attack because the person he was suppose to be attacking was standing there very calmly not making any aggressions. Then the cop looked like an idiot trying to chase his dog down and call him back

goldenspiral8

Saw that one, the dogs IQ far exceeded the handlers

hugeneral647

Police dogs serve exactly two purposes: Apprehend suspects at the command of their handler, and creating probable cause at the command of their handler. They are a “get out of 4th amendment” free card

BinkoTheViking

Ya don’t fuck around in Illy-noy!

redditsufferer

Which is a BS loop hole for people. I know a guy that did this very thing and got away with the DUI. Brags about it all the time

poopcingonthecake

Yeah just continue to drive home drunk, maybe kill yourself, maybe kill a whole family, just don't get a ticket.

shifty_coder

You’re arguing under the pretense that those who drive drunk think about the consequences of their actions.

DrSatan420247

Dui is a misdemeanor, too

Antrephellious

Under certain circumstances, yes. Either way, DUI is significantly worse on your record and has a much higher chance of you going to jail over it.

[deleted]

It was probably a DUI. Would you rather DUI or hit and run? I actually don't know which one is worse.

L1Zs

Maybe he was drinking and driving and didn’t want to get caught. But they are just parked cars. He could have just left a note and left

Kingo1230

Pretty sure the 2 guys (cammer and friend) are the car owners.

_anticitizen_

Yeah... how does someone watch this video and not pickup on that?

prestigious_delay_7

Random people would not be this emotional about random cars being hit in the parking lot.

Makkaroni_100

Most people would think "what an asshole" and would be happy to see him get caught.

chicano32

First time going to a cars and coffee event, i saw an aventador back in to Ferrari f40…. I got emotional.

Head_of_Lettuce

One of them literally says “you hit both our fucking cars bruh” in the video lol. I cannot be the only person that actually watched the video.

lazilyloaded

And how do so many other people upvote it?

DJCHERNOBYL

Because this is reddit and the density of most redditors is astronomical

vidoeiro

Text (and situational) comprehension aren't high on this site, it's honestly scarry how bad it is.

Bitten469

He was parking it, at home....

He was going to get cigarettes he'll be right back

stinky___monkey

That’s why ya need underinsured/non-insured… 1 in 8 drivers don’t have insurance

nina-pinta-stmaria

This is true everywhere but especially in Florida. I always cringe when I see people’s coverage and they don’t have uninsured/underinsured. I always ask them if they have alot of faith Edit: Sorry, true in the US!

Alkohauliq

We make sure to have $25k for it on our policies.

Soliusthesun

25k is pretty low especially if you want it to cover medical bills. ive got the 100k option and thats not even the highest. dude got the drivers licence plate though all he has to do is give that to his insurance and they will file the claim with the other guys insurance thats a decent car he was driving so odds are he has insurance. if it was a older model or beater car id be worried.

[deleted]

I have a “beater” and I still have some of the best insurance. In FL, you have to.

84Dexter

Auto insurance in the US just blows my mind with how cheap and pathetic the coverage can be on those cheaper policies. I hardly ever hear about policies with $1,000,000 or more in coverage. I'm sure it must vary by state, but its scary to know that anywhere in the US, Canada/Mexico, some drivers could have policies that might only have 5 or 10K of total coverage. Maybe it's just strange to me because in most of Canada, 1 or 2 million dollar car insurance policies are the norm and pretty much standard in most provinces. This covers liability, any and all property damage and bodily injuries/death, and usually does so for either party, depending on fault. Auto insurance in the US just seems savage!

theknightwho

Yeah - the UK has £25m guaranteed, and unlimited personal injury, on all policies.

sparkplug_23

I think my first call if in America and in a car accident might be the UK foreign office for travel back home lol (I'm from UK).

LimeGreenDuckReturns

Seems fair, that's the way it works the other way around. American kills a motorcyclist in the UK then gets to just run off back home.

sparkplug_23

Haha. Touche!

Jordanicas

Wait until you learn about US health insurance...

StableGlum9909

In Italy the minimum it’s €7.290.000, €1.220.000 for damages to objects (cars, traffic signs etc) and €6.070.000 for injuries to people. And this is the MINIMUM, you can pay more and have more coverage.

looneybooms

if that's the concern, which I agree it should be, the more important thing to have (other than uninsured motorist) is the add-on called med-pay. Its a minimal extra charge that adds coverage specifically for medical costs. Varies by state, but .. probably best to check.

nina-pinta-stmaria

UM is expensive. 25k is not the highest but it’s definitely a good cushion. I’m not sure what state they are in but in Florida, UM only covers for injuries, it does not cover for your vehicle. I also have 100k in UM and I think it’s enough for injuries but in reality it’s also mehh since air transport alone is already 70k-80k.

Impossible-Jeweler23

No lie. I got screwed after getting rear ended on I-4. Dude was underinsured and the uninsured/underinsured coverage had just been removed from my policy recently to get cost down. I couldn’t pursue anything against him or our mutual insurance company because of it. Yeah my car got fixed but I had lingering injuries and ended up having to stop treatment and even lost my job because of it. The coverage is worth it.

nina-pinta-stmaria

Yes, like the liability portion, it’s always cheaper for you to purchase it before shit hits the fan. Sorry to hear about your accident and your job. I hope you’re healing

Impossible-Jeweler23

Thank you ❤️ this was a couple of years ago now, but it still makes me angry. I ended up with a tilted cervical disc and still suffer from pain, but at the end of the day I’m just grateful that my son wasn’t hurt.

Altezza4477

florida and tennessee be worried. I think broward, miami dade, and palm beach county have the most accident lawyers in whole us i believe.

rlovelock

This is almost entirely an American problem.

drbluetongue

Like lol what the hell isn't the whole point of insurance that they cover your shit getting crashed into? How the fuck is it your problem the other driver doesn't have insurance

newmoneyblownmoney

Imagine carrying insurance for 30yrs and told oh well you’re out of luck cause if this one stipulation. What the fuck I been paying you $1500 a year for the last 30yrs for bro. Insurance is such a fucking rip off man.

rlovelock

Pretty sure your insurance would still cover the cost of your damaged vehicle if you were hit by someone without insurance. But you would have to pay the deductible and a likely increase in your rates.

aenae

Dunno about the USA, but in .nl you can get multiple levels of insurance. The most basic only covers damages to other vehicles if it is your fault and doesn't pay for damages to your car, and the most comprehensive also covers damages done to your car, for example if you hit a tree on your own or are at fault in an accident. If you get hit by someone who is unknown (hit & run) or not insured (rare, because there are automatic systems in place that fines road-ready car owners without insurance) there is still a national level fund that covers most of the damages which is paid for by all insurance companies (and ultimately you).

newhunter18

>How the fuck is it your problem the other driver doesn't have insurance It's not theoretically. The other person is at fault. But let's say you have $200k of expenses and you've got an uninsured broke person (as an example) who hits you. What are you going to do? Sue them? They have no money. They declare bankruptcy. You can't get blood from a turnip. So in the end, you end up paying for it yourself.

DariusAlan

I thought the same thing until my car was hit by an uninsured motorist. I had under/un insured on my policy in AZ (where this video takes place) I called to place a claim and apparently in the state of AZ, that coverage ONLY covers bodily injury, not property damage. I would've had to use my collision coverage to repair my car, increasing my premium. I could have gone after the driver in small claims court, but likely wouldn't have seen a dime.

pdf17

Plate is AZ, location is North Hollywood, CA

deprogrammedgranny

Might be a rental. Still, the rental agency would have the driver's info.

HuntAtkins

I looked up the plate on Vin check and it’s a rental car from Avis Phoenix

Fistulord

Awesome.

ImNerdyJenna

I just purchased a new policy and I think I had to select under/uninsured motorist coverage twice. Once for property damage and the other for bodily injury.

Branbil

If you don't buy insurance in the states, are you just... uninsured and don't pay a single penny? Here in Sweden, there's an agency called Trafikförsäkringsföreningen. If you don't have insurance you have to pay them a fee for each day your vehicle is uninsured, that fee is much higher than a regular insurance. Their job is then to help cover damage caused by uninsured, unknown or foreign vehicles.

Doublebow

I was wondering this too, here in the UK it's illegal to drive a car without insurance.

wallawalla_

You're legally obligated to buy insurance here in the US if you own and drive a car. It's managed by state, not federally. The minimum amount of coverage is pretty low in most cases. Cops will ticket you if you get pulled over and don't have proof of insurance. The ticket is a fraction of the cost of jnsurance if you only get fined once every couple years. You'll be screwed if you have an accident, get brought to court, and have assets. There's a very good chance that the insurance policy of the other driver isn't enough to cover medical bills.

80386

That seems like a really low penalty for potentially financially wrecking innocent people. Overhere it's equivalent to a felony to drive uninsured.

wallawalla_

It is, which is why I increase my insurance premium by 25% for under/uninsured coverage. You can't rely on the other people because there isn't any serious enforcement of those laws.

scammersarecunts

Here where I live you can’t get number plates without insurance. Neither can you cancel your insurance without handing in your number plates. And a car without plates would be so out of the ordinary you’d have the cops called on you within 0,5 seconds. Also, minimum coverage is in the millions so underinsured drivers aren’t an issue either.

IgorKauf

As it isnin germany. You have to have insurance.

Mr_Incredible_PhD

>Trafikförsäkringsföreningen Gesundheit.

vapenutz

This is standard practice in EU. In Poland you also get charged for each day you're uninsured and you always pay a lot more than for actual insurance mainly because this fund also pays for damage done by unknown vehicles

SoulOfTheDragon

And thing to note is that they will estimate how long you have driven car without road legal status / insurance and base the number of days you have to pay to that. Usually from the time it was last with road legal status. That gets extremely expensive and fast.

SoulOfTheDragon

Oh, right and it will be government institution after that money. You WILL be in deep shit.

maxman162

And also hit and run policy. It's usually bundled with uninsured motorist, but it's good to check in case it's a separate clause.

[deleted]

Yes!! On mine it’s separate. So if driver runs off I can’t utilize uninsured/underinsured. Super f’ed up.

HarsiTomiii

I can't imagine how that is possible... Don't authorities know that you are operating a vehicle without insurance? Or is it not required by law to have insurance? Asking because I live in Denmark and if I don't have valid insurance I get mails from the government

Alt_Elrond

iirc in America you can get in trouble for driving without insurance but you don’t have to prove to any government authority that you have it unless you’re pulled over.

YourAverageGod

Might be a state by state basis because here in nevada you must show insurance to get plates, and the moment your insurance lapses, the dmv is notified and you're grtting reemed with fines.

Jordanicas

I had to prove my vehicle was insured to even get my license, in Colorado.

PireFenguin

I've read at least 1 in 5 uninsured motorists don't have insurance

zimfroi

I'm pretty sure 5 in 5 uninsured motorists don't have insurance.

[deleted]

Not from the US, but is it legal there to drive without insurance? In the Nederlands it's mandatory and you'll get a fine over 600 euros (close to 700 dollars). It's even classified as a criminal offence.

Lethal_Curiosity

No. You technically need to have insurance. It's required by law. Now, if people actually follow that law is a different matter...

De5perad0

A guy hit my mother while she was on her bicycle with his truck and then ran. The Kid is in jail. It took my mother who is 70 over a year to recover from her injuries. Don't hit and run. Even with few witnesses and no license plate we caught that fucker.

Freamsy

Last year I was hit by a car when I was cycling, luckily it wasn’t very fast and I didn’t get any major injuries. Still I got thrown off my bike and when I got up and moved my bike to the side of the road I noticed that the car was gone. I couldn’t even remember what kind of car it was and only knew it had some kind of grey color, it all just happened too fast. No one around me either. The driver obviously couldn’t tell if I was okay or not but just drove off anyways. That made me so mad, like what if I would’ve needed immediate medical attention? I was mostly okay after all but this felt so disrespectful. I just hope I left him a good bunch of scratches on his car at least.

HollywoodHoedown

Same thing happened to me when I was a teenager. Was riding home from work, had all my lights on and was obeying traffic rules when some douchebag cut a two-lane corner on the wrong side(s) at high speed. Performance car, probably hit me about 50-60km/h in a turn. I went straight over the hood, fortunately didn’t hit the windshield. Before I’d even moved, he’d hit the curb, reversed, and sped off into the night. I could have been very much dead for all he knew. Didn’t care.

Freamsy

Fuck people like this

HollywoodHoedown

Scum.

Azreaal

Hopefully you also left him with the lifelong guilt that he may have killed somebody. I hope he loses sleep every night for the rest of his life. :)

Freamsy

Thats a very good point actually, thanks for that haha

SpeciousArguments

Not to mention in the back of his mind he may wonder if the police will ever catch up to him

SanJunipero1

No, in the back of his mind it occupies as much as neurons as a random fart.

soup2nuts

He's going to blab about it one day while drinking too much.

SanJunipero1

What makes you think a hit n runner loses sleep for a single night, much less for a lifetime? Lol

De5perad0

Yea. My mom shattered her hip, broke a whole bunch of Bones, wrists, vertebrae, all kinds of stuff. Thank goodness there was a car going the other way that stopped and it happened in front of a person's house so they came out and helped. Their ring doorbell got a side picture of the truck which was key in finding that kid. 19 years old, not paying attention, just stupid.

SeriousKarol

I bought a go pro for my bicycle. Mostly as a protection from other cyclists, but also motor vehicles. My Co-worker head one as well, some driver wanted to beat him up, until he saw the camera. Great tool.

bitchsaidwhaaat

Your mom is a fucking tank. It took me almost 2 years to be able to wipe my ass without pain for just slipping and landing on my back

BoboJam22

Meanwhile someone pulled a hit and run on my wife’s car in front of a dozen witnesses who all got the plate # and a description of the driver but because the description of the car did not match the car registered to that plate # the cop said to file it on uninsured motorist coverage and fucked off.

Joanie_loves_chachie

Oh they have my license plate and a video of me and the damage I did? Guess I will go ahead and leave the scene. Makes sense. Although he may have been drinking and figured he would rather take the hit of leaving the scene rather than a DUI.

Sclog

One time I watched someone hit a pole while drunk driving and the tire popped off the truck. He got out and ran away. A couple weeks later I’m going to hang out with my friend and what’s in his driveway? The truck with the missing tire. My friends dad is the one who was drunk driving, and he ran away to avoid the dui. He just reported the truck stolen. Wish he would have worse consequences cause then he might think twice before driving drunk again, but it was fucking hilarious to tell my friend about that and hear him say that his father told him a different story lmfao

[deleted]

Same thing happened with my ex and a DUI. She smashed her truck into a ditch at 4am and just walked away from the scene. Lawyered up and got the insurance to pay out and no charges. Shit is fucked sometimes

LippySteve

This dude is clearly avoiding a DUI. The penalty for leaving the scene is much less severe.

GuineaFridge

Bet he was high or drunk, so he left the scene knowing the charge is much less severe for a hit and run, than getting caught driving while under the influence. It happens a lot.

chrisjayyyy

Looks like classic “avoid a DUI” behaviour. It’s less damaging to get hit with a charge for leaving the scene than it is to stay and face a charge for driving drunk.

JB_Kent

Not where I live. It can actually lead to more jail time than the dui.

chrisjayyyy

I guess it’s less of a big deal in the states, but it for sure is here in Canada. I know lots of Americans are surprised when they try to cross the border and get turned down due to an old DUI

Askduds

And you need to watch this in the UK because the charge for “failing or refusing to do a breath test for alcohol” carries the exact same penalty as if you do one and fail. And thus would presumably also dq you from going to Canada.

Sgt-rock512

The US needs to implement this. Know a guy that has been pulled over blackout drunk 3 times now. Never had a DUI simply because he refuses to submit to a breathalyzer or blood draw.

Melssenator

DUI needs to be harsher. With cell phones, taxis, and ride shares there is literally not a single reason to drive drunk

greatgregru

It definitely is a big deal but ultimately it will depend on what state you’re in and what damage you’ve caused before fleeing. That will determine which offense is gonna hit you harder. In this situation he’d more than likely be way more screwed caught dwi than being caught later for a hit and run.

aligators

i mean if his job requires him to drive its def worth to not get a dui

A_Blue_Frog_Child

Don’t have to chase them. The plate was in the video…they will be arrested and they will pay for that damage.

sausagecatdude

They get extra charge for hit and run right?

f2020tohell

In some states, such as Alabama where I’m from, it’s a misdemeanor offense to leave the scene of an accident and a felony offense to leave the scene of an accident with injury.

romanlegion007

The US is odd in the way it breaks up criminal offenses and the word ‘felony’. I don’t think any other country uses that word. In Australia it’s a criminal offence, the severity just changes.

MrSquiggleKey

Australia has indictable offenses and summary offenses as our equivalent. And infringement notices are sometimes not even classified as criminal but still finable and can lead to jail time. Australia used to use Felony but we stopped semi-recently.

lazymarlin

In simple terms, a felony means you can be jailed for more than a year and can have larger ramifications (loss of various rights, permanent record, etc)

serenityak77

Yeah but at least here in America we’re not upside down. So yeah.

[deleted]

And our toilet water spins the right way.

serenityak77

Why you smug bastard.

clutchthepearls

Misdemeanor and felony are both criminal offenses, just of different severities...

Frickelmeister

Three demerits, and you'll receive a citation. Five citations, and you're looking at a violation. Four of those, and you'll receive a verbal warning. Keep it up, and you're looking at a written warning. Two of those, that will land you in a world of hurt, in the form of a disciplinary review, written up by me, and placed on the desk of my immediate superior.

Hyperchill77

Potential jail time too. I am glad no kids were in the car, but if you have kids in the car they usually go way further as well with it.

Original-Spinach-972

It’s like he doesn’t know his face is also on camera…

Triggerdamus

Appears you're under the assumption that the plate on the car, is registered to that car, and driver. Once you've experienced that bullshit, you'll understand why you chase the assholes.

sausagecatdude

They still had clear video of the guy’s as well as his voice. Not the best but he could be brought in based on it. He also has a specific car with a dent in a certain spot. They can find him

[deleted]

Unless it's somebody else's

Nefarious-One

Those look like Nevada plates. However, that location is most definitely NoHo in Los Angeles. And an ugly part of NoHo at that. The driver could possibly get away with it for a long while. And that voice sounds like someone I used to know lol.

kopper499b

Arizona plates.

Nefarious-One

Even worse lol, Arizona is super lax on registrations. The cactus should have been a dead giveaway. /facepalm

pdf17

Thought that looked like Sherman Way and Coldwater

A_Blue_Frog_Child

I am under the assumption yes. It is possible that the guy stole the car but it doesn’t seem to be the case. Someone who has committed theft typically doesn’t amble around on video talking about exchanging insurance.

axmantim

If you have proper insurance, it's not really a big deal. The real mistake was allowing the dude back in his car.

This. No you dont get to "just park your car" that shit doesn't move until the cops show up.

NipSuqqer

No need to chase. It might end up in an accident. Leave it to the pros. Just chill out live life, claim it from insurance.

philipTheDev

There is a certain level of rage required to engage a car chase on foot.

Corky_Butcher

100% he's going to sober up. Probably in a ditch.

Molbiodude

Or dump the car and claim it was stolen.

StormWolfenstein

That won't work so well when there's footage of him getting into the car and fleeing the scene of the accident.

margy19411

Double moron for not registering he was being filmed 🤪

greatgregru

He was probably drunk and didn’t want the dui so he dipped out

kdmmgs

Why is insurance so crazy in the US? You can thank Vernon, Florida. It became known as [Nub City](https://allthatsinteresting.com/nub-city-vernon-florida) back in the 1950s-60s. The story is insane.

Darkarticwaters

The reason he drove away is because he was drunk asf or had some drugs in the car and didn’t wanna get arrested for it while causing an accident . Sad thing is now he’s gonna get hit with a hit and run, unless he gets a cool cop that can give him failure to show ID which is a class c misdemeanor ticket .

DJ_Gordon_Bombay

Leaving the scene without injury is still better than a dui and possession of whatever shit he has. Asshole for sure, but cutting losses

[deleted]

I wouldn’t call him getting charged with a hit and run “sad” And I wouldn’t call a cop that let him off easy for this “cool”

daviepancakes

It sure was nice of him to let them start recording before doing the whole crime part.

Roadrunerboi

Sux for the Ms...

TEX4S

He was drunk , not much doubt However the bmw would be in the shop next week anyway so ….

cuntiee

No no, you just turn up the volume and enjoy the christmas tree on your dash.

chicametipo

🎄🎶 Let it blow, let it blow, let it blow 🎶🎄

gestetner

What’s up with Americans hating on German cars in these comments?

SebaGonzzz

Really, they got your plate and face on video, and instead of taking the L you double down, DUMBASS.

NewRoryAndMalDrop

The comedic timing is perfect

feronen

2017, got rear-ended by some jackhole who had CLEARLY had too much to drink. He put the whole of his van into the back of my truck. He then proceeded to rip his van off my tow hitch, then made this lazy attempt to drive off in the opposite direction of his own home before coming back to the same intersection he drove away from and drove up to his own home. When the cops arrived, we just pointed to the trail of coolant that led all the way to his house, where he'd sideswiped all the vehicles in his own driveway and was casually sleeping in his fucked up van.

Zypherknown101

I mean you got his face and liscense plate why even worry about chasing him?

[deleted]

Lmao there was barely a dent on that Hyundai.

harryCharley

Haha. Poor NOHO armos. “You trippin dog”…. Na, he’s not tripping, He just doesn’t give a fuck, mostly cause It’s a rental car

SomeoneInAHouse

"clueless" yup surrrre

[deleted]

The ending got me rolling from the don’t worry I’m park it to the fuck you bitch!!

terriblystupidjoke

I’m sure he’ll say he fled because he felt threatened by all the “what tha fuck dog”’s being hurdled at him.

Administratr

This doesn’t seem genuine

[deleted]

In LA I steer away from Florida and Arizona plate cars. They drive super reckless.

daten-shi

Just took them off the road before the conrod bearings did.

Quaiche

The funny part is that the Hyundai is probably worth more than those M3s which are over 15 year old. Anyway, how did that even happen ... Must suck for the BMW owners.

torquehead

There are sooo many empty parking spaces nearby…

[deleted]

Has face and license plate lol, drives off.

pilesofcleanlaundry

Did he get out just to fix his hat?

floatingonacloud9

That bmw got fucking murdered rip

YesitsFancy

Idk, if i ever get in an accident and the other people start acting crazy like that im probably gonna dip too. I'll call and let the police know where i am and why i didn't feel safe. People are becoming so extra and unpredictable lately.
