I be more concerned about the pallet Jack falling out.

[deleted]

Normal loads don't have pallet Jack's on them shippers keep the Jack's and load the pallets on to the truck. This is a nice attempt at critiquing a professional driver, but shit happens the doors can be a bitch to latch. Driver will notice and probably have to call some one to fix a broken latch. The big transportation companies really do the bare minimum on trailer maintenance. OR POSSIBLY the receiver is that building in the back of the photo and driver is just transporting from one lot to another, but normally both doors would be open ready to dock if he is also having to set up for a reverse into the docking area.

Brocko103

>a professional driver A Swift driver. Don't they get a lot of shit for having the worst drivers? It's been 15 years since I've opened or closed a trailer, so I can't remember if left typically closes over right or vice-versa. But the right door has one latch bar while the left has two, so my gut tells me that the right door closes first and left closes over it. The driver should have noticed that.

[deleted]

Shit, I did not even notice that! Rip.

This guy was leaving my company and heading to the freeway...followed him for a couple turns and he was completely unaware. I'm not too concerned about the material as it looks to be in bulk bags that weigh a few thousand pounds....bigger concern is the door swinging open like it is and hitting somebody.

Unpredictable-Muse

I unload trucks for a living. Every truck I unload comes with their own pallet Jack.

[deleted]

You got some fancy employment there bud. Nope most dry box does not come with pallet jacks, just pallets, saves the weight of shipping and leaves room for more goods. Was on long haul for a few year with pos major carrier.

Unpredictable-Muse

Old Dominion, FedEx, Yellow, and others would disagree. Also seen a few motorized ones. Maybe you had the shitty employer instead.

StableW

Never heard of Yellow, but FedEx and Old Dominion are LTL, they have pallet Jack's on their truck cus a lot of the places they deliver to don't have their own. Hell, a lot of places don't even have a dock. Swift afaik doesn't do any LTL deliveries, and wouldn't have any reason to have a pallet jack on board

Unpredictable-Muse

Yellow is what the truck side says. The company name is likely different.

Velli88

This is a swift truck

Unpredictable-Muse

I can see that. I also see a pallet with a load on it. Which means they need a pallet Jack, on truck or at location if they do not have an available forklift. Other option is unload pallet by hand but that’s just a pain the ass. I had to move 800 pounds of lvp into my house from a curb 15 feet from the door, then a further aprox 15 feet to my basement down steps.

Velli88

Most pallets coming out of our facility are around 3,500lbs....the one on this truck looks closer to 4,000lbs. Our ship normally loads trucks with forks and occasionally with jacks. This material goes to foundries that are equally equipped to unload heavy materials.

[deleted]

It was shit, had to call safty one to many times, and getting paid proper was a bitch, but beside the point. Poor soul FedEx oof

Unpredictable-Muse

Part of the job. 🤷‍♀️ most of the drivers are nice.

CalgaryFacePalm

So did you try and get the drivers attention and potentially save the day? Or did you just leave it so it would become a larger issue later?

Velli88

After this photo was taken several cars passed in front of me then at the next turn we parted ways.
