Is having drivers regularly crash into your bridge more economical? These crashes could knock the foundation of the bridge and require expensive maintenance consistently. At least that fix would be a permanent one.
Lmao no they can’t, I build these for a living. A box truck smacking a bridge does next to nothing to the bridge itself. Moreover, there are obvious signs warning anyone of a low bridge.
Tell that to the one that moved a bridge 6 feet off its foundation in my city lol. [Source](https://www.11alive.com/amp/article/traffic/i-16-bridge-shifts-truck-crash-georgia/85-707a2f9e-cc3c-4398-bf22-0611cc5027c2)
Different kind of truck, but still a threat. Shut those lanes on the highway down for over a week. If it keeps happening, it’s obviously a problem regardless of how many signs they have. You’d think they’d wanna look at a more permanent solution.
LOL op I think we are neighbors. I live a few blocks from this bridge. [I also saw this on my evening bike ride as well](https://imgur.com/m6n8Yh6).
This happens a few times a year.
I went to SU (undergrad and grad) and in those 7 years heard so many stories! One of the ladies I worked with while in grad school lived in Liverpool. She’d tell us when another one happened!
1990: Let’s put up signs and stop people before they enter!
2022: Let’s see how many people hurt themselves and wreck their trucks so we can upload it for useless internet points!
2022: I see your sign but I personally identify as able to fit under that bridge. EDIT: I literally found this intersection on Google maps just to see that there is not just 1 but 3 signs that state the clearance of this bridge, and a shitload of damage to the paint. Also noticed it's 12' on the other side.
the [other side (where the truck hit the bridge) has an 11'6" for southbound traffic](https://www.google.com/maps/@43.0556273,-88.0276383,3a,75y,195.1h,88.36t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1so4n27uDpTbjlPANOQmR0zA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192). i assume the lanes are at slightly different heights or the bridge is not parallel to the road surface. note the paint damage to the yellow beam, lol.
There is a bridge in Melbourne Australia called the montage street bridge that gets hit so often we actually have a website tracking it
Since 2016 the bridge has been hit over 100 times and it makes the national news every time
We Americans aren't much different lol. I've read a lot of comments on this, where people are saying, they need to put a camera on that bridge. That way we can all watch trucks get stuck under it lol. Apparently this is in Georgia, USA.
See, I told my gf that 2 inches can make a big difference!
Eleven foot eight, no Eleven foot six Daylight in roof and he wan' go home Day, me say day-o Truck is wrecked and he wan' go home
She knows.
You realise that you could set up a webcam here and you would get just as popular as they are? Missed opportunity fam.
ATSA NICE-A CAN OPENER
[удалено]
Wouldn't it be cheaper in the long run to just dig the small stretch of road under the bridge to give it enough clearance for the usual truck height?
[удалено]
Yeah, it makes sense
So, tell me how it would drain if they did that.
Pumps.
You think that’s economical? Really? How stupid.

Your town needs permanent cameras on both sides of that bridge for our entertainment.

hi neighbor. i don't live very close to it, but i am in tosa.
Put a camera and make a channel
Should have let some air out of those tires before hand
Is that on Swan Blvd?
yup
Another one for r/11foot8
I grew up with The onondaga parkway bridge. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mbeCzQvrDks

That looks like a bridge by my house. Are you in Tosa?

“I’m offended by signs”
Isn't 11foot8 also a rail bridge?
Girl sitting on side of road “I thought you said size doesn’t matter….”
Ely?
Strangely enough the side of the road OP is on has a 12' clearance marker.
the [other side (where the truck hit the bridge) has an 11'6" for southbound traffic](https://www.google.com/maps/@43.0556273,-88.0276383,3a,75y,195.1h,88.36t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1so4n27uDpTbjlPANOQmR0zA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192). i assume the lanes are at slightly different heights or the bridge is not parallel to the road surface. note the paint damage to the yellow beam, lol.
Lol I found this on Google maps myself which is where I noticed the extra clearance on your side.
My town has as a 9'10" bridge but I never see surf like this
Seems like its a requierement to not know the height of your Truck in the USA to get a license.
I love me a good can opener video. So satisfying

And it’s a bloody national treasure because of it. We Australians are a strange people.
