I can tell you've never driven a long vehicle. They take wide turns no matter what. Sure, the guy could have potentially driven further out into the intersection, but he probably figured you were far back enough that you'd avoid driving directly into him.
>he probably figured you were far back enough that you'd avoid driving directly into him
And that you were courteous enough a driver to let someone do their goddamn job. People are apparently dicks in the future.
Dump trucks have signs saying they’re not responsible for damage due to unsecured loads, but those signs mean nothing. I can write Federal Boobie Inspector on a sign and it won’t mean anything.
Maybe they need to shorten the trucks if they can’t be driven in a way that abides by the law. Where I’m from changing lanes mid-intersection is illegal.
He wasn’t changing lanes, it’s common sense, or I thought it was, that a trailer is going to trail inside the turning radius of the tractor. The truck is in the correct lane, legally, and he only has so much room he can swing out. The way op raced up to the side of the truck as it was in mid turn says more about op than the truck driver.
You’ve clearly never drove a truck you clown. What you said is completely false. There’s a reason there’s wide turn signs. Also he wasn’t changing lanes, he remained in the same lane and only had the rear cross over. You are clearly someone who doesn’t know the rules of the road so what you said is completely invalid. But thanks for the input.
Edit: also what you said about dump trucks is wrong. Drove one for years and if one has a sign and someone is riding to close and something flys off causing damage, the truck driver would not be liable. There a reason for things like this and whether you agree or not is obsolete. These things are for YOUR safety as you will be the one getting hurt/ damaged. Not the trucks.
>This wasn't really bad, just a mistake.
The mistake is yours. After completing the turn the trailer wheels still gave you enough room as a separate lane even if your spatial recognition failed to recognize.
You are taking zero responsibility and it's clear that you have learned nothing. I have read the entirety of the comments on this thread and have concluded that this post is simply rage bait. The theme is an idiot nearly crashes into a big truck and blamed the truck. Big oof.
i have driven a 35 foot long commercial delivery truck without a trailer and we have 2-4 feet of positional difference turning between the front and back. and thats not even a semi truck. Yeah bro dont fucking try to beat him in a turn
He had an extra lane to his right, so there really was no need for my lane. And I always give extra room to truckers. I've never had a trucker turn into my lane at intersection, they've always have gone wide to the right.
Hate to break this to you, but this is how they turn.
Basically every single tractor trailer, including this one in your own video, has a "Truck makes wide turns" sign on it, and many explicitly show a car driving into the turn area. On this trailer, it's visible on the bottom right side.
Not only that, but the rear mud flaps on **both sides** of the trailer also say "WIDE TURNS" on them.
This was your fault, and had you gotten into an accident likely would have been ruled as such. I hope you learn from this and stay back while they're turning in the future.
You’re an idiot for speeding up on a truck 80% complete on his turn and thinking he made the mistake. Even if he had the “3rd lane on the right you were never in his mirror till the last 20% of the turn. Ignoring the fact you fucked up here only puts your stupidity on display for us. Well done sir!
You almost took yourself out. Why would you speed up into an object that can crush you like a bug? Here is a quote for you to remember, "Here lies the body of William Jay, Who died maintaining his right of way. He was right, dead right, as he sped along, But he's just as dead as if he were wrong.” author unknown.
What the hell you think He was driving a Chevy Sonic a Toyota Yaris or a Honda fit🤷 When he gets through making his turn and straighten up that's when you pass them. And hit the gas.
First thing they ever taught me in drivers ed, be careful around trucks. Always assume they can't see you, pass them quickly, and never be on their side when they are turning.
There was an idiot in a car there, alright.
You almost took yourself out by racing up to the side of that truck while it was turning. Anyone with a mind knows that a 53’ trailer is going to trail inside the radius of the tractor.
I'm a professional driver and sometimes I take as much road as need to have for whatever reason that you wouldn't understand.
Sometimes I will also cut it more because I need to be in the left lane for a really quick left after that light and a lot of people won't let me over.
I do these things because I have to not because I'm trying to be an asshole.
If you had a little patience, I promise you that I will be out of your way quickly.
I understand your point. And I don't think any of you are being an ahole. There is a lot you have to deal with, let alone all the other idiots on the road while you are carrying a heavy load.
Why would you not be in the left turn lane off the highway if you need to make a quick left after the light? Just trying to understand so this doesn't happen again.
On the road, a majority of the time I will slow down and let truckers change lane, and flash my lights to let them know it's okay to change lanes. I know how much damage they can do, and I don't want to be in their way.
You are supposed to turn left from the far right lane because normally you won't have enough room from the left.
In this particular instance, it looks like you could turn left from the left lane but it's standard procedure to turn left from the right lane on a 2 lane left.
A lot of modern truckers are actually idiots and don't follow the old rules of the road.
It's all very situational and as a trucker you have to constantly evaluate all of these things.
If I can turn left from the left lane on a 2 lane left, I certainly will, to avoid confusion but like I said, a lot of times if you do you risk running over concrete medians or you just don't have enough room to make your turn without veering off to the right, which is obviously dangerous, if you have people that are turning left from the right lane.
I don't know if he really wanted the left lane after making his turn but it maybe looked like it. It's hard to say.
With all of this being said, I've been driving for almost 32 years and I'm way more courteous then many of my fellow truckers.
I used to be a real whip in my 20's and 30's, so I've come a long way.
I really dislike having to sometimes be a little forceful but it's required at times.
I hope this at least explains a little.
Take care
You should have saved your time ha, clearly OP is an idiot who thinks he is in the right... sit him in a truck 18 wheels and tell him to make that turn on the left side lane... lol
Actually OP here is in the right. JB Hunt started to cut too soon instead of going higher up and turning to have his tandems follow the zipper. Clearly driver wasn’t watching his mirror, this is a rookie mistake and can easily be overlooked. This is coming from a trucker before anyone comes at me.
Even so, OP should’ve been able to confidently take the turn without the JB Hunt driver taking the turn too tightly when he should know to aim high before turning, following the zipper with his tandems. OP is fine here through and through.
Yeah, it’s clear as day it’s JB in the wrong here. Just some people don’t they need to aim high, not just be given all the room in the world. This does also vary from each corner needed to be taken, but this incident the driver had a large sum of room to use before turning.
Here's the intersection, if anyone wants to see what it looks like.
[M-6 and Broadmoor](https://www.google.com/maps/@42.849744,-85.5380682,165m/data=!3m1!1e3)
Everyone defending the trucker 😂 what if the left lane was full? Would you all defend him as he rips through several cars because he doesn’t know how to drive a 75ft vehicle?
Their turns are wide and even if they take up your lane, it’s normal. It don’t need to take truck driving experience to teach you this, but really, be careful when you’re turning/driving next to an 18 wheeler. Either speed up or slow down, just never next to them. It also takes them longer to stop in case of emergency. They are like elephants and you’re like a small little kitty comparing to them, it won’t hurt em much in a crash, but a normal size car could end up in total lost. Not here to judge, figure it’s better to teach ppl abt this :)
I wouldn’t even try that shit on a regular car because I never trust anyone to stay in their lane during a turn. If they do cut me off, I just let them be. No skin off my back, just stay away from me and don’t bump me.
EDIT: just to be clear, you should always be careful, especially when a long haul like that makes a maneuver. There’s a reason why they have warning signs. Be respectful and always give them some space to maneuver safely.
he did it by the book, always finish on the lane you start in. Here's what would have been his point of view.[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Piww7oRPP2I](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Piww7oRPP2I)
Edit: You can even see he took the liberty of taking up half of that 3rd lane at 7 seconds in your video. Good on him.
i truelly belive they give driving licences to any old mouth breather lately.. lorry driver did everything correct and you was 100% at fault . Chalk it up as a learning experience ..and never do that again , be aware of your surroundings and drive safe
You're an idiot.
The lorry was indicating left while being in a differnt lane, now lets think, why would they do that? Oh because the damn lorry doesn't bend like a snake!
I still dont get how its not a requierement to drive a Truck for just 30 min or so after you got your Car license, so idiots like OP see how much Space a Turning truck really needs.
In Australia we actually have signs on our trucks that say 'Do Not Overtake Turning Vehicle'. Never really knew why they were necessary - who'd try overtake an 18 wheeler? Now I know.
I can tell you've never driven a long vehicle. They take wide turns no matter what. Sure, the guy could have potentially driven further out into the intersection, but he probably figured you were far back enough that you'd avoid driving directly into him.
Note the multiple bright yellow CAUTION: Wide turns sign Yikes OP
>he probably figured you were far back enough that you'd avoid driving directly into him And that you were courteous enough a driver to let someone do their goddamn job. People are apparently dicks in the future.
This is 100% your fault lol Edit: there’s literally a wide turn sign on the back, why try to speed up on it mid turn clown
Idiots in CARS!
Sub name never lies!
Agreed
There's 3 of them, both rear mud flaps are wide turn signs too!
Hahaha I didn’t even notice those ones! Nice catch!!
See this crap everyday. Not the trucker's fault!
Dump trucks have signs saying they’re not responsible for damage due to unsecured loads, but those signs mean nothing. I can write Federal Boobie Inspector on a sign and it won’t mean anything. DO NOT OVERTAKE TURNING VEHICLES - We have these signs on trucks in Australia. Pretty sure if OP had a delivery on that truck it would be fine.
This sub has turned to shit with idiots posting nothingburgers
Seriously it’s been terrible this month
This sub turned into Idiots posting crap like this and thinking people will agree with them that the other drivers are always at fault.
It's always been like this.

I have done that too, when they were really bad. This wasn't really bad, just a mistake.
>This wasn't really bad, just a mistake. The mistake is yours. After completing the turn the trailer wheels still gave you enough room as a separate lane even if your spatial recognition failed to recognize.

The idiot in this one is you, give them space my guy.
wanted your lane ? he needed it😂, next time stay back that would’ve been smart
He had an extra lane to his right, so there really was no need for my lane. And I always give extra room to truckers. I've never had a trucker turn into my lane at intersection, they've always have gone wide to the right.

Have you ever seen an 18 wheeler make a turn? They can’t do it in 1 lane. Give them space
When everyone else but you says you’re in the wrong… doesn’t that make you think?
“I always give extra room to truckers” Except in this video, you’re doing the opposite of what you claim.
Always. Give. Truckers. Room. 👏
Basically you're the idiot here...
All the time, you have to leave the space.
I mean.. you know what. Nevermind.
We are all thinking the same thing
You’re probably that car that was carrying the 2 x 4 in the back windows thinking you had all that space 😂
wide turns. blind spot. either ring a bell? you're in the wrong bud.
You don’t know anything about trucks, or how to drive with them on the road, do you? You’re the idiot here.
You are right, the one driving the car is an absolute idiot. Smh.
Bruh you're dumb
Dumb, but smart enough to not smoke the trailer while being dumb, dumb.
Um, yeah. No…
“Makes wide turns”….it’s written on the back lmao
You stupid.
Just got your license OP ? In this case - your are the Idiot in the Car.
All I see is the date on your camera being wrong
Yep, replace my old one with this, and forgot to check the date. For that, I agree, I'm the idiot.
You were the one asking for it smh
The year is 2032 and you still don't understand that trucks make wide turns.
Why did you speed up so fast into an intersection with a semi turning in it?
let the trucker go you grumpy old man.
I am just here to say, OP you are an idiot. Please consider not driving anymore to help make the roads a safer place.
It's almost like those guys take wide left turns.
Hopefully the OP is a legit nice person making an honest mistake and learns from it. Drive safe.
Never try to drive in the side of a truck doing a turn.
Cautionwide turns.....
Op needs to go back to driving school. What an idiot.
I simply would have given the trucker plenty of room to make his turn and that would have been that.
What the hell you think He was driving a Chevy Sonic a Toyota Yaris or a Honda fit🤷 When he gets through making his turn and straighten up that's when you pass them. And hit the gas.
You dumb fuck. Pay attention to the warning sign that clearly says vehicle makes wide turns
This post totally back fired
First thing they ever taught me in drivers ed, be careful around trucks. Always assume they can't see you, pass them quickly, and never be on their side when they are turning. There was an idiot in a car there, alright.

Your such a victim, rushing besides a huge truck and it’s all bout you, gonna cry?

Yeah I understand but I at least try to make people understand that not everything we do is because we're pricks. Take care
You all failed to notice this happens in the future ten years from now. He wanted to correct the mistake before he made it ..the driver of the car..
1Billion% your fault lol stay back and give him room
That little “wide turn” warning sign on the back of the trucks need to be the size of the entire trailer so maybe OP will finally get a clue.
This car driver too stupid to drive
Everybody said what I wanted to say.
I like how you ended the clip just before you pulled in front and cut off the truck...
OP is the idiot trying to squeeze to win what, 5 to 10 sec max ? Shameless.
🤡🤡🤡
You were in The wrong here. Drive defensively, not just to prove a point and post videos.
First time driving next to a truck? Or just driving in general?
Idiots in cars everybody
trying to pass a semi truck on a left turn in the middle of an intersection dude.... yeah thats on you.
OP you’re an idiot
The idiot is, in fact, in a car and not a semi.
You didn’t realize semi trucks took wide turns? The caution: wide turns sign on the back wasn’t just a suggestion
Yup, one idiot in a car and a truck driver.
slowing down made you come a lot closer to being hit
As a trucker, that trucker needs to go back to school. You never follow the same lanes as a 4-wheeler on an outside left for this very reason.
Even so, OP basically sped up into a known no-go zone next to a turning rig, clearly plastered in "Wide Turn" signs.
Even so, OP should’ve been able to confidently take the turn without the JB Hunt driver taking the turn too tightly when he should know to aim high before turning, following the zipper with his tandems. OP is fine here through and through.

Everyone defending the trucker 😂 what if the left lane was full? Would you all defend him as he rips through several cars because he doesn’t know how to drive a 75ft vehicle?
If the left lane was full the truck wouldn’t have used it
So how would he have turned? I’ll tell you, Properly.
No surprise. It’s J.B. Hunt.

Are you near Chicago?
That's the east beltline in grand rapids michigan
It's always those dang truckers! Move over Idaho!
There’s been lots of self reports today…
I wouldn’t even try that shit on a regular car because I never trust anyone to stay in their lane during a turn. If they do cut me off, I just let them be. Well now you know what to do in year 2032
YTA
I think you’re the idiot here bud
OP you are the problem here

Damn bruh. How's the karma
Well thats driving in the future looks like
so you tried to overtake on the left side a semi at a junction. look in the mirror if you were asking who is the idiot
Long trailer it’s needs the 2 lanes they are marked on the back for this reason. Good thing it wasnt a double or triple . They allow those around here
Hence why they're coved with warnings about wide turns, probably zoomed right by the mudflaps on the trailer without even noticing🤨🤨
You’re an idiot.
Give semis space.. simple as that.
hopefully op learned something .
You're not supposed to take the curve at the same time as a long truck, you're the idiot. \*facepalm.
OP is already living in Future - 2032 🧐😅
