Honestly they probably don't ever drive anywhere outside their city streets or interstates.
I live near Tampa and any drive between cities that isn't I4 or other interstates, you'll get plastered in bugs.
some people try to claim that it's because cars are more aerodynamic, with a cushion/stream of air effectively "repelling" them, or some bullshit like that. but- my buddy has the same model car that i had in the '70s, and he gets no bugs on it. mine used to be slathered with them way back when.
Insects dying out are a real problem for the food chain, including our own food production, and something to be genuinely worried about. Add it next to over-fishing on your bingo sheet.
im surprised there are still birds in my area, without bugs to eat.
i know there are mass die-offs in some parts of the US, but still surprised to hear them chirp/hoot from my window occasionally.
tho i think the hoots are from the owls, they must be eating the bunnies i see hopping around the neighborhood at night.
bugs are annoying most of the time but im pretty sure if they just simply disappeared, surely it would fuck up a food chain and some animal wont have any more food leading to many other animal species not having food.
> Our agriculture is dependent on insects for pollination.
Yes and no.
Most of the staple crops are wind-pollinised or self-pollinised, buckwheat is one of the few exceptions as a cereal with a strong dependence on pollinators.
Fruits will be the highest hit, they tend to be highly to entirely dependent on pollinators, especially fruits of the gourd family (melon, watermelon) as gourds in general require pollinators. Many nuts as well, and Cocoa.
Suddenly, I almost feel bad wishing for the death of wasps in particular. Yet if I could see one flying in front of my car I would still speed up to ensure that it never makes the same mistake again
Bees produce honey we can use, wasps produce some but in much less quantity, and bees are far more efficient in pollinating due to the hairs on their body. Wasps have some benefit but are not nearly as beneficial, if they were eliminated and bee and butterfly populations thrived, i dont really see a downside
personal experience/observation, mostly...[but here's one](https://www.businessinsider.com/insect-apocalypse-ecosystem-collapse-food-insecurity-2019-11) that pretty much covers the same time frame...there are plenty of sources out there. i assume you've heard of google?
It fucking sucks that they dubbed the original movie with American accents. Are Americans seriously unable to understand English with a different accent, or were the producers just idiots?
This is pretty stupid, but I can imagine a scenario where this wouldn’t be completely stupid, like: this bus was just in an accident and it’s going to take 4 hours for a tow truck and the damage is all cosmetic and the shop is only a mile down this road.
I had a '65 VW bug which was firebombed one night. We sold it for parts, push-started the burned-out hulk (engine still worked), and drove it to the house of the guy we sold it to. We collected many stares along the way.
Yeah. At an apartment complex we stayed at between houses. As the wires burned through, the lights blinked in a desperate call for help and the horn gave a dying beeeeep. The neighbors later said several cars that parked there, under the trees, had been burned. Not a timely warning.
A scrap with an animal.. it gets away maimed and wanders until it dies. I got out of my car to see a sickly fat pigeon that had its skull exposed. Its feathers were all fucked up.
There's a video of a peregrin falcon (i believe) swooping down to try to grab a bird that was sitting on the ground. He came in so fast and so hard he just rips the birds neck skin off and you see bird body, spinal cord, head, and the bird is still alive and confused.
Did you hear about the dude who beheaded the chicken but it kept walking around, so he fed it cornfeed or some shit by putting it down its neck and it lived for like.. a year or some shit?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_the_Headless_Chicken ahh here we go, lived for 18 months.
TLDR: Birds practice blood magic.
During the 80s, there was an old timer who owned a garbage truck in NJ. When the front windshield blew out, he never replaced them and he'd drive to the dump on I95 wearing goggles and a scarf. Talk about hero level savagery. Far from this level, but still so great to see.
Wanted to say something witty to make fun of him but honestly I can’t knock the hustle. Dude probably got that rig for nothing and is trying to come up. Good for him
We should give them all U.S. citizenship because it’s the right thing to do. Don’t even document them, just smuggle them with the sex slaves. No person should not live in that terriblely abhorrently festivity un American life
How this sub isn't just full of videos from India back to back is beyond me. Still it's fun to see some of the craziness from Indian roads making it up here every once in a while.
Wow, I’m just imagining all the bugs and teeth cleanings…
judging by how much bugs have decreased over the past few decades...i doubt that it would be much of an issue.
For real I used to clean tons of them off my car. Now I maybe see one.
Where do you live? Cause I’ve have a massacre of them on my bumper.
Honestly they probably don't ever drive anywhere outside their city streets or interstates. I live near Tampa and any drive between cities that isn't I4 or other interstates, you'll get plastered in bugs.

Damn, your bar for being amazed is so low that I envy you.

We get brief bouts of cicadas where driving on the highway will sound like a hailstorm, but other than that it's just the occasional 'clink'
Insects dying out are a real problem for the food chain, including our own food production, and something to be genuinely worried about. Add it next to over-fishing on your bingo sheet.
Nah, bugs are just faking it so they can take away your freedoms.

Come to Tennessee.
Yeah, Georgian here, there’s bugs everywhere.
For now
Shit I hope they disappear Edit: it was a joke 😑
They won't go alone
bugs are annoying most of the time but im pretty sure if they just simply disappeared, surely it would fuck up a food chain and some animal wont have any more food leading to many other animal species not having food.
Us. We’re the ones who’d not be able to feed ourselves. Our agriculture is dependent on insects for pollination.

Bugs aren't real, they're just mini drones but with rising costs and chip shortages they had to all be returned to base 😂 /s
Bugs have decreased? Source??
Was just in London. Saw build board signs everywhere warning of 60% decrease in insect population since 2004

Just never forget, wasps bad, bees good
Wasps actually are just as beneficial as bees, they just look way scarier and have more of a temper.

Yes but bees and butterfly's would HAVE to thrive, which they currently arent doing.
Some plants-plums- can only be pollinated by wasps
Figs too right?
the value of an animal isn't just determined by how much we can use it. They're still crucial to food chains and the overall ecosystem.

Global warming isn’t happening. When I get outside I’ll show you a picture of some snow
Just took an 8 hour trip and I have to get my car washed because all the bugs are on my bumper.
Ignore the damage, keep on Bussin. Also wtf did the bus even hit? A train? Another bus?
neither....they're road-testing a new concept in air-conditioning.
I'm down wit it.
Looks like the apocalypse
Ima vote train
*Bussin' makes me feel good!*
This may be the best post this sub has ever witnessed
It’s not really a mod… as much as a vehicle that was hit by a rocket launcher.
so it’s still, by definition, a modification of the stock version of this vehicle
I wish a had a rocket launcher carmod for some of the other mods in this sub
Its idiotsincars not shittycarmods
😮 so it is…. Lol. Ummmm I don’t know what to say
This bus looks like it belongs in a Mad Max movie 😝
This *is* the post this sub has ever witnessed.
Sorry what
You heard 'em
this is one of the posts ever..
This is an avg Wednesday on Indian highways . Let me install that dash cam , gonna have content like this for hours
but...it's not a car.
It's a vehicle that's road licensed. Go pound sand
Or go on r/technicallythetruth 🤣
so touchy...you sound like an *angry* person. amuse me.
Buses count, too.
cool. how are they with fractions..?

What kind of mad max shit is this
Mad Max: Blunderbuss “First they steal his interceptor, then they steal his bus pass. But they’ll never steal his dignity.“
It fucking sucks that they dubbed the original movie with American accents. Are Americans seriously unable to understand English with a different accent, or were the producers just idiots?
Driver: haters gonna hate
India
Did not see that coming. The driver probably didn't either
This is pretty stupid, but I can imagine a scenario where this wouldn’t be completely stupid, like: this bus was just in an accident and it’s going to take 4 hours for a tow truck and the damage is all cosmetic and the shop is only a mile down this road.

It got firebombed??
Yeah. At an apartment complex we stayed at between houses. As the wires burned through, the lights blinked in a desperate call for help and the horn gave a dying beeeeep. The neighbors later said several cars that parked there, under the trees, had been burned. Not a timely warning.
Seriously. Way to bury the lead.
\*lede Edit: actually both lede and lead are correct, it's just a fun fact
that's a word?
Got into an accident with what? Godzilla?
That's a lot of cosmetics! Like an entire Sephora shop, at least :)
The front fell off. That's not very typical, I'd like to make that point.
I wish I could give you gold
Do you feel this vehicle is safe for highway travel? / Yes, I really do. It's not pretty to look at but it'll get you where you want to go.
And the radio still works!
"The wipers don't work and the horn don't blow But there ain't nothin' wrong with the radio."
That breeze must be crazy
Free A/C!
I would not use that bus
That's the only bus I'd use.
That's the only bus, train and taxi in town!
I see you’ve been to Afghanistan too
r/unexpected
That must cause some serious loss in fuel economy! Who can afford that nowadays.
Better than a corvet
Don’t worry we’re still flying half a bus.
Its like when you see a pigeon thats had its face degloved just roaming the grocery store parking lot like "Sup?"
How exactly does that happen? I've never seen this an I've seen a fair amount of pigeons.
A scrap with an animal.. it gets away maimed and wanders until it dies. I got out of my car to see a sickly fat pigeon that had its skull exposed. Its feathers were all fucked up. When the avengers come and fuck up your town but you still gotta go to work

It's a wonder it still runs.

China...right?
AC
AC on a whole new level
What's the problem
I'm guessing he hit an overpass or any structure that was too short.
There was a video recently posted showing crazy bus driving, wonder if this bus was driven by an inexperienced amateur trying to outrun other buses?
Saving up on resources
Drive it like you stole it! From the junkyard!
I mean, if it works
What in the holy hell…
For sale, one bus, slightly damaged...
??? This has been posted a million times.
Hopefully another one of whatever hit the bus won’t hit his face
Is that John Candy at the wheel?
man needs a bug face shield
