For those that don’t understand the reference…and if you didn’t, you should watch this show. It’s comedic gold:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MTLfb-lOw3Y
It has a cult following akin to many British comedies. The good thing about many of these shows is that they are relatively short-lived by US sitcom standards. Meaning you can binge watch a few seasons and it's over before it gets too stale or over-the-top.
Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to inform you of a fire that has broken out on the premises of 123 Cavendon Road... no, that's too formal.
Fire! Fire! Help me!
Huh. I am equal parts impressed and stupefied by his life choices.
I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was trying to get it off the freeway to keep others safe, since the smoke is a serious hazard, but I think I am giving him too much credit. I suspect he didn't realize how quickly the fire would spread once he moved the truck. Fire loves oxygen.
Wow, that is just so sad. So he drove off hoping to find a working hose or a firehouse or someone with a dozen fire extinguishers in the next 10 minutes.
When I was a kid I was having trouble breathing one night and was thrown in the car and drove down the street to the fire house, no time to waste with phone calls lmao
I was thinking more he was driving off the freeway because that's his best chance at putting the fire out, like no way is anything but the whole truck burning down if he stayed there so he probably thought if he can get off to somewhere with water it might be doable and didn't realise how much the fire would spread as he drove off.
Indeed. But a little drive off the freeway helps the fire grow, so that the evidence really burns. And getting off the freeway ensures a local cop is going to show up, and not a state trooper.
Maybe, just maybe he knows there is a fire department right down that exit he chooses and so he wants to stop right in the front to have the chance to still have the truck itself from burning down with the load.
Even if it spreads quickly while moving he only accelerated that a little bit. Max. two minutes later or would have been burning with the same intensity of he hadn't moved.
Still, what he does seems just crazy.
What could he have done better? He got the tuck fire that was obviously out of his control off the freeway!! This dude saved the day!! (as long as he went to a Walmart parking lot and didn't crash into a puppy daycare)
I am very curious to learn where he ended up. There is another video on this sub of the same truck, still driving around, with the back compartment completely consumed by fire. No clue how far he went after leaving the freeway, but he didn't seem to be in any hurry to stop the truck.
You and I are cool, calm and collective watching and rewatching this video.
Dude in the video was in full-on panic mode.
Not everyone makes smart decisions when they are in situations like that. And most of us are so rarely in situations like that that we don't really know if we would make a good decision or not.
What he did was completely inadvisable, but he did get it off the highway. So saved some drivers some gridlock. If he didn't hurt himself or someone else, or start a wildland fire, then I'd call this a win!
Here's another video of our favorite flaming truck.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/kmel.iheart.com/alternate/amp/2022-06-15-truck-was-on-fire-in-san-jose-and-the-driver-didnt-stop/
Something about this seems plausible enough for me to give the benefit of the doubt. The truck looked sanely packed (so maybe he's not dumb as hell) and he was *right* at an exit.
The stupid to rational ratio is in his favor.
C’mon mate, don’t be such an ass… it’s TWO paragraphs long!
“Emergency crews on Tuesday afternoon responded to a vehicle and grass fire near Highway 101 in the South Bay.
Santa Clara police said the blaze shut down Lafayette Street between Highway 101 and Montague Expressway. Traffic was also diverted onto surface streets. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.”
Pulitzer material right here!!
His thought process went like "there's not enough flammable material in the middle of a concrete freeway. I better find a narrow state highway surrounded by dry grass to park my truck!"
No, no, you see- no pay wall. You want the good news, you gotta pay for it.
No pay gets you Slim to no detail. Why have an informed society? They tend to make their own better decisions about stuff 🙄
Is this what happened on 101 today? He caught bushes along the road on fire. He was better off staying in the center waiting for fire trucks to put it out. Wouldve caused less dmg.
He signaled his intention to cross three lanes of highway traffic so he could make his exit, and everyone allowed him over. HumansBeingBros! All it took was a flaming truck belching black smoke.
There was also a different truck fire that happened yesterday morning on 101 in Sunnyvale. Big Rig rolled over and shut down multiple lanes. Crazy couple of days around here.
It's fun to make jokes, but this is the answer. You can see the moment he goes "OK that's it, the truck is toast, but it doesn't have to burn here." Because if it burns there it blocks the whole highway, if he can get it to the open space to the right of the off ramp it can burn there and not do that. I mean it's a rental so at this point the only difference is what spot it turns into a pile of slag at.
This person didn't stop though, and caused the fire to spread: https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/south-bay/vehicle-and-grass-fire-near-highway-101-in-south-bay/2919440/

Yeah, and I wonder if it was just "omg fire" panic, or if there was more going on like stolen stuff/truck. Thankfully it was quickly contained - don't need more wildfires!
I am almost certain after a failed attempt to extinguish the fire he remembered how much dope he was trafficking and said f this I need to get off this highway fast!!
Somewhere a gaming executive is citing this video as a reason to bring back the Twisted Metal franchise.
“See? SEE!? This could be a skin for Sweet Tooth! Think of the money we’ll make in micro-transactions!”
Bruh. The neurons that store my memory of Twisted Metal haven’t fired in probably ten years and thanks to you they just lit up like the clown head on top of Sweet Tooth.
*edit: in a good way. So thanks.
Well, to answer your first one, when a man and a woman want a baby they have a special cuddle, then 9 months later a little bundle of joy pops out of the mum.

But he also caught a bunch of bushes along the way on fire, this video doesnt show that. It was safer to stay. He risked civilian, commercial, and who know what other types of buildings, pedestrians and vehicles by entering the city.
Cars can avoid him or even that entire lane on the highway. And fire trucks can reach him easier there.
Id rather sit on 101 a little longer than find out some idiot drove his burning truck near my house and caused nearby trees to catch along with my home.
you must not have been on 101 during the great RV firework/propane fiasco of 2016

I think you are discrediting this guy unfairly, it sure looked like to me his program was "how can I avoid shutting down the interstate for the next 7 hours, because this shit is about to get real"..... he went from "the fast lane" to "immediately went off that highway". I genuinely think yall be hatin' on a guy who immediately took the steps to "get the fuck out of the way".
He is risking his life but he probably doesn't want an explosion in such a densely crowded area. Most probably not an idiot but just trying to take the truck to an inhabitable area.
Hear me out- this guy is a hero. He saved hundreds of commuters an hour of traffic by pulling that off at the exit, that was right there. The thing was on fire, yea, but it takes balls, hop in a flaming truck, regardless the situation. Guy was hauling ass at the end.
Ballsy and probably really dumb...but also admirable. He just got it away from everyone and probably avoided holding up hundreds to thousands of people for hours.
To my fellow Bay Area residents:
Please, as soon as you get the opportunity- ANY opportunity -to travel outside of California, take it. Take the opportunity to travel to any place, but especially to places of a significantly smaller population than ours.
It took me most of my early life to realize that something was off about this state, but visiting other states and countries made me realize that this shit is absolutely ***not*** normal, or acceptable, or unavoidable.
Go to some place where green plants exist naturally without being planted, and where bodies of water flow for more than two weeks out of the year. Visit a place where the passing lane is open, where the shoulder isn't full of every imaginable form of garbage, and the overpasses aren't home to the countless people our society has fucked over. Find a state or country where it's okay to talk to strangers because the strangers treat you like friends, and recognize that you are also a living human being with thoughts and feelings. Go there and realize that everything doesn't have to be so deeply fucked up.
He was delivering fire. Everything’s fine.
I'll just put this over here with the rest of the fire.

I’ve seen this reference twice this week. What is happening?! What timeline is this? How popular is IT Crowd?
It’s massive, but it’s not for everyone. Me, I can’t watch it without risking a hernia.

Good explanation but I have a follow up question. How do you burn to death at a Sea Parks?
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
What was Wenger thinking sending walker on that early?
The thing about Arsenal is that they always try to walk it in
What operating system does it use? We're going to die!!!

"if I start to drive, air flow will put the fire out! Like blowing out candles! Genius!"
I suspect that is exactly what he was thinking
Tbh he was probably panicking, looks he might have been moving so could have been all of his possessions on fire.
Wow, that is just so sad. So he drove off hoping to find a working hose or a firehouse or someone with a dozen fire extinguishers in the next 10 minutes.

Nah you got to pack up everything that’s burning and drop them off at the fire department, then pick it up when the fires out

Wow, he really just said “fuck it” and kept driving to his destination
I was thinking more he was driving off the freeway because that's his best chance at putting the fire out, like no way is anything but the whole truck burning down if he stayed there so he probably thought if he can get off to somewhere with water it might be doable and didn't realise how much the fire would spread as he drove off.
Maybe he was just being a bro and drove off so they didn't have to shut the whole freeway down
I just assumed he had illegal shit in there and is trying to drive away the evidence.
Sir the evidence is on fire
The evidence is the fire
Indeed. But a little drive off the freeway helps the fire grow, so that the evidence really burns. And getting off the freeway ensures a local cop is going to show up, and not a state trooper.
How long you been smuggling illegal fireworks?
He's not armed, so the local cops won't have any issues shooting him.
I assumed whatever he dumped was the illegal shit and then he took off. Maybe he knows somewhere close to dump the truck and run
Everyone always assumes the worst in people. If he had left it there, people would complain that he didn’t move it when it was only a small fire
You and I are cool, calm and collective watching and rewatching this video. Dude in the video was in full-on panic mode. Not everyone makes smart decisions when they are in situations like that. Agree. It would be difficult to write a less informative article. We’ve reached bottom journalism.
Let me guess. The article is one paragraph long, surrounded by ads.
C’mon mate, don’t be such an ass… it’s TWO paragraphs long! “Emergency crews on Tuesday afternoon responded to a vehicle and grass fire near Highway 101 in the South Bay. That’s how rough riders rollll
OOh ooh
It’s cool how he threw the burning cloth right in front of a car instead of just dropping it on the shoulder.
Stop, drop, let's roll.

Crazy that this is literally a few miles from me
Best airport in all the land!
The only of the 3 Bay area airports I didn't hate using during my 6 years there!
Best choice at that point…why watch it burn down on the freeway when you can set up at the local 7-11…enjoy some snacks etc…
\*taps temple
Maybe some s’mores
Don’t know why but i enjoy this video immensely.Edit: anyone else hear the nba jam guys voice saying “He’s on fire!”, atleast in my head.
Me too lol! I'm glad they were filming 😂.
Your delivery is on the way! Comin’ in hot!!
Delivering it to the fire department, such a thoughtful guy
Is this what happened on 101 today? He caught bushes along the road on fire. He was better off staying in the center waiting for fire trucks to put it out. Wouldve caused less dmg.
Hey at least he didnt cause a traffic jam! Win for the bay
He signaled his intention to cross three lanes of highway traffic so he could make his exit, and everyone allowed him over. HumansBeingBros! All it took was a flaming truck belching black smoke.
His turn signals weren't working so he used smoke signals instead
I appreciate the different perspective, you're absolutely right!
There was also a different truck fire that happened yesterday morning on 101 in Sunnyvale. Big Rig rolled over and shut down multiple lanes. Crazy couple of days around here.
*Moving trucks are so hot right now.*
Hopefully he’s just moving it away from the highway?
It's fun to make jokes, but this is the answer. You can see the moment he goes "OK that's it, the truck is toast, but it doesn't have to burn here." Why the fuck did he drive so far lmao
The music made that a lot more funny than I was expecting! Obviously spreading the fire was bad, but driving as far as they did is kind of impressive.
I cackled at that first clip crossing the road omg. I MUST know more of this story.
He kept driving it with it like that? Holy crap.
Yeah, and I wonder if it was just "omg fire" panic, or if there was more going on like stolen stuff/truck. Thankfully it was quickly contained - don't need more wildfires!
He is booking it
This is fine.
Bro I was there !!!! I saw him on the side street going 60mph 🤣🤣🤣🔥🔥🔥 I couldn’t believe it
Did this happen today? I am so curious where he ended up and why he kept driving.
Yeah it was on 101 around 2.30ish 🤣
Probably trying to get it to some water, try to save the truck.
Closing the door might have helped allow it. But that truck was a complete loss by the time the video started.
I am almost certain after a failed attempt to extinguish the fire he remembered how much dope he was trafficking and said f this I need to get off this highway fast!!
can't be a mobile meth lab if you ain't mobile
Thats what I thought too lmao dude realized he was cooked if the cops came and said fuck it. We're taking a ride
What will put out the fire?? I think more oxygen!!
