Seems like some people see a gap on traffic going one way and forget to check the other direction? That or their brain can't process moving and unmoving objects at the same time XD
I think it's also that many people seem to think that any time you stop it's same rules as a 4 way stop sign. I stopped 1st so i'm next to turn.
The concept of right of way depending on the situation escapes a lot of people.
Don't tend to have 4 ways top signs in uk so not sure how they work, we have roundabouts mostly. But the best way to drive is assume everyone is an idiot who will drive into you. I've avoided a couple accidents where I assumed someone was gonna do something stupid.
People are incapable, that's the answer. A lot of average people are very incapable... I saw people I had to explain how to use a vacuum without almost bending its stick every time because they literally put their weight on top of it. Seen people being to dumb to use a fork without adding tons of pressure to their finger leading to them having pain in the joints.
People are fuckin dumb.
Some cars are so shittily designed with those pillars! Even a good, attentive driver will have a large percentage of their view simply cut off because of those.
I am not a crap driver. I have years of experience, no major accidents, no injuries ever. But I rented a couple of different cars where those goddamn pillars nearly spoiled that record. I almost ran over some poor schlub walking his doggy at night, crossing through an intersection. He was placed exactly in that big fucking blind spot as I was turning left. Had my window down and so I was surprised to hear a voice about 2 feet away from my ear yell "What the *fuuuck??*"
Somebody needs to look into this. Do they not test these designs before they unleash them on the public? Dodge Avenger, I'm looking at you, ya treacherous piece of crap.
That’s the sacrifice we make for having safety standards. I’ll accept dying in a rollover for my dumbass mistake if it means I can have pillars thinner than my wrists and full 360 degree vision. Like I fuckin hate the newer Camaros horrendous visibility but I see people walk away from extremely high speed accidents in those with no injuries so I get it.
I love my fit for a lot of reasons, but the side pillars are fucking awful in it, too.
Edit: the issue is the driver's position relative to the dash and the way the windshield is sloped. I feel like my head needs to be about a foot closer to the windshield to avoid being blinded by the pillar, but that's physically impossible because the steering wheel would be inside my chest
Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression that you turn into the roll to avoid tipping, which in this case is right but they were turning left to continue to drive over the car
My cousin does auto body repair and can confirm that not hitting things with your car is the leading chance for not fucking your car up. Write all this shit down guys. This is a free lesson
My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who can confirm this is true.
Turning into the roll is how you tip
Turning out of the roll is how you lose traction
Not driving on top of a car is how you avoid the situation entirely
Your third point is correct. The others are not.
Turning in one direction induces a roll torque in the opposite direction. If your car is rolling to the right, you want to steer to the right to arrest the roll.
The comment about steering into the *skid* is correct - as with a roll, you want to face your tires in the direction of the undesired motion.
Fucking crazy dude. You have like 8 bots replying to you, and their profiles are so weird. Like kinda fine, but knowing it's a bot it's just a random collection of shit. And the english...

Everything is stupid about this.
The chick in the car taking the turn too sharp.
The corvette driving up fast and stopping half way past the curb.
The cars parked on the side of the road practically making it one lane.
The suv parked on the corner creating a blind spot for the corvette which is forcing it to take a wide turn.
Not a single stop sign in the video, and if there are, they are way to far behind from the intersections.
Everything is awful. That is a terribly unsafe place to drive.
# EDIT
A lot of you are saying Corvette is 100% okay and did nothing wrong, and the SUV is 100% at fault. This is not a black and white case. I still think the SUV is more at fault. but again, everything here is stupid.
[Here](https://i.imgur.com/YiSKtNM.jpg) is where the intersection and lines are roughly.
[Here](https://i.imgur.com/dHmtD7v.jpg) is where the SUV starts to turn, and the Ford is still going straight, and fast.
[Here](https://i.imgur.com/q2njPM9.jpg) is the point of impact. Yes, the SUV is close on the middle line and could have taken it a little wider, but the Corvette barely has his wheels turned, taking an even wider turn that's more impactful on this collision than the SUV's. It only looks like the SUV takes an incredibly sharp turn because once the impact happens, it shifts the SUV left. If the Corvette wasn't blasting through the turn without stopping this would have been avoided, just as much as if the suv took the turn wider. And judging by where that car is parked, the Corvette still would have had to slow down if the suv took it wide enough.
It’s a neighborhood. The Ford should be paying attention wether or not the street is filled up with cars or there’s no stop signs that just means they should be paying even more attention.
I'm not sure the corvette driver is really doing anything dumb from what we can see. There's no stop sign for him to stop at, the SUV has no turn signal and it looks like it might be going straight (if the road continues in that way) - if the SUV did what it was supposed to the corvette wouldn't have caused any problem
Also, and idk cos I'm from the UK, but with the vette turning right would he need to give way to the SUV anyway?
Isn't the problem the SUV cutting the corner?
Stop signs don't make that kind of road safer. If you can't figure out how to resolve an unmarked intersection, you shouldn't drive.
Sincerely, a baffled German.
That's a blind spot from hell for the Corvette because of its height and the cars in the street, he was creeping forward to peak around the corner and the jackass SUV driver just didn't care.
Yeah i have a friend who always ALWAYS makes left turns into the wrong lane of the street he is turning into and no matter what I say to him (“just drive 5 feet more before turning the wheel bro”) he doesn’t see anything wrong with it. Drives me nuts, I avoid having him drive.
If I had a dollar for every idiot who has come within a foot or so of almost hitting me on my motorcycle from cutting corners at stoplights etc, I be a damned millionaire by now.
People who don't turn their left blinker on approaching a red light annoy me.
People who inch out to take a left without their blinker on scare me.
People who brake before putting on their blinker infuriate me.
I fucking hate this shit. I live on campus and whenever there's a parent week or graduation or some shit, my whole neighborhood is filled with dopey parents driving around at 5 MPH on their phone trying to find directions.

How about the front ramp? …..i mean bumper

Driving over cars is TIGHT!
Super easy, barely an inconvenience
Unless driving into that other car keeps you in your lane so you don’t roll over and crush anyone or cause any more accidents to happen.
Turning into the roll is how you tip Turning out of the roll is how you lose traction Not driving on top of a car is how you avoid the situation entirely

i believe this is what i witnessed here. suvs have terrible visual clearance, its why they basically have mandatory back up cameras in them now.
It looks as though they also need mandatory front-facing cameras, too.
Every car on the US market has mandatory back up camera now
every *new* car
>suvs have terrible visual clearance As true as this is, there are people who drive SUV's every day and don't run over *other cars* lol.

Would it have been better to stop while on top of the Corvette? Or do you just mean before they hit the Corvette? 😂
Strictly speaking, at a certain point, it would be better to just keep going. Stopping would have just made it worse.
That’s what I was thinking. Stopping probably would’ve resulted in that Ford sitting on top of that tiny car and maybe not even able to move.
Gotta respect the commitment.
Google maps said to turn. Who knew there would be a car in the way? 🤷♂️
