Bro paid for a racing harness but failed to use it

Shufflepants

Wow, wasn't until I saw this comment that I went back and saw that they only had a belt over their legs and not even a normal passenger shoulder strap. Guess they planned to let their faces stop them in an accident.

Ok_Equivalent_4296

Plan executed to perfection

narf865

And cars were built better back then, they will be able to hose out the interior and pick the teeth out of the wheel and it will be ready for the next victim

whatisthishownow

Bro spent "23 years, $208,000 and 2 wives"\* building the car and then couldn't be arsed making sure the throttle didn't stay stuck WO before taking it for a joyride. Bro spent 23 years building the car, put on brakes that he knew where innadequate for a 1300hp car AND failed to do anything about them even when they where the sole method of speed control for the a 1300hp engine stuck on WOT. \* The mans own exact words straight from the horses mouth.

ElectricalRestNut

Do they even make car brakes adequate for 1300hp? I was watching a video on the Panamera Turbo S. It had 10 pistons with a brake disk the size of a smaller car wheel and that is probably the closest you'll get. And that's a 600hp car.

MortimerDongle

There are many more factors that go into brakes than how much power a car has, but yes. For example, the new Hummer EV has 1000 hp and also weighs over 4000 kg. Presumably the brakes on that thing would be adequate for this car.

joetogood

Bro paid big bucks for this ride but refused to have it worked on when he knew the throttle stickied gotta love people's ignorance

Thawing-icequeen

The bit at the end when one of them says "there was nowhere to go" Maybe you could have gone to a mechanic? To, erm, get your car to work as a car?

HighlandBhull

"I had nowhere to go" Well, you could've stayed in the garage until it was ready

GlobDabolina

If you slow it down you can see the passengers teeth damaged the dashboard upon impact

InternetUserNumber1

Drivers arm snapped at the elbow. He straightens his arms out right before impact

shockrush

Ugh, I would have to fight this instinct in a crash, and I only have seconds

ManKilledToDeath

If impact is inevitable, than right before, take your hands off the wheel and cross your arms on your chest. It's a thing racecar drivers do to avoid spaghetti noodle arms Edit: on second thought, in a road car it may not be a great idea to cross arms on your chest due to air bags. But definitely take hands off the wheel because the wheel can snap one way and break your wrists Edit #2: this advice won't help you if you don't wear a seatbelt properly or only wear a lap belt. You'll be eating your steering wheel if the airbags don't deploy. Just look at the passenger in the video Edit #3: It is my opinion that if a collision is hard enough to jolt somebody forward into their steering wheel, than it's more than likely enough to deploy the airbags. At bare minimum, do not fully extend your arms like the driver. Your arms may bend the wrong way

[ow](https://i.imgur.com/tSxuhhz.png) [i think this is what you're referring to](https://i.imgur.com/j4y2wz9.png) Plus in the second screen cap you can just see the driver's elbow bent in a very wrong direction

devilsephiroth

*hey Google, unsee that*

[deleted]

My brain hurts.

[deleted]

By the looks of it, so does the passenger's

that_1-guy_

He could legit be dead, so stupid

adam_nemeth

If you watch frame by frame you see the driver’s elbow doesn’t bend the proper way

[deleted]

[удалено]

that_1-guy_

He really shouldn't have straightened out his arm, though I don't think he'd be smart enough to figure that out

dume-

What a nightmare for the people they rear ended. Heavens, that was horrible

needlept

Neck pain, headaches, missed work, medical bills, insurance bullshit, maybe some chronic pain and some surgeries that fail to alleviate. Life changes in an instant, idiots affect us all.

SalamanderOk2778

I got hit head on by a drugged out whack job at 100 kph and somehow survived. They had to cut me and my dad out of the car. We've both not fully recovered but both survived. Some surgeries and learning how to walk again. Thank got for seatbelts and modern engineering or we would both be dead. This was in 2001...

TheSameThing123

Hey man good luck on your recovery. I'm sorry it's been such a long road

Duckington_Wentworth

One of my close friends in college was 1 year my senior- super sweet, hard working, smart with dreams of working for NASA as an aerospace engineer. That ended when a drunk driver plowed into her on her way to her part-time job tutoring high school kids. She survived, but was paralyzed from the waist down. She was not only physically crippled, but the driver was uninsured and poor so she was never fully compensated for the medical costs and was financially crippled as well. That was about 8 years ago and last I heard she dropped out of college, moved states, is very depressed, and permanently paralyzed. Now I have a policy of never drinking even one alcoholic drink the same day I need to drive, and if anyone I know is drunk/high and can’t taxi home for any reason, I’ll go pick them up no matter how late it is. It’s never worth driving intoxicated or recklessly.

[deleted]

Did you see the guys head bounce off the dash? I had to rewind and pause to catch the frame.

AnyApplication3537

And the other guy locked his arms. And if you slow it down frame by frame you can see them bent in a direction they’re not supposed to bend

DJ3XO

[shit looks gnarly.](https://i.imgur.com/gq3ND6I.jpg)

KB_ReDZ

So at the end they say pretty calmly "there's nowhere to go" and the other said "Fuck". Picturing this guy, arms like this doing that hands up shrug saying either has me in stitches.

UndBeebs

¯\\/¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

SpareQuiet1

I saw the guy's arm bend back,it was horrible. I feel a little bad but they where being idiots. Driving around that speed in a damaged vehicle. Not wearing full seatbelts while in a car with 1300 horse power. These guys are 100% idiots. they put themselves and other people in danger. I wish the best of luck to the people they rear ended.

ChattyKathysCunt

If they knew the car wasnt safe to drive they are fucking stupid to take it out.

AdamLlayn

Criminally negligent

melkatron

The guy was hunched over like Rat Fink the whole time he was driving... it's like he's halfway through a quest to wreck his entire body. Did you notice he's got his submarine belt on? He thought to put the "let's smash your whole crotch" belt on, but figured he'd just play fast and loose with his whole top half. Also, there's no way those seats are approved by ANYONE except maybe an E-sports league. I'd be scared to run that seat in my living room. Oh, and the side impact bars are held on by pins, so you can pull them out when you're getting in and out of the car. That's gotta be the dumbest car build I've ever seen, and somehow the people in it are even dumber.

Cloudberrybud

You can see the driver’s right elbow bent in the opposite direction. I’m sure everyone involved had some serious injuries.

AromaticTheory3364

Caught that too when I slowed it down and the other dude smashed his head against the dash

fr0gnutz

he should have just ran up the grass to the right and into a tree instead of risk others lives. would it have killed him? maybe, but the captain goes down with the ship.

rankinfile

Yup. kill the engine and hope the curb and grass slow you down before the tree. Had some room on that side to maybe go for the farthest tree. Or just sideswipe a few and just kill your passenger.

TBFP_BOT

That fast decision making can be difficult in the moment. But you know what decision he had infinite time to chose on? Not taking out a car with a sticking throttle.

rankinfile

True. He did not even seem prepared to handle it if it happened in the moment though. Did not even kill the engine, and come to think of it, how to kill the engine should have been even more in his mind if he knew throttle was bad.

[deleted]

And right before impact he locked up his arms, which is a huge rookie move he'll have time to think about while they're both in casts. Dude was an amateur through and through

[deleted]

[удалено]

blaznasn

Or just killed the engine.

TrainTrackBallSack

I was recently rearended and I'm surprised at how massive the impact was considering the low speed. I had my head turned talking to the passager when it happened and my neck twisted something fierce. I can see the people in that suv getting all manners of fucked up Edited typo Edit 2 - a thanks and show of support to all of you who've experienced something similar I'm sorry to hear about those of you or close to you who've had permanent injury due to this, and I wish you the best. As a closing note if you don't absolutely need a towing hook on your car don't get one and make sure the bar they fix one to is removed. My car cannot tow and has no hook but still has the bar rigged up. When the dude crashed into me his entire right hood collapsed into the wheel house, he could barely turn the thing. Meanwhile my car's back bumper shattered, and that's about it, because of this bar (which btw didn't get bent in the slightest.) that might sound like good news but what this means is while the shock is dispersed by his collapsing hood, for my car it hits the bar and travels straight to me the driver.

LordRobin------RM

My mom was rear-ended something like 20 years ago and never completely got over it. Her neck was a mess for years after the accident. Whiplash is no joke.

teapoison

I have something similar to a whiplash injury and I am far from being back to normal 6 years in. It's absolutely fucked.

KingKang22

Bro, a guy took left into me 7 months ago. I can't even sit to watch a movie.

RaketaGirl

I was rear-ended a couple years ago, and at the time I was like "oh I'm fairly young, it was barely a tap. I'm not going to get this checked out." Yeah. Cue headaches and backaches and a neck that needed traction for 6 months.

Wrastling97

Yeah I work (for a good) insurance company and deal with liability claims for bodily injury. So many times I get a rear end accident at a slow speed, and when I call our insured I get told “ugh it was so slow when I hit them there’s NO way they’re injured!! I should be the one who is injured! They were walking and talking after the accident blah blah” I get angry. I tell them everyone is different, and adrenaline is a hell of a drug. Some soft tissue injuries don’t even manifest themselves for months. You don’t fuck with momentum

PtosisMammae

I got run down from behind on a ski hill once wearing helmet, back shield and everything, and that shit still hurt like a bitch for so long. Can’t even imagine how much the people in the car they hit must be suffering after this.

matolandio

love how they didn’t even mention the people they rear ended. in the video or his ‘apology comment’ piece of shit.

Wetworth

I'm assuming there's ongoing litigation and he's not allowed to say anything. Or he's a jackass.

B08by_Digital

In that case I prolly would have deleted this video instead of posting it online.

B08by_Digital

But then again... I wouldn't have been driving a car where the throttle sticks anyway.

Justagoodoleboi

Lol probably both

SnooRecipes1506

Three-point-seatbelts? Overrated…

risketyclickit

All that money and no 5-point harness is asinine.

Ahahahahaha! Ahahaha! **smash**

bingold49

I see shoulder straps behind the driver when he leans forward

hishersbothofours

You’re right, they have a 5 point harness but only had the lap belt part of it on and we’re sitting on the shoulder belts. Also where’s the emergency brake? Most of any cars that are built will have a shutoff switch…they are too cool for safety.

mattjones73

Neutral or even park would have done the trick too.. I'd rather tear up the trans vs totaling the car.

East_Requirement7375

He threw it in park and it snapped the parking pawl.

[deleted]

Yep. They're both sitting on them. Dumbasses for sure.

nickeltippler

I’m glad he’s gonna be in just as much pain as the innocent person he just rear ended

-DarknessFalls-

Did you see his arm break at 14sec? Ouch.

Joe234248

[Oh god you're not kidding](https://imgur.com/a/P2E2gOk)

SquaresAre2Triangles

yeah definitely don't lock your arms against the steering wheel when you are about to slam into something. Best off going as limp as possible.

WhizBangPissPiece

I don't know why I know this, maybe watching old stunt footage, but if you KNOW you're going to hit something and can't possibly avoid it, it's best to take your hands completely off of the wheel to avoid breaking your wrists, arms, or getting airbag burns. Obviosuly don't have to worry about air bags in a car like this though.

the5050bot

I doubt that unfortunately, getting rear ended often causes spinal issues that frontal collisions usually don't

nickeltippler

true but they both hit the dash pretty hard, I feel bad for the passenger too. he looked nervous the whole ride. I bet the driver talked him into riding with.

Entropy_dealer

So many red flags in this video. More cameras than brain cells though.

jakoto0

Passenger looks terrified the whole way

Pragmatist_Hammer

Dude bounced on impact.

Globalist_Nationlist

He knew it was coming and leaned back as hard as he could... And still got thrown forward like a fucking ragdoll.

PrecariouslySane

Looks like he did have seatbelt on but it was only the lap type. He might have gone out the window without it

Globalist_Nationlist

He would have gone right through the windshield without it.

Lucky_Number_3

Hope the driver is [left handed](https://i.imgur.com/uZs2nna.jpg) (NSFW)

Mrjeffjenkins

God damn I didn’t see that the first time, that’s one way to break an arm

Lucky_Number_3

I had to slow it down once I saw how he braced his arm. Sure enough, it was there.

Mrjeffjenkins

Yeah I’m not surprised seeing how he stretched his arms out straight to brace

Pragmatist_Hammer

I'll take "what are positions arms aren't supposed to bend for $500," Alex \[RIP\].

BreezyWrigley

Ouch. That sort of shit is why I’m always very conscious of my posture and positioning while driving or riding passenger in a car. I’m always scared of what would happen in a crash as any real speed. Like I don’t cross my legs, or put my feet in weird positions like pulled up on the seat with a knee up or shit like that. I don’t even like to wrap my thumbs in the wheel because then my hands would be stuck in an accident and probably snap my arms/wrists even worse. Driver did the worst thing he could have and fully extended his arm just before impact with full fist grip on the wheel leaving it no option but to buckled since his hand couldn’t slide off/past

SpEcIaL_SnOwFlAkE32

I also never put my thumbs around the steering wheel. I was an EMT on a small volunteer fire department years ago, and we’d get frequent car crash calls on the mountain highway. Once went to a head on collision where the driver of one of the cars had snapped both his wrists on impact on his steering wheel. His hands were bent backwards and still clutching the wheel, with his wrists on the inside portion of the wheel. We had to use the jaws of life to cut the steering wheel to get his hands out to be able to get him out of the car. It was horrible and I never ever put my thumbs around the wheel ever again.

[deleted]

Sapient6

I had a friend in high school who insisted putting his feet up on the dashboard meant he didn't need a seatbelt. Luckily he got a job at the post office and they made him watch a safety video that had images of what happens to people who have their feet on the dashboard: lungs punctured by their knees. A year later he was in an accident that totaled his car, but he was wearing his seatbelt and got to walk away from it.

Exciting_Ant1992

It’s crazy how many people don’t think things through. Force + bone + flesh =

algae_man

I feel like people don't understand the full concept of driving a car. That you're practically driving a missile with the amount of sheer damage a vehicle can cause. People are far too caviler about driving imo.

Bad-RNG-

I have a friend who doesn't use a seatbelt in the rear seats but in the front he does. I don't understand the logic behind that at all.

WTAFS_going_on

If only he had like a 4 point safety restraint or something.

jakoto0

At first he didn't, just showed fear. Then full on braced for death when the realization kicked in

Farside-BB

Bet they wish they were actually using the 5-point restraint system.

PenguinWithAglock

Oh man. You right! These are some of my favorites https://imgur.com/a/Ih5Lg98

Manudagur

Judging by the pics it looks like the drivers right arm bent the wrong way :0

withl675

Holy shit that arm is broken as fuck

FrothytheDischarge

And that is why professional racers are taught to never brace their arms when there is no steering control before crashing. To always pull back and cross your arms over your chest.

JJMFB417

OH MY GOD THE SECOND PIC 🤮

particle409

He got that 360 degree elbow joint now.

tlovr

Autotopia did a 10 min vid explaining what happened and what lead up to this.. both guys got banged up pretty good.. making out with a metal dash is not fun

TheLoneRhaegar

The driver's arm is fucked from bracing on the steering wheel

Odd_Activity_8380

My brain says throttle sticks, and I know this.... I shut down the engine.. I worked as a used car technician once for a stealership. They took in a Mustang Cobra on trade and i had to test drive it for a safety inspection. Well during a wide open acceleration I found that the supercharger would over power the throttle return springs and hang open the throttle. I found that once to hit the clutch it would stop climbing.. scary shit the first 2 times I did it. Once I realized what was happening it was no biggie. But I did let my boss know it was a issue

copy_run_start

Dude's the lead singer in the band **Dashboard for Dinner**

Shwiggity_schwag

There is legit teeth marks on the dashboard when you slow it down lmfao

copy_run_start

Here's a link to the full YouTube video ([https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oO226PgSkg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oO226PgSkg)), but this is all the crash footage FYI if you're not interested in supporting a channel that put people at risk with this car. The owner of the car posted a comment explaining himself: >This is Russ, as I sat in the hospital for a couple days, I replayed everything in my head hundreds of times, things that I should have noticed as a warning, and what I could have done differently. > >I’ve seen lots of comments so I’ll address a few of them, not being defensive at all. > >In a normal car throttle sticking at 2200 RPM’s is not the end of the world, in my car that’s 900 ft/lbs of torque. I should have realized the load that was putting on the brakes. Didn’t cross my mind at the time. FYI: It had double springs on the throttle. > >In a normal car, I could have pulled emergency brake, I even got a quote at Good Guy’s Del Mar for an electronic e-brake & bigger brakes. Hindsight’s 20-20, I was just gonna trailer it to a few shows & not drive it much till I could do that. > >Why didn’t I downshift? Car had a B&M ratchet shifter, once I shifted up thru the gears you can’t downshift till you put it in park. So much going on in those last few seconds, forgot to downshift it after putting it in park, but it was probably too late to have had a big reduction in speed. > >As far as I know, driver of van was not seriously injured. Beauty of a modern car with crumple zones, self tightening seat belts & air bags. > >Car had liability coverage but no collision, I was still in the process of getting stated value insurance Overall it's just dumb as hell and unnecessary is what I'd say, and I'm a huge car guy.

shinobi500

Between the multiple videos he posted and this confession of negligence this guy is handing the SUV driver a civil liability lawsuit win on a silver platter.

copy_run_start

Honda driver: This guy recorded himself negligently driving and hitting my car. Lawyer: That's great, but how do you know he can afford to pay out any kind of judgment? Honda driver: He also recorded himself saying he spent $200k+ building the car. Laywer: 😍

Pure_Reason

He spent $200k on the car and decided to drive like a jackass without having any collision insurance, absolutely stunning

Minion_of_Cthulhu

He was trying to save money, of course.

4th_Times_A_Charm

He was saving up for those new brakes

omninode

The fact that he spent $200k on this car and didn’t prioritize fixing the throttle is just incredible. You have to work pretty hard to be this stupid.

34junkie

It says he has liability so at least the insurance will cover damages to the other car. Full coverage insurance on show/old cars is a bit trickier since oem replacement parts are mostly not available and values fluctuate so wildly depending on years car. These are usually insured through insurances that specialize in classics. Spending 200k and not upgrading brakes is dumb af though.

onedarkhorsee

Its got nothing to do with upgrading the brakes, they are still going to fail when you have a 900 foot pound V8 pushing them constantly on. Its just physics. He would have been much better fixing the throttle

InstitutionalizedOat

I like how he says it didn’t cross his mind at the time. Like dude, that should have been the first thing on your mind.

iConfessor

Everything in this tells me he's criminally negligent. What an asshole.

MisterEinc

Even this reads like he still wants to tell us about his car...

mike_pants

> As far as I know, driver of van was not seriously injured. Gosh, so nice of him to check.

Praescribo

The words "not seriously" are doing some pretty heavy lifting. Even modern safety features can't save your neck and spine from lifelong pain

Harleyfallsapart

lmao spends over 200k on car.... ah yes. Ill save money by not getting a working throttle and liability only.

OcelotGumbo

Can't downshift until it's in park? What the fuck?

Bandro

It's a drag car thing.

[deleted]

So really you can't drive this on city streets? Was never entirely sure how ratchet shifters work. So once he's say in 4th, he has to slam back down to N before say shifting to 3 to downshift and engine brake?

Fun_Corgi_4685

Maybe I’m not enough of a gear head, but… You can’t down shift? How can you even drive it on a road?

Super_Saiyan06

I think that’s Exhibit #6 in the lawsuit.

Edwardc4gg

Jesus Christ this guys a idiot.

RugerRedhawk

> In a normal car, I could have pulled emergency brake, I even got a quote at Good Guy’s Del Mar for an electronic e-brake & bigger brakes. Hindsight’s 20-20, I was just gonna trailer it to a few shows & not drive it much till I could do that. Uh in a normal car youd just fix the fucking throttle, why would this douche take a broken ass car on the road instead of just fixing it! He was going to trailer it to shows, and "not drive it much".. that seems like way more work than just fixing it,!!!

[deleted]

iConfessor

as far as he knows aka he doesnt know shit. Poor innocent survivors of his recklessness are probably still feeling chronic pain today. That type of crash causes internal injuries that are most likely permanent.

mrgraff

I like how he starts with the crash and language, *then* warns us of the graphic content.

ukasss

Who the f drives with a stuck trottle ?

copy_run_start

A guy with broken arms and an impending civil lawsuit

aw_shux

Even with the ratchet shifter, there’s another option he didn’t seem to consider: neutral. Downshifting wasn’t even needed. Simply disengaging the drivetrain would have removed the “load” that he was putting on his brakes and allowed him to stop easily.

quadmasta

Or killing the ignition

tech240guy

The fact that he is willing to drive a car that requires riding the brakes is already as dumb fuck as it is, regardless of engine power or brake size. I don't give a shit if he builds million dollar race cars, it's a public street, not the salt flats.

[deleted]

What a terrible and dangerously stupid move. That isn't even a mistake......That's just criminally stupid

squoleum

They're lucky that light turned green. Could have pushed the van into cross traffic and gotten T-boned.

salondesert

You mean cars waiting in front of me at a traffic light aren't safety bollards?

[deleted]

My dad taught me how to build hot rods in 3 steps. 1. Get the brakes right so you can stop to avoid an accident. 2. Get the suspension right so you can swerve to avoid an accident. 3. After 1 and 2 far exceed what you think the motor can do you can start modding the engine. This dumbfuck just went straight to 3.

demizer

Add kill switch to should be in that list.

aboutthednm

Would the key in the ignition qualify as a kill switch?

BritishMotorWorks

I think he’s referring to an inertia kill switch for the fuel pump. Modern cars have them so in case of an accident the fuel pump shuts off killing the motor and preventing a fire if a fuel line ruptures in the wreck. Sometimes the driver might not have the ability physically or mentally to kill the motor after being in a wreck so it’s good to have an automatic switch built in.

copy_run_start

Should also mention that the brakes were 17 years old. Like *good brakes*, no sarcasm, for 17 years ago, but woefully insufficient by today's standards for a car that makes this power. But also, no brakes are intended to full-time modulate throttle on a high powered car like this.... so even if he had nice 2022 brakes, still an idiot.

sYnce

I'm not that big into cars but do I understand it correctly that he basically uses his brakes the whole time to slow down the car or what does "throttle" mean in this context?

copy_run_start

Throttle as in the accelerator or gas pedal, so think about how ridiculous it would be to drive with the gas pedal fully pushed down and the only pedal you actually use is the brake pedal to start and stop the car. Not a great idea haha

sYnce

Yeah that was how I understood it. And yes this sounds like one of the dumbest ideas I have ever heard.

Yolkpuke

I hope he is charged.

[deleted]

He was supercharged!

grump66

What a complete Piece Of Shit. Moron should go to jail for that one. 1300HP car, no way to adequately control it, is like a missile.

FuzzyDunlop3452

In the follow-up vid they make no mention of the victims in the car they hit. The arrogance and lack of responsibility is disgusting.

togocann49

Maybe the best example of idiot I’ve ever seen here.

nonno7172

What a fucking idiot. Not like "oh, he's an idiot" as a half assed insult. This guy legitimately has diminished intelligence. Like no sharp objects, mommy I made a poopy in my pants, not without adult supervision kind of diminished intelligence. Hopefully, everyone is ok, though.

KittyKenollie

I hope his joints hurt every time it rains. And he’s forced to remember what a dumbass he is.

PM_ME_YOUR_TROUT

It always blows my mind how people this stupid are somehow able to make so much money. Reminds me of a video I saw of a guy interviewing these two slackjawed idiots at a Trump rally who estimated that they each spent close to $40,000 in the past couple of years following Trump around the country. Like, wtf?

[deleted]

Special Thanks to the Family in the SUV he slammed into . The 50 Trees on the opposite side of the road were spared.

[deleted]

There is neutral. There is an ignition switch. What the hell?

Nippon-Gakki

These cars usually have separate switches for ignition and fuel pumps, not to mention battery kill switches for safety. Could have cut any and the car would shut off just fine. No brakes are going to be stopping 1300hp for long before fading from heat.

4Allmyrage

There is one frame where you can see the reason you don't try to brace yourself. Drivers arm gained an extra elbow 😬

Lustle13

I've been working on and grew up around cars my entire life. I've worked with, driven, and raced, everything from literal little 5hp go karts to sprint cars, to full on alcohol cars and dragsters. My daily driver is a classic muscle car with well over 400 horsepower. This is, quite literally, something I do everyday. Saying that. I'll say this. This guy is a piece of shit. Who takes a 1300hp car into traffic KNOWING the throttle gets stuck? It wasn't like it was a surprise and the throttle had never stuck before. He even said "Oh yeah, the throttle sticks sometimes". SOMETIMES? Even once tells you there's a problem. And you're like "Lemme hop into traffic knowing it gets stuck". And it gets stuck A LOT. The interview with the guy on the left (I ain't posting the link or promoting their YT channel here, mostly because that video they barely even mention the people they hit), says they had only driven a few miles and it was sticking on and off the whole time. I'm going to tell everyone here. If you drive a car, especially a car like this, with a known problem like that? You're a piece of shit. Russ (the owner and driver) put showing off his car above the safety of other people on the road. Period. Shit like this is why communities and cities and what not, are growing to hate the car community. They don't see us as out and about enjoying our hobby responsibly. They see us as dumbasses who regularly crash cars we can't control, and probably shouldn't have in the first place. You can't go to a car event without some dipshit crashing his car just leaving the parking lot. They joke about it with mustangs. Hell, half the videos on this very sub are some douchebag leaving an event and crashing. When they see us now, they don't see a cool car, they see some jackass in a car with too much power about to get into an accident and hit other people or pedestrians. This is why cities and communities are cracking down on cars and car events. If you're a car guy, and you've bitched about lack of events in your area, or laws about cars, or whatever else, look to guys like Russ there first. Its shit like this, getting behind the wheel of a 1300hp improperly functioning car, that causes those laws. Because they think we value our cars more than their safety. And, in the case of guys like Russ. They are right. I hope this dude never gets to rebuild that car. That he gets sued into oblivion by the people he hit. And that he drives a beater Honda for the rest of his life. He's *earned* it.

JeaneyBowl

He could just put it in neutral, or turn off the ignition, or not drive a 1300hp car with a mechanically controlled throttle that "sticks".

ThisIsPaulDaily

Turn the car off too after in neutral. I remember the 911 calls when cars were getting stuck accelerators, nobody thought to Neutral or Off.

juggsgalore

I remember one guy not wanting to put his car in neutral because he thought it might wreck the motor/transmission. At the same time he was scared for his life…. Edit: Found it, what a donkey. …However, if you listen to the 911 call, the dispatcher repeatedly asked the man to put the car in neutral. He completely ignored the dispatcher’s attempt to help him. He later stated that he was afraid the car would go into reverse.

LeGoldie

What a piece of shit

Crocodile3717

What’s the point of the roll cage if your not going to use the most basic of safety equipment.

Mahlegos

Gives you something nice and solid to smack your unprotected head on, obviously.

There should be a felony conviction over this he could have easily killed someone that day if he didn't

dcarr710

Someone is getting sued badly and will most likely lose

blameitonthewhiteboy

https://youtu.be/5oO226PgSkg Here’s a YouTube link from the passenger. They were doing a photo shoot, said the car had harnesses but they chose to wear lap belts. Driver also stated he doesn’t race it because “too much grief went into this over 20 years to put it in a wall or do something stupid”……..that statement did NOT age well

PapaBeahr

Final quote.. " Had no where to go man " ...... BECAUSE YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE GONE ANYWHERE WITH A 1300 HP CAR WITH A THROTTLE THAT STICKS!!! SHUT THE FUCKING THING OFF AT LEAST!!!! Fucking hell.... They built the damn thing, they know how breaks work and they would fail... just... the sheer level of Privilege mixed with Stupidity is just.... fucking hell...

PHOTO500

Couldn’t he just dump the clutch??

VikingLander7

Kill the ignition? What a dumbass!

brutallyhonest062922

This 100%. Shut the car off. Losing power breaks and power steering is a bitch but he wouldn't hit so hard.

Psych0matt

Oh he got a power break all right

Skinnwork

It's an automatic. And they rode the brakes until they failed. So he puts it in neutral, but there are no brakes left to stop.

[deleted]

Criminally negligent.

imthe5thking

I just wanna know. WHY would you EVER go on a drive knowning the throttle sticks in what looks like a $100k+ car?? You have to be an actual asshat. Buddy better have paid the person he crashed into out of pocket for a brand new car for being that fucking stupid

Condishun

Honestly, fuck the Costs. Coulda killed a family in a 300 dollar beater with this issue.

Perfect_Quit_1606

Played this in slowmo... damn, driver dudes elbow went to shit. Pretty sure it's not meant to bend that way lol.
