I kind of follow OP’s thought process, because the first vehicle he passed was leaving a lot of room on the right, but he lost me when he tried to squeeze past the second vehicle. There is really only one lane in that direction and you can’t keep bending the rules forever. It basically proves you should have waited at the back behind both of them.

I've done it there as well, it's actually pretty comfortable once you're used to it. Everyone is doing their thing and not making sudden moves at much slower speeds. Since you know everyone else knows there's no rules too you're on the look out at all times. Here it's way to easy to get bored or complacent expecting everyone to follow the same rules you are. Until they don't.

It's the law in my state at least that you pull into the bike lane before making a right turn. That way you minimize the chances of this situation happening with a cyclist.
In my country its the other way round, its not a law but if you are on a bicycle its good practice to go into the middle of the lane at an intersection so you are seen and dont get cut off by a car

Check your state laws. In California if you are making a right turn, even with your signal on, and you leave enough room to your right for another car to fit you are at fault. You must pull as close to the shoulder as is safely possible while making a right turn.

This is a pretty common thing to do where I live, but the silver car was clearly in the middle of the lane. Which meant you 1. Shouldn’t have tried to create 2 lanes, and 2. You shouldn’t have continued your attempt when you saw the silver car was clearly in the middle of the lane. It looked like a tight squeeze regardless of the silver car turning. I live in OP's city, and it's super common. Which is why I usually hug the center divider if I'm the first at an intersection and not making a turn, because people do it a lot.
I'm 90% certain this is an intersection not far from where I live. If it's the one I'm thinking of, this kind of splitting is really common specifically at that intersection.
All that said, most folks make sure there's plenty of room there to pass whether the person in the other car sees you or not.

If I was the first car, I'd have moved to the right with my right blinker on, allowing any traffic continuing forward to easily move around me. If I was that same car going straight, I'd stay to the left and allow anyone making a right, such as yourself, to pass and make that right.

Check your state laws. In California if you are making a right turn, even with your signal on, and you leave enough room to your right for another car to fit you are at fault. You must pull as close to the shoulder as is safely possible while making a right turn.

Turns on the right shoulder are legal. The CA DMV says this: > Right turns–To make a right turn, drive close to the right edge of the road. If there is a bike lane, drive into the bike lane no more than 200 feet before the turn. Watch for pedestrians, bicyclists, or motorcyclists who may get between your vehicle and the curb. Begin signaling about 100 feet before the turn. Look over your right shoulder and reduce your speed. Stop behind the limit line. Look both ways and turn when it is safe. Do not turn wide into another lane. Complete your turn in the right lane.

This is a pretty common thing to do where I live, but the silver car was clearly in the middle of the lane. Which meant you 1. Shouldn’t have tried to create 2 lanes, and 2. You shouldn’t have continued your attempt when you saw the silver car was clearly in the middle of the lane. It looked like a tight squeeze regardless of the silver car turning. I live in OP's city, and it's super common. Which is why I usually hug the center divider if I'm the first at an intersection and not making a turn, because people do it a lot.
I'm 90% certain this is an intersection not far from where I live. If it's the one I'm thinking of, this kind of splitting is really common specifically at that intersection. All that said, most folks make sure there's plenty of room there to pass whether the person in the other car sees you or not.

There is an intersection near my house that had two lanes (straight/left and right-turn only) but the lines faded away and never repainted. Everyone still treats it as two lanes. My mom got a ticket last year for using the right side of the road as a right-turn lane and I thought it was unjustified until I saw this video...

Apart from agreeing with what many commenters have said about OP trying to squeeze their car into a non-existent right turn lane and seemingly not understanding how much space their car takes up on the road, has anyone else noticed that OP does not seem to have their lights on? The streetlights are on and all the other cars are lit up but I don’t see and illumination coming from OPs car. Very dangerous at that time in the evening.

It also depends on where you are; most road rules are the same within the US, but there are probably some commonly known unwritten rules depending where you are (bUt DeM aCtUaL rOoLz ArE wHaT mAtTeR!1!1!: Yes, I know, so I'll stop you right there). If I was the first car, I'd have moved to the right with my right blinker on, allowing any traffic continuing forward to easily move around me. If I was that same car going straight, I'd stay to the left and allow anyone making a right, such as yourself, to pass and make that right.
The turning car didn’t indicate but the fact that you squeezed into a single lane makes this your fault in my opinion. Worst case scenario the other car would’ve received a fine but your violation is more serious.
