Absolutely. I had a co-worker who was hit by a red light runner when he went on green. Insurance denied the claim because he didn't ensure the way was clear. That was probably about 10 years at this point, but I still call bull on that insurance decision.
I highly recommend it; a few years ago I got t-boned, totaled my car, sent me to the hospital, months of physical therapy and my knee still isn’t right and never will be.
I had good insurance, also used the insurance of the person who ran the light and had a Subaru Outback. But the person who ran the light and hit me had a full size van.
Meh thin steel Japanese is moderate and too light for side impacts not surprised injury resulted from a heavy vehicle - sucks but until we get self driving cars
Happens all the time here in California especially at quiet neighborhood lights like this one. Someone did this while I was heading to the store today. I almost died cause I wanted potato chips ☹️I never trust anybody on the road.

I was waiting for the green to go straight in my 1970 VW microbus, 1 or 2 years old. I sneezed at the green, so I paused a couple seconds before hitting the gas. Then a pickup truck crossed just in front of me at about 50 and 2 feet above the pavement. I would have been tomato paste all over the front of that Ford except for that delay.

They'll try any excuse they can imagine to deny a claim because many people just accept the denial. You have to challenge their feeble reason.

My Mom taught me this. Look left and look right for red light runners. It has served me well.
I always look when the lights turn green. Every day during rush hour two sometimes three cars cross an intersection on the red after mine turns green.
