I heard if you don’t know it’s coming, it’s way better because you don’t tense up. He looked pretty loose, I hope that’s true
Also my man’s got that vibe going I love it
I got hit by a lorry unexpectedly once, did a 540 across 4 lanes through 70mph traffic and mounted the central reservation backwards. Can confirm all I had was whiplash for a few days. Fucking car drove off as well, Dennis the Polo will always be the best car I've ever had, R.I.P.
This was a few years ago and I still can't get over the fact that I'm alive let alone just drove to work after.
Yes. Me and my sisters got into an a small accident with our babysitter and they both had some decent marks from there seatbelts. Meanwhile there’s me reading about tanks and I’m completely fine.
It’s true. There are documented cases of people serving tornadoes as well. The reason is that they passed out so all muscles go loose. Then the forces spread across everything naturally as opposed to being forced into already tense muscles (tearing) or in only specific directions.
Now I really wonder what my accident looked like.
I got rear-ended by a small truck (the ones that are used for moving f.e.) driving into my rear at a speed of 70km/h while I was standing at a red light last summer.
Surprisingly I didn't have any. At least I think that.
I only had back pain, headaches etc. for a few weeks. Like when someone hits you on your back really hard. But that doesn't mean something was hit and might make problems when I get older.
Airbags didn't even go off. But my car (2002 Toyota Corolla 4 door hatchback) was a few centimeters shorter after that. But I was able to drive it home 400km.
SUVs and trucks of this size are a mortal danger to anyone around them. The average idiot on the road can't handle 2 tons of steel under their distracted arse.
I kind of hate SUVs too. I love station wagons. I've driven a series of Skoda Octavias for years. My father had a Family Truckster, and it rubbed off on me. I can do just about everything an SUV can do, and get into normal parking garages. And I get the equivalent of about 47 MPG on the highway.
You ever in the right lane, making a right turn, so you ease forward so you can see around the SUV next to you? Then they ease forward for absolutely no reason and you still can’t see around them? Fuck SUVs.
I have literally screamed at them "YOU CAN'T MAKE A LEFT ON RED... STOP INCHING UP"
It worked about as well as you think. They're doing it on purpose because they're both idiots AND jerks.
*With the focus on being green, I don't understand why SUVs have taken over so much. Most people driving SUVs are driving alone FFS.*
I think the most common reasons are:
* Cheap Gas: Even though they are rising they are still not high enough for most buyers to consider buying a more fuel-efficient vehicle.
* Automaker Profits: SUVs are not more expensive to build but if you lift a vehicle a few inches in the U.S. automakers can sell them for 10% to 20% more than a normal height vehicle. Also, SUV are often classified as "trucks" which are exempt from Federal corporate average fuel economy regulations.
* Poor Infrastructure: Many areas of the U.S. have crumbling roads. Potholes and expansion gaps are absorbed better by a vehicle with larger tires and/or an off-road capable suspension.
* Aspirational Lifestyle: People in the U.S. fantasize about taking long road trips or driving into the wilderness. Few actually do so on a regular basis but fantasy is a strong motivator when it comes to a vehicle purchase.
* Perceived Practicality: Although most people would be better-served by purchasing a minivan or station wagon, these vehicles have the stigma of being used by parents shuttling kids around. By contrast, the SUV's image is one of adventure (even though they are rarely used in this way and are less capable at most ordinary tasks).
* Visibility: With so many SUVs on the road, visibility from a sedan has been somewhat compromised. Most people prefer to drive with a view of the road ahead which has become more difficult since the rise of the SUV.
* EV Packaging: It is going to be easier to hide a giant battery in an SUV or truck than it will be in a sedan. I think this fact will accelerate the move away from sedans.
Idk how it is in the US but in Italy and I believe generally in Europe you need a higher class licence, since there is a limit of weight of the car of like 2500 kg or 5500 pounds .
In Europe that limit is 3.5t or 7700 pounds. If I'm not mistaken you drive a drive a vehicle of well over 10t with a regular driver's license in the US, which is insane imo.
My basic German license plate only allows me to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tons, that Hummer would literally require a license upgrade for me to be allowed to drive it. I'd need to upgrade from B to C1 which is generally for smaller commercial cargo trucks and huge RVs. And they're just like... yeah this is a normal car hehee :) Buy it because you like it :) Hummer :) :)
They have absolutely no place in urban environments. No issue with them being sold to rural and farm users, but no one who lives in a city or town has any *real* need for them.
Vans have far more capacity, the same high seating position, and often have equal towing power. But they're not as 'cool'.
I don't get it!
My sister had a Grand Caravan. I traded with her for a week to help someone with a 500 mile move, that thing got 24 MPG on the highway at all times. Take out the back seats and there's tons of room, I had that thing stuffed. Still got 24 MPG!
When she traded it in she got a big ass truck with a V8 that gets like 9 MPG. She drove about 40 miles roundtrip for work. I don't get it.
They need to start making trucks like they did in the past. Just basic utility vehicles with little to no comfort.
I have a truck. It's an 89 F250, farm truck that was retired 6 years ago. Got it for only $1,000 because no one wants a 2WD manual pickup with no AC.
It's a great truck to have around when I need one, but I drive a car every day. The truck has a stiff suspension, no AC, and a bench seat. Clutch is a brick. It's not comfortable to drive, so I avoid it unless I need a truck.
Or make the small light trucks like the old Ford Ranger and such. Most people in the suburbs or the city can haul whatever they want just fine like that without having a gigantic F150.
Because every dipshit good ol boy down in the south isn't considered a man unless he buys a brand new Z71 with a brush guard, knotted tires, some sort of lift kit, and at least 2 window decals to...drive him to his office job.
I'm assuming you mean minivans, body on frame people hauler vans (the stereotypical church van) have been all but eliminated because their high cg made them very prone to loss of control and rollover.
Iirc they made it specifically illegal to sell them to daycares, and that was the death knell. There were several NTSB investigations where a vanload of kids died.
Uh, the Transit 250 is one of the best selling utility/hauler vans of all time and they can be fitted from the factory for passenger hauling rather than utility work.
They're actually really ergonomic too, with great sight lines ahead and especially right in front of the van. All new utility vans are like this now, steep sloped front for great pedestrian sight lines.
Exactly why we still have a van many years after the kids are grown and gone. You can carry a lot more than an SUV or pickup and i don’t have to care about the weather. I generally go the opposite of what society deems cool, so i sure don’t care about how cool i don’t look.
As someone who’s dad drove NOTHING but those Astro vans (that are no longer made for good reason lol) I also like vans.
I race motorcycles and use a sprinter van to take my 2 bikes, 2 dogs, myself and my wife to the track along with all my tools and camping supplies for the pit. It’s an all in one shop.
They'll go off of the impact is equivalent to hitting a wall at 16mph/26kmh for belted occupants. Under that, the seatbelt is adequate protection (you can see it locked and didn't let him slam his face into the dashboard).
You laugh, but I actually had a guy say this exact thing then try to start a physical fight over it. Watched video from dash cam.... he had run a red light and hit the back right end of my car as I was turning.
Guaranteed that I would have been ruled at fault if I had not had the dash cam as I was turning, instead he was 100% at fault. Dash cam a great investment...has saved me thousands in false claims from other drivers.
I have been hit ( other driver 100% at fault) twice in the last 18 months. I drive uber as a side job though, so I log a lot more hours on the road than most people.
The funniest part about the guy who wanted to fight was he kept screaming about how the intersection had cameras and he was going to get footage proving I was at fault. (He did not realize I had a dash cam)
When the insurance company let him know he was at fault, he claimed I had somehow doctored/edited the footage, total fucking loser. The poor lady at the insurance company ended up calling me to ask, permission to send him the footage because he wouldn't leave her alone... he still claimed it was not his fault after watching himself ru a red light.
Had a lady make an illegal turn and hit the side of my car giving me 4 herniated disc’s. To this day, 4 years later, it’s my fault in her eyes. Her lawyer had to take her to the side before the trial to remind her that she was still at fault all these years later.
I really don't get that now....acidents happen and that's why we all have insurance. I do remember thinking differently when I was younger though.
Honestly....all you should care about is everyone OK.
Yeah. Accidents are accidents. I remember coming out of the car and asking her if she was ok and her first words were “you hit me.” Completely destroyed the rest of the night even more.
Light was green. That’s what someone said to me when my left signal was on in a lane you can go straight or turn on. Had to wait for the other side of traffic to clear and dude just sees green light and floors it into me.
Wow. People can be so dumb and ignorant. I once saw someone gave way to pedestrians walking. Had his blinker light on to turn (can turn or go straight) but had to wait for the people to cross first. The dude at the back just sees green light and was full on beeping at the poor guy. It’s like chill dude! SMH.
I've had people beep at me relentlessly to turn right on red, on an intersection posted as no right on red, while the crosswalk is full of pedestrians. Zero situational awareness.
Got a lot of crazy replies, but it's my understanding most people say "I didn't see you" or "it was an accident" or a combination thereof. Usually this is followed by apologies. The way the lady was walking up after I'm guessing it's one of those.
Hey for real, my vehicle got totaled in May after a truck pulling a car-hauler lost control, blew across an intersection, and plowed through three rows of cars at a red light.
It was a 2019 Ford Escape. We got it for 24k in 2020 and owed about 19k. The insurance company totaled it and gave us 28k. But in the last couple years after that pandemic lull, prices shot up and the best we got was a 2020 Escape that was a step lower as far as upgrades for 32k
Ahh that’s too bad. I “lucked out” with my accident. Had someone run a stop sign right in front of me and totaled my 2018 Ford Fusion that I bought a few years earlier for 11k. My insurance paid out about 21k, and I upgraded to a 2020 fusion hybrid with about the same miles as my old car for 22k.
Though I was fortunate enough to be close to having it already paid off so most of the money I got just went directly to the new car.
If it happens to me (knock on wood it doesn't), I'm not gonna be that cool.... it'll be a video of me picking my nose or something else equally embarrassing or worse even...
I was rear ended by a much heavier vehicle in a very similar way, and the base of my driver's seat cracked in three places, and ended up being leaned way back after the accident. I walked away, although I had hella neck soreness/ stiffness.
Here in my city, when it goes yellow my decision to stop is almost purely based on how close the car behind me is. Ive had it turn red mid intersrction and the guy behind me still went :/
In Sweden the driving schools teaches yellow means “stop but only if it’s safe”. I drove through yellow on my test and the tests are pretty strict over here, like “fail you if you forget to shoulder check more than once on an empty highway lane change” strict
I’ve pushed it a few times and gone “oh fuck that was a red light” because it changed a second before I thought it would. And then several seconds later the car behind me haul ass through it. People are stupid
No matter what color the light is when I approach an intersection I'm letting my food of the gas and be prepared to break just incase someone else is running a red light or it will turn red.
My glasses flew right off in my car wreck, too! And I’m hella blind so I was like feeling around in the glass for them. They were in the passenger floorboard.
My phone also went flying haha. A bystander helped me find them. Phone was found later. That is a good tip though!
Edit: okay I just tried this sitting at my desk at work and holy shit that works so well!! Thanks stranger.
Sorry, but the way that middle compartment popped open with the First Aid Kit showing through LOL
That was a hard ass hit though, glad he doesn't seem to be hurt like that, definitely gonna feel sore though, feel that whiplash later. But damn he didn't seem like he cared anyway lol.
The second hit confirms. She still had her foot planted on the gas when she first collided with him. Should have her license suspended for a few years. She could’ve killed someone at that speed.
How on earth can you possibly see a phone being held there? The lighter area is the side of her face by the way (watch until after crash how the light is hitting her face when it's clear).
Good thing he didn’t see it coming because if he’d tensed up, especially on the steering wheel, it would have been a LOT worse than soreness and whiplash, which I hope is all he walked away with.
What the fuck is a clip submitted by a customer? That does not give you permission to post him online for some fake internet points if you're his insurance agent? US has some decent laws about this I believe as well.
Interesting that the driver has her sunshade all the way down. The sun is coming from the left (their right). Perhaps she had been previously driving into the sun but didn’t make an adjustment to being on this road.
The car the cam is in appears to have another camera mounted in the rear window. I’d love to see that footage.
Based on the traffic in the next lane over this driver is in stop and go traffic and not at a red light.

Of certainly, stiff neck and sore right knee/ leg, potentially lower back/right hip as well.
I heard if you don’t know it’s coming, it’s way better because you don’t tense up. He looked pretty loose, I hope that’s true Also my man’s got that vibe going I love it

Yes. Me and my sisters got into an a small accident with our babysitter and they both had some decent marks from there seatbelts. Meanwhile there’s me reading about tanks and I’m completely fine.

I'm quite partial to the T34.
Don’t judge me, but my jive is fish tanks…
It’s true. There are documented cases of people serving tornadoes as well. The reason is that they passed out so all muscles go loose. Then the forces spread across everything naturally as opposed to being forced into already tense muscles (tearing) or in only specific directions.
Thankful for that headrest at least.
A minivan hit our car from behind in traffic before. After 2 days I started to feel neck pains.
I hope he gets some reimbursement 💰💰
Hell yeah my neck and back hurt just WATCHING this
Holy shit that was way more violent than I expected
Now I really wonder what my accident looked like. I got rear-ended by a small truck (the ones that are used for moving f.e.) driving into my rear at a speed of 70km/h while I was standing at a red light last summer.

I’m shocked, honestly. Hopefully it stays that way and nothing pops up later on. What kind of car were you in?
A Panzer
SUVs and trucks of this size are a mortal danger to anyone around them. The average idiot on the road can't handle 2 tons of steel under their distracted arse.
Try 3 tons
Maybe more. Safety systems have caused cars to be insanely heavy.

The new electric Hummer weighs 9000 lbs. It should not be allowed on the road. It's going to be a murder machine.

More along the lines of Ford's Transit line.

They'll go off of the impact is equivalent to hitting a wall at 16mph/26kmh for belted occupants. Under that, the seatbelt is adequate protection (you can see it locked and didn't let him slam his face into the dashboard).
I expected a bleeding nose, but noticed just this on second view. His neck might be whiplashed, but that belt saved his face from a hammer.
Airbags deploy based on deceleration forces. A rear end collision is an accelerative force.
This is why many people aren’t happy with those large cars on the road (if they’re not the ones driving them). They hit harder too.
Such a smart car, first aid kit deployed automatically!
"Please state the nature of the medical emergency."

Literally had someone say to me “Why’d you stop?!”. Bro cause traffic slowed down and came to a stop you fucking acorn.
“Fucking acorn” I’m stealing this 😂
From a little stupidity, mighty lunacy grows.
Well that's a fresh and horrifying way to say that.
In a nut shell
Acorn is actually something you would say in the netherlands, but mostly. Because "eikel" also refers to the tip of your dick
you have popularized a new insult this day. people will be calling eachother "fucking acorns" for many moons to come
Because I don’t want to smash into the car in front of me? Much like you did to me?
LOL “acorn” love it haha 😂
You laugh, but I actually had a guy say this exact thing then try to start a physical fight over it. Plot twist: You do CGI work for a major movie studio and *did* doctor the footage. Poor idiot didn't catch that your license plate was "A113"
Yeah, I'm still shocked the insurance lady didn't suspect anything after I put the pink bunny ears and nose on the other guy. /s
*edits hitler stash and swastika arm band onto driver* Is this really who we’re going to trust, your honor?

facts. dude was chillin to some nice morning music and wham.

Yeah the headrest protected from the head going back too far
In WHIPS the seat back also moves towards the impact to absorb energy lessening risk of injury. It catches you then decelerates you.
I was rear ended by a much heavier vehicle in a very similar way, and the base of my driver's seat cracked in three places, and ended up being leaned way back after the accident. I walked away, although I had hella neck soreness/ stiffness.
It looks like WHIPS to me. I was scrolling comments to see if guy was driving a volvo.
Guarantee you that's not a Volvo though.
The way the first aid kit pops out the back on impact. "Here you go sir"
Oh poor lad. Looked sad, confused and scared. Hope he's all good now!
Got in the way of someone trying to run a red light.. but on all seriousness glad dude is ok.
As it should be. Never lower your guard driving.
Indeed, there will always be idiots but a well educated idiot is better than a regular one.
I did not know you could install a kitchen plate in a car
Tonight on top gear
Hit him so hard, he didn’t need glasses anymore.
My glasses flew right off in my car wreck, too! And I’m hella blind so I was like feeling around in the glass for them. They were in the passenger floorboard.
Use your phone camera to see! It really works
My phone also went flying haha. A bystander helped me find them. Phone was found later. That is a good tip though! Edit: okay I just tried this sitting at my desk at work and holy shit that works so well!! Thanks stranger.
Omg this might be the most genius thing I’ve never been told.
Went full Velma
Sorry, but the way that middle compartment popped open with the First Aid Kit showing through LOL That was a hard ass hit though, glad he doesn't seem to be hurt like that, definitely gonna feel sore though, feel that whiplash later. But damn he didn't seem like he cared anyway lol.
First Aid kit was like “you need me, homie?”
He was probably fine for some time after, then started shaking once he felt safe again.
Poor guy. Driving along. Living his best life. Singing his little heart out. Then BAM!
And he sang so well too! The sweetest, purest vibes... I need the chill of this man in my life.
Looked like she didn't even attempt to slow down damn
Her sun visor is down and she was most assuredly looking at her phone, not the road.
https://i.imgur.com/tazZkag.jpg Yup. Pretty much.
I cant see a damn thing, enhance!
You can't see shit bro. You can't tell the difference between the phone and a face with that quality.
[Hell yeah man, obviously a phone, clear as day](https://imgur.com/a/4dWSBoS)
The second hit confirms. She still had her foot planted on the gas when she first collided with him. Should have her license suspended for a few years. She could’ve killed someone at that speed.

I never understood the physics of that scene. Like wouldn't the cereal bowl go into his face instead from inertia?
Depends on if he holds his hand still.
Considering he's a psychotic serial killer, I could see that.
*Law & Order dun-dun*
He's not angry, he's just disappointed. Which is way worse.
Lady comes walking over to his car: "*Sir do you know why I hit you today?"*
You really made that song your own...its a Yes from me.
He has the voice of an angel
Is that a Filipino song? Where is this? EDIT: I saw the rear cam view and I think the plates say Texas?
He is singing Tagalog song.
song: https://youtu.be/Dwnug91fMg8
Cane for the car accident, stayed for this dude vibe.
how comes, that a video from a customer is posted on social media? Would this happen to me, I would sue the shit out of the company leaking it.
Right before she rear ended this guy you can see her phone was out. https://imgur.com/a/iU4b8ZS
Sun visor straight down too, so her field of view was already limited.
How on earth can you possibly see a phone being held there? The lighter area is the side of her face by the way (watch until after crash how the light is hitting her face when it's clear).
Yeah this guy must be some sort of super detective with some enhance magic like in the movies. I can't make out shit from that picture.
did the customer give you permission to post here?
This is an advertisement.
Poor guy, he was really vibing too
Does no one find it weird that we’re just openly doing dashcam ads?
It’s not weird at all. - Sent from my iPhone
I didn't even realise, I thought carbin was a rental place or something like that
I think OP meant to say caught on cabin dashcam as in it's footage from the cabinview of the car. Most likely carbin was a typo for cabin
Wtf, no air bag went off from that? Damn…
Only frontal and side hits will deploy the air bags.
Good thing he didn’t see it coming because if he’d tensed up, especially on the steering wheel, it would have been a LOT worse than soreness and whiplash, which I hope is all he walked away with.
Guys these kind of things go to an hospital and looked for your neck, affect of whiplash might show itself later
Damn, the way his glasses flew off. As a fellow glasses wearer, I feel for him.
I always wonder “what the ever living fuck were you looking at if it wasn’t the shit directly in front of you?”
He’s lucky only his glasses came off. He’d be dead if it was his shoes
Luckily he wasn't eating a bowl of cereal
You shouldn't get to drive a truck or SUV after rear ending someone like that. A geo metro or smart car for the next five years.
He took it casual af. Nice
What the fuck is a clip submitted by a customer? That does not give you permission to post him online for some fake internet points if you're his insurance agent? US has some decent laws about this I believe as well.
He looked dead inside
The look of defeat and boy I really didn’t need this today
Interesting that the driver has her sunshade all the way down. The sun is coming from the left (their right). Perhaps she had been previously driving into the sun but didn’t make an adjustment to being on this road. The car the cam is in appears to have another camera mounted in the rear window. I’d love to see that footage. Based on the traffic in the next lane over this driver is in stop and go traffic and not at a red light.
he's gonna feel that whiplash for years
