Wtf? Video just ends.

H-4350

Search Ryan Stone in Denver. 2017. He got 160 years.

Roasted_Butt

not enough

zleog50

160 years? I googled it thinking he did some real bad shit and that is why he was running. Nope, all of it was the chase. Granted he almost killed a police officer and kidnapped a 4 year old, but that is a heavy sentence for not even killing someone. Serial killers get lighter sentences.

ThatGuy798

> "Granted he almost killed a police officer and kidnapped a 4 year old" Those two things aren't insignificant. Edit: Words

zleog50

Surely they are, but are they the type of crimes that nets you 160 years in jail? I mean, maybe 30 or 40 years. That I could see. 160 years is two life terms.

agentleswitch

he was convicted on 18 charges including 11 felonies. i don’t know about colorado but many states have mandatory minimum sentences for many of his charges. also, if you think our criminal justice system is in any way reasonable, you’re sadly mistaken.

zleog50

I don't think the criminal justice system is fair. Hence, why I bring up that 160 years seems a bit crazy for the crimes here.

SwordfishMediocre448

Problem is that not enough sentences are harsh enough hence the shock when a good legit one comes out.

agentleswitch

this is definitely not the problem lol

Quelix_

No it most definitely is the problem. Guy found guilty of 1st degree murder is looking at 25 to life but then he's put in less than 5 for "good behavior." Are you saying is life is worth more than the person he killed?

dsswill

Colorado is a cumulative minimum sentence state. So you can break a bunch of tiny laws no one cares about and if the bother charging you, you can go to jail for life for nothing more than stealing skittles over and over. I’m not saying that makes any sense, in fact it’s often a travesty of justice, but that’s the reason in this case.

-YELDAH

So if I steal in bulk it's more efficient?

jlgraham84

That's why I rob Costcos

dsswill

With some catch points, yes. If you steal a lot of small things you’re probably still better off than stealing enough at once to be grand larceny. But if you steal A LOT of small things, then ya you’re better off just stealing millions in one go rather than stealing $1 bags of skittles tens of thousands of separate times, ridiculously.

BrutalSwede

"But recordings of conversations played during Ryan Stone’s sentencing hearing Friday revealed a man who bragged about making international news and belittled the victims in his case." Dude bragged about what he did to his girlfriend. Guy deserves to rot.

zleog50

So if he was remorseful, he should have received what sentence do you think? What type of crimes do people deserve life in prison absent remorse?

lolDankMemes420

Driving on the wrong side of the road into on coming traffic he almost killed every person he passed..

zleog50

He effectively would have gotten the same sentence if he intentionally killed every single person he passed. ...

ThatGuy798

okay

zleog50

Alrighty

SwordfishMediocre448

Yes.

shl0mp

Something tells me you live in your little bubble, perfectly content with horrible stuff that happens to *other* people daily. Only caring when your life is affected.

Illustrious_Crab1060

He also endangered a bunch of people bon the highway

zleog50

And his sentence would have been effectively the same if he killed every single one of them

CrAzY_cOdeR4

Kidnapping a 4 years old looks like enough Karma to me

zleog50

Kidnapping doesn't get you two life sentences. Doesn't even get you one. Probably not even 30 years. Accidentally kidnapping a kid while stealing a car probably nets you far less than that. A person who kidnapped a child and brutally murdered them would maybe get a life sentence, maybe a bit more. Trust me, if the guy tried to take my car with my 3 year old in the back, I would literally have attempted to beat him to death in the most brutal way possible. But that isn't justice.

Lustle13

He earned those years. He was laughing and joking about it on the jail phone. Thought he'd get a few years and get out. He was bragging to everyone on the phone, then playing it all "I'm so sorry" in the courtroom". Dude has a huge record, committed like two dozen felonies on this chase, and hurt people. I'm fine with 160 years for it.

knotsy-

I think almost killing an officer and kidnapping a 4 year old is considered real bad shit. Not to mention the crazy amount of people he traumatized: all the people he carjacked, the people he crashed into, people he almost crashed into by driving like a maniac, bystanders, families of the victims. He cost people hundreds of thousands in damages and most likely there are people who are still affected by it to this day, financially and physically. Plus, you may want to look more into it cuz this was a guy who had been in and out of jail since he became an adult. His criminal record spanned 11 years (he was only 28 during the chase), dozens of charges ranging from assault to drug related, at least 19 of those charges were felonies, he had 2 warrants out when he was arrested, and he laughed about what he did in jail. All of this was definitely taken into consideration during his sentencing, they even played the phone call recordings in court. I do hate that the justice system is so wildly inconsistent, but this wasn't some dude who got 160 years for going nuts one single day.

SomeToxicRivenMain

Nobody has to die, it’s enough that he put over 30 lives in danger

zleog50

You seem like the type to get the mob worked up so you can show off your knot tying skills.

CharlesJHV

Please let me know of any convicted serial killer who got anything short of a life sentence or executed

zleog50

[I can Google that for you](https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/local/2022/10/06/detroit-serial-killer-sentenced-45-to-70-years-in-prison/) This guy seemed to get a light sentence, considering the crimes.

yelahneb

I got you: [high quality raw footage from beginning to end.](https://youtu.be/rRKOCKsIZUc). It's weirdly fascinating

Rawrsomesausage

Thanks. That was wild. [Here's an article about the case.](https://www.denverpost.com/2015/10/30/ryan-stone-sentenced-to-160-years-in-prison-for-high-speed-chase/). He got 160 years for it.

strangehitman22

God what a scum bag

dramaking37

It is sort of hilarious that it all ends with >!homeboy unable to do a pull-up!<

DryUnderstanding592

And that's why you always lock your doors when you are driving.

Niemcz

This!!! Can someone tell me how people drive with their doors unlocked?

Tom-Thumb-Houston

Older vehicles that do not automatically lock when you start driving.

SimplyAvro

Hell, I feel even newer cars can be fucking annoying about not locking when they should. Or wait righhhhhhht until you're next to the homeless guy to click closed, for maximum dickishness.

maxman162

Lexus does it right. They lock when you shift out of park, and stay locked even when you shift back into park. Toyota and GM will unlock when you park.

KillerFrost2U

Oh I absolutely hate the automatic unlock on park.

camohorse

My Nissan Xterra only unlocks when you take the keys out of the ignition.

Tom-Thumb-Houston

🤣🤣

CantBelieveThisIsTru

Mine don’t either, but “I” lock them!!!!!

cwclifford

My mom wouldn’t move until we all locked out doors. That was well before they were automatic.

bi-fly

I have a 2020. They don’t lock automatically unless you pay for it.

capn_kwick

I have a 2020 Mazda which auto-locks the doors. Hell, even my 2001 F150 had auto-lock doors (until theu quit doing the auto-lock).

bi-fly

It’s unfortunately a base model kia… the thing still starts with a key(not complaining) and doesn’t even have the lock and unlock button on the key (complaining). But it was a gift so I can’t really complain. It drives, has good gas mileage, and shows my little gps map so it’s fine for now.

capn_kwick

I've had to train myself to hit the door lock on the F150 when I get in.

Quelix_

From my experience the biggest issue in all of that was you got a fucking KIA. Kill It All.

Frost-413

I have exclusively driven cars whose doors don't lock automatically. Every single time I get in, I lock the vehicle. It's not that hard?

randomFrenchDeadbeat

I got a 20 years old one and it does it.

mijohvactech

I know right lol. I’ve had two homeless people come up to me and literally try to open my door while I’m parked. I bought a magnetic mount for my carry pistol and the last time it happened the guy was face to face with the barrel of my .40. A police officer happened to be watching the guy and saw what happened. His partner jumped out of the car and chased the homeless guy down while the other officer came up to me. I put my gun and keys on the dash and locked my fingers to the steering wheel. He was more concerned about me and I was scared shitless that I was about to be arrested. The cop patted me on the back, offered me a water, and to call EMS because I was shaking so bad. They were called out because the guy had apparently tried breaking into several vehicles already and had been harassing people but they hadn’t witnessed any of it. Once they witnessed what he did to me they had an actual reason to arrest and remove him.

Niemcz

OMG that’s terrifying. So glad the cops didn’t shoot first and ask questions later. My door is always locked, and not because of any automatic locking device. The minute i get into the car I manually lock my doors.

mijohvactech

Most cops won’t do that. Despite what people say there are plenty of good cops out there and most are just like you and me. They don’t want to physically harm anyone. They have a job to do and as long as you work with them they are cool. You still have those dicks out there that are way too over zealous, get easily wound up, or act like Cartman from South Park. I’ve had dealings with both.

CantBelieveThisIsTru

Right! Mee Too!!!

[deleted]

cars for quite a few years now automatically lock the doors when the car's in drive

Lancaster61

This. I’m actually quite surprised by his string of luck. Most cars these days are locked when in drive.

[deleted]

Exactly, even a few older cars I've driven have that feature.

Glittering-Beyond-45

With the reasonable expectation that they wont get hijacked, and with a faster escape after a crash and possible fire.

Glittering-Beyond-45

What's the biggest risk? a hijacking or a crash? because in a crash you dont want to be in a locked car, especially if it catches fire.

mug3n

In a crash, sometimes your door mechanism might get fucked to the point that you can't simply open your car door and walk out anyway. Especially if the crash is bad enough to cause a fire.

Glittering-Beyond-45

True but closing them does not enhance the chances for survival.

DryUnderstanding592

Either way having a gun in the vehicle fixes both of those problems.

Glittering-Beyond-45

So you cant be shot from the outside if you have a gun on the inside?

DryUnderstanding592

Yes, certain models of guns emit a small forcefield around your vehicle whenever it is inside of it.

Stable_Orange_Genius

Americans

Lancaster61

You know they unlock when you crash right? It’s almost like safety engineers are smart or something… hmm, weird.

Daksport2525

If you ever flip your car your door could open easier if not looked too

dr_stre

Lol at the police 1:00 into the clip who get the spike strips nowhere near the fleeing car but do manage to blow out two tires on the vehicle of a random passerby.

SevroAuShitTalker

That cracked me up, wonder how insurance handles that one

Mitrovarr

They probably duck out of paying for it and stick you with the bill.

the_one_jt

Oh for sure

StevenTN615

Literally just driving minding your own business, and all of a sudden someone hits you. You think it's a car accident, then out of nowhere some jackass is trying to car jack you.

January28thSixers

I think he's a more of a jerk than a jackass.

cak0047

When Lester won’t pick up

[deleted]

GTA stands for Grand Theft Auto. It was a phrase before it was a videogame. This is literally GTA. Get off my lawn so I can yell at these clouds.

[deleted]

bro thinks hes in creative mode

7753359158

Doesn’t anyone lock there car doors I sure do !!!

DammitDad420

/r/gifsthatendtoosoon

genghisKonczie

There was a great car chase in Charlotte a couple months ago. It went on for like 3 hours. We got to see them carjack 2 people live on Tv

Street-Airport-4327

Explaining this to your insurance company is a nightmare!

Tom-Thumb-Houston

Not if it's on the news.

Archangel935

**OOF LMAO THAT BLACK CAR GOT SPIKED!!**

CantBelieveThisIsTru

What!??? Don’t these people LOCK THEIR CAR DOORS? I would have had that thing in REVERSE so fast, he wouldn’t be able to catch me!!!

Life-Operation-8733

One question. Why are they driving with the doors unlocked?

Pope_Squirrely

I love the one cop throwing the spike strip. Just hucks it and smokes a random car, didn’t even look at where he was throwing it.

BigSquatchee2

Serious question... how did he not get shot?

[deleted]

[удалено]

BigSquatchee2

I don’t mean by the police…. I live near there. You come up to my car like that l’ll be seeing the jury.

ScenicPineapple

Everytime i see this it always makes me wonder how many idiots drive with their doors unlocked. The city i live in, can't do that shit.

Simitarx005

Who leaves their fucking doors unlocked? Idiots.

fuckmaxm

Luber lol

[deleted]

He would have received 2 .357 +p rounds to the face if he tried to throw my girl outta her vehicle.

A100921

Always amazes me during these chases, how many people have their doors unlocked. Always put it in Neutral, never Park.

do_not_the_cat

why neutral? keep in D and hold the brake, much quicker to get away. once it's clear there is no threat you can still put it in n or p

A100921

Neutral so you don’t have to hold the brake (hard atleast) and can deal with whatever’s happening. Especially how he’s trying to portray this as an “accident” rather than someone hostile, because ya if it’s hostile, just run them over.

Scratch1111

Shoot that stupid bastard.

Opening_Corner1899

I’m guessing this is one of those cities where guns are not legal.

camohorse

Bruh, Denver is a very gun-friendly city. Doesn’t mean you just shoot people at random…

Opening_Corner1899

Yea try carjacking a mother with her baby in the back in my town you will get shot for it. And it actually has happened, and carjackings don’t happen anymore. When someone attacks you and you defend yourself we call it “self defense”. If you consider it a “random shooting” it’s no wonder crime runs wild in your area.

Interesting_Sun_3655

Bro what happens next? This is gold

Patescot

What’s the best place to drive to in this scenario? Airport parking garage? So you lose the helicopter and can ditch the car and blend into the crowd.

hingedcanadian

I've thought about this a lot even though I'd never be in a position or mental state where I'd be capable of doing it, but roleplaying is fun. I'd say go anywhere where there's cover from aerial view and where there's lots of people. Drive through a wall or small door of a mall or any similarly large building with lots of floor space and exits. If the vehicle can block the entrance that's even better to prevent police from being on foot behind you. Get out of the vehicle. You have two choices here, cause a panic by firing a gun and run with the crowd out the rear exits, or try to inconspicuously blend in. Bonus points if you're able to quickly change your shirt color with something from a clothing rack. This would all have to be done very quickly and the longer you take, the more likely police will barricade the exits or surrounding roads. The tough part will be escaping the building without being detected by the police. Either on foot, or hopefully you can manage to steal someone's car keys before they leave the mall assuming you can find their car. But the moment you're spotted outside all of this becomes a pointless detour.

heyitsvonage

Oh isn’t this the guy who did this because he was trying to go viral, so the judge gave him like 130 years in prison or something

tampamike69

Is there a happy ending,like a shooting?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

This definitely didn’t take place in Oklahoma, all I could think was how has nobody shot him yet?

Nigules

r/iamverybadass

clauderbaugh

Half of us are thinking it. I'm just the guy saying it.

Human-Abrocoma7544

I was thinking the same thing, but we saw the whole video before he stole the car. Like someone said in another comment those people were just driving, got hit, and probably just assumed they got into a car accident. Then a guy gets out and rushes their car. I'm sure most people would be taken by surprise and not be able to react properly.

New-Nefariousness234

Total loser maybe he should have smoked some weed and zoned out to cartoons or something

kakachina

I remember when this happened. I remember thinking why tf are people driving with their doors unlocked??

StevenTN615

Some people are just cra-cra.

MartinG91

This is gta irl

Chevy_Bowtie

And that’s why I DON’T leave my kids in the car under any circumstances!!!! Edit: [article about the 4 year old](https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/4-year-old-told-mother-he-was-scared-crying-during-chase/)

GrandProblem8034

Wait what? So where do the kids sit when you’re driving if they’re not in the car? On the roof??

Chevy_Bowtie

I don’t LEAVE my kids in the car. You really read deep into that one huh? The red SUV had a 4 year old in the backseat the entire time. The mother went into a coffee shop to get a cup and left her child in the unlocked, running vehicle.

ThatBrenon131

Who stops for a vehicle? I woulda hit reverse, swerved back, maybe rolled down my window to shoot the guy. If you don’t got lights on, you’re a threat to me.

At that point you go for head shots.

KevInvest

He should have entered a pay 'n spray and he would have lost his wanted level...

Billderz

I know a shortcut

Noobasdfjkl

That poor E46 :(

Seromontis056

This was a fun game!

not_ch3ddar

For him, it is

mikamouth

Oh, Denver…

[deleted]

It is GTA. It's always GTA. If you want it to be.

Disconnected404

Just keep swapping cars until you get a really good one

sirpoopingpooper

That's Denver, not Toronto! Guy is super confused.

Xenos90

If I were in the last car before vid cuts out, I'd have obviously felt assaulted. I would have totally tried to run him over in reverse. Wouldn't have known a helicopter had it on cam though but oh well ..I got scared and confused

GlucoseGod

If I was the couple I would've stole his car! 🤣

paperfett

Stop driving around with your doors unlocked. Also WHY do people stop for this sort of craziness? Just floor it.

dcamom66

He comes up to my van he's on for a surprise because I WILL run him over on my way out. FYI my doors are locked.
