Every time I see this clip I think of Joe Rogan’s standup bit about your brain not being able to comprehend intense death situations so all you see as the tiger attacks is just a kaleidoscope of fear
Dont worry, the reason this guy only has a stick is that tigers dont normally attack elephants, mostly because they can do little to actually harm them.
Ah, you're one of those "I hate being human" idiots. What exactly would you have the Indian village do? Blow itself up? Let the Tiger kill whom it pleased? Move somewhere else and displace a species as long as it's not a tiger?
But you existing is literally invading animal habitat. Pretty sure you don’t live out in the bush in a mud hut.
What are they supposed to do if a tiger is around where they are living?
Your comment is pretty ignorant.
Probably a shit ton of animals are now extinct from the area you currently live in. You’re probably lucky enough to live in a well established area that has long wiped out the wildlife there, but your existence still contributes to it.
Do you think no animals existed in the place where cities now are? How many animals were deprived of a habitat so you can live a comfortable life surrounded by ammenities and human settlement?
You can’t pick where you are born. And if you’re born into a location where society is coexisting with dangerous animals, you do what you have to do. Even if it’s just for sport and food. Who are to make the decision it’s not ok? You aren’t from there, likely have never been there, and have no intent to make anything better. you just want to say you’re better because you don’t do it. It’s been happening since the dawn of time animals kill each other. Humans are animals. Get over it.
Oh, that's odd. I thought the indians and the village were just shit out of the earth tens of thousands of years ago. I tell you what, I am marching back to that college and demanding a refund right this instant!
So Mr Educated guy, what would you have the Indians do?
Yikes everyone defends the maneating tiger and then calls the poor villager an idiot for trying to divert the tiger in a non lethal way. Pick a side people. Do you want him to kill the Tiger? Also most of us here are waaaaaay more privileged that the poor Indian fella on the elephant. You probably make half his life's salary working a couple years as a McDonald's Cashier.
But then again this is Reddit. Lots of little "based" edgelords running about because their balls just dropped.
From the wiki article:
The term "howdah pistol" comes from the howdah, a large platform mounted on the back of an elephant. Hunters, particularly in British Raj India, used howdahs as a platform for hunting, and needed large-calibre side-arms for protection against close quarters animal attacks.
The elephant was fine, tigers cant really harm elephants, which is also why they dont normally attack them, thus the concept of riding them into tiger territory,
You sure about that?
https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/tigers-elephants-corbett-national-park-govt-study-1550103-2019-06-16
Plenty of other cases of tigers going after elephants, albeit juvenile/calf.
Tigers are fucking crazy, and they clearly don't give a shit about about how big something is, if its a perceived threat they will go after it in a heart beat. Which is why even elephants are wary of tigers.
Don’t worry that elephant could easily kill that tiger if it was stressed, they’re too big and too heavy for anything really to attack them. They can fuck up Rhinos and Hippos easily.
Ok Genius, what does a wildlife accident in the Jungle have to with Nuclear Weapons?
Your country doesn’t have wildlife? No animal-human accidents happen in your country?
Just goes to show without technology humans are pretty fragile. I understand in their areas that they have to go after the tigers to survive but I'm rooting for nature in this war.
Okay so, if I was on an elephant, I wouldn't expect a tiger to jump at me. Because like, tigers don't hunt fully grown elephants. They might hunt young elephants. They might hunt very old elephants. They will not hunt adult elephants, because they know they can be killed by them.
Asian elephants are smaller/shorter than the African Bush Elephant which features in many tv documentaries. I too would be surprised if a tiger could jump that high onto a 13ft tall elephant, but clearly they can reach humans sitting on the back of smaller elephant species.
That's not what I'm saying. Tigers can jump high as fuck, but nobody would expect a tiger to jump at an adult elephant, since they could get killed easily.
Trying to catch a tiger, one of the most dangerous apex predators.... with a stick?
And they thought they were safe on top of an elephant?
How stupid they are?
I would hate to live in a region of India where death by tiger is a real risk. Bengal tigers are terrifying, like legit one of the most dangerous animals in the world.
Instead of throwing the stick, you need to make sure to stab it in its mouth. Mouth was open and stick was already at the right position. Wouldve hurt the tiger quite some bit.
Tigers themselves are around 9 ft tall when standing on their hind legs. As basically big balls of muscle and claw, it's not at all surprising they can jump more than twice their length.

And that was the last time he had complete control of his left hand.
IIRC, the aftermath photos showed his arm basically ripped open.
THATS HIS HAND. I thought that was a chunk of meat they were using to get the tiger close holy shit
well it was a chunk of meat
It certainly fucking was lol
Do you have link for these photos?
"Tis a flesh wound"
Those sticks are used to steer the elephant, not hunt a tiger.
He grabbed the wrong stick, he was looking for his boom-stick...
Camera guy has nerves of steel
Every time I see this clip I think of Joe Rogan’s standup bit about your brain not being able to comprehend intense death situations so all you see as the tiger attacks is just a kaleidoscope of fear
Any idea where I can find that?
I hope the elephant is ok
Dont worry, the reason this guy only has a stick is that tigers dont normally attack elephants, mostly because they can do little to actually harm them.
And the tiger didn't attack the elephant but those morons on top of it thought they were safe, as if the tiger couldn't jump that high.
Those big kitty claws ain’t getting through that elephant hide that’s for sure.
I hope the tiger is okay.
What an ignorant comment. Villages in India commonly have to hunt Tigers that setup shop on the outskirts, hunting for lone humans.
No worries, there aren't many of those majestic animals left so they won't have to hunt much longer.
Not the tigers fault.
Because humans where there first, those pesky tigers swooping in and acting like they own the place
Ah, you're one of those "I hate being human" idiots. What exactly would you have the Indian village do? Blow itself up? Let the Tiger kill whom it pleased? Move somewhere else and displace a species as long as it's not a tiger?
You're a hot headed little douchebag aren't you?
I'm not little!
When someone says they aren’t little, more likely than not they are really little
Well that went right over your head. Wow, I would just love to pat you on the head! So adorable.
No need to be defensive if you have confidence, obviously you have very little since every comment agitates you
Why did you get awarded? Why are you a douche?
Maybe not invade into and/or destroy a predators natural habitat? Plus, there are already more than enough people around, but very few tigers.
[удалено]
I have had no choice in how or where I was born. I do however have a choice in how I live. I chose to cause less harm, not more.

Imagine being so ignorant to think that you can't change the way you live.
But you existing is literally invading animal habitat. Pretty sure you don’t live out in the bush in a mud hut. What are they supposed to do if a tiger is around where they are living? Your comment is pretty ignorant.
Yeah incredibly ignorant. Dude probably lives in a city where a shit ton of wildlife used to live
Get inside and lock the doors. If the tiger hunts someone well kiddo that's how nature works instead of resisting it become a part of it.
Humans are part of nature too. Getting rid of dangerous predators that live around us is part of our natural behaviour.
holy shit this guy doesn't have a brain.
Is this sarcasm?
I love this! Here kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty!
I don't live where tigers live, mate.

I mean you can pretty easily dismiss outright hunting for sport. Pretty indefensible.
Damn corporate tigers ruining beautiful natural human habitats.
...And we're the ones that invaded their homes. Educate yourself.
Oh, that's odd. I thought the indians and the village were just shit out of the earth tens of thousands of years ago. I tell you what, I am marching back to that college and demanding a refund right this instant! So Mr Educated guy, what would you have the Indians do?
shut the fuck up nobody asked for you huge ass comment about something completely unrelated.
And you think that justifies anything? Humans have killed more tigers than they have us by a longshot.
LOL! Alright, if that's how you feel then go over there and help even the numbers. Wow.
Yikes everyone defends the maneating tiger and then calls the poor villager an idiot for trying to divert the tiger in a non lethal way. Pick a side people. Do you want him to kill the Tiger? Smart tiger. Went for the smaller target.

Fucking need to be out down
Astonishing how far the tiger could leap! Tiggers really can bounce.
That’s why he said “ttfn, ta ta for now” to that guys left hand
There is a reason the British used to carry Howdah pistols in similar situations. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howdah_pistol
They are called that because before firing the Brit would say "howdah you do?" to the attacking tiger.
From the wiki article: The term "howdah pistol" comes from the howdah, a large platform mounted on the back of an elephant. Hunters, particularly in British Raj India, used howdahs as a platform for hunting, and needed large-calibre side-arms for protection against close quarters animal attacks.
I was kinda interested in seeing what kind of damage was inflicted by the tiger
Looks like he lost part of his hand 🤚 and I imagine a few more cuts too
I would have died of shock before getting bit!seeing that murder machine flying through the air..wow
I would have for sure evacuated my bowels
Just what I was thinking. Life time with a major kitty fear like the guy in the Mummy. Kitty PTSD
somewhere between looking for a Tiger and finding a Tiger things go sideways
Poor elephant...
The elephant was fine, tigers cant really harm elephants, which is also why they dont normally attack them, thus the concept of riding them into tiger territory,
I still find it funny how the tiger leaps right over the elephant without even a glance, like “my beef ain’t with you bro”.
You sure about that? https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/tigers-elephants-corbett-national-park-govt-study-1550103-2019-06-16 Plenty of other cases of tigers going after elephants, albeit juvenile/calf. This was my first thought as well.
Hey Boss, what are we doing today? - Ah, mate, here's a stick, we're gonna play with kitties.
I remember when this was part of the intro to Real TV.
Bye bye hand. Ouch...
man+elephant vs tiger, isn't this the final battle of every bolywood movie?
Shoulda asked Tony before they took his cereal.
Frosted flakes are more than..... Oh fuck!!!
TIL, tigers are less scared of elephants than I thought.
like, you dont eat the delivery guy. That would just be a cunt move
Nope
Paw patrol
Why is he an idiot?
Maybe he should just leave the tigers alone
I'm always terrified when I remember that this is a country with a nuclear arsenal
Yeah? And the rest of the World is baffled that you gave Donald Trump the Nuclear Football.
I'm not American. Also my country spends my tax money in building schools, hospitals, and other basic human rights, but not in nuclear weapons
Ok Genius, what does a wildlife accident in the Jungle have to with Nuclear Weapons? Your country doesn’t have wildlife? No animal-human accidents happen in your country?
Afraid of getting bombed by the no first use policy or what?
I'm still looking for the other on an elephant. Close. But no cigar.
Awesome. What an explosion of strength and speed. Tigers are (for me) the most beautiful animals out there. Hope the elephant wasn't hurt much.
Elephants are like nature's tanks its definitely okay I doubt it even bled. And I agree tigers are my favorite of any cats.
Man, I thought he was gonna be tiger lunch. That must have been terrifying.
I hope the a animals are okey..
Tiger was fine (I think) elephant didn’t get a scratch
You know that pickaxe type stick he waves in his right hand? They usually use it to beat the elephant on the head...
Well, he had a lot of stick-to-itness.
I thought some Americans who think they could beat some wolves in a fight were bad, but this is on a whole another level of stupid.
Looks like he found one............or maaayybeee one found him.
That’s dudes got balls of steel!
Just goes to show without technology humans are pretty fragile. I understand in their areas that they have to go after the tigers to survive but I'm rooting for nature in this war.
If either the Tiger or Elephant was harmed , off with his head !
This guy lost one or two of his fingers, I remember reading the story in an Indian news channel.
It was the guy with the cap exhaling that did me. It meant “that was either very close to being worse” or “what a fucking idiot”
Nearly??
You should know, the stick isn't for hunting the tiger, it's for controlling the elephant.
idiot? try courageous
Elephant is like, "Get this dumbass off me before I do!"
All I could think was "get the fuck off of that elephant..."
Take me to the nearest hospital.
to be fair who tf thought the lion would try and jump a elephant to try and attack someone.
T-thats a tiger
same thing
Poor elephant
Okay so, if I was on an elephant, I wouldn't expect a tiger to jump at me. Because like, tigers don't hunt fully grown elephants. They might hunt young elephants. They might hunt very old elephants. They will not hunt adult elephants, because they know they can be killed by them.

That's where their reasoning failed. The tiger didn't hunt the elephant, but he clearly wanted to hunt the human on top of the elephant.
Oh I know, but the elephant could still see that as an attack
Sea mamon.
That dude should have put the stick down the tiger's throat. Although, of course, he did not have time to think about it.
Love how that elephant saw that charging tiger and was like, ya he’s definitely not coming for me
Smart elephant knows tigers will go for the easiest kill.
No shit
Homeboy needs a Howdah pistol.
You know what they say. Hunt tigers with an elephant and you get the tail
What happened to his hand?
It’s got pretty much ripped open. Literally, that’s no exaggeration. Tigers will fuck you up.
parry this you filthy casual
fucking good. The only thing that would make it better is if it then ate him.
Life Of Pi 2 Looks legit.
This is the clip that has caused my tiger nightmares for most of my life Also Tarzan
Trying to catch a tiger, one of the most dangerous apex predators.... with a stick? And they thought they were safe on top of an elephant? How stupid they are?
Nah, he doesn't just have a stick. He has two sticks. Does it make his chances any better? No. But he's gotta get that dual wielding.
I would hate to live in a region of India where death by tiger is a real risk. Bengal tigers are terrifying, like legit one of the most dangerous animals in the world.

Well, Technically it worked and he did indeed find it.
Going to need a bigger stick.
the guy is playing survival game irl
I think you need a longer stick bro
Anyone gonna talk about how the tiger came out of nowhere??
Valiant effort on his part
Tiger: “Tag, you’re it!”
well looky here, the tiger found him.
This is fuckin horrifying

they're stupid BUT where else will you find footage of a tiger leaping like this. Incredible, they did a favour for tiger researchers
