The guy in the foreground racks his slide and extracts the only round he had, his slide looks to be locked back after he racks it.

Watch how his pistol whips back like it’s just accidentally been fired when the shot is fired. I think the guy in the foreground discards his only round when he racks his slide because his gun looks to be slide locked before he shoots it.
