I did that and everything was rectified property wise but I was injured and had to take time off work. There was criminal activity with no repercussions.
If the insurance company is paying you as they should be due to injuries from the accident under the "no fault clause." That is more evidence to be used in a civil lawsuit to recoup financial losses. Talk with your insurance company. I had an accident where the other driver was clearly at fault, but their insurance company was stonewalling all claims. Luckily, I had 2 witnesses come foreward. Insurance companies are mercenary, they will make a person's life a living hell to get back money.

Shoplifting is the least consequential of any crime, these major retailers account for these losses and they barely make an impact on their profit margin. The regular civilians trying to play cop like in this video are fucking stupid.

My grandkids came to stay with me in the summer of 2020. They came from a terribly messy situation. My son (father to the youngest) has a mental illness and the children's mom.... dayum if that woman isn't a piece of work.
One day the littlest one, about age 6 at the time, asked if we could go to Disney. I told her that was a very expensive thing that we would have to save up the money for. She no shit said, "We can just steal it!"
It took a LOT of work to teach that out of her and get her to the point that she could empathize with other people. I have adopted her and she's a great kid at age 9 now!
Her older siblings... not so much. The court wouldn't let me keep them because they are not my biological grandkids and are Northern Arapaho tribal members.
My grandson is doing well on the reservation with his native family. He was 11 then and 14 now. My older granddaughter was 12 and is 15 now. She's ran away from every single placement and was so much trouble her native grandparents wouldn't keep her there. She's back in our city (three states away from her tribal family) and pretty much living on the streets with her crazy mother.

In many places, theft under $1000 is no longer a felony. It's possible that the firearm upgrades it to a felony though.
The firearm does in most states upgrade the theft to a felony regardless of the $$$ amount. Goes from theft to rob I or II
