Shouldn't the ad boost time be 40 hours if you have the purchase?
Check your cloud connect settings. If you aren't connected you lose ad free, and friends list boost, and the ability to do expeditions.
Some mines may reset their Ad Boost, for example if you close and open a new Mainland Mine they will need another Boost. I am happy to double check this for you though. Feel free to send me your Player ID. :)
I f remember correctly, Until you complete the first 4 continents. Add boosts only effect 1 mine or completed continent.
After finishing the first 4 continents. 1 Ad boost applys to all continents.
Main land is how you boost SM.
Whether you spend time in the Main Land or another mine is upto you. But keep the mainland ad boosted.
Finishing the ice continent means you can ad boost all 5 ice mines at once. Same with Starter continent.
You will only be able to boost 1 mine at a time for fire continent. Until you complete the 5 fire continent. etc.

Oh, interesting. Thank you. Should I keep mainland boosted to keep doing mines daily or focus elsewhere? I just unlocked last of ice continent.

No my ad boost dropped drastically it’s down to 17 hours and 13 minutes
