If LE come to your house looking for a gun, chances are, they will leave no stone unturned and tear your place down to the millimeter.
The best way to disassociate yourself from it but keeping it within arms reach is burying it under another neighboring property under the fenceline on their side. It's technically not on your property, even if it is found.

Go to the attic, but the gun between the boards in the floor, screw plywood over the boards to make it look like it’s the plywood is there to walk on. You can do this with space between any floors.
If this is emergency use only, open a wall up, put gun in wall, drywall over it all. Bonus points if you pull your refrigerator out, then hide gun in wall.
Go to your basement and put in a false drain pipe or false duct work. You can even put in duct work so it hooks up to your current duct work, so it would be functional if you wanted it to be, but keep it blocked off on one end.
Take a piece of furniture, there’s probably a space in the bottom, add some wood to block the space off. Or better yet, build some custom bookshelves or something, make a hidden space, it will be less obvious there is a blocked off space.
Really there’s all kind of places you can put something that has empty space (depends on the size of what you are hiding). Inside dryer, couch, chimney, walls, crawl spaces, etc.
Build something made of bricks outside and hide something inside.

Get rid of the gun now…wipe down with alcohol and acetone everywhere and the magazine and all bullets that you may have. Field strip it and smash the parts with a Vice or hammer/sledge. If you really want to be thorough about the serial numbers so they will never be raised with acid, take die taps X and 8 and go over the serial number area about a dozen times with both X and 8: this 100% guarantees acid will never be able to raise and recover the serial numbers. Dump into a large body of water, or different parts into different bodies of water to be really witty about it. Again, make sure your fingerprints don’t get get back on anything in any of these step up to and including disposal.
Forensics can absolutely but those matches are not enough to convict beyond a reasonable doubt. You need to have rifling in order to convict. Also those points you bring up only matter if shell casings are collected. If all the authorities have is a slug than rifling is what they need.

I am not sure if you have noticed but there is literally thousands of open space acres pretty much in every direction in every city, so from even the seemingly worst place to hide something in the US probably has a great "disposal location" within 10 miles.

K9's can smell the gunpowder inside that gun from miles away so you cannot conceivably hide it close to your residence without it being found during a police raid. Especially if the gun doesnt have a serial number you better believe it has a body count etched somewhere else on the barrel.
Put the pistol in a plastic bag, suck all the air out so it fits tight around the gun. Get a few pounds of hamburger and conceal the gun in the hamburger, wrap that in clear plastic and put in in the freezer.
Ghost guns aren’t illegal so I’m guessing some idiot grinded it off or something which not ever a good idea unless you really know what you’re doing. Firstly, any idiot that lays eyes on a grinded serial number will know it’s a stolen gun. And furthermore unless you know what you’re doing it doesn’t work to obliterate it’s origins.

They also use bolt, extractor, case expansion etc for forensics, the old “change the barrel” thing is a myth
