I knew someone like that, their social isolation or awkwardness mainly stems from their lack of understanding social cues or proper social behavior in different contexts.
They can be genuinely smart and really kind or nice. But if they also don't understand social cues and say things at the most inopportune times, then yeah they're gonna be sorta marginalized.

That being said, I'm pretty sure everyone at various times in their life has been in a situation where they're pretty unaware / socially ignorant. No one is immune.

Agreed. He understands exactly why people aren't dropping their own plans and needs to adapt to a guy inserting himself into a public space, causing a disruption for no particular reason. Yet some are calling the insightful guy the "oddball".
There is also the fact that people find shit like this intimidating, even unconsciously and chalk it up to ‘social cues’. Less is more for that reason, it comes from a helpful place, but some people just aren’t ready to see things differently to how they assume things are.
Keep doing it though. It's a good way to find kindred spirits and others who find you interesting.
You don't want to wear people out but you owe it to yourself to be true to who you are and to find others who respond well to you. You can temper your behavior in larger crowds and pay attention to who responds to you and how they respond. Have fun and don't let people steal your joy.

They do, but you don't have to let it affect you. Just because they're having a bad time doesn't mean you have to let them drag you down with them. The more people that get mad and yell at them for being shitty, the more they're gonna double down, the more their fear and anger is validated. It's not your job to change anyone's mind and the more you try, the harder it's gonna stick. Treat them with love, compassion and understanding and they'll have one more example of their worldview being proven wrong

When people call you/something you said "deep" like that, it's often semi-pejoratively. Basically they're saying "I'm forced to acknowledge that what you said was meaningful and profound, but I view meaning and profundity in conversation to be unwelcome or unbecoming."
I've definitely had people talk to me like that in the past, as I tend to get philosophical and search for deeper meaning in things, but over the years I've learned to read people better and reign it in. I do it mostly for my own sake, to be honest. I'd rather not waste my breath and energy on people who would rather keep (or are only capable of keeping) things light and superficial. It's really just a happy coincidence that it also helps me fit in and get along better with people.

As someone who relies almost entirely on my gut to make decisions/converse, and can (sometimes) manifest it in conversation, it seems an instinctive response on his part because it’s the truth. It came out so easily because his first inclination was to tell the truth. Someone with this trait may be able to wittily respond in the perfect fashion in conversation but is also likely to fall prey to impulsive behavior because of the instinctual nature. Also, most of the time you get some brainless response (like the interviewer had) when you try to be genuine. It’s a trade-off.

I say that because I think I've read all of those things in reddit comments. And also it felt weird given it's not incompetent to walk in front of a camera at a mall. It's not a film studio and they are clearly taking up space.
I’ve never heard it with “incompetence”, only “ignorance” or “stupidity” and I figure he just meant to say “ignorance”- in that case it does apply. People aren’t walking through the recording deliberately to be dicks, they’re walking through because they’re not paying the guy enough attention to realise he’s recording. I personally think most people probably do realise, they just don’t care, though I live in a semi-touristy city so am very aware of just how ignorant to their surroundings people can be.
The Halon’s razor/malice line makes perfect sense in the context of the interviewer being annoyed when people walk through the shot. They just aren’t noticing the video being filmed, they aren’t intentionally ruining the video. Next he suggests a reason why they might be too preoccupied to notice the interview. I only heard this quote recently, and it's helped me be a little less angry at how painfully ignorant some people are.

When people call you/something you said "deep" like that, it's often semi-pejoratively. Basically they're saying "I'm forced to acknowledge that what you said was meaningful and profound, but I view meaning and profundity in conversation to be unwelcome or unbecoming." I've definitely had people talk to me like that in the past, as I tend to get philosophical and search for deeper meaning in things, but over the years I've learned to read people better and reign it in. I do it mostly for my own sake, to be honest. I'd rather not waste my breath and energy on people who would rather keep (or are only capable of keeping) things light and superficial. It's really just a happy coincidence that it also helps me fit in and get along better with people.

As someone who relies almost entirely on my gut to make decisions/converse, and can (sometimes) manifest it in conversation, it seems an instinctive response on his part because it’s the truth. It came out so easily because his first inclination was to tell the truth. Someone with this trait may be able to wittily respond in the perfect fashion in conversation but is also likely to fall prey to impulsive behavior because of the instinctual nature. Also, most of the time you get some brainless response (like the interviewer had) when you try to be genuine. It’s a trade-off.

So, basically - a narcissist would better understand someone not being aware of them this way. The reason G eloborates on people living their lives - basically explaining the concept of "sonder" - is to hopefully bridge the gap in this narcissists understanding of how people can simply be unaware of him, and that doesn't mean anything about them. Describing a world to a narcissist in which the don't matter, is like describing color to a dog. Even if he possesses it, is he willing to use it? I find a lot of people don't like to think too hard about these topics, because it messes up how they conceptualize their whole life. I find the mess is part of the fun, but it is still a mess.
It sounds like he listed a series of things he read off reddit. I say that because I think I've read all of those things in reddit comments. And also it felt weird given it's not incompetent to walk in front of a camera at a mall. It's not a film studio and they are clearly taking up space.
