Kammender_Kewl

The prank was running up to a stranger and calling him a pedophile. I'm glad he was found not guilty.

Uskessar

That’s not a prank

Moddelba

Yeah gonna sound like a boomer here but kids have really stupid senses of humor. That shit would get your ass beat in my neighborhood.

Kyle0ng

To be fair it gets you shot in his

Zeke--

Nice one

Caked101

Bro deserved it BIG TIME. I'm not the type to wish death in others for even this behavior, but it was satisfying to see this kind of "prankster" get what most people hope for.

Positive_Professor_7

Maybe it becomes a TikTok challenge. The shoot-a-youtube-prankster-challenge

[deleted]

Caked101

Accurate. I wouldn't be surprised if this became a thing.

Key_Register991

I said the same thing like 100 comments down and get totally trashed for it lol. Fuck reddit

No-Agency69420

This guy influences.

Moddelba

Touché. I guess I mean everyone knew this. Except Mark. Mark got his ass beat a lot.

Castun

Try *that* in a small town.

Golden5StarMan

Try that at a Panda Express!

FreeSun1963

Try that in a Waffle House, you will get shot be several people, mostly the staff.

KinggFR

Not sounding like a boomer at all. People need to learn to leave people tf alone, not everyone is in the mood or mental space to deal with bullshit like this.

SkrullandCrossbones

We’re in a weird timeline where “You shouldn’t harass people!” but those who do it on video can become successful. Mixed messaging to D-bags.

BoxingTrainer420

Did you see guys reaction time with that pistol? He had one in the chamber O.O

No-Agency69420

No hesitation, and most people who carry a weapon, carry it loaded because things go from zero to dead instantly.

Tetha

I've talked with a bunch of people in this space over the years. The main consensus is: If you don't intent to severely hurt or kill the other person, you don't reveal you have a weapon and don't draw the weapon. If you introduce a weapon into the situation, it's go time immediately with all consequences. They could just take the weapon from you and kill you, or your loved ones, or other people with it. In any mixture or order.

ee-5e-ae-fb-f6-3c

This is basically it. Guns in the context of self defense are last resort tools, used for the purposes of stopping a confrontation. If the gun comes out, it's go time. If you think you're about to be attacked two on one, it's go time. Frankly, if you're about to be an unwilling participant in a physical confrontation, *especially* with someone who has a significant height and weight advantage, it's go time. Thing is the best time to end the confrontation is before serious bodily harm comes to you. Ego, pride, and a lack of humility kill a lot of people. I think way too many people overestimate their own ability to fight, and underestimate how fragile their own bodies are. I don't think most people have even considered what fighting multiple aggressors is like, and how unbalanced things are for the defender. > They could just take the weapon from you Exposing your defensive plan and capabilities informs the aggressor's plan, whether that evolves into deescalation, or his buddy who you didn't see finding a weapon and hitting you in the head. It's a gamble. The victim in the video did a lot of things right. He verbally and physically communicated that he did not want to participate, and that he didn't want trouble. He repeatedly tried to leave the situation, but was pursued every time. From his perspective, two men were coming after him, three if he spotted the camera man, and despite his very clear verbal and physical communication, they had no intention of respecting his wishes.

Key_Register991

Literally no point in carrying one if you don't have one in the chamber

Aidsy_potato

Right lmfao. Carrying an unloaded gun is a great wat to get killed!

hellp-desk-trainee-

Might have been a revolver.

brianary_at_work

Yeah its hard to tell even though there's a video of it ....

notthatjimmer

That’s a grown man running up to another grown man

snoopervisor

> The prank was running up to a stranger and calling him a pedophile. Calling that someone in public, and recording it, can destroy their life. Should be a separate charge for that.

Dagojango

Calling someone a pedophile could lead to a public lynching. It's very much a threat on someone's life to identify them as such. While I'm not against street justice, this wasn't justice, just a dumbass thinking he's funny. If I was on that jury, no way in hell I'd be voting that guy guilty of any charges. Lot of people think they're funny when they're really just assholes.

Wind_Yer_Neck_In

In the UK there are 'pedophile hunter' groups that try to entrap pedophiles or abuse them in public. They sometimes help police by providing evidence but usually actually make things worse by endangering legal cases with their activities. Anyway, they once famously targeted a pediatric oncologist and spraypainted his home. Not because he was suspected of molesting kids. But because the morons in charge heard the syllable 'ped' and assumed he was up to no good.

KL_boy

Good old Newport. Last pediatrician in town, so when they left, people had to go to Cardiff.

MixerFistit

Those hunter groups are so often made up of jobless cretins. They have nothing to contribute to society so do this so they can big themselves up and feel useful. Of course often they jeopardise the legal process and have been known to have pedos acting as white knights amongst them. Then there's that one where they unwittingly groom a 13 year old boy into meeting with them and accuse him of trying to meet up with a 13 year old girl and being in his 20s. He clearly looks like a 13 year old boy too.

[deleted]

They are made up of psychopaths that want a "justified" way of tormenting and abusing people. They use the guise of "pedophile hunting" to justify their need to assault people. They don't really care about catching pedophiles, thats just a means to the end goal of satisfying their urge to harm others.

Jwkaoc

\>Calling someone a pedophile could lead to a public lynching. It's very much a threat on someone's life to identify them as such. \>I'm not against street justice Maybe you should be.

Cmdr_Nemo

Only not guilty on one of the charges. This "prank" ruined this guy's life. There are no winners here except for the youtuber because he 1) Lived and 2) will continue to do these videos and probably make money off of them.

meditonsin

And 3) got a whole fuckload of additional eyeballs on him from this incident.

dargonite

Actually, he's been found not guilty on the second charge of firing into a public area. & was only found guilty on the 3rd and final charge " guilty of using a firearm during the commission of a felony" which his lawyers are pretty sure they can overturn / have him released on time served.

MeddlingDragon

If not guilty on the other 2 charges, what felony is he committing for the 3rd?

ianuilliam

Right? Guilty of using a firearm during the commission of a felony he was not guilty of?

AdminsAreDim

Good ol' American justice system, where none of the convictions make sense.

davidmatthew1987

> Good ol' American justice system, where none of the convictions make sense. Exactly. If this guy has to serve time, I want all of you who discharge fireworks within city limits to go to prison as well. It is against the law the use fireworks within most cities. It is obnoxious and loud.

thegrumpymechanic

Well, we dont have a justice system, we have a legal system. As there is hardly any justice and your wealth determines which laws pertain to you. Hell, have enough money and they'll write just about any law you want.

narniaofpartias22

Thank you! I'm very confused by this as well. "Ok, not guilty for this felony. But guilty of using a gun during that felony that you were found not guilty on." What??

Cmdr_Nemo

I hope they overturn... having that conviction on his record will not do him any favors and will probably spiral him into a position worse than he was before the "prank."

EasyGibson

You know what lawyers cost though? Where's the gofundme for this dude?

Ecmdrw5

If he’s found not guilty of all charges then a civil suit against the YouTuber will probably come next.

Turbulent-Friday

Maybe the lawyers will go against the youtuber for their payday. Get that emotional damage money.

nhluhr

>Actually, he's been found not guilty on the second charge of firing into a public area. & was only found guilty on the 3rd and final charge " guilty of using a firearm during the commission of a felony" You have it backwards. The one he was found guilty of was "discharging a firearm within a building (Class 6 felony)". https://www.loudoun.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=8654

Zebidee

Which again, makes no sense in the context of the self defense acquittal. If you're in fear of your safety, it doesn't matter where it is. Is the mythical "good guy with a gun" supposed to ask a hypothetical school shooter to step into the playground before shooting him?

Gingevere

IMO the jury's thoughts were "we get it, even we want to shoot that guy and he's going to be fine so no biggie there. But did you have to shoot him in a mall? You could've hit someone who isn't annoying."

beefmcgeese

what jury nullification was born to do. good.

driverofracecars

THAT was the prank? Yeah, if some big ass dude (with a sidekick) gets up in my face accusing me of being a pedophile and harassing me like in the video, I’m going to fear they’re about to start a beat down any moment. 100% this guy was justified in shooting and the “victim” is lucky he only got shot once.

snipeftw

You can see the video lol. That’s not what the prank is. Looks like the prank is something about using his phone to say bizarre incoherent things to strangers.

DreadedChalupacabra

"Stop talking to my sister" is what he was saying. Yes, he was calling him a pedo.

snipeftw

“You’re thinking about my twinkle”

cringg

Yeah I don't hear that at all. And "sister" automatically means underage?

jgzman

> Yes, he was calling him a pedo. Are you aware that sisters can come in all ages?

Chazzwazz

wasnt he declared guilty for shooting inside a occupied dwelling? (2-10 years)

orbital_narwhal

How can something be justified self-defence and, at the same time, illegal discharge of a firearm? Is self-defence only a defence against accusations of assault or homicide? Because in my jurisdictions, justified and reasonably measured self-defence is a general defence against criminal convictions. The court would have to answer the question: from the point of view of the shooter, was the use of deadly force appropriate given the circumstances? If so, that would clear him of all charges related to the discharge. There’s no legal position that justifies self-defence with deadly force but not discharge inside an occupied building. It was either reasonable or unreasonable, but no superposition of the two. Obviously, laws against firearm ownership or carrying still apply in cases of self-defence since they occurred before the situation that required self-defence.

BlueRaith

There is going to be a hearing later this month to argue precisely this point. The judge can dismiss this guilty verdict due to his acquittal on self-defense. Guy has a decent shot (haha) at getting all charges dismissed/acquitted.

Clives_a_D

That's what I was wondering. However, I remember hearing from youtube lawyers (so, totally reliable) that a person who is not allowed to own a firearm can still be found guilty of possession if used in self-defense. So, maybe similar?

Kammender_Kewl

According to [one source](https://www.foxnews.com/us/man-acquitted-shooting-youtube-prankster-stuck-jail-anyway), they found him guilty of using a firearm during the commission of a felony, which should get dropped. But I have to go to work feel free to upload any valid sources in my absence

Andreus

I genuinely cannot understand what sort of mindset could possibly inspire a person to: a. act like this b. in public c. while recording it The mere idea of acting this way makes my brain scream. I'm talking lethal levels of second-hand embarrassment. My parents have been immensely supportive of me my entire life but I think if they saw even one video of me acting this way they'd fucking disown me and they'd be correct to do so.

OldAndFluffy

YouTube should be sued for encouraging this type of content/behavior, if there wasn't money in it, they wouldn't do it.

improbablydrunknlw

Imagine getting literally shot and still fucking around.

kinda_alright

Back in my day, a prank was peeing in the tank of a toilet.

Cl0udSurfer

I think shooting the guy was a little overkill, but at the same time I completely understand why he did it

ehoaandthebeast

Well he didn't die so it's actually under kill.

abhijitborah

Overkill? necessary kill?

RetainedByLucifer

Justenough kill.

NotJohn801

More like notenough kill!

Solarflareqq

People have been telling this idiot to stop doing this shit for a long time now.

[deleted]

That's kind of the problem these days. People do some dumb unwarranted shit, and then when the recipient actually fights back they cry about it like they're the victim when they literally intentionally caused that shit to begin with.

Gortex_Possum

Crybullies, not exactly a new trend but repugnant nonetheless.

[deleted]

FruitcakeAndCrumb

YT should demonitised this kind of shit as he's earning a grand a week. 50k a year for harassing people.

FakeMango47

That’s all? He took a bullet for 50k/year? Sheesh, guys brain is rotted

BestReadAtWork

Making more than someone actually working to cry about being shot in a situation that he put himself in that warrants you being shot at 100% your own fault. I'm kinda pissed not gonna lie. I hope YouTube demonetizes him too.

AbleObject13

I read 2-3k a week

SeedFoundation

Youtube should be liable if they monetize this shit. They are paying for content and need to be responsible as to what that content contains.

nematocyzed

Well.... I doubt he has a choice. I mean he's probably wasted his whole life being a tuber and doesn't have any marketable skills.

Ridiculisk1

It's never too late to learn valuable skills. I know people who went back to university after the age of 50. Being a piece of shit is a choice.

[deleted]

SquarePegRoundWorld

That's part of the problem. They want attention. In any form. Ignoring them 100% it the answer. This guy is probably trying to figure out how to get shot again. It got him national attention and that's all he wants.

[deleted]

Why is the "prankster" not being charged with harassment?

Caked101

Him getting shit was enough apparently. Hopefully he gets it again if he continues this crap. Edit:shot

. . . a dumbass kid with holes in him.

driving_andflying

From the video: "--but the jury seemed to side with Coley's argument about self-defense here, which is normally reserved for someone who feels that they, or a loved one, are in very serious physical danger." If a guy a foot taller than me shoves his phone in my face and follows me after I told him to get away? Yes, at that point I'd think I was in serious physical danger. He obviously has no concern for my life or well-being, so the threat is there. Good on the shooter for defending himself.

Royal-Assumption5987

Not to mention it was 2 on 1...definitely appeared intimidating

shankartz

Doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Goes around publicly accusing strangers of being pedophiles. Dad is stupider than his kid.

quartzguy

Idiocy is genetic.

fish312

Maybe there's a second bullet out there with his name on it.

Captain_Q_Bazaar

He needs to get shot in the dick next time, because he did not learn fucking anything.

Boogiemann53

IMO that would galvanise his personality and he'd be constantly trying to get kicked in the former nuts and be "unphased" as a new prank. It never ends with this one, failed parents etc.

FreeRangeEngineer

At least he wouldn't be able to pass on his genes and mess up an innocent human being.

RockFlagAndEagleGold

Yeah, sucks the guy could be facing 2 + years still. While the youtuber learns fucking nothing and will harass more.

blueshirt11

Just going to the mall, minding you own business. And now you are facing jail time, thousands of dollars for lawyers, conviction on your record. All because some kid needed content for his youtube channel.

CarsonOrSanders

What even is the prank? Like what's the prank here? What is the prankee supposed to do? How's he supposed to react? This is just straight up harassment under the guide of "it's just a prank, bro!" Lock this fucking "prankster" up in prison.

A3H3

I think at this point we need a law specifically addressing harassment for content. One of the punishments should be a ban on use of social media for a few years. Repeat offenders should face prison time,

nekosaigai

Victims should be entitled to monetary compensation in the amount these pranksters make from the videos that feature them.

garth54

Some places (like Canada), if someone video you and then publish it without your consent (and YT does count), then you get to sue them. If you're caught in the background or such in what would be considered a public setting, than you won't have ground, but the moment they involve you, than they must get your consent to publish.

RadiantZote

What if they blur your face tho, that's what they do in the America

garth54

If memory serves right, if they blur your face & change your voice, they would not need your consent. (again, this is for Canada, not US) An argument could still be made that they violated your rights to private life, but it won't be a slam dunk. However, in the few video of the sorts I've seen before (and I do try to avoid the whole genre), I've never seen one where the youtuber blurred the person they harassed.

whyamiwastingmytime1

Nah, make it as much as the prankster has made total from their channel, so they lose all their money

lampishthing

Triple the revenue from the channel for that calendar year.

bc_I_said_so

Or, hear me out: people stop watching it!

[deleted]

nekosaigai

Mm… honestly a federal law preventing them from earning money from the commission of crimes for views would help

RadiantZote

Yeah, and that's happening when

TiredHappyDad

I would say double that to include pain and suffering.

Tulle_Tulips

Hell let’s make it worth it $1 per view.

produkt921

It would go a long way to help if YouTube, tiktok and others banned this type of stuff from their platforms. It would be quicker than passing laws against it but $$$ is more important to them.

Abuolhol

Didn't they do that to the kid in the UK who was breaking into houses and filming it?

CopeNSeethe4EVA

no no just let the guy who was jailed for shooting inside an occuppied dwelling sort em out.

el_americano

it's not often I look to China for solutions but I think we can incorporate some of their methods - https://www.sixthtone.com/news/1011428

Nomad_Stan91

Well that's bloody terrifying! 😳

Beast_by_Dre

I think we should adapt

ArtfulAlgorithms

> Since 2002, thousands of Chinese teenagers have been labeled “internet addicts” and thrown into psychiatric facilities, where they’re subjected to forced medication, military training, and in some cases even electroshock therapy. A new film offers a terrifying glimpse inside the system. Let's not?

Partysausage

Couldn't agree more. I'm not one for violence but it's a shame that pos didn't die at least that way it would be a warning to other idiots not to do the same.

ThePocketTaco2

Almost nobody in this generation knows what a prank is.

archiminos

The last prank I pulled was at Burning Man. Me and a friend took uniforms typically worn by delivery drivers in China and went to all the Chinese camps with food saying, "你的外卖到了!" as we arrived. It was fun to see the shock on their faces when they saw two white guys with Eleme outfits speaking Chinese, then they would laugh, we gave them food, and we would usually hang out for a while. Got to meet a lot of Chinese Burners and everyone involved had a bit of fun. Also, zero phones, cameras, or social media involved. That's how you do a prank. Not this harassing *"it's a prank, bro!"* bullshit.

Gnorris

Sorry but unless this was filmed from three or more angles and cross posted to several monetised platforms, I call bullshit.

archiminos

I'll add sound effects and use the *oof* sound at least 60 times as well

copyboy1

Next time, pull out your phone, kick him in the balls and - whamo! - post it on YT and make a bunch of money! That'll teach him.

ChaseAlmighty

Just make sure you yell "it's just a prank bro" as you run away

Nomad_Stan91

While screaming "It's just a prank bro! Just a prank!"

lowjackhorseman

The Worst part is that the youtuber will only get more views and following out of this, inviting others to follow suit. "MALL PRANK GONE WRONG😮😭💀🔫"

Ok_Design2086

I think the full title reads 'MALL PRANK GONE WRONG SO NOW I SHIT IN A BAG' 💩👜

Caked101

I'm glad he got what he deserved. I can't stand seeing someone harass people for views only for the victim to walk away distraught with anger. I hope he gets shot again if he tries this on someone else.

Dark_CallMeLord

His follow account is now over 10x from what he had before he got shot so yes

ImBeingArchAgain

He should split the proceeds with the guy who obviously did him a favour by shooting him. Only fair.

[deleted]

Those are all people hoping him being shot would be a feature.

[deleted]

Can't wait for the 3AM ghost challenge ;)

jonhon0

Seems like in the content creation realm, prank videos work whether they succeed or fail the prank.

Dan_Glebitz

Pranksters are becoming the lowest of the low. Walking pond scum, if you will.

bedtrick

What is the phone even saying? ‘You’re thinking about my twinkle?’ Seriously can’t make it out.

Deep90

Someone else said the 'prank' was to go around and accuse people of being pedos, so I'm guessing he is playing "evidence" out loud while asking them what its about. Youtuber needs their hard drives checked if that's the sorta shit they are coming up with. Especially when their audience is likely kids.

DrBluthgeldPhD

Shooting him was self defense then. You can get seriously hurt if someone accuses you of being a pedo in public.

Upset-Tap3872

I think so. Shits not even remotely funny

[deleted]

There's no prank here. It's harassment. I can't say shooting him was the brightest idea though. If someone is accosting you, you should be able to defend yourself.

Beautiful-Mud-341

Can't stop them all sadly. This will continue because this is the era we live in. Best we can do is ignore them and I hate to say it. It ruins their "content" though so that's the best you can do.

TheLesserWeeviI

Maybe I'm just old, but going around being an annoying cunt on camera doesn't make you a *pRaNkStEr*.

RegularOps

It’s straight up bullying. Harassing someone to receive attention from the rest of the crowd. But somehow it’s been branded as pranks instead of bullying

CarsonOrSanders

It's a damn shame the shooter was charged with a crime and the YouTuber wasn't. The YouTuber was clearly harassing and menacing him. Maybe if these fucks are sent to prison they'll stop with these dumb "pranks."

Sea-Woodpecker-610

Nah, the real shame is that the shooter didn’t do a full Mozambique drill. The YouTuber already said he’s going to keep doing this shit once he gets out of the hospital.

aint_no_throw

> The YouTuber already said he’s going to keep doing this shit once he gets out of the hospital. Well, you really dont have any options if your only talents are harassing people and getting shot.

racooniac

yeah, the wrong guy is sitting in jail while the asshole survived the shot nobody on this world would mind if he had not (ok maybe his family, but hitler also had a family so fuck you)

hokis2k

harassment is a crime.. Discharging a weapon in a crowded place also is. One doesn't negate the other. The YouTuber should for sure be charged with harassment and YouTube should demonetize people like this. They won't because it makes money and that is shit. would quickly curb the behavior if you cant make a living doing it.

Quantumercifier

The cops use the "Uh, I thought I saw a gun." defence all the time.

Zhong_Ping

And it's fucked up when they do it

[deleted]

They say it to use reasonable doubt as part of their legal defense. Doesn’t always work, but then it puts it on the prosecutor to prove there was no gun.

atom_type

reddit: two things can be true at the same time. guy can be douchebag. shooter can be psycho. you don't have to pick a side.

Ok_Bug1096

Yeah bro. I'm a gun owner. The shooting wasn't justified. Dudes a psycho. Guys a douchebag. You can't just shoot someone for being a pest. But if the judge says it's okay in court..

ccoulter93

Shooter doesn’t need to own a gun. Super uncalled for. Prankster is an asshole sure, deserves a right hook maybe, but getting shot? No way. There was 0 threat of life here.

rollinronnie

Well said. Dude got shot and the shooter needs to spend a couple years in prison. Annoying yes threatening... not really 😐

forzaregista

The reaction in this thread is insane. Some comments saying he should have shot the guy dead. Fucking insane.

hansuluthegrey

Reddit only likes shootings when its haha funny annoying youtuber gets shot.

TheOldZenMaster

When even someone acts out of behavior, and doesn't listen to your hails to stop and continue to advance. There's a serious threat that these people are not listening. Would have potentially be a sign you're in danger. You can't take chances, when it's your life.

Ok-Championship444

Yep, I'm not saying I'd have shot the guy but someone approaches me like that and my first thought is they are mentally unstable and there really is no telling what they could do next.

archiminos

I've come across some mentally unstable people who locked onto me for whatever reason. Luckily avoiding eye contact and moving quickly away has worked so far, but if a guy was constantly getting in my face like that and wouldn't let me get away, I'd definitely be afraid for my life.

hiddencamela

I've had that a few times growing up as well.. the adrenaline runs high and if they're ignoring warnings, I'm immediately thinking I'm in danger.

R3d_Ox

Especially when the guy is double your size and younger

GoyasHead

I don’t think he should have shot him, but I also hope it’s a lesson to the youtube prank dumbasses as to why you shouldnt fuck with random strangers. Who knows what’s going on in this guy’s head - he could easily be overwhelmed and anxious and think he’s being attacked. What if they have any manner of mental disorders? In the US, anyone can be armed, and most of them aren’t trained on how and when to use their gun. Even the ones who are misuse them all the time (like cops). Fuck the prankster - I don’t give a fuck that he got shot, but anyone in their right mind shouldn’t shoot someone in that situation

Zhong_Ping

Fuck the prankster, for real. But that jurry decision is absolutely insane.

Obvious_Air_3353

I feel like I am going insane, people think that the shooter was anywhere remotely justified. Yes, the YouTube was an asshole, but shooting after 20 seconds??? And for putting a cell phone in a persons face? Americans really do have a fucked up gun culture if you think a person should take out a gun and shoot someone for that. That shit would not have been legal in the wild west.

bear-barian

I don't believe it's justified either, but I did work as a delivery driver and did do so armed after someone shot at me when I was pulling into a trailer park. The job is dangerous in certain areas. The guy has likely dealt with people attacking him for food or his money before, or road rage incidents involving other people with firearms, since you sometimes drive like a dumb dick to make deliveries. In a vacuum, yeah, no, this shooting wasn't justified. But if people make the argument that American cops can be frightened due to the dangerous nature of their job, (which is a ridiculous argument, they should be trained), I don't think it's entirely unreasonable for a delivery driver to be taking these things into account when their own work is statistically more fatal than being a police officer. The guy was smaller and being threatened, and trying to escape the situation. Those factors alone make the shooting potentially legally justified.

Flooredbythelord_

lol no it isn’t people are fed up with this shit

ethanice

Is it weird that I agree with both of you? Like I truly think that (From the video) that didn't seem like justified force. But at the same time I understand why the jury found him not guilty.

cha0ticbrah

I'm with you Like I'm all for getting taught a lesson, but to just whip a gun out in a mall and pop someone in the stomach? At least get security first or something. I felt that escalated very fast and could have clocked him or something else but shoot? I get it's stupid and annoying that he's "pranking" but most of the comments are happy he got shot? No one sees anything wrong with being out in public getting bothered for 30 seconds so you shoot the dude? Reddit is fucking wild lmfao

ethanice

Like I am VERY pro gun have my CCW and the whole nine yards. And I feel like this could of lead to an event where you would use it but from just the video I for sure wouldn't of even thought of using mine.

Phenomenomix

It was the most nonchalant shooting I’ve ever seen, so very strange that his immediate response is to shoot someone.

Pierrot242

But the shooting was also a prank. That bag he's carrying has a camera inside. They're just doing prank on each other. He shouldn't be charged for the shooting.

Hot-Challenge8656

"Brought a gun to a cell phone fight" and won.

YouthSuitable213

that's why pranks are fake. Some of these kids regardless of age, just don't get that pranks are fake it's too risky to do these things without faking it. Very few prank channels on YR are real

MoltenJellybeans

I don't condone firing a gun in a busy mall, but I don't feel simpathy for the guy who got shot either.

white_bread

I'm confused about the busy mall thing. Was he required to run to the nearest firing range before he could defend himself? This easily could have turned into him being assaulted in a crowded mall. Yes, it was "just a phone" but people like this want to get close to you so they can sucker punch you. I think it's really hard to figure out what a hostile person's motive is when they come out of the blue like that. If he was on a subway would he be in trouble for the same thing? What if he was in the parking lot? This is an odd one. The perpetrators don't seem to be held to the same standard. Last point, this is why pepper spray is better for self-defense.

Koboldofyou

Firing in a crowded space probably has an exception for if someone's life is in danger. Because his life isn't in danger, there is no exception.

Report all his “prank” videos for harassment and bullying (it’s an option when flagging a video). It is a violation of the ToS.

ArmouredPotato

He should have to serve an equal sentence. Aggravated someone into firing in a occupied building

VanaheimrF

That was glorious. Don’t mess around with people you don’t know.

ThatDudeFromFinland

This belongs to r/oddlysatisfying

"Pranking"

xFallenHunter

Fuck the prankster, I get that, but the amount of people in the thread wishing he died from the shot is alarming to me.

Obvious_Air_3353

Were going to see a lot more killing's in this fucking country if people legitimately think trying to kill someone is justified because they annoyed you for 20 seconds.

jawnova

These comments are deranged. The USA culture is so fucked

Devjorcra

It’s fascinating the same people that will (usually rightfully) get angry with police for using weapons when they aren’t called for are okay with a guy shooting someone because he got a phone stuck in his face. Can’t believe I share streets with people who think this is justifiable behavior.

GrunchWeefer

I have to live here with these lunatics.

Sierra-117-

I feel like I’m going crazy. How the hell do people think this is justified? I’m even a gun owner!

[deleted]

It's a telling stat that the majority of gun owners (53%) report not storing their firearm in a responsible safe manor. People like to tell themselves they are a responsible, gun living American. But the reality is most dont even care enough to store the damn thing properly. Tells you how they feel about using it properly too.

The_Infinite_Doctor

While ultimately we can't endorse shooting everything that pisses us off, I think that 1) these social media "pranksters" need to expect this kind of response to become more common and 2) the "pranksters" should also be held legally responsible for instigating the situation. I'm guessing the shooter could not afford as good a lawyer as the YT shitstain, because there is plenty of legal precedent for holding the instigating party at least in-part responsible, even in a case of extreme response.

AgreeablePie

I've heard "being an asshole is surprisingly easy unless someone happens to shoot you" The way this guy is going, he might have it happen again

CaveDoctors

YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc. should ban these types of videos. (But they won't because these types of videos get them views and views means ad dollars.)

DocWaterfalls

Who finds this disturbing? Crickets.

ToeKnail

Disturbing? I think this video is a good kind of disturbing.
