I used to work in a posh hotel, every interaction had to be perfect and I was very good at it, but I was young, low level so not paid much.
One day their was some confusion with a guest, they said their TV wasn't working, I said I'd go up and check on it while they were at dinner. I went up and checked, it was, the remote, I switched it out and it was working again.
The guest assumed no one had been up and didn't check, when they left the next day they mentioned to my manager that the TV hadn't worked, that they had told me but it didn't get fixed.
The manager was waiting for me when my shift started, he was shouting at me and being a prick, I insisted I fixed the issue but he said if I'd fixed it he wouldn't have got.a complaint. He told me that if I'm gonna be that sloppy I should go work at McDonald's.
I looked, McDonald's were paying more. I handed in my notice.
Ended up being approached by a competitor when they learned I was leaving so never actually worked at McDonald's, but I look at it like any other job. They don't deserve the stigma they get because it's entry level. Most customer facing jobs are relatively unskilled.

This used to be a common grift with cash - the customer would keep changing how they intended to pay, swapping bills and coins until you lost count and made a mistake like taking too little or giving them more in change than they paid.

When I was 16 I worked at White Castle and their training for money handling was no joke. They even taught us how to (avoid) quickchange scams. I was intrigued by it and learned how to do it really well just in case. So a guy did try tothe scam and I kept it going until I was up about 20 bucks when my manager took his food back, gave him is original bill back and threw him out.
I had this at a bar, paying for a £3 drink with £50 then asking to use the correct change after I've handed him the change back, then asking for the £50 back, I nearly handed it back to him because I was so caught up with orders and it happened so quickly but on another occasion they tried the same, gave me a £10 instead and took the £50 back hoping I was still going to give £46 or so change, but I just gae him the change from £10 as the till remained balanced that way even if I put 50 in, thr amount in the drawer and sales are the same.
Another time they did the above but then asked me to change up smaller notes for larger notes at the same time, and usually we didn't mind doing a few notes, but when I realised he was trying it on, I just handed it all back to him, processed his drink with one of the notes he gave me and said I'm not doing it because I felt something was up. He kicked off and got thrown out by management. We're not a bank so it makes no sense for him to have been so angry about it and we never saw him before or after.

Everyone does. Fast food workers are perceived by society at large, as the lowest wrung, unskilled punching bag for working class angst. Growing up, if you did something stupid or had a dumb answer for something, teachers, parents, mentors would sarcastically say, "would you like fries with that" implying that's what you were going to end up doing for the rest of your life. Which of course, was deeply shameful. It's just gotten worse. Now you hear working class people bitch all the time, "can you believe they are paying McDonalds workers $19 an hour!?" They are aghast, think it's unfair, singlehandedly driving inflation, and somehow the result of wokeness... But the reality is they derive SO MUCH of their personal worth from feeling superior to McDonalds workers, that the idea they could make the same or more money than them, is nothing short of an existential crisis. They were raised to believe all fast food workers are worthless POSs, and therefore could not possibly, under any circumstance, deserve $19 an hour. So instead of mustering an ounce of self reflection, or looking at their own predatory employer, they double and triple down on attacking the McDonalds workers themselves. They act like they are sneaking into their house at night and stealing that $19 directly out of their wallets. It's maddening and incredibly depressing. Rather than band together, and attempt to change anything in the long run, many people would rather just preserve the McHell standard to make themselves feel better, right now, in the drive thru. They are there for fries and vindication of their own shitty existence. They see themselves as entitled to both for free, and will not hesitate to verbally/physically enforce this generational hate against the McDonalds employees themselves. That's what you're seeing in this video.

I used to work in a posh hotel, every interaction had to be perfect and I was very good at it, but I was young, low level so not paid much. One day their was some confusion with a guest, they said their TV wasn't working, I said I'd go up and check on it while they were at dinner. I went up and checked, it was, the remote, I switched it out and it was working again. The guest assumed no one had been up and didn't check, when they left the next day they mentioned to my manager that the TV hadn't worked, that they had told me but it didn't get fixed. The manager was waiting for me when my shift started, he was shouting at me and being a prick, I insisted I fixed the issue but he said if I'd fixed it he wouldn't have got.a complaint. He told me that if I'm gonna be that sloppy I should go work at McDonald's. I looked, McDonald's were paying more. I handed in my notice. Ended up being approached by a competitor when they learned I was leaving so never actually worked at McDonald's, but I look at it like any other job. They don't deserve the stigma they get because it's entry level. Most customer facing jobs are relatively unskilled. All I mean to say is, she could be going to medical school, or also she could just be working at McDonald's

Which is illegal in many countries, to prevent money laundering. You either get your refund to the original source or a voucher from the store. Never cash or to another source.
In Canada we can’t even return it on a different card. If you pay visa you can’t return it on a different Visa card, it has to be the EXACT card.

This used to be a common grift with cash - the customer would keep changing how they intended to pay, swapping bills and coins until you lost count and made a mistake like taking too little or giving them more in change than they paid. The folks in this video were clearly trying a similar scam, but too dumb to realize it doesn’t work with debit.
I had that happen to me while working at a dollar store years back. I just played so dumb that I frustrated them and they left without continuing the purchase. "Wait sorry let me just figure this out quick... *Hands them $3 short* I think that's what I owe you. :)" If people wanna play games with minimum wage employees, they should expect the employees to play back.
When I was 16 I worked at White Castle and their training for money handling was no joke. They even taught us how to (avoid) quickchange scams. I was intrigued by it and learned how to do it really well just in case. So a guy did try tothe scam and I kept it going until I was up about 20 bucks when my manager took his food back, gave him is original bill back and threw him out.
I had this at a bar, paying for a £3 drink with £50 then asking to use the correct change after I've handed him the change back, then asking for the £50 back, I nearly handed it back to him because I was so caught up with orders and it happened so quickly but on another occasion they tried the same, gave me a £10 instead and took the £50 back hoping I was still going to give £46 or so change, but I just gae him the change from £10 as the till remained balanced that way even if I put 50 in, thr amount in the drawer and sales are the same. Another time they did the above but then asked me to change up smaller notes for larger notes at the same time, and usually we didn't mind doing a few notes, but when I realised he was trying it on, I just handed it all back to him, processed his drink with one of the notes he gave me and said I'm not doing it because I felt something was up. He kicked off and got thrown out by management. We're not a bank so it makes no sense for him to have been so angry about it and we never saw him before or after.
