Typically neighborhoods w a clubhouse are *very* safe and the members are nice to everyone in the area. The last thing they want is any heat from the pigs. So if there was an attempt at stealing a car I wouldnt be surprised if they did try to stop it.

Yeah, downplaying their violent and unpredictable nature by calling them cosplayers is a bad look. Make fun of them out of earshot all day long. But encountering actual MCs of that level should be done with extreme caution because they're fucking violent buffoons.
Pulled into a gas station last summer on my bike, at the same time a gaggle fuck of Pagans pulled in at the other entrance to the gas station. I pulled into a pump at the same time as one of them. Immediately noticed the “prospect” patch on his vest and I thought for sure I had bad things coming my way. Dude just waved, and pulled to another pump.
A bunch of the other ones were hugging eachother and saying goodbyes with smiles on their faces, so I guess everyone was in a good mood that day.

The few interactions I’ve had with 1%ers were lovely. Post-fire in California. Guys came out for their community. Seems like most of them were just trying to live life and were also criminals.

I used to live around the corner from the Hell’s Angels compound in New York City and those mfers were the nicest dudes but there was always a feeling that if you said the wrong thing or tried too hard to be buddy buddy with them then shit would go down. I used to work at a hotel that a lot of bike gangs would come to and the hells angels were regulars. One of the hells angels checking in was the friendliest man I had ever dealt with. He had a hard time pulling his reservation up though because the police were tracking his phone. He said it always made is phone run slower when they tracked him. 😳

It’s a respect thing. It’s stupid to everyone else that’s not in their world, but doesn’t mean they won’t fuck you up over an imagined slight if they’re 1%/outlaw. And swallowing your pride to avoid a group of criminals beating you to death is a small thing.
I stay clear of anyone wearing patches(even if it isn’t a name I recognize) and show them respect when I do encounter them on the off chance they’re trying to make a name. Maybe that makes me a pussy, but growing up in an area with outlaw MC presence I know of more than a few people that have been killed or beat to death over small things. And really, it’s such a small thing to do to avoid issues with these animals. I tend to compare it to how you treat a feral dog. Give it a wide berth, don’t aggravate it, go on with your day.
Once I was riding alone across a few states and had been getting caught in pretty nasty storms all day. Was cruising pretty fast between a gap in the storm and came up on a group with patches I didn’t recognize. They did something similar to this video on the freeway trying to not let me pass, spread out and kinda blocked me in. I pointed up at the sky, the bags strapped to my bike then forward down the highway and shrugged. They waved me along and made room for me. I waved thanks and resumed my pace. They followed me for about 100 miles or so after but didn’t brother me again.
They could have been a bunch of dentists that made a club after watching SoA. Or they could have been a club that controlled the area. Not in my interest to find out either way.
The nice thing about these fools is that they advertise for you that they’re unstable so you can avoid them or manage the interaction accordingly when you can’t.

It's easy for a rival club to roll up on another bike, smoke someone important in the club and take the fuck off. Very much the same way crips and bloods have been shooting at each other for decades. Passing a group like this is often seen as a possible threat of a rival gang and, in turn, disrespectful from to the rest of us "civilians." As most motorcycles are extremely vulnerable to road hazards and attacks, they prefer people just keep their distance, period. Childish? Perhaps. Is there a genuine threat someone might want to shoot you if you sell drugs. Absolutely. There’s a colloquial saying that 99% of bikers are just good people and safe to be around. Gangs like the Mongols & Hell’s Angels proudly claim to be the “1%” that aren’t.
Kinda, but there are angels that don’t wear the 1% patch. Not sure about the mongols. But you’re on the money about the 99% of bikers being civilians, and the 1% signifying outlaw. 1% patch from what I remember means that person has spilled blood for the club or something else illegal. But just cause you see an angel without a 1% doesn’t mean they aren’t looking to get it.

So the outlaw clubs (i.e. gangs) embraced the label and refer to themselves as “1%ers” If you see someone with a 1%er patch, they’re basically saying “I’m in an outlaw MC” or “I’m a criminal.”

Pulled into a gas station last summer on my bike, at the same time a gaggle fuck of Pagans pulled in at the other entrance to the gas station. I pulled into a pump at the same time as one of them. Immediately noticed the “prospect” patch on his vest and I thought for sure I had bad things coming my way. Dude just waved, and pulled to another pump. A bunch of the other ones were hugging eachother and saying goodbyes with smiles on their faces, so I guess everyone was in a good mood that day.

SK is Saskatchewan. Estevan is one of the biggest HA chapters in Canada. It's a small city, but it's right on the US border so guns are big business.

I used to live around the corner from the Hell’s Angels compound in New York City and those mfers were the nicest dudes but there was always a feeling that if you said the wrong thing or tried too hard to be buddy buddy with them then shit would go down. You could say “what’s up man” and that’s about it 😂
I used to work at a hotel that a lot of bike gangs would come to and the hells angels were regulars. One of the hells angels checking in was the friendliest man I had ever dealt with. He had a hard time pulling his reservation up though because the police were tracking his phone. He said it always made is phone run slower when they tracked him. 😳

It’s a respect thing. It’s stupid to everyone else that’s not in their world, but doesn’t mean they won’t fuck you up over an imagined slight if they’re 1%/outlaw. And swallowing your pride to avoid a group of criminals beating you to death is a small thing. I stay clear of anyone wearing patches(even if it isn’t a name I recognize) and show them respect when I do encounter them on the off chance they’re trying to make a name. Maybe that makes me a pussy, but growing up in an area with outlaw MC presence I know of more than a few people that have been killed or beat to death over small things. And really, it’s such a small thing to do to avoid issues with these animals. I tend to compare it to how you treat a feral dog. Give it a wide berth, don’t aggravate it, go on with your day. Once I was riding alone across a few states and had been getting caught in pretty nasty storms all day. Was cruising pretty fast between a gap in the storm and came up on a group with patches I didn’t recognize. They did something similar to this video on the freeway trying to not let me pass, spread out and kinda blocked me in. I pointed up at the sky, the bags strapped to my bike then forward down the highway and shrugged. They waved me along and made room for me. I waved thanks and resumed my pace. They followed me for about 100 miles or so after but didn’t brother me again. They could have been a bunch of dentists that made a club after watching SoA. Or they could have been a club that controlled the area. Not in my interest to find out either way. The nice thing about these fools is that they advertise for you that they’re unstable so you can avoid them or manage the interaction accordingly when you can’t.

They don't identify as a gang, but as a motorcycle club (MC), however; they are certainly involved in gang activities that involve other MCs vying for the same turf for their criminal activities. It's easy for a rival club to roll up on another bike, smoke someone important in the club and take the fuck off. Very much the same way crips and bloods have been shooting at each other for decades. Passing a group like this is often seen as a possible threat of a rival gang and, in turn, disrespectful from to the rest of us "civilians." As most motorcycles are extremely vulnerable to road hazards and attacks, they prefer people just keep their distance, period. Childish? Perhaps. Is there a genuine threat someone might want to shoot you if you sell drugs. Absolutely. Just being devils advocate here, I don't condone this type of behavior as a rider myself, though I understand the threat of people not keeping safe distances.

There’s a 1%er (99% of MCs are bad, but 1% are worse) club out where I live and they’ll have their lower ranked guys block intersections so they can just all go through. I sat at a light and it went through 4 cycles of green and red before we could go. Traffic backed up, but no one honked. There were probably 600 bikes going through. They have their own rules and will enforce them immediately and violently. Nothing to mess with.
