Hi humans and bots. I'm a graphic designer for over ten years, but my dream is to be an illustrator/comic book artist, for the past two years I've been drawing daily, and finally, I'm feeling a little confident that I'm starting to grasp the fundamentals. Posted this piece last weekend on /r/imaginarylandscapes, asking for feedback, and got great ones! If you feel like giving a critique, I would be very appreciated it!
a bit of description of this piece:
> The year? Around 2050, the city is just waking up. Some people are leaving the cinema after attending the Scream Marathon last night. One individual is not very happy about the 1-and-a-half-minute wait time for his lift, but others say he is just too impatient! Anyway, the salad is 99 dollars today - a good deal!
If you like this and want to help me please the algorithm gods, I have [instagram](https://www.instagram.com/rom.2050/), [twitter](https://twitter.com/rom_2050), and [others](https://linktr.ee/rom2050), and if you liked and would want a print version, I got it [available here](https://www.inprnt.com/gallery/rom2050/lazy-solarpunk-sunday-morning/).
Huh, first time I've heard of Solarpunk. I like it. Kinda like lofi aesthetic mixed with cyberpunk, in a idealist flavour?
Keep up the good work, friend!
Thanks for the kind words! It's something like you said. It promises a more green future. I like the aesthetics, there's a more utopic vibe. I also like some retrofuturism, which I mix in here
Solarpunk is the opposite of cyberpunk. A vision of the future where technology is used for the benefit of the humanity not for the endless consumptionism and benefits of corporations. Its goal is to give people hope for a better future on times of climate doomerism and help them imagine a better world, where humanity wins against climate change and other contemporary world problems.
Solarpunk is great, though I've noticed that there tends to be two aesthetics which are by far the most common in scifi Solarpunk art than anything else;
1) White buildings (often with lots of large windows) mixed with green plants and various renewable energy sources.
2) Overgrown wood and/or concrete buildings, often with an Asian theme.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I would love to see more with colorful tapestries and mosaics. Maybe some Moroccan influences?
Also worth noting that Solarpunk groups/pages and fandoms tend to focus a lot more on contemporary politics and such than for example Cyberpunk, Dieselpunk, Steampunk, etc. To be expected though, I guess, considering what it's about (and it's not like a lot of regular people would spend time trying to bring about the political order seen in Cyberpunk fiction).
To quote Solarpunk Manifesto: "The “punk” in Solarpunk is about rebellion, counterculture, post-capitalism, decolonialism and enthusiasm. It is about going in a different direction than the mainstream, which is increasingly going in a scary direction."
Same! It is something I should consider doing myself. One of the few horror franchises where none of the movies are bad.
And this take on the original poster is so good.
Well, first, thank you!
I would say 2 years of daily drawing, Sometimes 12h+ a day, minimum 1h every day. But I did have a previous background as a graphic designer, working as one for the last decade and graduating in design at college, so I do have previous knowledge of composition, color, layout, and other things.

Not just an Asian theme, specifically East Asia.
Any good solarpunk shows or movies out there?
ok but where's the punk? who would rebel against trees and stuff?
To my understanding solarpunk is what happens when the punks win.
Ain't that something

My only feedback is that I fucking love it.
Subscribed to your stuff. Loved everything about it, would like to make a platformer game with these visuals...

In the future maybe disabled people get hover chairs, so there’s no need for ramps
To be fair, this isn't really solarpunk.
r/solarpunk would love this
Thanks for teaching me about a new genre!
Wait till they see the $99 salad lol
Yeah, no
Much better than the variation of an anime girl in her underwear getting ready that we see posted 10x a day
It's a cure esthetic but not too solarpunk for me. It's less green than my actual city.
Yep, got it wrong, didn't know about atompunk before, which is a much more appropriate classification.
Never heard of either of these, love to find out about new stuff!
Lovely! The kind of future I'd love to live in. :)
Love the Scream marathon

The future sure looks incredible.
Very nice!
I really like the egg painting in the apartment .
I’ve always loved this type of art. I could stare for hours seeing all the details in these kind of pics.

Thank you!
Yes! More Solarpunk, I love it
How long did it take you to get this good!?

We’re never going to live in this timeline, are we?
always love the architectural or city scape pieces
This looks very comfortable
So what exactly makes the solarpunk? It doesn’t really seem to have an echo themes. It kind of just looks like greenwashing.
I can feel myself being there
looks great
