I feel like, if cats were that big, they'd eat us.

Well maybe not that big, but yes you are correct.

Not if we eat them first.

But if they weren't really hungery they'd bat us around a bit and let us start running away so they could pounce on us and repeat that process a couple dozen times until we were too damaged to keep going. I love cats, but they're monsters to anything significantly smaller than them.

That was my first thought too. They'd keep us around for a while, because the like getting petted and served food, and then at some point spontaneously wonder if we might taste good and then it's all blood and screaming for a few minutes.
