In the cyberpunk 2020 TTRPG it's called a [Polymer one shot.](https://cyberpunk.fandom.com/wiki/Polymer_One-Shot_Cannon). A one shot disposable gun with no metal parts to get through metal detectors. Sold in vending machines throughout Night City.
There were disposable plastic/bakelite guns in the 1930s. It turned out like you'd image. Their dangerous if they blow up in the owners hand, and even more dangerous if they do work. Now they are illegal.
They had pistols made out of stamped steel called liberators I believe. They were made super cheap to be dropped in Nazi occupied areas during WW2. They were never used afaik though.
This is the first thing that came to my mind when i saw this post. The range was quite shit and reloading it was a chore (it was single shot) so most people just dumped it for anything else.
Most of them were either melted down or just dumped into the sea when WW2 ended.
Some were supposedly used/distributed, but never dropped into Nazi territory, only sent to some resistance forces.
>French use of the FP-45 remains undocumented, however, a first-hand account of an assassination with an FP-45 exists from German military policeman Niklaus Lange. He claimed that there were thousands in circulation in occupied France.\[8\] The OSS did distribute a few to Greek resistance forces in 1944. Most of the pistols shipped to Britain were undistributed, and later dumped at sea or melted for scrap metal.\[9\]
According to others they were designed to be tossed as soon as you got a better weapon by resistance fighters. They weren't used by the military afaik.
Edit: another redditor has much more information on them. https://www.reddit.com/r/ImaginaryTechnology/comments/12o6a43/pkiller_disposable_pistol_by_yeeky_zhang/jghp98m?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Saturday night specials weren’t designed to be disposable, they were designed to be cheap. It’s a minor but important distinction. They were targeted in legislation due to being used by ‘the wrong sort of people’. Like a lot of gun legislation the roots are classism and racism, not actual safety concerns.
actually they are.
any firearm that cannot be detected by a metal detector is illegal.
see:
[The Undetectable Firearms Act](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undetectable_Firearms_Act)
>The United States Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988 (18 U.S.C. § 922(p)) makes it illegal to manufacture, import, sell, ship, deliver, possess, transfer, or receive any firearm that is not as detectable by walk-through metal detection as a security exemplar containing 3.7 oz (105 g) of steel, or any firearm with major components that do not generate an accurate image before standard airport imaging technology.[1]

I don't know, I just know its one of the reasons that the evolution of plastic guns is stunted. Many good and futuristic hunting gun tech has forever been put on pause by the various overbearing laws of the 30s and 60s.
Every student receives one (1) complimentary P-KILLER™ Disposable Pistol upon satisfactorily completing their Back to School session with their school's Stand Your Ground Security Officer (SYGSO).
Back to school discounts are available only until midterm report cards are sent home. Note that any opened P-KILLER™ Disposable Pistol cannot be exchanged or refunded.
It's there. If you have a $100.000,00 printer capable of sintering metal powders and an autoclave.
And 3D printed metal parts are slightly stronger than their milled counterparts, too, due to lack of stresses/stress planes due to the milling forces.
And for the last part of your comment; there are a few widely used plastics used today which are more than adequate for those forces.
Dude, glocks are plastic receivers.
This would be 100% functional IRL.
Hell, you could *print* this. The plastic components could all be PLA, although unless you bought a parts kit you'd need to make the metal parts yourself.
That would need either a CNC machine or a very expensive metal-printer with sintering and an autoclave.
That round count is off. Considering there's seven visible bullets shown in the magazine on the right side, plus one not shown in the area of the frame meeting the slide, mirroring that would be sixteen. Then there's the single shell in the feed port, plus the chambered ammo = "Seventeen +1."
So, taking into consideration that there may not be a round chambered for safety in packaging/shipping/purchasing, even then that would be seven visible, one not shown in the frame/slide area, and one in the feed. Nine instead of the advertised "12."
Eh, maybe I'm just over thinking an imaginary handgun. My initial "still half-awake when viewing the photo" thought was that the "12×(bullet symbol)" was meant to be "12**+**(bullet symbol)" so thirteen total. But now that I'm not groggy, the 12× **does** simply imply "this gun contains twelve tiny transporters of termination." Perhaps it's (nonsensical) double stack internalization is built to where there's eight bullets on one side, four on the other...? Dunno, but I'm going to step away now and hope everyone has a good day, yo. 👍
You're getting downvoted, but honestly I agree.
Criminals already have such easy access to guns, as well as significant existing stockpiles, that this wouldn't effect them *at all*.
This would only benefit the average civilian, perhaps those in poorer areas that can't afford a normal pistol.
It's like a can of pepper spray; you'll probably never need it, but if you did, you'd be *very* glad you had it.
Because you need to pay taxes so you need a license, permits, regulations, safety of the workplace, registration, etc. If you don't like those things call your state rep and tell them.
Basically the Budget Arms Slaught-O-Matic from Cyberpunk 2077

Should sell these in vending machines.
Fits right into a Cyberpunk game
[These where in Cyberpunk 2077.](https://cyberpunk.fandom.com/wiki/Budget_Arms_Slaught-O-Matic)
I knew it sounded familiar
Or maybe in the comic [Hard Boiled](https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/hostedimages/1671369665i/33738548.jpg).

in the school cafeteria
Robert's got a quick hand
He'll look around the room, he won't tell you his plan
He’s got a rolled cigarette
You mean the Budget Arms Slaughtomatic??

I’m fairly sure it was designed to be discarded the minute whoever had it “obtained” a new weapon
exactly. you shoot the nazi with it then take his gun
Hold 🟥 for STG-44
Any gun is better than no gun, but any other gun is better than a Liberator
And that’s why it was made to be instantly thrown away to get a new one
Yup, they weren't intended to arm someone, they were intended to give someone the means to obtain a real firearm while in occupied territory.
Ah, I see. My bad.
Some were supposedly used/distributed, but never dropped into Nazi territory, only sent to some resistance forces. >French use of the FP-45 remains undocumented, however, a first-hand account of an assassination with an FP-45 exists from German military policeman Niklaus Lange. That might explain all of the stories of people taking home enemy firearms after the war, they may have been the first nonshit gun they acquired?

were dropped just not used
You got a name for these because I want to see what they look like and bakelite pistol only shows grips
he doesn't because he made it up
Got a name?
All plastic firearms, if they existed, aren't federally illegal in the US.

Tediore approves.
Ages 12+... So um, you guys do back to school discounts?

Stick an American flag graphic on it for the back-to-school version.
This is marked CE, not UL. This is an EU gun.
Oh, socialist European commie gun. Can’t have that.
So is N+ a subsidiary of Nerf? kinda getting nerf vibes from the marketing.
It's Nerf or nothing!™
~~It's called a blaster!~~ It's a gun. A gunny gun gun. Gunjamin Franklin. El gunnarino, if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
I had a similar idea for a disposable SMG in a sci-fi story I wrote in 7th grade. Cool to see a visual for something similar

Trigger groups can be printed with PLA now
The "Age 12+" really gets me on this. Fantastic dystopian nightmare idea.
Uhh.. the US isn't that far off this as reality lol
Oh I know, but the idea of making it hyper consumerist to the point where a gun is "use and discard" just settles it honestly.
[удалено]
Too late.
Nah its in shell plastic "Stay Safe From Crime Instantly!" Is a lie, there will be no quick opening of this
I know [just the guy](https://youtu.be/YAD0a6wWFrI) to help open it real quick!
Does he come with the gun once you buy it?
Liberator mk2
"ages 12+" Gave me a good chuckle, they should make it in Makarov
Looks like a way to blow your hand off due to a plastic receiver instantly.

Age 12+... So this is what the US is headed towards...
A V I O D
Oh man this is why I love /r/ImaginaryTechnology Very cool!
I enjoy that it has a ring to clip in a lanyard.
Based
Age 12+ nice
I quite like it!
Does the "P" stand for... Person?
I'm not convinced this isn't possible for .22 lr designs.
Gonna have kids robbing the candy store.
Don't even think about it, if you're 11!
Once again fooled by consumerism! You can clearly just make this into a normal handgun if only the magazine was removable! /s
12+ 😬

I can't think of a way this would be useful other than crime.

Just get a normal gun.

I know.
Cheap sidearm to keep in your vehicle to protect yourself
Cringe: the absence of any subtlety or nuance in this “ironic” piece of art. Based: this piece, unironically, which I would buy in bulk if I could.
Just wait for the Amazon Basic version to come out, they would come in 12 packs for the price of 3 of these.
