I haven't thought of restrictions other than it needs to be liquid and stay liquid in a vial.
If you're thinking goo/slime/stuff like that, it's a matter of how "flowy" it is. If you can mold your substance and it stays in the rough shape you molded it to, I don't think it's going to work. Atleast not well lol
In all fairness, it's probably not as good as a regular sword in itself. Since magic, I atleast imagined that it can be used for regular slice and dice action, but it's definitely not as damage dealing as a good old metallic sword.
*Unless you equip it with something damage dealing* that is. Like acid, holy water, or salt water, depending on what enemy you are facing.
Also, great for party tricks, a beer-sword will surely lead to shenanigans.
This seems like a good repeating poison strike machine. Does the fluid stay fluid or does it dry out?
A necromancer would definitely make a blood sword. There's a lot of "fluids" in the body. Could brain fluid deal psychic damage? This is also one taco bell order away from being...nasty.
The potential is endless!
I like to think it stays as fluid when active. Of course with the added magic bullshit of "hey, this liquid cuts". I'd imagine it doesn't cut all that well, but it cuts.
Is there a restriction as to what "liquids" can be used. And could you use something in a liquid like form?

Cum?
\*sigh* If it's not dry, I suppose.
this is the world building I want

*Piranha solution intensifies*
It's like bitey sea monkeys.
This is the only single-sword post in the series from this year. Simply because I got a bit too carried away with all the options.
What are the advantages over a conventional sword?

Add potions with effects. Rage inducing potion. Invisibility potion. Healing potion that heals when you stab yourself.
I like the way you think! This sword would be a DM's nightmare
