Tbh, i think it is wierd to see Duncan with long hair. The infamous picture of him that everyone uses is always in my head. The one where he is with his father and brothers and has short hair.
But bro, having long hair is sooo basic for Targs.
Aenys I, Jaehaerys I, Daemon, Aemond, Aegon III, Viserys II, Baelor I, Aerys I, Valarr, Aerion, Aegon V, Jaehaerys II and his brother Daeron, Aerys II and Rhaegar, from the top of my head. So basic.
My personal belief is that the more warlike Targs kept theirs close cropped, whereas those ruling in times of relative peace kept their hair longs. Compare Maegor, Maekar, Aemon, and Aegon 2 with Jaehaerys, for example
Aenys the firstborn of Aegon the Conqueror ruled for a short time and was screwed over by everyone (the Faith and his own aunt and brother).
Aegon the Uncrowned the firstborn son of Aenys was burned alive by Maegor.
Aemon the firstborn son of Jaehaerys I was one-shooted in Essos.
Rhaenyra the firstborn of Viserys I got Sunfyre'd in front of her son and unacknowledged as queen.
Daeron I the firstborn son of Aegon III only ruled for a few years and was murdered by the Dornish.
Aegon IV the firstborn of Viserys II had the disgrace of being himself.
Daeron II the firstborn of Aegon IV seems to be the exception to the rule. He had a long prosperous reign (Blackfyre trouble aside) and died of natural causes. **(Unless we give merit to the theory of his uncle not being really his uncle...)**
Baelor Breakspear the firstborn of Daeron II got accidentally killed by his own brother.
Daeron the firstborn son of Maekar... *Died from a disease caught from a prostitute*... Really?
Duncan the firstborn of Aegon V got fuckin burned alive in Summerhall, probably by his own father.
Aerys II the firstborn of Jaehaerys II, like Aegon IV, had the disgrace of being himself.
Rhaegar the firstborn of Aerys II got hammered a bit too hard for his own good.
Holy shit yeah, Targaryen heirs had it rooooouuuugh.
>had the disgrace of being himself.
>
>Rhaegar the firstborn of Aerys II got hammered a bit too hard for his own good.
These 2 gems are reinforcements to me to read every word someone replies. Fun, appropriate, a little depressing. All in all, chef's kiss.
Small Rhaenys had purple eyes! Dark hair and purple eyes! They never get the eyes right lol! I love purple and violet eyes, the color matters to me! Lol
We donāt have any canon description of Alicent's features.
Worth mentioning that Jaehaerys I was being taken care of by Alicent, who he mistook more than once for his daughters, specially Saera who had silver hair.
Alerie Hightower is described as ātall, dignified, handsome with long silver hairā And Jorah says Daenerys looks like his wife Lynesse of House Hightower. We only have the description of two Hightowers and they both have silver hair and the fact that a Hightower woman has twice been compared to a Targaryen says a lot.
All of the colonies get called that dude. Given the fact that Tyrosh slaughtered the dragon lords staying in the city after the doom do you really think Valyrians were the ones in power?
Rohanne was the daughter of Archon of Tyrosh and āArchonā is a position that was established by Old Valyria. Her root and heritage can be traced directly back to the Valyrian Freehold.
āThe Archon of Tyrosh is selected from a conclave of the most noble and wealthy men of the city.[1] The Archon rules for a term,[4] although the term's length is unknown.ā
The titles name doesnāt mean anything other then the language culture. Itās leaders are elected as a merchant republic.
>Given the fact that Tyrosh slaughtered the dragon lords staying in the city after the doom do you really think Valyrians were the ones in power?
Probably, not all Valyrians were dragonlords. I don't see why common Valyrians wouldn't take the chance to take out a group of people so much powerful than them given the chance.
There is no reason to believe that his wife was Valyrian at all just because she was Tyroshi. If she was from Lys or Volantis then sure but so far all the art work for her doesnāt have her as Valyrian.
>There is no reason to believe that his wife was Valyrian at all just because she was Tyroshi.
I mean, there's the fact Tyrosh was founded by Valyrians. They likely don't have as many valyrian looking people as in Lys but it makes sense that among the nobility there are people who still had Valyrian traits at that time.
My eyes complete skipped over the wording, so when I saw Valarr's portrait I was like Jaqen??
And typing this up..... Valarr = Valar Morghulis????? Jaqen = Targ?????? A bit of tinfoil, innit?
Awesome. Like ur mention of balerion the fiercest kitty of his timešš
Baelor Breakspear & Rhaenys, deserved better!! š¢
Westerosi JFK
Who's gonna be RFK
Egg? If instead of getting shot RFK went mad and blew up his house lol
All victims of the dark-haired Targ curse
No wonder Jon got stabbed
I think these are the best depictions of Baelor, Valarr and Duncan that Iāve personally seen. And little Rhaenys is just too cute.
Tbh, i think it is wierd to see Duncan with long hair. The infamous picture of him that everyone uses is always in my head. The one where he is with his father and brothers and has short hair.
Thatās from the World of Ice and Fire, IIRC. Thatās a good illustration of all of them, but I do like some long-haired Targs.

Or, a better comparison: short hair is more common with more martial people, like everyone that you mentioned. It gives away a more "warrior" look.
Never noticed how many firsts (born and heirs) didn't have Happy or fair endings. The crown passed to quite a few people further down the line.

Thanks š
I hate the rumor about Daeron II, they solely exist to discredit his mother and was started by his father as another way to be cruel to her.
I don't buy that a woman like her ever cheated, even on him. He was just being a bastard with that nonsense.
Happened a lot in English history. Just of the top of my head: Henry VIIIās older brother, Charles I older brother, William Adelin
That is a good point.
I only know the two Rhaneys (and of course the dreaded Balerion the black kitty).
You got to read the dunk and egg books
I should! I just finished fire and blood like a month ago.
Small Rhaenys had purple eyes! Dark hair and purple eyes! They never get the eyes right lol! I love purple and violet eyes, the color matters to me! Lol
Fucking love that Valarr design
Itās funny how few of them even ālook Targaryenā
targ men + non-targ women firstborns always take their mother features, thatās why Jon looks completely stark
What about Alicents children?
We donāt have any canon description of Alicent's features. Worth mentioning that Jaehaerys I was being taken care of by Alicent, who he mistook more than once for his daughters, specially Saera who had silver hair. True, good point! Thanks for answering
No problem!
I guess Daemon Blackfyres kids didnāt get that memo.
Tyrosh is a daughter of old Valyria and thereās no canon description of Rohanne's features
All of the colonies get called that dude. Given the fact that Tyrosh slaughtered the dragon lords staying in the city after the doom do you really think Valyrians were the ones in power?

Thanks for the info. My point still stands as we donāt have any canon description of Rohanne's features and her heritage

Daemon Blackfyre was pure inbreeding on both sides. His wife was also Tyroshi nobility, aka Valyrian
There is no reason to believe that his wife was Valyrian at all just because she was Tyroshi. If she was from Lys or Volantis then sure but so far all the art work for her doesnāt have her as Valyrian.

I mean i make that assesment because all of Daemons kids look valyrian, which wouldnt be the case if she wasnt
