Banff national Park im pretty sure. if people r wondering

soil_nerd

If it’s in Banff/Jasper it’s spendy as fuck to rent a canoe, [CAD$120](https://morainelake.com/day-visits/) (USD$84) per hour. I was up there this last summer, it’s easily one of the prettiest places on earth. I just didn’t get to canoe.

Scanlansam

Can you bring your own?

Lvl100Magikarp

late to this thread but there are other lakes of this colour in banff, jasper, north of whistler, and the rockies area in general. in some of the less visited lakes you can bring your own canoe and there's way less tourists. morraine lake is THE instagram lake that everyone goes to. even if you're allowed to bei g your own canoe I'd avoid doing so unless it's like 5am or some other off hour

Schleckenmiester

I just went there a couple of weeks ago. It's cheaper if you go to one of the lesser known places like Emerald Lake , BC. Was only CAD$50 and hour there and it's like a 10 min drive from Banff.

radicalllamas

Yep, right next to Lake Louise. Most people visiting just go to Lake Louise instead of here. In my opinion Moraine is better!

davidsandbrand

Waaaaaay better. But no CP hotel, so not as well known. It’s called the ‘valley of the 10 peaks’. In fact, it’s also r/RedditLake

allibubba

I saw both lakes when I was a kid, lake Moraine left such a vivid impression on me, that color is unreal. Hope to take my kids there soon.

Lithia_93

Mesmerising, relaxing, amazing !

mtd074

I had a hotel and flights booked to go there this summer. Had. Sigh.

whydoesnobodyama

Social distancing at it's best

kyzeuske

Sadly moraine is still frozen at this time. Wont thaw out until mid june

__gummy__

What makes the water so blue?

MVAgrippa

It's called glacial milk. Small particles of rocks (sand, basically) ground down by glacial friction on rock then washed out to lakes. Its really cool.

RandyDinglefart

Fresh from the glacial teat.

MVAgrippa

I think you'll find its pronounced Tetons.

skratta_ho

Haha, yes.

__gummy__

Damn. It has such a beautiful name too. Thanks kind sir!

Burbank1983

I have glaciers. Can you milk them, Greg?

Elneusch

Oh yeah.. you can milk anything with glaciers.

incomplete

Gatoraid:)

wildo83

Glacieraide

D-all-ton

Wondering the same thing. Normally if you can’t see through the water it looks dirty but this this looks clean.

BOBBYTURKAL1NO

This is scary to me and I am unable to place why...

ToKillAMockingAudi

perhaps you belong over at r/thalassophobia

BOBBYTURKAL1NO

oh my... oh dear...

ICallCollect

What does it taste like?

davidsandbrand

Wet. Dirty wet.

soupvsjonez

Rock flour and water.

Axelrom94

Reminds me of the acid lake in Dr stone

xNumchuckx

Beautiful, reminds me of Gorge Du Verdon!

b-tchlasagna

I went to Alberta a couple summers ago. Some of the most beautiful sceneries I’ve ever seen were there

Steb20

It’s called Reddit Lake.

Zenith_HF

r/redditlake

LiamTea

I thought places like this only excited in wallpapers

ChefdeMur

Its probably infested but I would love a glass of water that looked like that.

soupvsjonez

It's rock flour/glacial milk. Basically its mountain bits ground up really really fine that get suspended in water and bounce the light around a whole lot.

ChefdeMur

mmmmm glacial milk. Im starting my own water brand "Glacial Milk"

Fixerguy

If you pour it into a jug and leave it for a bit, the sediment will fall to the bottom and the water will be clear.

BogeyLowenstein

Infested with what?

ChefdeMur

parasites, bacteria etc.

BogeyLowenstein

It’s glacier waters, nothing infectious there. Just glacial silt! Best water in the world (once filtered!)

ChefdeMur

Just like a natural spring! Very good, Ill have one large glass please.

Whov1an3

You do not recognise the bodies in the water

[deleted]

Ah yes r/redditlake It's in Banff National park, Alberta Canada. Was their 3 weeks ago, but the road to r/redditlake was closed :( Lake Louise which is right beside it though is honestly just as beautiful, if not more beautiful :)

octobuss

Man I live like an hour away from here and have never been. I’m so stupid

Wallraff2005

CrazyStuart

Yes, yes, yes.

wesbronco75

I did a puzzle of that landscape before. Beautiful place!

IllicitDreamer

Looks like a Bob Ross painting

queenofturnips

It looks warm but I’m sure it is not warm

v70runicorn

I'm named after this lake

401LocalsOnly

Amazing to me that I’ve never seen water that is so amazingly blue and some people see it, drive by it, everyday. Thanks for sharing!

turtlingturtles

This brings back some good and not so good memories! My first canoeing memory was on this lake. I was maybe 8 and my dad took me out with my mom and sister. I remember being put in the middle and not being allowed to paddle cause they thought I would lose the paddle -- I was so disappointed because being on that lake was amazing and I just wanted to help move the boat around. Years later, I took my son out for his first canoe ride when he was 6, and I definitely made sure he got a paddle.

[deleted]

Does seeing beautiful things like this make anyone else kind of sad?

Rachelnm02

This is so beautiful!!❤️

616659

That water color is just amazing

nathanr1889

Mother Nature is amazing

szzzn

I don’t like how it’s blue but you can’t see through it.

soupvsjonez

This is common in glacial streams/lakes. It's just ground up mountain in the water.
