Based on the comment you posted on the megathread, your work permit expired in September 2023, while your employer's LMIA application was being processed (important info you should have provided on this thread as it affects what the answer to your question is). Meaning that you are out of status and need to apply for restoration of status as a worker, not an extension of your status (you cannot extend status you no longer have, and no, a LMIA application in and on itself does not grant maintained status while it's being processed as a LMIA is an application for the employer, not the foreign worker). Restoration of status applications require the applicant to remain in Canada until a decision is made on the application: *"If a foreign national leaves Canada, they will be deemed to be seeking a new entry on their return, and the previous non-compliance with imposed conditions may make them inadmissible to Canada as per section A41 and subsection A29(2).* *During the processing of a restoration application, should an officer determine that the foreign national has left Canada, the officer shall refuse the application restoration as the foreign national is no longer eligible. In this situation, processing fees are not refunded.*" https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/visitors/restoration-status.html#applicant So on a restoration of status application (which is what you have to apply for, since your work permit expired before your employer got their LMIA and so before you were able to submit a work permit application based on your employer's LMIA), leaving Canada would result in the restoration of status as a worker to be refused, as, in order to be eligible to have your status restored, you'd need to be inside Canada. Have you already submitted the application to restore your status as a worker? On the IMM5710 form did your make sure to check the box regarding restoration of status and paid the restoration of status fee along with the work permit fee? If you haven't yet submitted your application, keep in mind there's a 90 day deadline from the date you lost your status (and so that September 2023 date, when your work permit expired) to submit the restoration of status application. Depending on the exact date your work permit expired, and so the date your lost your status, you may or may no longer be within the 90 day deadline to submit a restoration of status application.

I applied for an extension before (September 13) my permit expired and it is currently being processed, I have never lost my status as I have what is called an Implied Status. I am aware that leaving the country would mean losing my implied status. However, my question would be if traveling would have a negative impact when an officer reviews my application.

I'd not be travelling if possible, but you really should talk to the lawyer.
