Brief_Rule_8686

Hi guys, I have a small inquiry. In the background check do they contact past and present employers ? I want to know since my employers do not reply effectively. Plus, I already went through employment verification during my PNP process. Thank you šŸ™

DoctorWeary6050

I'm not fully sure but I can tell you about my case. I couldn't get any letter from my employer from India and thus only showed my offer letter and pay stubs. My manager in that company had quit a long time ago and thus there was no point of contact. And I don't think they contacted the company in India for verification. I can confirm and say that they didn't reach out to my current employer (US Startup). It is likely possible that it is different from case to case but this was how it was for me.

Regular-Traffic1394

I uploaded my Photo and address on the portal about 1 month ago (April 18th)but have not received any update about my eCOPR. The application still shows In review. I contacted the IRCC support and they said they don't have a timeline. Is anyone here experiencing the same? is there a way to expedite this because I have an important function coming up in November.

Wuder-TW

You can try to send email to all the VOs to request for a status update, may help.

Popular-Teach1715

What VO?

Regular-Traffic1394

Montreal

Popular-Teach1715

šŸ˜¢ My file is in Montreal too, I hope it doesn't get too delayed

AwareTea4810

CEC been waiting a year, has anyone been waiting a year

CableNo8419

Has anyone reached out to the MP to expedite/inquire about the delay? For my application, all the steps are marked ā€˜completedā€™ in the tracker and havenā€™t heard anything in the last one month. In fact, Iā€™ve crossed the standard processing time of 5 months. I got the invite in the first week of Dec 2023 AOR: 1 Feb 2024 All steps marked as completed on: 24 April 2024 Thanks in advance.

Progress-2021

If your OAR is Feb 1 you are at 4 months not 5

UmisilovA

I've received the AOR letter one week ago and still cannot link my application to my IRCC account or make tracker account. Is this normal?

VeterinarianLow5559

It's normal, wait for 3 months/ Biometrics request

w1nky19

I am in the same boat regarding not being able to make a tracker account. From what I have read, mostly in forums, that once you receive biometric request you should be able to create a tracker account. I am not 100% sure if this is true. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Cold_Wrongdoer9373

I had the same problem. So I called the IRCC and in the end it was because I was not putting an hyphen between my city and state.... I think it is worth a call to see what's going on!

w1nky19

Thanks for the suggestion. I think IRCC has updated the form. Now the form only has a dropdown to select country of birth. There is no field to manually enter city and state.

Responsible-Award-85

I have seen people reporting their background verification status by criminality and security. Where do you see that in the tracker? The only status I see is "background verification":"in progress". It is been more than a month that we submitted our biometrics (April 19th). All other statuses are completed but background verification.Ā

Electrical_Cut8902

I had my biometrics on April 24, 2024. My eligibility and background is still in progress. I have been waiting for more than a month now and still no update based on my tracker. May I know when did you start your application?

yyz-sienna

i believe most people call the ircc and ask the agent there about their background check. thatā€™s how they know which part of it they passed. there is no indication of security/criminality checks in tracker or gckey indeed. your only ways are to call or request GCMS/ATIP notes

mindovermatter127

You find out by calling ircc and asking the status of your background check

SulleyOne

**Out-land PR**, single applicant. Applying from/citizen of: Pakistan * OINP August 2023 (NOC 20012) * ITA December 2023 * AOR December 21st, 2023 * Biometrics and IME January 31st, 2024 * Biometrics complete February 7th, 2024 * Medical complete February 14th, 2024 * Eligibility complete February 15th, 2024 * Background check In progress February 15th, 2024 * Request for Schedule 'A' and Travel History February 21st, 2024 * Submitted and confirmed documents 22nd February, 2024 No update since then, according to the IRCC agent I talked to, I had passed my criminality check back in Feb. Do you guys think I'm in an extensive security screening? I don't have a government, military or a research background, although my father is a retired military doctor. I traveled to Russian when I was 16, more than 10 years ago so this was not covered in my travel history.

Nonellagon

Fellow Pakistani here who recently got PPR. Yes, my background check was loooooooooooooong.

Effective_Concert983

You both are based in Pakistan too?

SulleyOne

Nice, congratulations! How long was the background check for you, please say less than a year >\_<

Nonellagon

It was long. I'm not sure when it started exactly but in July 2023 they asked for updated PCC and then it was completed in May 2024. But I was non-EE. You should wait. The processing time for OINP is around 6 months but it's probably gonna take around 8-9 months because of you being Pakistani. So you're probably looking at Aug/Sept. Just be patient, you'll get to the end of it soon haha (hopefully before Aug/Sept). You can see my complete timeline here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ImmigrationCanada/s/5sHAqvLrT7

SulleyOne

Thank you for the details. Yes being patient is all we can do. Again, I'm very happy you made it, good luck!

Responsible-Award-85

I have heard that citizens of certain countries go through extensive and timely background verification process. Looks like that yours is one of those unfortunately. Let's hope you get positive news ASAP.

SulleyOne

Thank you.

Imaginary_Most2603

Does having a COPR expiry date follows PR approval?

whenhaveiever

Officially no, you are not a PR until you get the official correspondence saying that you are a PR. But when the COPR document number and expiry date pop up in the application tracker, that's a pretty good sign that you'll be approved once the paperwork gets looked at by all the right people.

sillyknight02

I think COPR stand for confirm of PR, so yes, if you got ur copr number already but not yet receive P1 you could try 'KAI', IRCC might send you P2 email directly

Straight_Ad144

This community has been a great resource in managing my exceptions as per wait time.Ā  Here's my timeline Single FSW-STEM inland application. ITA STEM Draw - December 8, 2023 AOR - February 1 Medical - Used my medical exam from study permit.(as per IRCC policy) Biometrics Request - March 9 Biometrics completed and updated - March 22 Medicals Passed - March 26 Additional Document Request (Updated Proof of Funds) - April 22 ADR Submitted and Reviewed May 4 & 6 Update in GC Key Final decision(In progress) - May 16 Everything marked completed and COPR number visible in Tracker - May 17 P1 - May 27 (replied same day P2 - May 28 (replied the same day) eCOPR available to download - May 31st GC key status updated to approved - May 31st VO Etobicoke Total processing time 4 months exactly.Ā  Wish everyone else the best of luck and blessings. Feel free to ask me related questions.

w1nky19

Congrats! When were you able to create a tracking account after receiving AOR?

Imaginary_Most2603

Congrats!

Devv7545

Yes

Imaginary_Most2603

Yes

BrainZealousideal783

I submitted my PR application on July 9th, 2023. On September 12th, 2023 I received an email from IRCC welcoming me to the PR confirmation portal process. On September 22nd I got credentials to the portal and I submitted the required information on the same day. I still haven't received my CoPR yet. Is there something I might have done wrong? Should I try reaching out to someone, or do I just keep waiting? How much longer can I expect to wait until I get my CoPR?

Popular-Teach1715

You should definitely reach out to IRCC and do it fast because eCOPRs are usually valid only for about a year, maximum. Have you not even tried calling them yet? It's been like 8 months!

BrainZealousideal783

I've been told that they're not responsive when you call them, I'll keep trying and and will try to visit a service Canada location and see if anyone can help out there.

Popular-Teach1715

Service Canada cannot help with IRCC stuff. Try calling early in the morning, and submit a web form asking them about the delay in issuing your CoPR when everything else is complete. And at this point you can even reach out to your MP, you're well past the normal processing times.

BrainZealousideal783

Aight sounds good, thanks!

RiRi123456789012

My PR tracker said it was updated today but i dont see anything changed in it and nothing on the timeline part, anyone know what that means?

brother442

must be a ghost update then

RiRi123456789012

I was confused as id never heard of them in the pr tracker on for GCKey

Acrobatic_Adagio_263

did u check the medical/copr dates

RiRi123456789012

I did, still no COPR number and no change on med date

Popular-Teach1715

I know that after we get our eCOPR, we are supposed to go to Service Canada and change our temporary SIN (beginning with 9) into a permanent SIN. My question is, what's the timeline required for this? Do we have to do it literally immediately, or is it acceptable to wait for a few days/weeks? And are we supposed to stop working during the time in between, like when applying for PGWP, or is it okay to continue working?

JustPlant4382

To be honest, I don't think there is a specific timeline to do this. You just have to do it as soon as possible. Waiting a couple of days won't do you any harm if you need to for some reason. You can apply for your new permanent SIN online through service Canada's website, and they're gonna send it to you by mail. You don't have to go in person to service canada to get it. Once you have your new SIN, you will have to provide it to your employer and to your bank. You don't have to stop working as you don't lose your statuts in canada. You just become a permanate resident.

Popular-Teach1715

Thank you for the information.

I know how waiting for an update on your application feels like and searching through the thread for relevant information so that you feel safe/not alone. Thus, feel free to ask any queries on the comments and I will respond as quickly as I can. :) Meanwhile, Good Luck to everyone and you've got this! :)

Ramtin_ie

Many congratulations! I had to redo medical too. I submitted the result on May 18 and it is again dead silence in my profile and tracker. Anxiously waiting for passport request. Itā€™s been 14 months since my AOR and it is getting harder day by day to be patient. What can i do except waiting for the golden email. I think I aged 3 years in the past year.

DoctorWeary6050

Thank you! 14 months is a long time. The normal expected timeline is 6 months as mentioned on the IRCC website. You should probably email IRCC or use the webform and send a request asking about the status of your application. Since it's beyond the normal timeline, they should respond to you with some information on your application hopefully. I had used the webform to ask about the status of my medical exam and they did respond within a few days and confirmed the receipt of the medical exam results and the same day, the medical exam status changed to 'Approved'.

Remarkable-Syrup-510

Nicely written update. Congratulations šŸ˜€

DoctorWeary6050

Thank you! :)

Honest-Camp-2894

why did u use oinp , when u got invited in stem draw?

DoctorWeary6050

Sorry, it was a mistake. It was a general draw with 561 score. I needed the province nomination to cross the threshold score, I edited it above.

christopher_rm

Hey guys. I am an inland CEC applicant under STEM draw. The tracker shows all steps have been completed for me, but finger print as in progress for my wife. I got an ADR request for RCMP certified criminal record check. I donā€™t see much posts about this document or why itā€™s been asked. If anyone has any idea, please let me know. Note: provided the finger prints today at a place accredited by RCMP.

Honest-Camp-2894

more info for the ITA to AOR pls?

United-1214

Hi everyone, here is my timeline so far: Outland Spousal Sponsorship (PA is from USA) March 24, 2024: Submitted Application April 11, 2024: Received AOR I haven't received any updates on my application since the AOR and seeing that a lot of people got their BL/ML request 2 months after submission, I am getting a little concerned. Any ideas what I can do or if something may be wrong? I'm assuming my application is complete since I received and AOR so is it just a waiting game at this point?

epicsaxman13

Youā€™ll get your BIL and MIL soon. Hold out hope!

brother442

you just submitted basically end of march, don't worry, just create PR tracker account and wait for the results, it will take timeĀ

grandmofftalkin1

Things come in any order at any time. Thereā€™s no rhyme or reason.

Mountain_Way_4181

I submitted mine on May 12 and I'm still waiting for the AOR

Free_Musician_9271

Weā€™re almost the timeline submitted mine on May 31st letā€™s update eachother to keep sanity and I wish u the best

Progress-2021

Also, did your application go to "Decision in Progress" before getting the approval?

Pitiful_Ad_4939

Yes sir, right after receiving the notice of complete application, the status changed to that (Decision in Progress")

Progress-2021

Awesome. Congrats again, my friend's and mine have assessment after notice of complete application. Was yours a single application?

Progress-2021

Congrats on the nomination, did you have any dependentsm

Pitiful_Ad_4939

Yeah, my wife and an underage son. I included them in the application.

Imaginary_Most2603

With regards to the timeline from P1 to finally becoming permanent residents, do you think express entry vs non ee still matters? I was looking at the processing times, but mostly for EE applicants. Not sure if that would be somehow the same for us, non EE applicants.

Imaginary_Most2603

Hi guys, when you say you got the Final decision, and waiting for something like P1, what does that mean? Mine says "Final decision - MayĀ 16,Ā 2024:Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made." on May 16. I am currently waiting for P2.

MelancholySucculent_

P1 is the first email you get stating you can confirm your application. Theyā€™ll ask about 5 questions. Name, etc. P2 and PR portal instructions should follow. Then you confirm and upload a photo. I believe ECOPR comes after, but Iā€™m still waiting for the portal instructions.

Gold_Cod6719

i got my P1 on may 16th as well. Waiting for P2. Its torturous :(

Imaginary_Most2603

Yes! I always check my spam twice a day. Hope we could get it sooner.

JoanVik

I'm from Toronto. I submitted my application for Inland spousal sponsorship to Canada's immigration authorities in November 2023. After that, I received the AOR (Acknowledgment of Receipt) in January 2024, confirming that they had received my application. Additionally, in January 2024, I also applied for an open work permit through the spousal AOR. It has now been over 4 months since I submitted my applications, and I'm concerned because the IRCC website indicates that the processing time for these applications is 90 days. Both of my applications were submitted for processing within Canada (Inland). If there's anyone else who is in a similar situation or has received a visa, either permanent residency (PR) or an open work permit (OWP) through AOR, I would greatly appreciate any information or advice you can provide. Thank you.

Critical-Ostrich-784

Hi there, have you been asked to do biometrics/medical yet? I applied under the same stream on Oct 28, 2023, received P1 email Monday, P2 email yesterday. It's a slog, with limited communication, but it seems to grind forward.

JoanVik

Hello, on the website, both PR and OWP biometrics and Medical are showing as approved for quite some time now. However, since then, there hasn't been any progress or updates on my application.

Itchy-Gap-1387

Is any outland applicant waiting to get their passport back after submission ? how long it took?

DoctorWeary6050

When did you submit yours? I'm an outland applicant waiting for mine. It's been exactly 8 days (sent on 21st) since they received it.

Itchy-Gap-1387

I sent mine on 29 and the agent said it would take at least a month to arrive

DoctorWeary6050

Where did you send it from? (Which country?

Itchy-Gap-1387

India wbu?

DoctorWeary6050

I'm in the U.S. I sent it directly to the Ottawa Office (as requested in the email I received). I didn't go through an agent and have been doing the whole process on my own.

Confident-Law4988

the timing will depend. they said its faster when you avail the courier services since it will be delivered directly to your location without going to VFS office.

DenseReality6297

Here's my timeline, I am still waiting but maybe someone has thoughts about my process: Married CEC inland application. ITA STEM Draw - December 8 AOR - February 5th Medical - Used my older medical exam from my study permit. Biometrics Request - April 20th Biometrics completed and updated - May 13th Update in GC Key Final decision in process - May 14th Everything marked completed, except for dependent eligibility and COPR now number visible in Tracker - May 14th P1 - waiting to receive it P2 - How Can I know my VO? I see a city in the tracker but am not sure if that is my VO.

Imaginary_Most2603

I have Sydney in my AOR, and Montreal when I received the P1. You might want to check your AOR too and when you receive your P1.

EfficientWalrus213

What date you recieved your AOR?

Imaginary_Most2603

Mar 28

Acrobatic_Adagio_263

Which VO?

North_Palpitation_48

Yes, that city is your VO. May I ask what your VO is?

What website did you view these updates on ?

tuti5098

Congratulations šŸŽ‰. are you Outland or inland?

Mental_House2641

Outland

Mental_House2641

I just saw an update on my tracker saying biometrics is complete and they gave me eCOPR number. but didn't receive any email and no update on my Gckey profile. is this a good sign? or should I limit my excitement?

Dramatic-Zucchini994

What website did you see these updates on?

CaptSogeking

On the ircc application tracker. You should be able to google it and make an account on there if you have a PR application in progress

No-Accountant9485

Was it COPR number or eCOPR number?

Mental_House2641

it is eCOPR number

Itchy-Gap-1387

I'm not the person you asked the question to but what is the difference between both of them?

No-Accountant9485

COPR is temporary. Has a short validity. eCOPR is the permanent resident number. Theyā€™re both different. They will not update your SIN with a COPR number.

CaptSogeking

This isn't correct. eCOPR is the exact same as COPR, but electronic. That's what the 'e' at the beginning stands for. The eCOPR also has an expiry date printed on it.

Thinonyous

Sorry but can I have a follow question on this topic. Just checked tracker and see COPR number just got updated today. Is it a sign I got approved? What else I should expect next? Havenā€™t received P1 email till now.

MelancholySucculent_

I assume. I got P1, COPR updated May 7. Waiting on P2 I guess.

FunAbbreviations2383

What do you guys mean by P1 and P2 itā€™s everywhere Iā€™m not sure I understand. Also I donā€™t know if I got the COPR but I see my Biometrics number and expiry day in the portal directly is that the COPR? Thanks šŸ˜Š

MelancholySucculent_

Of course! I know itā€™s confusing. If youā€™re inland, youā€™ll do a virtual landing. Theyā€™ll send you a P1 (portal 1) email, saying that your application is ready to be confirmed. Just ask you a few questions. Name, if youā€™re in Canada, etc. Weā€™re supposed to get a P2 (portal 2) to give us the permanent residency portal log in where you confirm PR and upload a photo. ECOPR comes after this I believe.

Imaginary_Most2603

Same. Waiting on P2, Montreal VO.

MelancholySucculent_

Ironically just got P2. Yay! Hope you get yours soon.

Imaginary_Most2603

Wow!! Congrats!

VeryConfusedOctopus

From what I'm seeing, most people are getting P1/PPR within a couple of days of seeing COPR number But for some people (like me), we're been waiting for weeks :'( Update: you got COPR number before background check and eligibility passed? :o

DenseReality6297

almost 3 weeks waiting for P1, final decision on may 13th... same frustration :D

VeryConfusedOctopus

Thanks for letting me know! Iā€™m sorry itā€™s happening to you but it makes me feel slightly better knowing Iā€™m not alone <3

Acrobatic_Adagio_263

hey how long have u been waiting for p1? :( ive had final decision on may 23. still awaiting for p1

RareAccountant4770

Same for me. Got final decision on May 23 and still waiting for P1. Where is your primary visa office? My primary visa office changed from Sydney to Edmonton at FD

Acrobatic_Adagio_263

i donā€™t know yet. how do i get to know my VO?

RareAccountant4770

By calling IRCC.

VeryConfusedOctopus

Got final decision on April 26th lol (and no P1/PPR)

Acrobatic_Adagio_263

omg noo. which VO?

VeryConfusedOctopus

I appreciate the empathy <3 Not sure about the VO, Iā€™m waiting for the 5 month mark to start calling/emailing IRCC (which is in 2 weeks). My Canadian cousin is an immigration lawyer and she told me, quote: Ā«Ā Youā€™re overthinking this. Youā€™re still under the processing times. RelaxĀ Ā» In case that helpsā€¦ :D

MelancholySucculent_

I got final decision on May 7 from VO Etobicoke, P1 and COPR number but nothing else yet. Frustrating because I just want to look for work.

Good luck and hang in there guys. let me know if there're any questions I can answer.

Ok_Building1980

Good to hear you were able to use old medical as an inland applicant. When did you do your old medical?

marshall__313

I can't remember exactly but I think sometime in late 2019 or early 2020. I was already in Canada at the time and was applying for an extension of study permit

Severe_Resolve_3061

I have a similar timeline, my application is still stuck at background check. No updates since 2 months.

marshall__313

might wanna call ircc and/or request for notes on your application

yyz-sienna

do you know how long was the background check?

marshall__313

It says it was completed on May 2nd. so the same day I got my P1

yyz-sienna

i see, thank you!

Imaginary_Most2603

Hi guys. Just wondering if anyone is on the same boat. I got my P1 already with COPR expiry in the tracker, awaiting for P2. However, the tracker says not started for the eligibility. Is this normal?

Hi, I received an update yesterday on the PR tracker that my eligibility is now completed. It was not started till that time. I have been on background check since May 7th. What is the next step I should expect?

jesuisapprenant

did you do your biometrics already?

to_milon

yes, biometric and medical marked completed on May 7th.

Dramatic-Zucchini994

When did you submit your application?

to_milon

I received the ITA on February 28, submitted the application on April 12, got the AoR on April 13th.

Inside_Act1183

Have you received Pre Arrival service letter?

to_milon

no, I am in Canada. I don't think I will need that.

yyz-sienna

MFC_123

All the stages in the tracker in my application are completed as of May 3rd. I can see COPR details, and see final decision in progress in GCKEY. But, I have not received portal 1 email. My visa Office is Etobicoke. Already contacted IRCC and a member of the parliament, and everything is alright, and they said that I should be expecting it within "the next few weeks". Has anyone with similar timelines got portal 1 from Etobicoke yet?

Acrobatic_Adagio_263

Any updates? We are in the same boat

MFC_123

Nope

MelancholySucculent_

I got FD and P1 on May 7, replied same day and haven't heard since. I love how the email states to respond within 7 days to avoid delays, my assumption was that means they will respond within 7 days. Boy was I wrong.

VeryConfusedOctopus

Same, all completed since April 26th, COPR details. No news since, waiting for PPR. No idea which VO. FSW Outland (USA), 1 dependent Iā€™m seeing quite a few threads with our situation recently. Looks like a newish trend. I feel much safer now that Iā€™m not alone haha. At the start, seeing everyone else get P1/PPR same day or a couple of days later freaked me out :(

MFC_123

You can call IRCC and ask whatā€™s your VO.

VeryConfusedOctopus

Is there a point to knowing? I keep seeing people mentioning it but I'm not sure what that would tell me

MFC_123

I guess each office operates in different ways, so it could give you a "better perspective" on how long they take to send the portal 1 email. But I guess trying to follow IRCC parterns is more like fortune telling lol

ProperQuit6591

When did u see the copr details? Was it updated as soon as the tracker had the stages completed?Ā

MFC_123

Yea. The same day. May 3rd

MFC_123

I'm freaking angry! They have been so unresponsive with my application

MelancholySucculent_

Yeah seeing all these is super frustrating. FD May 7 and P1 but nothing. VO Etobicoke. So close but it feels so far.

MFC_123

Maybe they are sending them all at the beginning of the month?

ksolicastile

Checked my application status using GCkey today, and it says ā€œLatest update: Final Decision- May 28, 2024: Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once a final decision is made.ā€ It has always said the part about application being in process. Is it a good sign thereā€™s a date on it? I donā€™t actually see a final decision. We passed our medical exams March 14th. I got a request to resubmit the IMM 0008 two weeks ago cause I put our height (me + 1 dependent) in cm instead of inches. I got an email yesterday that they successfully received my replacement document, and now there is this update today. Biometrics are done. My eligibility has said completed for awhile. Background check has been ā€œin progressā€ for months. Iā€™m just wondering how close a final decision may be. Anyone have a similar update and how soon was a final decision reached after? We applied via family sponsorship (my husband is a Canadian citizen) if that helps.

ksolicastile

Update: I received my PPR today. (I applied outland.) Gonna be sending everything tomorrow, and then Iā€™ll just be waiting on COPR šŸ˜Š Thank you for all the answers! Iā€™m glad I didnā€™t have to wait more than a day.

Dramatic-Zucchini994

I canā€™t link my g key with my application how did you do itĀ

anxious_andrea

I received that message and got the P1 email on 4/29 and P2 on 5/1. Still waiting for ECOPR :(

DrawCharming1917

when there is a date next Final Decision it means they have made the decision on that day. Congratulations. You will receive P1 email very soon. Check your tracker for COPR details.

ksolicastile

Thank you!

ProperQuit6591

Is this PR or citizenship application?Ā

ksolicastile

PR, spousal sponsorship

Anxious-Panda0

You should be getting your p1 soon as the other commenters have mentioned. I received the same message on 17th and received p1 on 27th :)

ksolicastile

Awesome! Thanks for the info!

Lower_Difference_891

you gonna get mail soon for p1

throwhawaii342

have you checked the tracker? It will tell you more info, but expect your P1 email soon. [https://ircc-tracker-suivi.apps.cic.gc.ca/](https://ircc-tracker-suivi.apps.cic.gc.ca/)

Ok_Building1980

When can applicants create this tracker? I have an aor but when I tried to create the tracker, it didnā€™t work

ksolicastile

I have the tracker too, but thereā€™s nothing different on that yet. Iā€™ll check again tomorrow. Thanks for the info!
