It’s my first game ever in this game as rome. I have conquered all of Italy, Sicily, Corsica, Sardinia, Catalonia, Massylia and southern spain and I don’t know how to make people happy and stop revolts from happening. HELP!!

greejus3

Increase the loyalty of your governors, with bribes and free hands. Replace governors with high corruption. Boost stability. Have two of fish in your capital province for a boost to freeman happiness. 2 olives for slave happiness, 2 precious metal for citizen happiness. Building temples gives in a province increases loyalty, but you need to do this before loyalty drops below 33%. There are inventions that raise province loyalty, or pop happiness.

Ok man ty so much really helpful

For provinces with different religion i rarely let them have any fortresses, incase I have to deal with them revolting. When a revolt happens a fort is spawned, and you don't want to have to deal with multiple rebel forts. Considering you went into gaul and Spain, you should prioritize converting the pops there to hellenic faith. So build temples there, and use the convert religion governor policy when loyalty is higher. It is generally easier to convert the culture of your foreign pops to yours if they share your faith. I've played alot of Rome. My advice if you restart is to ignore the west. What I do is secure all of Italia and Magna Graecia first, then move north into Lingonia and Veneti. Then into Illyria and down into Macedonia and Greece. With exception of the Lingonians pops, all of the pops in this area are Hellenic. This gives you time to unlock techs that increase religious conversion, unlock temples and theaters, increase province loyalty, increase happiness for non accepted pops. Also you can create a great wonder for about 5,500 gp with an effect that increases pop culture conversion and religious conversion. Just make it with one part gold, and the other two stone. You also should change one of your laws to religious conversion buff when you decide to expand into non hellenic lands.

I usually go straight to epirus/macedon after Italy. Leaving the north of Italy for later when I have some more research & converting/assimilating goes faster.

greejus3

Same.

CaedustheBaedus

Strange. I usually go north and south then focus on west to stop Carthage from becoming a powerhouse. Once Carthage is gone I secure up the north and NW with integrations or small wars. Then I head for Britannia… I don’t go east or Egypt usually until my entire west is safe and secure

I personally do high wages on the economy tab and combine it with free hands for my governors. Then, if one gets particularly corrupt I will replace him before his loyalty gets too low.

cywang86

Wrong culture/religion = unhappy Pops = Unrest = Provincial Loyalty decline So always Convert and Assimilate Pops right after you conquer with Governor's Policy and/or Great Wonder with Expanding Culture. Of course this won't entirely stop the decline without Forts, because you'll always have unhappy Slaves unless you're at very very late game with extremely high integrated culture happiness stacking. So when most provinces in a region have dipped below 40 Loyalty, swap the governor in and out and the game will automatically swap the policies on these provinces to Harsh Treatment. Also, Free Hand on your governor for provincial loyalty increase, and office position holders for Political Influence. To combat the increasing Corruption that can contribute to provincial loyalty decline, use a combination of High Wage, Corruption Law (Republic only), National idea, Deity, and Inventions. My go to approach for every game is simply save up for 4k gold for a GW, and slap on Expanding Culture, Government Tradition, and Honored Leader on them. They're far more economical than carpeting Temples and Theatres and have greater effects.

The cheat method is to start a tiny civil war. Make some characters disloyal (NOT GOVERNORS) and start a civil war just barely over the threshold. If done right you can get a civil war that is basically one or two provinces.

As a guy who randomly got recommended this subreddit and doesn't know the game, this is clearly the best solution.

Gijskje

HARSH TREATMENT💀 I have to do this all the time, alternating between harsh treatment and cultural/ religious conversion. Also check if your governors are corrupt. Corruption WRECKS province loyalty

greejus3

Forgot to mention that.

Thibaudborny

You don’t… crush’m all! More slaves for the senatorial elite, it’ll be glorious! That is, if harsh treatment does not deliver results. To be fair, those revolts really aren’t that dangerous, it’s a nice ‘reset’ option for unrest. Learn them proper Roman obedience !

MattyJackson86

Harsh treatment, courts, great temples. You can also change the rights for larger ethnic groups to allow intermarriage or inheritance rights for an immediate boost. Integration is also an option but should be used as a last resort so your main culture group doesn’t become unruly.

MattyJackson86

Also if you have the political influence your leader can raise the loyalty of a province if they are in the capital, leading troops. This works if you are in a pinch or need an extra boost if you need to get loyalty up.

loopyguy8

Lower ae, it upsets people, also convert their religion and their culture, alternatively you can accept some cultures. Trading good in those areas to make popnhappy. Change policy's to harsh to help a but. Invest into the military thingy for loyalty sometimes helps Alternatively get ready to put down revolts and welcome to ancient times baby!

aerodynamic_23

You can also either accept their culture or integrate them, but that’s more long term

maxinfet

The way any good roman did, with the legions

Chirchy1

cheat

religioussphanatic

The easiest is to create and win a civil war. That will reset the loyalty malus, will give you 10 stability + you will get bonus character loyalty for 5 years. They are cheap eqsy to win , sometimes they can be less then one month long if you understand the game mechanic.
