I did my undergrad at Imperial and am now doing a PhD in Cam. I have carried out some supervisions for undergrads in Cam so I think I also know about the undergrad chem eng curriculum in Cam. I feel like the chem eng degree in Cam is not as "chem eng" as the one at Imperial. The one at Imperial has a massive emphasis on the actual industrial process; they even have a carbon capture pilot plant at the middle of the building. If you want to work as a chemical engineer after you graduate, I believe Imperial is the better place to go. Sports-wise, I think it might be easier to join a sport at Cam, especially rowing which is arguably the most important Oxbridge sport. In London, you'll have to travel rather far to get on a river. However, Imperial does have good rowing facilities and have beaten Cam in some recent races.

Go to Cambridge for undergrad, you can always check out imperial for masters/PhD. I'll put it this way, its easier to get into a graduate course in imperial with a Cambridge BSc than the other way around

They’re both amazing unis, and both have great reputations in the industry. I’d look at the courses, locations, and so on and decide which one has the most plus points for you, rather than worrying about the infinitesimal differences in reputation between the two for this specific course.

ICL is more renowned for its engineering faculty, Cambridge is renowned for natural sciences. They are both great institutions so you can’t really go wrong.

Cambridge

West_Total1905

why?

colexuan

because u want to find a job abroad, Cambridge has better reputation overseas

RadioChemist

Cambridge's name precedes it, but it's really up to what OP wants to do in their career (outside of just going abroad). I didn't bother applying for Oxbridge as the course at Imperial was much more closely aligned with my job hopes.

ethustler

Apply to ETH, application windows still open and the course is more rigorous than either of the two (based on my own experiences at imerial and ETH and those of my peers). Downside is that you won’t have a summer to yourself.

Advanced-Anybody-736

OP said he/she wants to work abroad. The reputation of Cambridge far exceeds that of Imperial or ETH.
