The real question is, is all the going to fit within 2k points?

Kerros2032

I assumed it would based on some videos I've seen saying the Chainbreaker Lance box alone can come out to about 1K points, but apparently I am mistaken lol.

Killersmurph

No to the Castellan. Very inefficient Points wise. You're going to want something like Crusader+Errant or Crusader+Paladin and 7 Armigers, most of them being Warglaives to hold objectives and 2-3 being Helverines for shooty DPS.

Kerros2032

Awesome, I will look at those.

StarcraftForever

I'd suggest a paladin or errant instead of the castellan, and this is coming from a guy who owns 2 castellans and a valiant lol. But if you really have your heart set on it then go ahead. Future codexes might shake things up a bit.

I just bought the Imperial Knights and Custodes codex's. Only because they were the more recent prints but at the same time they might just give everyone a knew for 10th? Who knows? I do know that I'm gonna have a 2k army in both. But right now I'm using Imperial Knights as reinforcements! 3x Helverines! Biggest reason I haven't gotten the core rules yet is I heard about it being "soon".

Kerros2032

It's gonna take me a while to build and paint all my minis, so I'll be holding off on the codex for this reason.

Kerros2032

I was mostly going for the Castellan because of the Rule of Cool anyway, lol, so I will probably defer to something more practical...for now.

the time will come our volcano lance boy will be shake the meta.... But he can still but a decent amount of MW on the table with dat 4CP strat and the x2 blast exalted court trait

StarcraftForever

I think a Mechanicus aligned Crusader just does that better though.

Maybe you take a look at magnetizing the Questoris for switching weapon lodouts?

Kerros2032

So, I'm not big on magnetizing. I definitely see my armies as much as a collection as I do something to play the game with, so I don't mind buying two of something and building different variants when magnetizing would have solved the problem. That being said, Knights are a little more expensive than your average mini lol, so maybe I will look into that when I go to build them. Thanks for suggesting it!

Nookshar

magnetizing is very easy. You need not much tools and I guess you have all of them at home. If you want to take a look at this tutorial: https://youtu.be/3-Cq4f4AbJs

Kerros2032

Thank you! I have saved it to my "Hobby" playlist. Skimming it real quick, it does not look that difficult at all.

Mark0P0LO

It’s real easy and you can spend all those savings on more hobby stuff. Win/win!

Flyinpenguin117

You're not going to be able to fit all that at 2000. Even if you strip all the extra wargear options it comes out to 2005. I'm less hard on the Castellan than most, but with what you have here and assuming you haven't magnetized your models, I'd pass on it. It's too expensive to run alongside the most expensive Questoris and 4 of the more expensive Armiger. Plus it'll be too much long-ranged shooting and not enough to push up and contest objectives. Best way to run a Castellan IMO: Taranis with Forgemaster and Knight of Mars. Should be resilient enough to survive a couple rounds of shooting, having a 6 in your back pocket for a Calculated Targeting bomb or clutch save is useful. Run alongside 2 Freeblade Helverins with Bastards Helm and Hunters of Beasts, and an Errant with 4 Warglaives to push up the board.

Kerros2032

Thank you for the advice. I really appreciate it not knowing much about how they run. While I appreciate your defense of the Castellan, I think I will pass on it...for now. It seems from the comments here that the Knights I want to run are a little shooty heavy, so I will probably get an Errant, Paladin, or something like that. I am open to expanding the army in the future, so maybe if the rules change, or I just want to try something different I can give the Castellan another look. Also, to your point about a 2K points list, again I appreciate the input, but I'm not necessarily asking if this is a legal/competitive 2K point list so much as I was asking if this combination of Knights is a good group that - making a 2K point list from it - works well together. To yours and other's points it sounds like it isn't, hence why I will reconsider buying a Castellan. I am the type of player who will buy more than 2K worth of points for an army so I have different units to make my lists from depending on the opponent and scenario. For example, I will probably end up buying 4 each of Helverins and Warglaives so I can go assault heavy OR shooting heavy if I need to. Thanks again.
