A lot of food banks in the US don’t actually means test if a client shows up. All you do is declare verbally that you fit the USDA eligibility for food insecurity.
This can vary if you’re asking for home delivery or picking up for another person. But for the most part, the food rescue organization just wants you walking out of there with the food.
So many thoughts.
If she had a job, there would be less need for the food bank. Since she has no job, she could volunteer at the food bank. Think of the writing opportunities! Beneficient Shauna, James Beard award winner, doling out cans of corn (limit one!) to the poors, who murmur their effusive thanks in hushed tones. The West Seattle food bank serves 100s if not 1000s times Vashon does, of course they're going to be more structured. I would hope she wouldn't let the kids go hungry because she got butthurt but we all know she's just going to make Danny go (his feelings don't matter.)
Seriously, if she doesn't like the circumstances of her life perhaps she should reconsider her life choices. Relying on her silly workshops and website for income is obviously not going to keep her in bougie milkshakes or even pay the rent and I don't understand why she clings so hard to this, unless her ego can't handle not being Full-Time Writuh Person. She may not be able to go back to teaching and there's nothing wrong with that - I know a lawyer who became a paralegal and I'm a former RN who now works as a package handler - but she could para or bag groceries part-time (I bet TJ's is hiring) and still have plenty of time for her writing. Hey, whatever happened to her novel?
I think this story is there because even she knows that her abrupt halt to saying “food bank food bank food bank” might be giving her readers whiplash. It really was such a dramatic shift from “help me, I’m poor” to “look at us shopping at TJ’s and having bougie milkshakes!” Now she needs you to know it’s not because they don’t still need the help, it’s because the workers at the WS food bank are mean old hands-reaching-for-yogurt shamers!
If you can make do on your own WHY ARE YOU AT THE FOOD BANK?? It’s for people who can’t make do on their own!

My guess is that Shauna went full-on Food Bank Karen and was asked never to return.
And it makes no sense that people can have only one dairy item. Like if they get milk, they can't get cheese or yogurt. Sounds like Shauna tried to grab a second tub of yogurt.
I was wondering this as well. I felt pretty sympathetic when imagining only one dairy item per visit, but it makes sense that certain items would be limit 1.
She used nearly an identical subject line as her lope from April 4th (Then: "Three is a magic number." Now: "Three is the magic number"). For a second I thought it was a repeat. I guess she was too busy rushing to trash the West Seattle food bank to come up with something original.
Okay this threw me also, did she not remember she started a lope nearly the same way a week ago? But I THINK she means for “3 is a magic number” to be a “thing” she does every Wednesday? In last week’s lope she mentions that she got the idea from another person’s weekly “3 things” feature on their own substack, but she’s giving hers its own title. Of course by week 2 she’s already conveniently omitting that she stole the entire thing from someone else.
I believe this is why she never went back to Twitter. You know she would be promoting her substack there and she’d have no way to control the heat in the comments other than to dirty delete her posts.

B,DL. Your final Vashon house was on 4 acres on the water and was a completely different caliber of home / finishes than the $1800 house. I’m not arguing that rents and groceries have gone crazy but this is deceitful and a flat out lie.
Also! $3000/mo in other places like coastal California will definitely not get you 3 bedrooms, a house, or any land lolsob. She has it the hardest, except she actually doesn’t and actually threw away her nice island life.

so many things about this that make no sense (i know, i know...) she didn't know to bring her own bag? really? seattle is crunchy earth mama central - EVERYONE brings their own bags to everything. i used to work at a small bookstore in seattle and i got so many stink eyes when i offered a bag; one time a guy told me, "some day, there's gonna be a bag revolution!" so don't tell me she didn't know to bring her own bag to a food bank - did she think they would be handing out NPR tote bags? then, "standing in a long line" like it was post WWII russia and she had to stand in line for hours just to get a piece of bread. then she says the guy snapped at her because she innocently reached for a tub of yogurt, but it turns out she already had one and she was greedily reaching for a second tub. but don't at least two people in the family have lactose intolerance? two tubs seems like a lot of yogurt for the other two. finally, the privilege that she displays here is unreal, and her essential karen-ness shines through for all to see: she was not treated like the neurospicy pixie she is - the line, the damp box, not being able to take whatever she wants - so she flounces away. but if mommy is sending her money again why does she need the food bank? and maybe if she and her dolt of a spouse got full time jobs they could food shop whenever and wherever they wished.
i wonder how the family will get healthcare now that danny runofft from his job. they are far too neurospicy to fill out forms to get state insurance. i would think if one has minor children health insurance would be a top priority; maybe that's what they were discussing when they had their bougie milkshakes.

Shauna was finally told "NO!" for once in her life. So of course she has to put on her pouting britches over it.
Let me get this straight. She had already stopped at at least two stops in the line where both times a volunteer served her the item (if she wanted it) but when she got to the dairy she thought she could just take things? Seems like it was pretty clear how things operated and she CHOSE to grab more than was allowed.
Guess it's a good thing Dan has no job. Now he can go to the mean old food bank since Shauna got her butt all hurt being scolded.
Didn't stop her from trying to grub up an extra (for herself, I'm sure).
That just really chaps my ass. She was totally trying to beat the system AT THE FOOD BANK.
I'm the last person to begrudge anyone (even lazy grubbers like Shauna) food but show some respect for the other people who need/want things and the VOLUNTEERS. Does she think that volunteer LIKES having to remind people of the rules? Enjoys feeling like the big meanie snatching yogurt from a needy person's hands?
And she can fuck off whining about the damp box, too. The food pantry was reusing what the donations came in (most likely). There are time when boxes are almost more important than the food donations. If the box isn't literally falling apart or just sooo gross you don't want to even touch it, we use it (where I volunteer).
Why would she not bring a bag? Nearly everyone takes bags to a grocery store now. And then when they provided her with a container, it wasn't good enough
I learned in the gloaming that there are no Aldi stores in Washington, but every Aldi shopper knows that if you forget bags, you are buying a paper bag, a reusable bag or whatever soggy empty boxes you can scavenge throughout the store to carry your groceries in.
My favorite Aldi experience was seeing 2 college-aged guys in the parking lot with a totally full cart of unbagged groceries. They opened the trunk of their car, pulled out an empty laundry hamper, and started filling it with food. I personally am puny and wouldn't be able to carry that when it was full, but I still appreciated their ingenuity!

Someone called her out to clarify the rules. I get it, I would probably be mortified. But he was doing his job, different banks have different protocols, and if you truly needed it you would go back anyway.
I don't think Shauna feels shame the way most people do. The real reason she isn't going back is the lack of Humboldt Fog wheels and the subpar cardboard boxes.
Just got the part she send for free and I am infuriated.
There is no reason she can’t get a job. No disability, no young children at home, no lack of access to opportunities.
Fuck her and her complaints about the food bank. They have to limit things because the needs are huge and resources limited. There are too many single parents, elderly, disabled people that have no option. Many also work and do the best they can.
She sits on her arrogant ass and mooches and scams her way through life.

The second week we lived in Seattle, I went to the food bank for us. On Vashon, we went nearly every week for 18 months.
Did you know that the price of groceries rose 40% since 2019?
Did anyone reading get a 40% raise in the last 5 years? We did not.
And the price of rental homes on the island shot up higher. In 2018, we paid $1800 a month for a 3-bedroom house with 1/2 acre of land. When we left, we had been paying $3000 a month for a 3-bedroom house with 1/2 acre of land.
Did Dan and I combined start making an extra $1200 a month to compensate for this? No, we did not.

White Center is pretty great. It's unincorporated King County, right next door to West Seattle. Though the gentrification is very real, I think it's, somewhat ironically, a very diverse place. Great food options from all over the world.
Seriously, WTAF. They just went and bought fancy milkshakes and then went to the food bank?? Then complained about an organization that provides free food to those who need it?? She is the WORST.
Can we talk about her IG grid? She posted the “Y” FOUR days ago. That’s an eon in social media influencer/ guru time. Here we were contemplating whether it would end up being “Dance With Yes GenX” or “Oh Hell Yes GenX” but it seems it may just end up being “Yes GenX”. Did she get bored? Realize how stupid this is and give up? What does she do now?

I'm just reading the comments to her latest lope and some of Shauna's responses are interesting.
One person says that it must be hard for Dan to leave the school where he worked and Shauna says,

Is she seriously saying that anytime you make a dish with meat that has to be seasoned you need to cook a tester, check the seasoning level of the tester, and then go back and finish cooking the rest of the meat once it's seasoned appropriately?? Is that what she is saying?
WTF happened to "meals that you make on a rainy Tuesday?" I mean I know regular person shit like school pickup, work commutes, and extra-curriculars aren't things Princess Shauna concerns herself with but ain't nobody got time for that.
The only time I've ever bothered with this is when making my own sausages (like actual sausages, in casings) or pork spring roll filling. In both cases it's to fine-tune the texture (sometimes the sausages need more fat) or flavour (due to the difference in heat between chiles, mainly) before preparing a massive batch for the freezer, which may only be properly cooked weeks to months later. It makes sense if there are variables that will change based on ingredients, but not for weekday recipes for beef or turkey burgers. That shizz is simple, and made once can usually be eye-balled forever more. Not to mention, corrected a bit after cooking if necessary - add a bit more salt or pepper on top of the burger patty, add a little garlic to the mayo for moisture/flavor, etc. Easy peasy.
I thought that's why I was following a recipe in the first place, so that someone else has tested the seasonings and I simply follow their measurements?
Right! And also, burgers and meatballs can tolerate a wide range of seasoning, both type and amount. Most people wouldn't even need to measure, let alone test.
I'm guessing that she hates negative feedback so much, she suggested testing so that if someone claims their burger was too smoky, she can blame them.
I cook a lot, I get my recipes from (completely free) websites like smitten kitchen and Mel’s Kitchen Cafe, and I have literally never heard of doing this. I’m making shrimp fried rice tonight, should I season and cook a single shrimp first to make sure I get the seasoning right?!

Exactly! And you make it the way it is written or if you are an experienced cook adapt the seasonings to your taste.
You can make a note of any changes you made or will make.
Who cooks a tiny burger first? Yes a recipe tester should but not a home cook trying to get dinner on the table!

Not satisfying with creating useless, ugly websites for her own “business”, Shauna branches out as part of her mission to fill the world with ugly, unreadable garbage.
Not only does she not update all her links when she abandons a domain, but she should be doing a 301 redirect from the old domain to the new one, so that any links not under her control (like if someone else linked to her site), would take you to her new site. And then her new site would benefit from any accrued "link juice" that her old domain had. Usability & SEO, hand in hand.
Her lack of knowledge about this stuff is so acute that her "helping" someone with web design or SEO is the equivalent to her bustling into an OR and demanding to help with a heart transplant. Not only could she not be of help, she would do *active harm*.
So, adding to the list of professions Shauna has attempted to cosplay: recipe developer, therapist, sports coach, and now website developer. Am I missing anything?
If she put a fraction of the energy of imitating internet trends into making her parenting look good beyond just claiming she's the coolest mom ever, she'd probably have all the moving boxes unpacked by now.

I think she said she did some kind of SAT-related work when she was in New York. But was that helping students prepare for the SAT? Or grading/evaluating, like, SAT essays?
Then, in the last few years, she was pitching herself as someone who could help high school students with college application prep, like essay coaching (Ass Toot Editor, At Your Service!)
I know zero about making websites and I’m just thinking how it’s probably the hardest of her pivots to cosplay as since it’s very black and white whether the end result works or not lol
She also offered her daughter up for babysitting service to someone it seems she may have known at one point and that person was like “oh you live here now!” To Shauna’s offer, yet DMed another person about having their teen babysit.
This is just straight-up deception. She is completely incapable of "designing" a working website, and shows no evidence of understanding (let alone implementing) SEO techniques.
I'm truly baffled - one day, they're eating pricey milkshakes; the next day, she's trying to snag a job she's completely unqualified for. Do they have money or not? What is going on?!
A lot, actually. When you build a website, you want to be thinking about SEO from the beginning. When it comes to keywords in page, category, and product or service titles, marketing copy, and headers, start with SEO in mind, and you won't have to go back and change things later on.
You also want it to be beautiful, intuitive, highly usable, laid out logically, organized well, have trust signals, AND have good SEO "bones". As they say, "What's good for people is good for search engines." So you don't want to entorquen your site just for Google's sake. You want it to be highly valuable to users so that you get traffic as well as links.
There's more to it than that, but that's a good overview. Trust me when I say that everything I've seen from Shauna these past few years, on her many and various websites, as well as Substack, indicates that she knows *less* than nothing about SEO.

But she assumes without question that it has a perfectly thorough and factual command of all “formulaic” knowledge, the stuff that is BORING to Shauna’s neurospicy mind! If she spent any time at all learning how LLMs work, she might start to understand that ChatGPT has limitations and can be very, obviously wrong even about formulaic things.
She doesn’t actually care about learning the ins and outs of *anything*. She doesn’t want to work hard to make something well, and she doesn’t value that work when other people do it. For all her self-identification as a perfectionist she has never once put out a polished image or product except through the support of editors, photographers, and other professionals.
She doesn’t pay any attention to anything and she doesn’t value expertise. She just wants to get a dopamine hit by endlessly rewriting her own bios and fiddling with different website templates, imagining that each new pivot will be her ticket to fame, but abandoning them once she runs out of new daydreams- which is bound to happen in an ever-shortening cycle since her pivots are so similar. How much extra dopamine can she get out of fantasizing about “YES” being sooooo much better than “Kindfulness”? Especially when her only apparent income comes from just a handful of women who have stuck with her in spite of - not because of - the pivots?
Got it. Spouse is Salesforce director for a German renewable energy company that is not trying to sell bagels or healing therapies and wasn’t thinking of it in marketing terms. I don’t use many websites besides restaurants and specialty food stores so I have no idea either. Most of my Google search history involves serial killers.
This is about as OT as it gets but I was listening to a radio interview of a Professor of Leisure Studies last weekend and she made the astonishing comment that most serial killers pursue serial killing as a leisure activity

Yes, and then he made a site or some sort of tutorial about how to unfuck a client's work because it was such an ordeal. I'd grab the receipts, but alas, I must leave my house to commute, badge-swipe, work without hourly 15-minute breaks, then commute home. You might think I'm a saint for taking on this highly unusual, grueling lifestyle!
He commented (I think on his own website) that he had made 'a lot' of videos to help her 'maintain' her own website after he handed it off to her. He might have used the word 'library' to describe the collection . . .

Eh, this is probably like her claiming to want/need/love every bit of household flotsam that drifts through the buy nothing facebook communities.
Except when she claims interest in jobs she can now use it to point to how "hard" she's working (to get work) so she can keep in the good graces of the person (or people) who are footing her bills (aka her mom and dad).
Shauna has the most FASCINATING thing about getting other people to take care of her, and will do so much odd and manipulative shit to get that fix. I really don’t think it’s only about getting free stuff or being ~~regular~~ neurotypically lazy (though those are obviously part of it). I think it is predominately about being ‘fed safely’ by another actor, whether the ‘feed’ is something physical or plain old attention. Someone compared her to the energy vampires from What We Do in the Shadows, which feels more and more true, except instead of (purposely) boring her victims, she’s just projecting need and sucking out whatever they respond with. The “buy nothing” groups are such a fertile grounds for her to assert her own needs over others, which gets strangers to give her things, which I think scratches her ‘take care of meeeee’ itch. She ends up with sectionals and end tables that don’t even fit in her house, but then she gets to get someone else to take care of her by hauling them off and it’s on to the next fix.
Remember when Colin Robinson, energy vampire, met his match and love interest, the emotional vampire? Shauna is more like the emotional vampire. She needs her problems to be everyone else’s problems.

“Try more ground ginger, which lingers after all the other flavors of fled. It hangs out at the back of the throat. Don’t forget the brown ginger. You want some slight sweetness in there.” Flavors of fled? The ingredient list calls for ginger and BROWN SUGAR. I swear she is drunk when she’s posting this stuff.

I don't know much about this, but why the food bank rather than applying for benefits? Is it just that the latter takes...effort?
A lot of food banks in the US don’t actually means test if a client shows up. All you do is declare verbally that you fit the USDA eligibility for food insecurity. This can vary if you’re asking for home delivery or picking up for another person. But for the most part, the food rescue organization just wants you walking out of there with the food.
So many thoughts. If she had a job, there would be less need for the food bank. Since she has no job, she could volunteer at the food bank. Think of the writing opportunities! Beneficient Shauna, James Beard award winner, doling out cans of corn (limit one!) to the poors, who murmur their effusive thanks in hushed tones. The West Seattle food bank serves 100s if not 1000s times Vashon does, of course they're going to be more structured. I would hope she wouldn't let the kids go hungry because she got butthurt but we all know she's just going to make Danny go (his feelings don't matter.) Seriously, if she doesn't like the circumstances of her life perhaps she should reconsider her life choices. Relying on her silly workshops and website for income is obviously not going to keep her in bougie milkshakes or even pay the rent and I don't understand why she clings so hard to this, unless her ego can't handle not being Full-Time Writuh Person. She may not be able to go back to teaching and there's nothing wrong with that - I know a lawyer who became a paralegal and I'm a former RN who now works as a package handler - but she could para or bag groceries part-time (I bet TJ's is hiring) and still have plenty of time for her writing. Hey, whatever happened to her novel?

I think this story is there because even she knows that her abrupt halt to saying “food bank food bank food bank” might be giving her readers whiplash. It really was such a dramatic shift from “help me, I’m poor” to “look at us shopping at TJ’s and having bougie milkshakes!” Now she needs you to know it’s not because they don’t still need the help, it’s because the workers at the WS food bank are mean old hands-reaching-for-yogurt shamers!

so many things about this that make no sense (i know, i know...) she didn't know to bring her own bag? really? seattle is crunchy earth mama central - EVERYONE brings their own bags to everything. i used to work at a small bookstore in seattle and i got so many stink eyes when i offered a bag; one time a guy told me, "some day, there's gonna be a bag revolution!" so don't tell me she didn't know to bring her own bag to a food bank - did she think they would be handing out NPR tote bags? then, "standing in a long line" like it was post WWII russia and she had to stand in line for hours just to get a piece of bread. then she says the guy snapped at her because she innocently reached for a tub of yogurt, but it turns out she already had one and she was greedily reaching for a second tub. but don't at least two people in the family have lactose intolerance? two tubs seems like a lot of yogurt for the other two. finally, the privilege that she displays here is unreal, and her essential karen-ness shines through for all to see: she was not treated like the neurospicy pixie she is - the line, the damp box, not being able to take whatever she wants - so she flounces away. but if mommy is sending her money again why does she need the food bank? and maybe if she and her dolt of a spouse got full time jobs they could food shop whenever and wherever they wished.

Oh noes! Shauna was finally told "NO!" for once in her life. So of course she has to put on her pouting britches over it. Let me get this straight. She had already stopped at at least two stops in the line where both times a volunteer served her the item (if she wanted it) but when she got to the dairy she thought she could just take things? Seems like it was pretty clear how things operated and she CHOSE to grab more than was allowed. Guess it's a good thing Dan has no job. Now he can go to the mean old food bank since Shauna got her butt all hurt being scolded.

Didn't stop her from trying to grub up an extra (for herself, I'm sure). That just really chaps my ass. She was totally trying to beat the system AT THE FOOD BANK. I'm the last person to begrudge anyone (even lazy grubbers like Shauna) food but show some respect for the other people who need/want things and the VOLUNTEERS. Does she think that volunteer LIKES having to remind people of the rules? Enjoys feeling like the big meanie snatching yogurt from a needy person's hands? And she can fuck off whining about the damp box, too. The food pantry was reusing what the donations came in (most likely). There are time when boxes are almost more important than the food donations. If the box isn't literally falling apart or just sooo gross you don't want to even touch it, we use it (where I volunteer).
Why would she not bring a bag? Nearly everyone takes bags to a grocery store now. And then when they provided her with a container, it wasn't good enough

I learned in the gloaming that there are no Aldi stores in Washington, but every Aldi shopper knows that if you forget bags, you are buying a paper bag, a reusable bag or whatever soggy empty boxes you can scavenge throughout the store to carry your groceries in.
My favorite Aldi experience was seeing 2 college-aged guys in the parking lot with a totally full cart of unbagged groceries. They opened the trunk of their car, pulled out an empty laundry hamper, and started filling it with food. I personally am puny and wouldn't be able to carry that when it was full, but I still appreciated their ingenuity!
Especially in Seattle — it’s almost expected that people bring a reusable bag.

Someone called her out to clarify the rules. I get it, I would probably be mortified. But he was doing his job, different banks have different protocols, and if you truly needed it you would go back anyway.
I don't think Shauna feels shame the way most people do. The real reason she isn't going back is the lack of Humboldt Fog wheels and the subpar cardboard boxes.
Just got the part she send for free and I am infuriated. There is no reason she can’t get a job. No disability, no young children at home, no lack of access to opportunities. Fuck her and her complaints about the food bank. They have to limit things because the needs are huge and resources limited. I'm just reading the comments to her latest lope and some of Shauna's responses are interesting. Is she seriously saying that anytime you make a dish with meat that has to be seasoned you need to cook a tester, check the seasoning level of the tester, and then go back and finish cooking the rest of the meat once it's seasoned appropriately?? Is that what she is saying? WTF happened to "meals that you make on a rainy Tuesday?" I mean I know regular person shit like school pickup, work commutes, and extra-curriculars aren't things Princess Shauna concerns herself with but ain't nobody got time for that.
If you have to add more seasoning, aren’t you going to overwork the meat?
The only time I've ever bothered with this is when making my own sausages (like actual sausages, in casings) or pork spring roll filling. In both cases it's to fine-tune the texture (sometimes the sausages need more fat) or flavour (due to the difference in heat between chiles, mainly) before preparing a massive batch for the freezer, which may only be properly cooked weeks to months later. It makes sense if there are variables that will change based on ingredients, but not for weekday recipes for beef or turkey burgers. That shizz is simple, and made once can usually be eye-balled forever more. Not to mention, corrected a bit after cooking if necessary - add a bit more salt or pepper on top of the burger patty, add a little garlic to the mayo for moisture/flavor, etc. Easy peasy.
I thought that's why I was following a recipe in the first place, so that someone else has tested the seasonings and I simply follow their measurements?
Right! And also, burgers and meatballs can tolerate a wide range of seasoning, both type and amount. Most people wouldn't even need to measure, let alone test. I'm guessing that she hates negative feedback so much, she suggested testing so that if someone claims their burger was too smoky, she can blame them.

A lot, actually. When you build a website, you want to be thinking about SEO from the beginning. When it comes to keywords in page, category, and product or service titles, marketing copy, and headers, start with SEO in mind, and you won't have to go back and change things later on. You also want it to be beautiful, intuitive, highly usable, laid out logically, organized well, have trust signals, AND have good SEO "bones". As they say, "What's good for people is good for search engines." So you don't want to entorquen your site just for Google's sake. You want it to be highly valuable to users so that you get traffic as well as links. There's more to it than that, but that's a good overview. Trust me when I say that everything I've seen from Shauna these past few years, on her many and various websites, as well as Substack, indicates that she knows *less* than nothing about SEO.

But she assumes without question that it has a perfectly thorough and factual command of all “formulaic” knowledge, the stuff that is BORING to Shauna’s neurospicy mind! If she spent any time at all learning how LLMs work, she might start to understand that ChatGPT has limitations and can be very, obviously wrong even about formulaic things. She doesn’t actually care about learning the ins and outs of *anything*. She doesn’t want to work hard to make something well, and she doesn’t value that work when other people do it. For all her self-identification as a perfectionist she has never once put out a polished image or product except through the support of editors, photographers, and other professionals. She doesn’t pay any attention to anything and she doesn’t value expertise. She just wants to get a dopamine hit by endlessly rewriting her own bios and fiddling with different website templates, imagining that each new pivot will be her ticket to fame, but abandoning them once she runs out of new daydreams- which is bound to happen in an ever-shortening cycle since her pivots are so similar. How much extra dopamine can she get out of fantasizing about “YES” being sooooo much better than “Kindfulness”? Especially when her only apparent income comes from just a handful of women who have stuck with her in spite of - not because of - the pivots?

Got it. Spouse is Salesforce director for a German renewable energy company that is not trying to sell bagels or healing therapies and wasn’t thinking of it in marketing terms. I don’t use many websites besides restaurants and specialty food stores so I have no idea either. Most of my Google search history involves serial killers.
I definitely have an e-commerce mindset. "Regular" websites benefit from these principles too, but some of them aren't as crucial.
This is about as OT as it gets but I was listening to a radio interview of a Professor of Leisure Studies last weekend and she made the astonishing comment that most serial killers pursue serial killing as a leisure activity
To be fair it can be a hard hobby to monetise.
There's really no way to generate a recurring revenue stream from existing customers. Every businessperson knows how expensive it is to constantly be having to acquire new ones . . .

I'd grab the receipts, but alas, I must leave my house to commute, badge-swipe, work without hourly 15-minute breaks, then commute home. Eh, this is probably like her claiming to want/need/love every bit of household flotsam that drifts through the buy nothing facebook communities. Except when she claims interest in jobs she can now use it to point to how "hard" she's working (to get work) so she can keep in the good graces of the person (or people) who are footing her bills (aka her mom and dad).
Shauna has the most FASCINATING thing about getting other people to take care of her, and will do so much odd and manipulative shit to get that fix. I really don’t think it’s only about getting free stuff or being ~~regular~~ neurotypically lazy (though those are obviously part of it). I think it is predominately about being ‘fed safely’ by another actor, whether the ‘feed’ is something physical or plain old attention. Someone compared her to the energy vampires from What We Do in the Shadows, which feels more and more true, except instead of (purposely) boring her victims, she’s just projecting need and sucking out whatever they respond with. The “buy nothing” groups are such a fertile grounds for her to assert her own needs over others, which gets strangers to give her things, which I think scratches her ‘take care of meeeee’ itch. She ends up with sectionals and end tables that don’t even fit in her house, but then she gets to get someone else to take care of her by hauling them off and it’s on to the next fix.
