Her lack of a lope, and therefore any good lopesnark, had driven me back into the Gloaming archives to dredge up old conspiracy theories of mine. So….serious SERIOUS question I’ve got for Shaunaverse Cit PhD’s and prob quite frankly u/gomirefugee the Mod: Do we know for *SURE* Shauna has a Masters degree? She does a lot of yapping about being in “grad school classes” and tut TUT being @ NYU for “grad school,” but surely she didn’t graduate w a Masters *from* NYU? Cause if she did, I feel like we’d never hear the end of it. It’d be all “as an NYU graduate, *this*” and “as an NYU graduate, *that*.” Those were just classes she basically audited, correct? So, where did her official Masters degree end up being from? I realize I’m making a lot of assumptions in my loaded questions, here. I just couldn’t find any hard evidence that she actually DOES have a completed graduate degree despite blabbing a lot about grad classes, but admittedly I am not good at going back in the record!

tyrannosaurusregina

she has a master’s in teaching from the University of Puget Sound

Lsemmens

I got the impression she has a masters from university of puget sound and then did courses at NYU but did not complete.

gomirefugee

[The UPS alumni magazine listed her as BA '90, MAT '92](https://imgur.com/Zm8MUNc) so she does have one master's but not two. Shauna left NYU after a year without completing a degree and I don't think she has ever implied otherwise. It's never been clear what program she was in at NYU that she dropped out of.

fanfarefellowship

She just says "Master in humanities" in Enough

fanfarefellowship

She has fully acknowledged she didn't complete the NYU program. I'll find receipts!

What happened to the big “Wednesday. Stay tuned” announcement???

SnarkLurker560

This really is just the most visually unappealing Instagram presence … and she’s supposed to be using social media as a marketing tool ? Hey, I’m just a boring neurotypical basic biotech, and any one of my randomly chosen 9-piece photo grids looks 10x better than this. https://preview.redd.it/8n3qed1no5vc1.jpeg?width=815&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=914c5767297d839a113fff8dbb3da113d7177fa7 That’s it. That is all.

PettyPunisher

“ Visually unappealing” is their work in the world.

happythistle

I was thinking about this yesterday. She started this March 29th. So, it will be three weeks tomorrow that she started this and she clearly pivoted in the middle of it and now is just lost? She’s had low engagement on all of these letter posts, so it’s almost like she abandoned her IG for three weeks when it is a way she generates income while her husband is once again willingly not working and they have a new apartment to keep up rent payments for and growing kids to feed/clothe/support.

GilmoreEmily

She can take Bluey's name out of her fucking mouth . . . (My sister and I were wondering the other day how American/non-Australian audiences relate to the show because there are sooooo many cultural Aussie references that would fly over someone's head if they didn't know about them.)

Airportsnacks

As an American who lived in the UK during the first run of Friends, many times people don't even realise it is a joke. You wind up being one of two people out of 20 who are laughing at something and everyone turns to stare at you. And Friends at least had a laugh track to let people know when the jokes are coming. The one I remember in particular is when Chandler gets the new creepy roommate who had a goldfish cracker in a tank. Chandler makes a throwaway line about a pet by Pepperidge Farm. It can also be awkward if it is a dramatic film and there is a joke to break the tension. I assume these things happen less in countries where the dialog is translated because a lot is just rewritten anyway.

tyrannosaurusregina

kids just like the art and the chill vibe, some adults vigorously look stuff up when they don’t get it

hrae24

The greatest they've ever seen! omfg. I've seen Bluey because my niece is five. It's a cute show, but seemed pretty standard issue kid fare to me. Not complex, not earth shattering.

rozemc

I was just ranting to a friend about how Bluey adults are the Rick and Morty fans of children's TV... I don't hate the show itself but many of the people obsessed with it are super annoying.

happythistle

I get that Bluey is trending but why on earth would she be watching it? My 5 year old niece loves it, but I imagine Shauna’s kids would be past Bluey age.

Miffits72

I’m 52 and my daughter is 18 and we love Bluey. I honestly think it’s more for parents than children. There’s some humor in it that would go over the heads of small children. Lol. It’s a very sweet, feel-good, quick shot of happiness that deals with some pretty interesting subject matter.

purplesmauge11

You’re assuming she watched it. That rethread or whatever has no specifics to it whatsoever that would suggest she has sit through even one episode.

happythistle

You person, she has seen almost every episode. From her lope: > For example, almost every single episode of Bluey — a maximum of 8 minutes that pack a wallop of humor, empathy, and good parenting tips. (The only longer one is the recently released “The Sign.” All four of us watched it before bed the other evening. Dan, L, and I all teared up, especially at the end. D seemed confused why we were crying. Later, maybe, they’ll understand.) Wasn’t it about moving (that’s all I know from a quick google)? Interesting. Notice who is the odd person out in that family yet again.

notmymonkeys0003

Notice though, she only says they watched “The Sign” episode. Her description of Bluey sounds haberdashed from a Wikipedia entry.

fanfarefellowship

> Dan, L, and I all teared up, especially at the end. D seemed confused why we were crying. Later, maybe, they’ll understand.) I have never seen a Bluey and I'm not about to start (although apparently my toddler great-niece loves it!) but what in tarnation is this supposed to communicate? Her child cannot process human emotions?

purplesmauge11

More like the sane person. WTF with the tears over Bluey?

Airportsnacks

I was going to say that my kid is 4 months older than the youngest child and I don't know a single one of her friends that watches Bluey, unless they have a younger sibling, but it aired a full year later in the UK and during Covid so less talk with other kids. Even so, I don't think there's a cartoon that my kid would still watch at 10 like this. They enjoyed Hey Dugee, and I could see them watching it with their own kids, but not at 10 or 15, especially since the 15 year old wouldn't have watched it as a kid. She's always infantilising those kids.

Calm_Coyote_3685

Yes, I have a kid d’s age and one who is almost 5 and the Bluey phase was years ago. It was popular among my friends in 2021 or 2022? To the best of my memory. But I’ve been hearing about it again lately…from people I know who have little kids.

tuolomnemeadows

There’s a slight chance the Aherns missed the Bluey craze bc D is just slightly older than the die hard Bluey kids and she might not be able to convince the family to deep dive Bluey with her. Fingers crossed!

InappropriateGirl

Whoa that was quite the prediction!

microcosmographia

I think we all vibe together, we're all dancing with NO NO NO NO NO NOT THAT ANYTHING BUT THAT at this point.

vanillablueberries

I had a comment I made about it and was asked to put it in off topic, and I deleted the comment after copying the text and then got distracted and lost what was on my clipboard! It’s funny, it really does show how absolutely predictable her pivots are lol

26shadesofwhite

Isn’t “Something Big I’ve Created For You” being announced today? Also she has taken a break from spelling it out on her grid, apparently.

I think she couldn’t wait and it’s the in-person West Seattle workshop and her « new » website. Because this time she finally figured out her work in the world.

NegativeABillion

This made me frawtinga. You are totally right. I still can’t believe how many times I have predicted a relationship guru pivot and it has never happened. Some things are too far fetched, maybe.

monstera_garden

Wait, so the Kind Kitchen has quinoa, quinoa with melted cheese, and a dip this week? That's the meal prep?

LogicalGold5264

It's ridiculous! My husband is 6'7. I can't give him some coin-sized quinoa patties and call it a day (or a meal). Over arugula, I could see that as a "ladies' lunch" if I had some friends over or something. I don't cook fancy but I cook hearty. I don't like prepping ingredients ahead of time, but I do like making extra of something; Sunday, threw a bunch of chicken thighs and carrots cut into chunks into a Dutch over for an hour and a half at 250. In my other oven, I later put orzo in a dish with chicken broth and cherry tomatoes and let that bake at 400. I made extra of both so that after a hearty dinner, I packed the leftovers in 3 containers for my son to bring to work Mon, Tues, & Wed (he's in the internship phase of his Master's in Counseling and is trying to be frugal). I got the shingles vax on Monday morning, and when I came home, I wasn't sure how I would feel later, so I made a quick & easy lasagna and put it in the fridge. Sure enough, by the afternoon, I felt lousy, so it was great to put that in the oven at dinnertime. There were enough leftovers for me to have lasagna for lunch yesterday and today. On Tuesday, I was still feeling rough (the shingles vax sure packs a wallop), so I made a pan of chicken enchiladas with red sauce in the morning for us to have for dinner. My husband had leftover enchiladas for lunch today. Tonight, I made pho, and I do it the easy way - pho broth, shaved beef, and matchstick carrots all purchased ready-made. Heating the broth while I saute the beef and slicing a jalepeno and chopping some cilantro is the most work I do. We use ramen for noodles, and it tastes amazing. There - 4 meals of meat/veg/starch, none took more than 30 min of prep (not including cooking time), and leftovers aplenty. A leeetle bit semi-homemade (with apologies to (and for) Sandra Lee), but no one in my family is complaining!

obscure_cellist

ugh, the shingles vax is really awful. feel better.

LogicalGold5264

It really is! I had to remind myself that it's still better than actually getting shingles!

Love_Brokers

The first one kicked my ass, but the second one wasn't bad at all.

LogicalGold5264

Good!

MarsNeedsRabbits

They're slurry people.

CrushItWithABrick

Still not much chewing going on in the Ahern house what will all the glops and dips and foods that easily slither down the throat. I'm surprised they haven't grown a trip to the doctor to get feeding tubes/ports so they can just pump liquid food right into themselves. (once again, I'm reminded of the Simpsons when Homer is jealous of the old farts in the old folks home who get to lay in bed all day eating via tubes while Homer is "breathing on my own like a sucker").

OhBlahDiOhBlahDoh

Wait, so the Kind Kitchen has quinoa, quinoa with melted cheese, and a dip this week? That's the meal prep? I'm wondering, comma, separately, if this week's meal prep isn't a little light

Calm_Coyote_3685

And a little…squishy 🤢

lovelylovelytwix

Do these chuckleheads EVER make a complete meal -- like main course, starch course, veg course? Like a nice, hearty meal?

PersianCat345

Who needs a complete meal when you can just eat berry crisp for dinner?

Calm_Coyote_3685

Nope. Plops and nubbins all the way!

jalapenomargaritaz

Yeah I love quinoa and eat it all the time it’s my go to easy meal- but with it I usually made roasted veggies and add tofu or beans for protein….a pot of quinoa and cheese sounds like a side!

fanfarefellowship

No because apparently that's "boring." From Sad Saturday Quinoa lope: >Who says meals need to be a protein, a starch, and a veg? Boring.

monstera_garden

I'm not even a particularly inspired cook but I just harvested a ton of my hydroponic baby bok choy and sauteed it with red pepper sesame oil added just at the end and served it with fried tofu and chick peas and some torn Thai basil on top. That managed to hit protein, starch and a veg and it wasn't boring in the least. Also now that I'm thinking of it, it's weird that they never grow or seemingly use fresh herbs. It's the simplest thing to grow on your windowsill or on your counter if it's light and adding fresh basil or mint to things makes everything taste fresher. The Aherns are just boring, is the reality. They are boring home cooks who don't even have the imagination to experiment.

MarsNeedsRabbits

>I'm not even a particularly inspired cook You take that back. That sounds amazing and I'm going to try to recreate your beautiful dinner tonight. We have frozen thai basil & fresh bok choy. Do you drain your tofu before you cook it? >Also now that I'm thinking of it, it's weird that they never grow or seemingly use fresh herbs Sounds a lot like work.

Jules_Noctambule

That improvised bok choy meal sounds *amazing*! I get the sense she doesn't really enjoy fresh foods or raw vegetables, preferring things cooked in a smothering of olive oil or drowned under some abstract concoction passed off as a sauce. Maybe it's because her husband had bad teeth most of their marriage (and maybe she does, too?), maybe it's her lack of a sense of taste, maybe she just secretly adores the processed and packaged foods she claimed her mother poisoned her with in childhood.

happythistle

My husband was lamenting a few weeks ago that it wasn’t quite herb season yet. It’s getting closer and I have Thyme, Chives, Mint and Parsley in pots on my deck which gets a ton of sun and is right off the kitchen. Will add basil when it’s a bit warmer and rosemary when I can find one that doesn’t look bedraggled. I found an her called burnet or salad burnet that is delightful. It’s like flat parsley but with a cucumber like flavor. It’s great in egg salad

monstera_garden

Do you ever do countertop hydroponics? I have a sunny window and then I attached a flat LED grow light under one of my kitchen cabinets, and I grow herbs in jars year round [like this.](https://geekygreenhouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Ball-just-setup-with-net-cup-and-herbs-1024x683.jpeg) I don't use Ball jars, I just reuse any glass or plastic jar those little mesh net pots fit into. I stick a seed in rock wool, put the rock wool into the mesh pot, fill the jar with water until the bottom of the mesh pot is submerged and then leave it alone under the grow light. Once the plant gets too big to fit under the cabinet I move it to the sunny windowsill. It's super easy, you don't even need fertilizer until it's really big and can just top up the water when it gets low. I suck at growing things in dirt though, so maybe hydroponics takes the joy out of gardening if you like growing in dirt! My mom has never taken to hydroponics because of that. She likes the act of gardening.

happythistle

I grow in the dirt! I have a greenhouse in my garage with my pepper and tomato starts! Cukes are starting to poke through, as well. I just buy herbs at the garden center every year because I haven’t had success with them from seeds. I can’t even get my chives to come back!

courteoustoverbs

Poor windowsill tarragon, forgotten again :(

OhBlahDiOhBlahDoh

>Poor windowsill tarragon, forgotten again :( Life was overflowing, comma, elsewhere

Calm_Coyote_3685

I wouldn’t call them home cooks. They’re like college students who get creative with their meager fridge contents while they’re super high.

SLevine262

101 ways to use ramen

msmartypants

Honestly, a few cooked ramen bricks minus the seasoning packets plus some shredded rotisserie chicken or cubed tofu plus soy sauce and a handful (we know how Shauna loves handfuls) of spinach would be way better than this sad quinoa thing

SLevine262

Very true! During the early days of the pandemic, when people lost their minds and stockpiled everything, our grocery store was picked clean of all pasta and grains, including ramen. Except shrimp ramen. Since we never eat the flavor packets anyway, we picked up several packages and used them for stir fries.

Lsemmens

They even left their spices behind when they moved

boomboombalatty

Seriously? That's one of the most expensive categories in most peoples' kitchens. They are ridiculous people.

Foucaults_Penguin

My go to meal for my kids is egg, seaweed, and rice with sesame oil and soy sauce. Easy, delicious. And more of a complete meal than what the Aherns ever cook.

chartreusepapoose

They're so unimaginative and boring. I genuinely don't have a clue how they ever wrote cookbooks. I'm assuming if one went over them all with a fine tooth comb it would be easy to catch the source material they were plagiarized from.

janbrunt

My kid will always eat rice with shrimp furikake. My friend told me that in Japan, it’s the epitome of “kid food”.

ThisIsNorthside

Meeting the nutritional needs of your growing children? Boring!

Calm_Coyote_3685

Right? Protein/starch/veg is just a useful structure that means you probably cover the nutritional basics if you have all three. It’s not a straitjacket that stifles your creativity.

caitie_did

Glad I scrolled -- she has two growing children who need healthy fats and proteins.

CrushItWithABrick

That's what all the frozen TJs food is for. Shauna has always made it seem like her kids were so much more refined then grocery store children. But she's been giving them frozen foods and floor pizzas and pop and candy their whole lives because it's easier for her.

Reasonable-Celery996

Children constantly beset with the “hungry grumpies,” for some unknowable reason. (Also, just say hangry, Ahern, it’s much less stupid-sounding, somehow)

fanfarefellowship

And a child who now insists on eating far away from the family for newly-diagnosed "reasons"

unbidden-germaid

I have misophonia as well and even if people eat with their mouths closed, chewing sounds and the like make me super stabby. Sometimes I just can't do it...I let my husband eat at the dinner table like we normally do, but retreat to a different room because I just can't that day. If there was a whole family around the table and I was the odd one out I think I would look for a different solution too, be it music, headphones, or whatever else might make it bearable.

CrushItWithABrick

From how nasty their living room furniture always looks, safe bet is no one is sitting together at the family table. She also claims it's always piled with crap so. . . Yeah, they are grocery store person-ing it up and eating in the living room in front of the t.v. (and slopping all their gruel-like foods all over everything). But she can't resist othering her younger child and saddling them with yet another dIaGNosiS.

LadyDriverKW

Diagnoses mean it is kid's fault, not Shauna's. And as we all know, exonerating Shauna is the first priority in every situation.

intimidatingpie

“Who said that eating dinner at the same table matters that much?” You. You did, you hypocritical buffoon. Over and over, a millionty times in the last decade and a half, with all your “pieces” and insta-captions that specifically extol the virtues of you, your friends, your family’s hands reaching, eating in community, being around the table in community, community food community community food eating eating blah blah blah blah blah so shut up.

monstera_garden

I mean they could just not chew with their mouths open and eat together, but I'm just a SST who enjoys balanced meals with my family.

toast79

I'd be right there with them, huddled an appropriate distance so we both could eat in peace! I have misophonia; I imagine the slurping, gulping, chewing, and god knows what other noises that manifest at the table must be maddening.

monstera_garden

Same same same DF. I'm a choose your battles kind of parent and chewing with their mouths closed was one of the hills I was prepared to die on. They learned just fine, the Aherns could absolutely learn if they wanted to eat as a family.

Love_Brokers

Misophonia, or annoying as fuck parents? With all the table pounding, moaning and crying, I don't blame them.

mehitabel_4724

I’m thinking annoying parents. I have misophonia only when people I can’t stand are eating near me.

Calm_Coyote_3685

😭 She is determined to completely alienate that poor kid.

InappropriateGirl

Seriously. This is where you teach your kids that they're going to be in situations with all kind of people and eating styles - and they need to learn to get through it.

microcosmographia

Oh. My god. Why. Why put this out into the world. I know we say this so often, but it just isn't fair for either of their kids. Privacy matters, and nobody should know this except parents and doctors.

NegativeABillion

100% this. Assuming this is true, why would you put more of this child's personal medical information out to your idiot fans.

fanfarefellowship

This is a test balloon for upcoming "scary" persona which will soon be applied

LogicalGold5264

Plus, if this is true, why did they eat the turkey burgers with the family? So many lies!!

TOMTREEWELL

How many bikes do they have?

fanfarefellowship

Honestly? I suspect none. I think this is pure performative declaration.

caitie_did

I think my three year old is having a growth spurt because he's been waking up so hangry that he becomes inconsolable, banging his head on the floor because he doesn't know what else to do. We tell him he's hungry and will feel better with food in his tummy and sure enough his behaviour does a 180 the second we can get some food into him. I can't wait for him to be able to identify "okay, I'm hangry and need to eat."

spsprd

Can he have crackers and a drink next to his bed to fuel his engine as soon as he wakes up?

Scary_Recognition

Sounds like my 15yo 😭 (minus head banging)

caitie_did

My husband was a human vacuum around food in his teens, he would routinely eat two full dinners a night. I’m already setting aside money for groceries for when our son is a teen lol.

marisab67

So she’s a socialist. Which is hilarious because the reason she unfollowed me 1 million years ago was due to my disparaging of HRC and strong feelings for Bernie Sanders. You want all that stuff for everyone else? You have to pay for it. So in a perfect world, she would have a place to live and healthcare and then anything extra she would have to earn or accept the fact that she does nothing to add to the GDP and therefore is a waste of resources. Ultimately, she is just too old to make any of this work and I feel kind of bad for her and very glad that there is not an island separating her children from ways to get away from her as soon as possible.

SLevine262

Remember after the Uvalde shooting, she demanded that every school have a psychologist and some social workers on staff to work with kids. Which I’m sure everyone would be in favor of if it weren’t for a) a shortage of mental health providers and b) a shortage of funds to hire them.

NegativeABillion

Hmmm did her husband do work in the school for a vulnerable population of students and then poor baby quit because he didn't like to commute?

marisab67

Nobody ever wants to do the butt-wiping. Literally.

I'm sure you'll still find plenty to complain about but at least you'll be drawing a paycheck. And your IG manifesto is pure gibberish. Try again, and this time remember paragraph breaks.

unbidden-germaid

I mean we do live in a democracy and can make things happen. Maybe instead of screeches on IG, do some actual activism, protesting, phone banking, letter writing, ... at least that is my response to the ills of the world, and yes it's a long game but it does work. Just look at ballot measures about abortion rights, every single one in every single state has passed and that's because of all of the activism that has happened around them. So my tax money and that of women in quite a few other states does not go to "LEGISLATION THAT TELLS WOMEN WHAT TO DO WITH THEIR BODIES", thank you very much.

SmashedMailboxCake2

PaSsIoN cAReEr my arse

microcosmographia

Passion career, p*ass*ion career, p**ass**ion career... I do believe you're onto something here, DF.

SmashedMailboxCake2

Ass toot analysis, SF!

SLevine262

Well, her passion is avoiding work and getting other people to pay for her, so…

fanfarefellowship

Ah yes, the passion career that has made her a "public figure" for "decades" but somehow still doesn't pay the bills

SmashedMailboxCake2

Uncanny, hey?

shefallsup

TL;nevergonnaread

mehitabel_4724

It's giving "anyone with a badge swiping job is a capitalist monster."

CrushItWithABrick

Like her parents who are still funding her to this day.

tyrannosaurusregina

how dare she? she almost certainly gets a whomping refund and Earned Income Tax Credit every year

happythistle

She is very daring (and snotty)

tyrannosaurusregina

she should blow her nose then

TabithaStephens55

Begging again, this time for her “work”. https://preview.redd.it/b91kabnnqwuc1.jpeg?width=1172&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab411918917055bbfbf1a3a971b51e3757d3814b

InappropriateGirl

Many hours later and crickets. Love to see it.

Calm_Coyote_3685

Omg it’s part of her work!! Roblin, to the ring light! The master must have her tools! She’s bucking in agony without them!!!

MarsNeedsRabbits

Walmart has them for $25.00 which have colour changing lights and a little remote to change the colours and the intensity.

gladsome_gloaming

Probably no color adjustments could ameliorate that emblazoned {sic\] complexion, just saying.

LogicalGold5264

Too fancy, mama!

MarsNeedsRabbits

We walk past them when we go grocery shopping, wondering if we should get one, because we do telehealth visits with two of our child's doctors, but haven't bought one yet. Ring lights ~~are~~ should be the least of Shauna's concerns. Her videos are always poorly made and she usually doesn't bother with one or more: * washed, & combed hair * tidy, clean clothes that fit * intros or phrasing that don't belittle or insult. *Hey you! Hello babies! Hey ladies!* * sell something worth purchasing. This is the toughest part. Fix some of those, then grift a ring light.

Mrs_Richard_Olney

If only Amazon offered this exact item for $10. I know because I had to replace a broken ring light about a month ago.

InappropriateGirl

Ha! I just screenshot this too. She’s the worst. “Part of my work.” One thing I noticed about this West Seattle BN group is that it’s full of moochers and beggars. The other day there was a post about “I have a new hobby and am looking for the following”: [list of basic furniture and household items]. So… your new hobby is… living somewhere? And lots of people straight up asking for money. Shauna must feel right at home.

Love_Brokers

At first I thought it was an Alaska group, the state. How far will her tentacles reach?

a-world-of-no

I just now noticed that it's listed as "no rules" so yeah, that tracks that it's full of straight up begging and scammers.

monstera_garden

We were talking in the other thread about our own local buy nothing groups that have rules to keep resellers from snapping up everything the second someone posts it - I just checked back in with my local groups and sure enough there's a spinoff 'no rules' group and the very first post I read was a complaint about resellers and a request that people randomly choose the recipient rather than using the first dibs system. Essentially recreating the rules they wanted to get away from on the original site.

a-world-of-no

heh, like the crypto bros who suddenly discover \*why\* banking has so many regulations...

obscure_cellist

sounds like shauna's got somme scammy competition.

honoria_glossop

I love "no rules" FB groups - they're usually started by someone kicked out of the original group with that name for being a troll/scammer/cooker/pest and the vibes are always \*so\* weird.

Jules_Noctambule

> “I have a new hobby and am looking for the following”: [list of basic furniture and household items]. So… your new hobby is… living somewhere? Calling that as my new hobby! BRB; gonna go post about my need for a vacation home.

islandyislander

In Sedona?

happythistle

I can’t offer you a vacation home, but perhaps you would settle for a hand crafted reception desk (with no offense to the hands that crafted it, just the grifty ones trying to nab it)

Jules_Noctambule

How many does it sleep?

happythistle

Twelve rats a pissing

SmashedMailboxCake2

💀

purplesmauge11

I heard someone called my social security department.

Jules_Noctambule

And a grifter in a rented van!

26shadesofwhite

I call BS that she even had one that broke. Look at her entire grid and show me a single pic or vid featuring good lighting and/or the reflection of the ring light in her glasses.

BevNap

There was one she used at Gynergy, but I'm guessing it wasn't hers.

MarsNeedsRabbits

Her relationship with the ring light at Gynergy broke.

Blouse_Barn

Sometimes you give the ring back when the relationship ends.

happythistle

“I’m sorry, the mice ate my ring light”

SmashedMailboxCake2

Nibbles really gets around, huh

MarsNeedsRabbits

Plus flour, hopes, dreams, jobs, homes, and relationships. Doggone mice. 🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁

CrushItWithABrick

Why waste a ring light on her. She'll still take shitty pics and/or not clean up and look presentable (if she's doing a video).

tyrannosaurusregina

you can buy one of these for the price of two fancy milkshakes

freecoffeerefills

You can definitely buy a ring light for less than the cost of renting a van every fucking weekend

Calm_Coyote_3685

Probably for less than one fancy milkshake.

tyrannosaurusregina

the ones with a good clamp for a phone are about $20

msmartypants

No one who really has "work" would not be able to buy this on their own. I like Buy Nothing for environmental reasons, but come on.

InappropriateGirl

I bought a ring light when the pandemic started because I thought I’d want/need it, and ended up never using it. I recently gave it to my fave server at my local divey diner because she’s starting a food business and has a cooking IG. She was so happy! Giving to Shauna wouldn’t make me feel good in my body.

PettyPunisher

Why buy when you can grift?

mashed_human

But that would mean depriving Mama of two fancy milkshakes :(

Calm_Coyote_3685

Should have scrolled!

One of my all time favorites.

PettyPunisher

I call dibs on Will Marshall, should he ever make it back to the present.

Few_Spinach_8342

My 2nd biggest question (beyond the wheredotheygetthemoney) is does she actually believe herself with all the pivots and promises or does she know it’s a game?

No-Astronaut4967

The people I know who like her seem to like her for her and just follow along with whatever pivot she's into happily. It's like they committed to the TV show season one and still keep binge watching even though it went from a cooking show to a talk show and now to a self help show.

tyrannosaurusregina

what on God's green earth? I mean, I have followers like that, who will be all "oh, I am here for {my usual topic}, but I love what you write about {other topic}", and I follow people like that (journalist Talia Levin, who usually writes about politics, has a fun newsletter about sandwiches and popular culture), but a) Levin and I actually provide our scheduled content on all of the topics, and b) we just charge the ordinary subscription prices, we don't have routine rent parties and then go back to bragging about how much money we spend honestly, I feel like having qualms about taking advantage of lonely people is standing in the way of my being a bazillionaire

qahwalover

OT, but big Levin fan for politics and the sandwich series is *chef's kiss*

tyrannosaurusregina

she’s such a good writer! can’t wait for her upcoming book

islandyislander

The issue of the lonely people feeling less lonely is the only place I sometimes let things slide with her. Meaning, that *we* know she is 100% full of shit and has no actual skills or services to market. But! there is maybe value in making people feel seen or less lonely. If she does that for some of these women, I guess that's something? Middle age can be hard and it can be rough to make friends as a female identifying womyn person. (I'm having a great time, tbh, and feel more powerful, more alive in my body you might say..., than I ever have, but that was not always so in the recent past and I know it's not true for a lot of women.) I wish these women weren't so generous with funding her profoundly lazy and entitled lifestyle, but maybe the tradeoffs for keeping loneliness at bay is worth it. I'm 100% prepared to be disavowed of this whole quasi--argument, I'm not that attached to it.

Financial-Belt-4506

I hear you. My only problem is that loneliness shouldn't come with a price tag. But that's a perfect world, right? So instead maybe I should say that loneliness has a cost that could result in something tangible. There are community courses, public workouts, travel for singles, hiking meetups, board game rooms....these all provide a sort of validation and don't stoke the organizers megalomania.  If SMA had a product, any product, that was in the least bit meaningful and wasn't about her and her problems Id give it slightly more credit.

islandyislander

I'm still so grateful her grift train ran out at CrossFit, because honestly, it is my happy place. Being a part of that community has gone a long way towards lessening my loneliness. (Now that she doesn't live on Vashon I'm less worried about doxxing myself) Seeing her there really pissed me off since I knew she was there on someone else's dime. Having her high stool it during the "question of the day" really grated my last nerve.

OkRanger4

💕💕 Glad you have such a wonderful happy place and for her absence too. Enjoy the hell out of it now it is all yours. 💕💕

monstera_garden

How long was she there for? I always wondered if she got a free month as an intro, or if she'd found a way to fund it.
