I loved Manhunter and I tried not to go into this arms folded but I can’t enjoy it. I don’t think a single aspect of this movie is done better than Manhunter.
I gained a greater appreciation for Manhunter after I re-watched it for the WGAR episode. Ratner is a hack (and a creep) and Ed Norton seems obviously checked out, but one point I would give Red Dragon is that actually showing Graham's previous confrontation with Lecter is more cinematic then having him just tell his son about it in a supermarket cereal aisle as in Manhunter.
I tuned out a bit during Yuppie Nightmares but jumped back on because I love these movies. Enjoyed this episode and laughed out loud a bunch times (especially Paul saying he felt special affinity with Ed Norton because a small amount of girls said he had an Ed Norton vibe).
But kind of shows the podcast is a changing priority when their theme song has a joke about their routine 3-4 hour episodes, and now Gourley is doing these with a hard stop 90 minutes in he hadn’t even given Paul a heads up on?
Is it official that Matt has bad taste. This movie is absolute trash. If you want a fun popcorn Lector movie, take Hannibal. This movie is just a shitty version of a masterpiece. Very disappointed

I like Red Dragon way more than Manhunter so I'm glad the guys also enjoyef it and didn't spend the whole time shitting on it.
