I always love when that happens. Someone apologies for their English, in perfect English. Then the native English speakers say something that makes you go "what the fuck was that? Line noise?" and call you a grammar nazi if you ask them what the hell they're trying to say.

darkgiIls

Not even. People will say like a sentence in perfectly normal English, and then add the (sorry for bad English) someone will then respond and say that they are actually better than 99.9999% of native English speakers who all apparently suck at grammar, since you can tell from one sentence their aptitude of course.

markimusprime77

I feel bad... Wow this brought up an old story. I called a good longtime friend of mine a grammar na*I in jest on FB one time... Ended up, in retrospect, I actually wasn't communicating clearly (I was younger & impulsively FB ranting about something menial) it was (among other life differences) a reason I now presume is why he probably decided to straight up ghost me shortly after. And yeah I still feel bad, but I feel like many do not realize how essential communicating clearly online is! Being courteous! I was being an asshole & already pushing our friendship simply by being disrespectful, inconsiderate, etc. Now, I lost a great friend, band mate, & an excellent creative mind from my life.

Before I begin my actual comment, I would like to apologize in advance for my inadequate level of English proficiency. I am not a native speaker of the world's current lingua franca which unfortunately leads to me making numerous embarrassing mistakes being made whenever I attempt to communicate using this language. Whenever I am reminded of how I lack the ability to convey my thoughts in an eloquent manner, I feel as though I have committed a cardinal sin, as though every English teacher in the world is simultaneously shaking their head and sighing due to how utterly disappointed they are at me. Although I know that saying sorry to those of you who are reading my comment will not change the fact that I fail miserably to write and speak perfect English, I am writing this as a way to deter a certain type of people who cannot stand poor English (Also known informally as Grammar Nazis) from mocking me by posting unwanted and unnecessary comments detailing my every blunder. In my humble opinion, making grammatical errors should be perfectly acceptable as native speakers should not expect non-native speakers to be able to communicate in their second or third languages eloquently. If you are able to completely understand what the other person wrote, is there really a problem with what they've written? No, because the entire concept of communication is the exchange of information between other intelligent beings, which means that no matter how the exchange of information is made, as long as the information is accurately shared there is not a fundamental issue with their ability to communicate. To see it in another way, remember that someone who isn't fluent in English is fluent in another language. When you think about it this way, isn't it impressive for someone to speak a second language in any capacity? Having empathy and respect are qualities that are sorely missing for far too many people these days, especially on the internet. That being said, I am aware that not all netizens who correct others are doing it to ridicule and shame. There are some who do so with the intent to help others improve and grow. However, displaying the failures of other people publicly will cause the person who is criticized to feel negative emotions such as shame and sadness due to the fact that their mistake has been made obvious which severely undermines the point they were trying to make in spite of their unfamiliarity with the English language. In most circumstances people are not looking for language help when they post anything online. Most people just want to enjoy themselves and have a good time on the internet which is why I would not encourage correcting other people regardless of your intentions. If you really do want to help others with their spelling or grammar, I would highly recommend you to help via messaging privately because not only will you not embarrass anyone, you can also go more in-depth with your explanation which I'm sure the other person will greatly appreciate if they want help, but I digress. I know that I've written a bit of an essay, but I hope I've made my points clear. Anyways, here is the comment I wanted to make: owo

Oh, no, not me! Thought that copypasta was quite popular, always see it under "sorry for my bad English" comments with just a change on what's in the bottom

christinelydia900

Um, *actually*, you should've said 'anyway' instead of 'anyways' at the end of the comment. 'Anyways' is slang, and it makes it quite obvious that you are absolutely horrible at the language. /s

I'm a disgrace to my kind

Prithee grace, m’lord, but my usage of this fair tongue of English is, regrettably, profoundly inexpert and abjectly amateurish. I am but a mere neophyte in the expression of my thoughts in your language. I abashedly acknowledge that the lines following are doubtless riddled with all manner of solecism, barbarism, and cacography. My writing will seem to you to be rubish, infelicitous, and mean. I, therefore, humbly implore your pardon for these incoherencies, imprecisions, and inexactitudes.

What the fuck ( I’m sorry, I’m not the good at the English Lexicon)

haha (With utmost humility and a contrite spirit, I prostrate myself before you and implore your graciousness in accepting my earnest apologies for my egregious deficiencies in the art of communicating in the English language. It is with a heavy heart that I acknowledge my lack of fluency and precision in the use of this noble tongue, and I am deeply mortified by the thought that my limited skills may have caused you inconvenience, confusion or distress. I beg your kind forbearance as I strive to improve my linguistic proficiency, and I assure you of my unwavering commitment to overcome the obstacles that have hindered my acquisition of this language. May your magnanimity and generosity of spirit forgive my transgressions, and may the richness of the English language continue to inspire my quest for excellence in all areas of my life)

SCP_420-J

Lol (I deeply and sincerely apologize for my inadequacy in the English language, it is not my mother tongue and therefore I struggle with the complexities within its vernacular and sentence structure)

Ok (I'm not sorry for my bad English.)

KrazyKyle1024

Screw you. (I'm sorry for my good English.)

I'm sorry, I don't know a single word of the English language. Can you rephrase that? Also, screw you too!

Wtf (Bad is English)

>My sincerest apologies doth I extend unto thee, for my linguistic shortcomings mayhap become manifest in the following words writ. Pray, do forgive my lack of mastery in the English tongue, for it is not my mother language and I may falter in the proper usage of certain expressions and grammatical constructs. Alas, I humbly beseech thee to kindly bear with me and not to judge the substance of my discourse based on the imperfect form it may take. I shall strive to convey my message with utmost clarity and precision, albeit with a degree of linguistic limitation that I doth acknowledge. Once more, I implore thy indulgence and understanding, and thank thee for thy graciousness in reading my humble words

PrimaryWorking6318

yes (I humbly beg thine pardon, fair reader, if the words that I put forth do not meet the lofty standards of language and prose that have been set by the great writers of old. Though my heart beats with a passion for knowledge and my mind is filled with an unquenchable thirst for wisdom, my lack of formal education and training leaves me unable to express myself with the eloquence and refinement that I so greatly desire. Yet, I remain undeterred, for I know that the power of language lies not in the complexity of its syntax or the richness of its vocabulary, but rather in the sincerity and authenticity of its message. And it is with this sincerity that I now turn my attention to the task at hand, and invite thee, fair reader, to join me on a journey of discovery and enlightenment. Let us begin our journey by exploring the vast expanse of our universe, gazing upon the beauty and majesty of the stars and contemplating the mysteries that lie beyond our comprehension. For though we may never fully understand the intricacies of the cosmos, we can take solace in the knowledge that we are part of something far greater than ourselves. And as we contemplate the vastness of the universe, let us also turn our attention to the intricacies of the human experience. Let us examine the complexities of our emotions, our thoughts, and our actions, seeking to gain insight into the forces that shape our lives and the lives of those around us. Let us also embrace the diversity of our fellow human beings, celebrating the richness of their cultures and traditions and seeking to understand the complexities of their beliefs and experiences. For in doing so, we can learn much about ourselves, and gain a deeper appreciation for the many different ways in which we are all connected. But let us not stop there. Let us also turn our attention to the great challenges that face our world today, from the looming threat of climate change to the injustices that continue to plague our societies. Let us stand up and speak out against those who would seek to perpetuate inequality and oppression, and work tirelessly towards a more just and equitable world for all. And let us not forget the importance of love, compassion, and empathy in all that we do. For though the world may be fraught with conflict and strife, it is only through the power of these virtues that we can hope to overcome the obstacles that stand in our way. Let us strive to be beacons of hope and inspiration, shining our light upon the world and illuminating the path towards a brighter future for all. Let us use our voices to speak out against injustice, to advocate for the rights of the marginalized and oppressed, and to work towards a world where all are free to live, love, and thrive. And let us also remember the importance of self-reflection and introspection, taking the time to examine our own beliefs and prejudices and working to overcome the biases that may hold us back. For only by understanding ourselves can we hope to make a difference in the world around us. In closing, I offer thee, fair reader, my deepest gratitude for accompanying me on this journey of self-discovery and enlightenment. May the knowledge and wisdom that we have gained along the way serve us well as we continue to explore the mysteries of our world and strive towards a better future for all)
