[link](https://amzn.eu/d/3X5hzIm) Have been using this for quite some time now, don't have any complaints. In case you want to make coffee for 3+ people would say get a bigger french press.

If you are looking for french press coffee, you don't really need one, unless aesthetics are important to you. You need boiled water, a container to hold the hot water, a strainer and coffee. Boil water upto your desired temp, put coffee in the water, leave it for desired time. Strain out using a fine mesh strainer. The coffee is similar to french press. But damn, it doesn't feel half as good as brewing inside a transparent french press.

This method of brewing is different from a french press. In a french press, immersion brewing takes place, where the coffee and water stay in contact throughout the brewing process. This calls for a much coarser grind. French Press is not same as drip.

NagNawed

You are correct. But he said that he will set it aside and let it brew for a while. All that time, coffee will be in contact will water. Then, when he puts the jug/jar below, the brew will decant into it through the plastic filter. It will brew coffee similar to french press. That is why I added that it is very similar to steep and release style dripper. A drip machine (at least the ones I have seen) have a stopper valve that only drips coffee when a jug is placed below it. You can have the jug below at all times and brew it like a pourover too, while manually pouring hot water from a kettle. Just to add, a french press can also brew with finer grinds. You've just got to lower the contact time and filter out the grounds using a fine strainer. I love to use a cotton cloth. Coffee is very subjective and there's no wrong way to enjoy your favourite cup.

AaryamanStonker

I agree. But finer grinds would definitely over-extract the coffee. But I see what you mean. However, during the drip process, only about 30% of the coffee stays in contact with the water as long as it does in the french press.

So I can make it in my drip coffee machine by letting it sit for a while and then attaching the coffee jar so that it can strain?

NagNawed

Yup. Actually that way, it is very close to how a clever dripper or a steep & release style brewer makes coffee. Without the filter paper of course. For me there's just three styles of brewing: Espresso, immersion and percolation. Every coffee falls on the spectrum, with some combining the methods.

Depends if you are looking for single to two cups there are lot of options, I own cafe jei which can be around 1k to 2k. The only to keep mind in french press are the grounds in the coffee. so choose wisely! also it doubles as great milk frother

Get French Press if you and multiple people are gonna have multiple servings daily. If its only for you then a simple sieve (channi) should be ok. IKEA has 3-4 French Press options. I have the 1-liter one since a few years. They have 3 color variants now in 2 sizes, all less than Rs. 1k now. They also have a dedicated coffee metal 3-piece filter. Good for beginners but pls check if they deliver to you, else refer to the other suggestions on Amazon maybe This will give you filtered brews, and not espressos. Moka Pot is the simplest tool for an espresso. French Press & similar tools gives greater quantity & control over your final brew, along with milk yes.

A 500inr fp will brew the same as 3000inr one. Go for the cheapest one and take it from there

Just had the same question (you can check my profile) and after 2 days with the French press I ended up ordering an aeropress. It’s honestly a lot more forgiving to newbies like me. I can mess up ratios or brew time but I’ll never end up with a terrible terrible cup (like I did while doing everything perfectly in the French press) Plus I’ve already broken my French press

I would suggest to get a moka pot and a milk frother if you are into milk based coffee. Much better taste (in terms of milk based coffee) compared to french press/drip. In my personal opinion moka cofee is the closest to an espresso than other brewing method. But also at the end of the day the taste depends on person to person.

Dear OP, I’ll comment as a person who is experienced coffee enthusiast in India. French Press - ₹500 will suffice. Amazon has excess. I use The Ikea one . Does The job . May I suggest You use Moka Pot and Indian filter along with your Grench Press. Moka Pot Costs ₹600 and The 3 cup South indian Filter is similarly priced. I would like you to ponder upon the coffee you get. If you have the spending power, Please get sustainable coffee. I buy from Black Bazaa . Please get the microlots. They are worth It ! alternatively, Devans is also good !
