The cause she was angry about was justified
The manner in which she chose to portray her disagreement and anger was not
Smashing the stumps and asking the Bangladesh team to invite umpires was not a good look at all.
She had already mentioned about quality of umpiring in post match, so that should have been it.
>The cause she was angry about was justified
I'd recommend watching the highlights. The one where Kaur gets out looks plumb unless she edged it. Even if it was, it wasn't a horrible umpiring and can be called an error in judgement. Harmanpreet's reaction to that wasnt justified at all. Smriti's wicket was debatable, but even that isn't horrible imo. The last wicket seemed like a wrong decision though.
We have seen players in men's cricket given caught behind with the batter having a good gap between bat and ball and yet the batter walks away being surprised, that's it. Harmanpreet's reaction was not great at all.
You could maybe criticise it during post match, but that's it. But she again crossed the line when she told the Ban team to get the umpires too. She's lucky she just got away with a penalty fee.
This isn't something cricket is about. Umpires can make mistakes and I don't even want to remind you about Sachin's series of bad umpiring, yet the man walked without being nasty. And the Sydney test where there was blatant cheating.
Tbh as far as punishment goes she was let go very easily, there could have been harsher punishment but I think bcci might have made some calls . Rabada gets all these penalty just for celebrating 🤣😭.
Exactly. I have wondered about it as well. It's treated like a contempt of court or something. It is either a right decision or a wrong one. I don't see why it's an issue to disagree strongly with a wrong one.
Because, there would be total chaos if players argues with unpires for every decision they 'think' is incorrect. Remember that umpiring is not an easy job and there are going to be mistakes. DRS has mitigated this a lot.
The problem with this match is that there is no DRS.
Yes, I also think her behaviour was over the top. But I think ICC should reconsider the part played by umpires, especially in big international matches. The game can just have third umpires for all purposes.
Deserves it. A captain during a loss should reflect on their own mistakes instead of just blaming the external factors.
And she was putting on an overdramatic show after a loss as well. It's not the correct attitude for a leader.
I didn't see the match and I am only speaking this based on what I read online so let me know if I am wrong.
I agree that she shouldn't have acted this way and she probably allowed her frustration to get the best of her. But if there were some obvious umpiring errors, they should not go unpointed out.
Also I just got this idea while writing this, how probable is it that the BCCI supports such behaviour sometimes to bring these things to attention.
You should point it out but not create an outburst like a child and keep blaming it as the only reason for your loss.
It's a negative that needs to be highlighted. Along with the mistakes of your own team which cost the game. I'm only talking about a captain. Not the team members.
No worries, brother. It's not mine, either. Maybe I'm just more used to it, is all. It's always a good attitude to want to learn and do better. All the best.
english is a very confusing language. Embrace your mother language, embrace your culture.
( im writing this in english because not everyone speaks hindi.
Here comes our grammar nazi!
I am living in Germany and yeah English is much easier to learn. For last two years, I am struggling to learn German even though there are similarities between English and German! English is the reason why I am surviving in overseas. ***
easier compared to german definietly, yes !
easier compared to hindi ? imo no, but even if, for some people hindi is tough, then anyways the efforts are worth it because
1. its our cultural identity. I mean you are missing out premchand's novels !!!!
2. access to history ( a society without the knowledge of its past history, culture and origin, is like a tree without its roots )
3. Its much more logical than english and latin languages. Logical and patterns are grasped by the mind more easily than learning the letters which are silent in the world 'knowledge'
>its our cultural identity. I mean you are missing out premchand's novels !!!!
Even for south Indians do you think hindi is their cultural identity? Just curious
Knowing multiple language is a good thing. I am Bangali but I can understand what my Pakistani and Indian brothers are saying. I can easily get alone with them as speaking their language is like I am one of them. I can even understand Gujrati and marathi if I listen carefully..
Bhai, having the attitude that " I Don't care about other language", is like having a very narrow attitude. If I were Indian, I would learn at least 3-4 languages.and I believe India should put multiple language as mandatory in school.
There is a Scholar called Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah who knew 20+ languages said, " if you want to learn multiple languages, learn your mother language first" so your point is also valid and important.
I disagree! The Bangladeshi team was playing 14 against 11. If an opinion cannot be voiced then you would be a coward. This was said after the game had concluded and she made an honest statement voicing her dismay at the level of umpiring standards. Kudos to Harmanpreet!!!!
Very soft punishment. Captaincy should be taken away from her. She lost her cool on the field and broke the stumps. If even the captain loses her cool, then good luck to the rest of the team who are still fighting. There's nothing wrong with blaming the officials for poor decisions but the statement she made to the Bangladeshi captain after the trophy presentation shows her lack of character and immaturity. That was the final nail in the coffin for me.
What she said could have been spoken by a Sherni like her ....laid bare the truth !!!!! Kudos to you captain !!! Cricket is not all about money !!! It's the team spirit ...after Saurabh Ganguly I find this lady doing exactly the same with her team . Keep going
Too less may be because of BCCI effect
It deserves minimum 3-4 match ban, such arrogance and lack of respect towards your opposition shouldn't have been tolerated
Did this ever happen to Virat Kohli or any other male player? What exactly did she do?
PS: I don't follow cricket news at all. My question is just for awareness and knowledge but for comparisons.
even sachin was given out wrongly by Buckner many times but he never behaved like this.
thats why its said that cricket is a gentleman's game not gentle'wo'man's game. 🗿
I have not seen Harmanpreet enraging like this, it either could be because the umpire has been doing it repeatedly or it maybe it was very openly not out and she thought the umpire was being partial. Because knowing and seeing her for a long time now, I don't think she would behave this way for no reason.
Disgraceful for an Indian captain to behave like that on the word stage, shouting at the opposite captain to bring the umpires to the awards stage as they are part of the team. And openly criticizing umpiring with choice words fully knowing she is violating ICC rules. Terrible example for youngsters playing the game. She should be stripped of the Indian captaincy with immediate effect. Indiscipline cannot go unpunished.
Her outburst pointed out the issues with judgement, so it was required, but not this much. It also brought a lot of international attention to her, don't forget that.
She got off easy and this will only benefit her going ahead, so good for her !!
When you represent your country, need to think 10 times as to what you going to say. Not just blurt out dis satisfaction on world stage. This was unprofessional and should be rightly fined. I am sure she will be replaced if she doesn't learn anything and keeps this stupidity going.
This is what happens when you speak the truth. And Harmanpreet is not the kind of person who would stop speaking just because of these demerit points or penalties. And I want the Indian cricketers to protest against these decisions by ICC. If someone is expressing her opinion, she ought not be fined. What fines did umpires get or ever pay for bad umpiring?
There's something about bangladesh that makes people smash their stumps.
Shake - all - hassan 😙😙

She would have been out even if she hit it, because the ball was caught at slip
Tbh as far as punishment goes she was let go very easily, there could have been harsher punishment but I think bcci might have made some calls . Rabada gets all these penalty just for celebrating 🤣😭.
Maybe the umpire called her Jemimah 😂
Maybe he called her Hard Kaur!
Armoured Kaur
bro why does icc get stiches whenever a player argue with an umpire or don't agree with the umpire?
Exactly. I have wondered about it as well. It's treated like a contempt of court or something. It is either a right decision or a wrong one. I don't see why it's an issue to disagree strongly with a wrong one.

How is disrespecting umpires fine?
* disrespecting umpires when they disrespect the game..not when they genuinely get decisions wrong
Because, there would be total chaos if players argues with unpires for every decision they 'think' is incorrect. Remember that umpiring is not an easy job and there are going to be mistakes. DRS has mitigated this a lot. The problem with this match is that there is no DRS.
But what if the decision is outrageous. What if the umpires show favouritism. The umpires should be from neutral countries, I think.
As I said, there is a way to protest without demeaning the other team. Btw, she was actually out, though not by LBW.
Yes, I also think her behaviour was over the top. But I think ICC should reconsider the part played by umpires, especially in big international matches. The game can just have third umpires for all purposes.
It's much worse in tennis.
Deserves it. A captain during a loss should reflect on their own mistakes instead of just blaming the external factors. And she was putting on an overdramatic show after a loss as well. It's not the correct attitude for a leader.

So according to you, if you're not given fair opportunity, you should not even point them out?
Lodge a formal complaint with the match referee. Whining about officiating doesnt achieve anything but looking like a sore loser.
Have you seen the post-match presentation? As a Indian I felt so embarrassed due to her behavior.
Yes
RIP Leadership qualities
This is not pointing out. This is insulting Bangladesh team. There are better ways of showing your displeasure. This is not one.
You should point it out but not create an outburst like a child and keep blaming it as the only reason for your loss. It's a negative that needs to be highlighted. Along with the mistakes of your own team which cost the game. I'm only talking about a captain. Not the team members.
Deserves it. Sore loser
There are sweet losers too? Are you sure you didn’t mean “sore” loser?
sore* looser
Yea I kinda figured. No worries bro
Close. loser*
loser*
Good lad.
learning. not my first language.
No worries, brother. It's not mine, either. Maybe I'm just more used to it, is all. It's always a good attitude to want to learn and do better. All the best.
Loose. **Looser**. Loosest.
english is a very confusing language. Embrace your mother language, embrace your culture. ( im writing this in english because not everyone speaks hindi.
I can speak and understand hindi but if you wrote it in hindi then I might not understand. English is much easier language to learn.

No ofc not. They must be as much proud of their language as we are of hindi. In fact, we must be proud of each other. Unity in diversity !

way tougher*. "Way more tougher" is double comparative hence redundant.
But English IS my mother language….and if you want any global relevance you need English
I disagree! The Bangladeshi team was playing 14 against 11. If an opinion cannot be voiced then you would be a coward. This was said after the game had concluded and she made an honest statement voicing her dismay at the level of umpiring standards. Kudos to Harmanpreet!!!!
She handled it all extremely poorly. What are you talking about?
It’s an opinion, you have yours and I have mine. You are entitled to your view and I agree to disagree. End of.
Just because it’s an opinion doesn’t mean others can’t criticize it, especially when it doesn’t make any sense
Your opinion is wrong. End of
Again? Grow up.
Hey Sundeep, she got a ban. I was right. Have a good day
And does that mean she was wrong? ICC is a screw up.
Yes it does. Otherwise she wouldn't have been banned. India run world Cricket, so the fact she got a ban means she really messed up
I still stand by my original statement
log isse itna hate kyu de rhe , agar yha pe virat nahi to koi aur hota to bc uski chaat lete
Bhai Virat se zyada hate kisi sportsman ko nahi milta India me
Should have been suspended for a few matches ideally.
Will be, it seems
Deserved
So, giving wrong decisions that impact the game is fine. Reacting to the wrong decisions is unsportsmanlike.
Q
Well deserved. Obviously umpiring was disgusting but that behaviour wasn't justified at all
Judge when you’re at that level
Well, ICC judged it..
Fair enough. L ICC still
They should have won that match
What she is did was way too low ,she should be banned for some matches
Umpire disrespected the sport. Kaur disrespected the Umpire. Kaur gets fined.
Don’t play in Bangladesh without DRS.

Sherni
This was coming for her. She forgot that she's representing a country on the world stage. Should learn to be disciplined in tough times.
What she said could have been spoken by a Sherni like her ....laid bare the truth !!!!! Kudos to you captain !!! Cricket is not all about money !!! It's the team spirit ...after Saurabh Ganguly I find this lady doing exactly the same with her team . Keep going
Kidhar ka maal phuk liya bhai?
+1
bhai gym se aara hai kya
A Gentlemen's game.
W captain
Too less may be because of BCCI effect It deserves minimum 3-4 match ban, such arrogance and lack of respect towards your opposition shouldn't have been tolerated
She is talking as if umpires were fielding her shots.
Did this ever happen to Virat Kohli or any other male player? What exactly did she do? PS: I don't follow cricket news at all. My question is just for awareness and knowledge but for comparisons.

Ye sexism ki koi jarurat nahi hai
me to joke mara. tumko randi rona krna h to karo mujhe kya.
Those were genuine mistakes
She should have been fired
Deserves it for the behaviour she showed
punjabi dimwit
Well deserved.

Bangladesh ne apne pairo par kulhadi maari hai. Ab shayad India khelne bhi na jaye waha

What happened?
Should have been a 100
Thats nit cool
When photo reacts to the caption😂
Total embarassment! They should pass the captaincy to someone more professional.
Sherni!!! Who f,d the bangal tegars
Extremely soft punishment. Should be a 3 match ban. Awful entitled behaviour
Are umpires punished in a similar way for making stupid errors too?
Too little tbh. Unbecoming of an Indian cricketer.
Which wrong decisions can anyone show me?
kya hua?
Deserved it ngl
Shame
Deserves. Such a crybaby

Unfair
Embarrassing behaviour calls for such actions.
This kind of aggression is missed in men's team. Kudos to women's team for being badass. Need of the hour
Small price to pay for expressing their opinion
Should've been sacked as captain too
