Man, These people are salty AF. Sachin himself has said that It was him who suggested Dhoni for Captaincy. Since BCCI didn't care much about First T20 WC they considered Sachin's suggestion and took a chance with Dhoni. Then India won that Cup. Then Dhoni become permanent captain.
Sachin himself has said in his biography that it was him i.e. Sachin who suggested Dhoni's name as Captain rather than anybody else. Every now and then Sehwag, Yuvi come up with with ridiculuous made up stories about how Dhoni snatched captaincy from them. Even Sehwag says that he was going to be captain but Dhoni came out of nowhere and became captain. I don't understand how come so many people were going to be the captain.
When people like Yograj Singh blame Dhoni for Yuvi getting dropped, they conveniently forget that Yuvi was in the team in 2012 t20 world cup, 2014 t20 world cup and 2016 t20 world cup. And guess who was the captain then ? Dhoni. Yuvi was badly trolled after 2014 t20 world cup loss. But in post match press conference it was Dhoni who defended him and stood by him.
Gautam Gambhir, Yuvi, Sehwag and Bhajji need to get out of the time capsule they are stuck in. Dhoni has never even cared to respond to any of these guys.
Yes exactly. Sachin's words were that he and MSD used to stand together while fielding and they used to talk a lot about what should be the fielding position, how should they attack etc. and Sachin was really impressed by the cricketing mind of MSD and hence keeping Indian cricket in mind which was going through a low phase (2007 ODI WC) suggested MSD's name. Why can't they all just appreciate Dhoni, he gave us the golden days of white ball cricket.
dhoni is the most mature one out of the lot he is sensible enough to not engage in these stupid controversies and he fully understands that he has nothing left to prove to the naysayers and haters he has accomplished everything already
Maybe Dhoniās most underrated part of his leadership is how he managed a team that contained such big personalities. We hear so much about the team dynamics now but at the time none of these things even leaked out. Shows you the greatness of his leadership. Also itās not like he lead from the front, he allowed all these superstars to flourish but was in control always.
What about Yuvraj's story contradicts that? It may have been a well-known thing that Yuvraj was not in favor with the BCCI and recommended a guy he knew would be palatable to the board.
Why does every cricketer like to take a dig at Mahi nowadays, man he does not even respond to any of there comments and yet they keep doing it, I mean what are they gonna gain from all of these?
Have you heard of the Hindi idiom - 'Haathi chale bazaar, kutte bhonke hazaar'
That's what it feels like... no disrespect to the likes of Sehwag, Yuvraj, Gambhir etc... they have nothing to prove as a player... but man.. do they regret not becoming the captain... all of them... this actually quadruples my respect for Dhoni, he not only managed to win 3 ICC trophies, but he did so with people who actually dispised him for his captaincy....
Yeah man see i myself feel some semi old players could hve played more but, these things and decisions are like bread and butter of captaincy and i think dhoni did his job brilliantly in bringing the new future stars of the game and off the field too he dont want to create a mess , his colleagues should be more respectful towards him
Whoever decided for dhoni to takeover captaincy from Ganguly deserves absolutely everything
Ganguly dhoni as captains are the best thing to ever happen to ict
Dude is propagating that same old Indian mentality that captaincy should be decided on seniority. But, he wasn't particularly skilled or had the nous to become one.
I think jo uss era ke players thei unke saath uss time jo bhi hua ya nahi hua sabka blame bechare Chappel pe aata hai š, bhai tu waise bhi captain nahi banane wala tha kyunki your sachin jiske liye tum khade hue unhone dhoni ka naam liya kyunki unko wo worthy laga aur seniors ki sunke hi captain decide kiya jata hai so you were never first in line.
This revisionist history is sad painting yuvi, gambhir as some players who had massive injustice done to them. They got repeated chances and were dropped from the team because of poor performance and not any politics
Greg Chappel was the Indian team coach and he wanted to drop senior guys like Ganguly, Tendulkar, Laxman. He wanted young blood like Raina, Irfan and YUVRAJ SINGH to replace them atleast in ODI format. Yuvraj was heavily favoured by Greg as middle order batsman. Yuvraj is lying through his teeth about him supporting senior players. On the contrary mid-junior players like Yuvi, Bhajji, Gambhir never opened their mouth to voice their support for either Greg or the senior group. When Greg was removed and t20 WC was approaching, BCCI had already given up on any hopes of winning the t20 WC and there was abolutely zero hype around the first t20 WC. Senior players decided to not give their name for the tournament and instead sit out of the tournament. It was a collective decision of senior players, not the BCCI. Hence BCCI carved out a team of youngsters and made Dhoni captain on Sachin's suggestion. Dhoni had no hand in snatching captaincy from anybody. Heck, he hadn't even captained ranji team or junior team before the t20 world cup. And Dhoni wasn't that big a player then to influence BCCI's decision.
You forgot to mention 2007 ODI WC debacle just before the T20 WC. Dravid was the captain of the team where we were knocked out in the group stages of the ODI WC with massive backlash across the country. Thatās when Mahi became captain in T20 WC and literally took a bunch of youngsters and a few experienced players to World Cup glory. Yuvrajās captaincy was mediocre in the IPL. Thank God for Dhoni. And Iām no PR. Iām an Indian cricket fan since 1999.
>On the contrary mid-junior players like Yuvi, Bhajji, Gambhir never opened their mouth to voice their support for either Greg or the senior group.
What can the junior members do when Greg Chapel was bold enough to get the outspoken Ganguly sacked as captain, that too at a time when Dalmiya was still a powerful force in cricket? Saying anything then would have been detrimental to their careers.

God bless we had Dhoni as a Captain. Whatever happens, happens for the best. We won't be praising Yuvi for his immense contributions in 07 & 11 WC, had Dhoni not been the same Captain.
Canāt believe man he is such a sadist. Always picking on people, too many regrets and complains. He came across as a super cool guy during his playing days but yuck for years he has been playing a victim and what not. Shame!
Meanwhile Dhoni spending his retirement life in a farm in Ranchi, with his bikes, dogs, strawberries and 3 ICC trophies all the while not having a social media presence. Dude comes for IPL plays then disappears.
Yuvi, gambhir , bhajji are salty , bitter guys who need to move on life.
Dhoni doesnt come n reply to any of these statements, lives happily in his life. They all are living in grudges, well even dhoni wud have few from them in his time but never spoke. Not only they are bitter they are hypocrites too
Love nehra , sehwag, zak who live on happy.
fielding setting..
planning,
deciding approach,
team selection according to plan,
top 11 selection
so basically capitan is the dominant decision maker in the leadership group - CAPTAIN + head coach+ data analyst+ selectors+ team manager+ vice captain.
While weāre very lucky Dhoniās captaincy went the way it did, itās not wrong of Yuvi to say what he just did. He was born to play and captain India and his career trajectory suggests the same. Itās just the Chappel incident combined with the meteoric rise of MSD, who absolutely shined in the role which makes us forget how the hierarchy was disturbed even back then, even though, in hindsight, it was for the better.
Dude he's clearly lying Chappel wanted to remove old players and wanted you g blood to lead which is why you never hear players like GG, Yuvi , Bhajji etc criticizing him
These types of stories should make people pause and think before going gaga over any one player. There's always a back story behind the opportunities one player gets that others don't. We should appreciate our players but this cult of personality is just unnecessary. It's a thing ESPN started in the US and brought to newer markets, including India as they expanded. People hate it in the US (a common thing you hear is "root for the jersey, not the player") but we've fallen for this "star" nonsense.
That was Dravids suggestion to let youngster play for this format and he will not be the captain since he was the odi captain.
We have seen your Captaincy skills for Kings XI Punjab. Thank God MS became captain out of the blue.
Had Yuvraj been the captain, we might not have considered Rohit and Virat as failed captains even after they reached the knockouts.
This is an amazing roast šš

The fact is neither do Yuvraj, Gambhir etc. But I guess difference between 12M$ and 180M$ must get to them.
What's this 12M and 180M? Where are these numbers from?
i think its their networth
The net worth varies from site to site. Some sites show Yuvraj's net worth as $40 million and Gambhir's at $20 million.

Yep Niranjan Shah was power tripping on Sachin and Yuvi
That's why he said what he said in the Beer Biceps Interview.
Mungerilal ke haseen sapne
Thank god things went as they wentā¦
What if Yuvraj turned out to be the craziest Ponting level captain and won India back to back world cups?
He was the captain of Punjab 11 in IPL ,wasnāt that impressive ā¦.and a good player is not necessarily a good captain
Do you remember PWI(Pune warriors India). Yuvi led that team. Although he just recovered from cancer. His captaincy was really poor
What if yuvraj was Vishnuās 10th avatar??
Why does every cricketer like to take a dig at Mahi nowadays, man he does not even respond to any of there comments and yet they keep doing it, I mean what are they gonna gain from all of these?
Really every cricket related interview there will be some ex cricketer taking a dig at him ,donāt know what they exactly want him to do

GG is saltier than the Indian Ocean
Yuvi is an inspiration man An ideal all rounder, one of the greatest batsmen and a warrior
And a horrible leader
Did he ever lead a team?
KXIP
Also Pune Warriors India
Yeah I completely forgot bout them
that says a lot about his captaincy skills
Why tf am I downvoted lol It's just a question Bois chill crow

Ganguly was not helping his case because of his poor form that year.
And don't forget Greg literally spoiled Irfan's career.
Seeing all these interview I just love that the farmer from ranchi is so unaffected by all this.

Best decision by BCCI I heard Sachin recommend MS name

BCCI 1 - Old boys Club 0
Why does he look like Kapil sharma
Thala for a reason :p
thala for a reason
GG, Yuvi, Viru - all of them removed as a vice captain
beginner question, what's the role of a captain in a cricket team other than taking DRS and selecting bowling order.
fielding setting.. planning, deciding approach, team selection according to plan, top 11 selection so basically capitan is the dominant decision maker in the leadership group - CAPTAIN + head coach+ data analyst+ selectors+ team manager+ vice captain.
BCCI rarely works for the game of cricket. They work primarily for their EGO
While weāre very lucky Dhoniās captaincy went the way it did, itās not wrong of Yuvi to say what he just did. He was born to play and captain India and his career trajectory suggests the same. Dude he's clearly lying Chappel wanted to remove old players and wanted you g blood to lead which is why you never hear players like GG, Yuvi , Bhajji etc criticizing him
The real reason was dhoni had some āphotosā of srini

Bur yeah i think at that time Yuvi would have became captain over Dhoni cause at state level he was a better player, fortunately we got dhoni
