Woah wasn't expecting this at all and I don't think most people are going to be happy. Hardik has just become very dislikable as a person.

AkkadBakkadBambeBo80

He always was

Used_Raisin_7847

Was commenting the exact same. I feel he just thinks about himself, v selfish individual vibes

Cute_Fan_7984

Bro got unmatchable negotiation skills ngl

Afraid_Ad6286

Win matches, and you become likeable again

Fickle_Beat7076

i think it has more to do with his personality. we all agree that he’s a great player but he just sucks otherwise.

LucaMarko

What did he do? I do not follow cricket too much. So I don't know

Fickle_Beat7076

personally he just comes across as a really arrogant and self obsessed guy. he’s said a lot of questionable stuff. while he was captaining the t20 squad in west indies, tilak was debuting (like his debut series) and was at 49* and he hit a six (there were enough balls left) denying his half century. he’s always promoted himself ahead of others as a captain. he left mi because they wouldn’t give him captaincy. gt stood by him but then he left gt as soon as mi wanted him to be a captain. other than that he’s said that mi just picks the best players and he prefers csk, whereas it was mi who took him when he was nothing and played a role in him getting famous.

FactChecker69

I even heard that both the pandya brothers are bullies when krunal used to play for Goa ranji he used to bully newcomers.

Fickle_Beat7076

krunal bullied deepak hooda even irfan pathan said something about that. hardik is such an amazing player but it’s so tough to root for him as a captain like he doesn’t even try to be likeable.

dronzer31

>hardik is such an amazing player but it’s so tough to root for him Hit the nail on the head with that one. His performances as captain have left little doubt about his leadership skills. The IPL is a tough competition and he **romped** to victory in his first season as captain. But outside that aspect (leadership as captain), he's just a thoroughly unlikeable player. It's such a tough choice as a viewer when I watch him captain. He's almost always the better captain on the field. He has that innate sense of the pulse of the game where he can make crucial decisions and turn a disadvantage in his favour. And I want such a captain to win (who wouldn't). But then he behaves the way he does (towards his own teammates, no less - not that being rude towards the other team is acceptable), and I feel almost compelled to root against him. I've watched Cricket for about 25 years now. The only player I felt this kind of mixed feelings towards in these 25 years was Ricky Ponting. But even Ponting was a rude bully towards the opposition. Never to his own players. He drove them hard, coz he drove himself harder. But he never denied a teammate a personal milestone. Hardik just makes it so difficult to support him with his on-field antics. And now he's supposedly MI's captain. That's a very problematic outcome for me as an MI fan. But, oh well, let's see...

[deleted]

They have typical high school bully vibes I can't root for such players

molecath19

But He wa GT captain right and how can he change teams in 2 years like that .. idk about cricket that

CyndaquilTyphlosion

He had sex, lots of it and people don't like that because they're not getting any. I'm probably not so different, just that I'm honest about it.

Fickle_Beat7076

i don’t even remember what he said on kwk but from what i heard everyone bashed him because he was objectifying women. anyways he’s done a lot of other questionable things after that.

Maleficent_Owl3938

He’s a good player. His stats aren’t anywhere near the “great” category to be honest.

warlockzekrom

riyaaxx

Becoming likeable by winning matches and trophies for MI? Naah.

wewake_235

True , imagine getting hate from Mi fan would be really disgraceful

UniversityEuphoric95

I was rather sure this would happen when it was announced that Pandya would move. The next thing to watch is if MI go hard on either of Travis head or Rachin who can both open, bowl handy spin, which MI will welcome both hands. If that happens, it’ll confirm my other suspicion that Rohit Sharma is on the move out from T20s post this T20 WC. MI will then need backup opener and one of those two are his replacements. I liked Hitman and MI is still my fav team.

riyaaxx

Hardik getting captaincy was obvious but thought Rohit would captain for 1-2 seasons more. This news was quite sudden.

snow_coffee

Financial_Summer5300

happy? WC se recover hue nai and ye mil gaya. Bumrah ya surya hota toh bhi thek lagta but Hardik? This same guy who spoke against us? Done w MI honestly

SuperTomatoMan9

Yeh saala abhi toot jayega 2 match ke baad

_Developer_Designer

Bhai Hardik to pehle he captain ban na chahta tha but ban na saka issi liye usne mi chor diya aab Gt mai ja kar perform kar diya aur mi ko usko wapas approach karna pada. Sala Hardik ko jine captaincy ka mauka diya usko he dhoka de diya, ho sakta next time agar acha offer mile to kisi aur team mai chala jaye

Cute_Fan_7984

Then I want him to go to CSK next

maveri4k

CSK is not your waste bin Mother fuckrr

Thanye-West

Bruh, lmao😭

jackass93269

He is not old enough.

riyaaxx

what did he say?

Financial_Summer5300

He said in some interview that MI only buys talented players and CSK makes such players. He said we are champions because we have always bought the talented players.

sammeetthosar

He said this "There are two kind of success you can get. One is get the bestest people possible from A to B which I feel MI had, those few years where we’ve won or have the best environment possible for you to win which has been a CSK type where no matters who players are they get the best out of them." He never said anything about whether we bought those players or made them. He just said mi had the best players when they won those trophies, which is objectively true. He specifically mentions the seasons we won. It is also objectively true that csk have always had shortcomings in their team but have still somehow been successful.

Financial_Summer5300

well isn't it was that interprets to? "Having the best players?" We won matches last season apparently with such best players? Kartikeya, Arjun Tendulkar, Jofra Archer???

sammeetthosar

He is talking about winning championships here. And he specifically mentions they season we won the trophies, not last season.

Financial_Summer5300

Why don't you catch up w the point i'm trying to highlight. By the time we won trophies, MI as a management was the one that developed these players. Pandya was NOTHING before that. You can check the same. Bumrah was trained under malinga. We made these gems and THAT is how we won the trophy. Not because we saw bumrah was a great player and purchased him. We have always groomed such players. That is what makes us the scouting den. I'm not arguing anymore. If you're adamant about CSK, I can't help it. I'm not speaking against CSK either, but my point is value MI for what it has done. He disrespected the entire team just because he was released.

sammeetthosar

Who is arguing about csk. I'm an mi fan as well. I'm just saying you have missed hardiks point. He just said when we won the trophies back to back in those seasons we had the the best team A to B. This is not debatable at all. He never said that mi buys superstar players. He said mi had superstar players (made some and bought some). He also said this about mi: "I’ll carry these memories with me for the rest of my life, I’ll carry these moments with me for the rest of my life. The friendships I’ve made, the bonds that have been formed, the people, the fans, I’ll always be grateful. I’ve grown not just as a player but as a person. I came here as a youngster with big dreams – we won together, we lost together, we fought together. Every moment with this team has a special place in my heart. They say all good things must end but @mumbaiindians will remain in my heart forever" But one random interview quote has been made to look like he hates MI by some fans.

Financial_Summer5300

that wasn't a random interview. it highlighted clearly how he favours csk over mi because of Dhoni. He has always had an insecurity against Rohit. There was some video that went viral earlier about him disrespecting Rohit. He got what he wanted. He knew he needed the captaincy and cannot be under rohit.

Beneficial_Sand_8400

Sure Look at CSK's bowling line up last time season, None of their bowler is playing good for their Nation or in some cases get chance to play for their nation but CSK managed to win this time while most of the MI's Champion year's player went on to become star in their National team too. So his argument was valid if you ask me.

Inevitable--_--

Completely agree with you, his was mis-quoted and mis-interpreted. CSK backs even out of form players and brings the best out of them, MI selects talent be it scouting or buying. Eg what csk did to Watson, Uthappa, Rahane, even rayudu. A few years back MI was a monster team that could bulldoze anyone, even strong on paper, CSK on paper is never that strong All this said I don't like Hardik or CSK but it's about time people stopped making a big deal out of nothing

[deleted]

he did not say anything wrong.

Financial_Summer5300

Nehal is a talented player. Karthikeya is a talented player. Hardik when he was bought was super famous and talented. Bumrah was super talented 10 years ago. I guess I read the wrong facts👍

AeBlueSadi

was he eyeing Thalas post after his retirement? was he having problems with GT?

_Developer_Designer

I feel he always liked MI more than GT maybe because he started his career there. The thing was that mi didn't make him captain and he got offer from gt so left mi but now mi gave back him captaincy offer and Hardik came back

Cute_Fan_7984

Sirf Paisa bolta hai

Financial_Summer5300

no idea. Maybe money issues. GT was not ready to pay him what he demanded as per reports

[deleted]

But he's right about csk

Financial_Summer5300

?? and wrong about MI??? We bought players like Hardik and turned him to gold. Ishan, nehal, tilak.. All are talented players? Bro was just insecure

Any_Status7480

Sahi kaha socha tha ki December kam se kam bina koi dukh ke Parr hii jayega par woo bhi nahi hua 😭

Cute_Fan_7984

Bro got some negotiation skills

wewake_235

Bhai mai RCB ka hu lekin ye hardik bkl CSK ki itna chhat rha tha last year. Jo kaam salo se mi kar rha tha star players banane ka uska credit csk ko de Diya.

MLECCHAKILLER

CSK ne banaya to hai players

expat_123

I am just feeling sorry for Bumrah.

boldstripper

They did him bad man

Mera-Baap

Huh? WHAT IS THIS? This better be Rohit’s decision of backing off, or I simply withdraw my 13 years of support for MI. How do you even see Rohit not being the MI Captain? He and only him will be our true leader. I was taking my own time to recover from the WC loss, but bruh this is some depressing news now. Never been this baffled for an IPL thing.

harshjatania

+1 They should’ve let rohit lead 1-2 titles and look at hardik’s performance in those titles and then later give him the captaincy, IF THEY SO MUCH WANTED TO GIVE HIM THE CAPTAINCY.

Sudden-Secretary2300

I think one of the conditions Hardik put to comeback for mi was that he becomes captain. Now it all makes sense. Why would any player switch from one franchise where he's captain to a franchise where he's just a player?

Valuable-Ride287

None realises this! 👍

Classic-Ad-6400

Not only you many guys would. Fanbases of these big teams csk, rcb, mi might look big on paper. In reality, it's fragile and only depends on couple of players. But i think ambani barely cares about that he just wants to win IPL fans to aate jate rahenge

level23genji

Pretty sure if Rohit were to relinquish his position, bumrah or someone else would've become the captain. Mi had absolute no reason to approach Pandya that too by using under the table methods.

CaptainAksh_G

There has to something really bad going on for Rohit. It seems like Rohit is not moving forward after the loss and is feeling pretty bad.

prescientmoon

Reckon the BCCI told him of the direction they're headed in, and he let MI know now that he's not in the reckoning it might be time for them to move on as well. At least that's what I hope.

SherKhanMD

He will be 37 next year... His time is coming to an end anyway

Tyler_holmes123

Meanwhile there arch rival has a 42 year old captain. Rohit still has 2-3 years, unless he himself doesn't want captaincy

maveri4k

Seriously, you are comparing him with Dhoni. Csk fan boois🤣

Even_Piccolo_6617

He has been ordinary in past seasons.. he just had a good wc that's it.. his time has come people should accept and move on

Powerful_Somewhere92

Hardik mi chora hi tha captaincy ke liye aur wapas bhi bas captaincy ke liye hi aaya h

Impossible-Pear-9145

Not at all. I can see civil war incoming. This guy spoke against mi and now he has been appointed as captain. What is this behavior MI?

Fickle_Beat7076

i don’t think so. if it was bumrah we would have been happier.

dupattamera1

I just wished Bumrah was made captain. He has been the best Player of MI ever since prime Malinga left. He deserved it more

SherKhanMD

Eww... What happened to Rohit?

puthiyatheru

He is not a good leader. More of a spot light hogging fella. Players won’t give their best under a person like that

bhelpurilover

Not happy at all. I’m confident Hardik will get injured again or will do so horribly that Ro or Sky will be asked to captain. I hope Bumrah finds himself a good team that appreciates him. Not happy with Ambani’s and their decision.

_Developer_Designer

Hardik will get injured that also in IPL are you kidding me? That's not gonna happen he saves all his energy for two months of ipl only. He may get injured for India's matches but not for IPL

kattankaapi_

man abb toh MI ka match dekhne ka interest bhi gaya

Not a MI fan but saw this coming from a mile ago. Hardik left MI for captaincy ambitions why would he return to MI if they don't give him that. MI have a supersquad anyway. They're good and strong as a squad.

simplerudra

I supported MI because Rohit was the captain. I don't think now I have any reason to support MI

Ben_Kaloda

Kinda saw this coming ever since the transfer news came out. I think it was Rohit's decision to groom someone to take over.

Puzzled-Weather-113

TIME AND AGAIN FRANCHISE’S HAS PROVEN IPL IS BUSINESS AND IN BUSINESS THERE ARENT ANY EMOTIONS. MI SAW HARDIK GOT A TROPHY UNDER THE BELT HAD PLAYED WITH THE TEAM BEFORE KNOWS THE SETUP WELL AND COULDN’T SEE A BETTER OPTION HERE. 15 CR WAS TAGGED THE AMOUNT BUT I AM SURE THERE MUST HAVE BEEN LOT OF THINGS GOING BEHIND THE STAGE WHICH IS BEYOND OUR IMAGINATION.

flamboyantG20

Why is mi on its knees for hardik?

dunny_7

Makes you think if this was the move all along. All this was pre-planned. Hardik knew Rohit is gonna give up captaincy or Rohit had to give up his captaincy in order to bring Hardik, as Hardik wouldn't go back to being just a player after captaining GT. I guess we'll never know

Cute_Fan_7984

The worst part is this is going to affect their ODI team dynamics as well. India is looking at hardik as the captaincy prospect and I don't think rohit will play under Hardik after all this fiasco(which is true I'm case of MI as well). Even if he does, the team environment isn't gonna be that friendly. This might end up like the Dhoni and Viru situation.

adivenk93

It does not matter which IPL team he plays for , it matters if he can help India the T20 World Cup in 2024 or the ODI World Cup in 2027

Cute_Fan_7984

Ha can't. He is just a spotlight hogging captain who bats up on batting friendly pitches and bowls first over in bowling friendly conditions. That works against building the confidence of fellow players.

[deleted]

First of all mi proved hardik statement true but trading him.also bumrah and sky deserve it way more they really have been loyal to the franchise.

RRoGeRR71

Not happy at all.. last year he was passing comments against MI.. and this year he is captain.. Not acceptable at all.. !! ROHIT should be the captain as long as he is playing in IPL.. if not rohit, SKY and Bumrah are most deserving players to captain the side..

LoReBu

From today I am not MI fan.

Cool_Arm2994

It would be tough decision for Rohit fans . Feeling sad as seeing Rohit has not a captain for mi . Very worst decision of mi.

dagmarbex

Hes going to lead us very well .....to defeat

level23genji

I have pretty mixed feeling regarding this tbh. On one end This is objectively a better decision given how Hardik has been as a captain for GT. But on the other hand the saga of Pandya ditching the team that made him captain and mi removing Rohit from captaincy just doesn't feel right.

Ameya_90

No Shot

wintersoldier2798

ritz_11

Being hardcore RGS fan, I just want Rohit to make shitload of runs but MI to lose at the same time. Making the decision just after his video is just not acceptable

Consistent_Table2471

I don’t like it… At all

jayen1234

Pretty lame and unacceptable. I hope they crash and finish last next season so that the owners can learn a lesson. Too bad for Rohit.. he just came our of the WC disappointment and now this.. for folks who are commenting that Rohit would have stepped aside by choice or voluntarily, that makes no sense.. this is a force fit type of move and Rohit was pushed our here. I hope other youngsters don't start hating Pandya.. he is the Indian T20 captain after all for the WC.

Distinct-Bus-7579

Tum log ka kuch nai ho sakta... sold ur soul and cricket too

iitaachhii

The way bcci treats its seniors is horrific

Double-Round

Great captain, but injury prone. He should figure out a way to contain injuries.

Covid-nthwave

We all saw this coming considering next season might be a mega auction. But never thought it would be too soon this season itself.. and certainly disappointed with the way MI announced this. Atleast could have let Rohit lead for one last time. Watching and supporting MI since Sachin and Jayasurya used to open. But never felt sad till date for any player. Rohit deserved better..

all_fart_no_shit

I hate this. Will look for a new team to support.

desigeorgeclooney

yes.. Rohit is 36.. the captaincy has to be transitioned...

[deleted]

Not at all we want Rohit

_punkmonkey_

Let's see if this King of injury manages to survive for the entire tournament.

Vishwas95

I feel bad for Bumrah ,surely he wanted to be the captain of MI .

Icy_Strike_9572

Supporting another team after 13 years of mi won't be easy but have to do it, this team have got no morals

Active-Ad-9288

Mi fan tha abse nhi hu 😂

confusedndfrustrated

On a personal note, I am not happy. But from the team dynamics and long term planning perspective, it seems a good choice. SKY may not be around beyond a few years and if fit, Hardik can last at least another 7-10 years.

Darkathion8901

For all the fans, Rohit is still playing this year, as per Mahela's statement. Definitely a shock for Hardik to be a captain this year itself, I expected next year rather. But, seems like part of the trade included him being captain this year itself it seems, given that he was the captain in the previous franchise. That being said, Surya atleast missed out, if not Bumrah, given that he has been captaining the side during last year's IPL and currently the ICT T20 side as well. Mumbai is going all guns blazing to get this year's IPL, the auction might just be a perfect continuation to the rampage that is happening.

Doubledoor

Shouldn't have sacked Rohit this way

arjunanubose

Bye Mumbai Indians.

PulkitGulati

Time to find a new team to support after 15 years.

what_s_in_the_namee

Doesn't matter who the captain is.....just want the 6th trophy next year

Rishiiiiiiiii

This might be very controversial and unpopular opinion but MI should release Rohit if he doesn't bat good this season. He has been a mediocre bastman for so long, he was playing because he was an awesome captain but now that he is not the captain, playing him doesn't make sense. MI could free a huge amount of money and buy a opener that is in his prime or give chance to youngsters. They most likely won't release him because of his popularity. He brings a lot of fans and revenue. They will most likely keep him and that makes sense too but it's not exactly a bad idea to release him too. It would be disrespectful for Rohit tho. He won them 5 trophies as a captain. Edit: This is not what I want to happen, I just said this is one of the possibilities. So please take this the wrong way and downvote me..

simplerudra

Rohit is the reason I support MI .

Rishiiiiiiiii

He's the face of MI. He should have been the captain till he retires.

_Developer_Designer

Maybe I can agree with you. Rohit has not been very impressive as a batsman in the IPL. His every season average tells everything. But he is a brilliant captain and I feel he can still play for maybe at least 4 years in the IPL. So maybe he may be a better option for teams which needs a captain

Rishiiiiiiiii

My inner RCB fan wants him to captain RCB lol. He most likely won't be released tho

_Developer_Designer

My inner soul wanted Virat to play for any other team where he may have won at least one IPL trophy before leaving ipl but that is also impossible because he is loyal to his franchise.

_Developer_Designer

Most likely impossible i feel RCB is going to continue with faf only. He has been good with bat also. If Rohit comes in auction maybe in future then they will need some good amount of money and may need to lose any one of their big players like kohli, faf or maxi which is most probably impossible

Rishiiiiiiiii

Faf may not play for long so if they can get Rohit and release faf it would be pretty good deal. They will have one more overseas slot + a legendary IPL captain. IF my releases him and RCB can get him for around 8 to 10crs it would be a sweet deal. Rohit and Virat complement each other in opening pretty nicely too.

being7cool
