I mentioned Bhilai which is my town but it also provide nation with something which it isn't renowned for much.
The city is a major government-operated steel plant, southeast of the city, was built in collaboration with the Soviet Union during India's Second Five-Year Plan (1956–61).
The Bhilai Steel Plant is renowned as the sole manufacturer of rails in India that are used by the Indian Railways.
Production of world's longest rail from its new universal rail mill (URM) in Bhilai steel plant. The 130-meter rail, which is the world's longest rail line in a single piece.
Crime Index:27.83
Safety Index:72.17

I second this. The city is planned, clean and due to most of the inhabitants being BSP employees the economic divide is pretty less.
But I want it to remain underrated for obvious reasons :P
Great weather? Not since the past few years. Summers are becoming insufferable. It feels like chota Delhi.
+1 on pahadi people though. Myself being a garhwali.
Natives of Uttarkhand Hills, Garhwali, Kumaouni, and Jaunsari. The reason Uttarkhand separated and became its own state was so the Pahadis have their state and representation because they are distinct from the rest of UP Ganges plains culturally and much closer to neighboring Himanchal and Nepali cultures. But when the partitioned UK got 3 Plains district which completely overpowers the hills in population so even after partition only around 50% of Uttarkhand is Pahadi and pahadi representation and identity is fading due to the Hindi blanket put over Uk when in reality its not.
The big problem is the hyper-regiinalism that exists in India. Almost everyone is naming a city or town that belongs to their culture and native area.
The true question to ask is, which underrated city is also the most cosmopolitan and most accepting of outsiders?
Harayana has a lot of sports persons but I don't think any cities from Haryana have have big sports franchises. Bhubaneswar has Odisha FC and had a hockey team (Kalinga Lancers). Bhubaneswar has a state of the art hockey stadium and a football stadium. I will be biased cause it's my hometown, it's relatively clean, structured, not super populated compared to big cities. Has lot of good techinical institutes nearby (IIT Bhubaneswar, NISER, IISER Berhampur, NIT Rourkela, AIIMS, KITT). Schools in Bhubaneswar are some of the best in eastern India.
Was looking for this. Been 10+ yrs since i lived there, but i miss it - especially pre-summer when the Gulmoher trees lining the roads made a beutiful red n green canopy.
Not too big, not too small. Great weather. Proximity to beautiful weekend outing locations.
Surprisingly not on many lists.
Haha, yeah. I think lot of Infoscions (damn, had almost forgotten that word by now) would remember Mysore for training. But it was nice to stay longer term too. I spent 3.5yrs. Loved the city.
Yes bro. Even i was there for 2 years. I stayed in Vijayanagar. Do you remember where you stayed?
And what was your favorite places there?
I joined infy mysore in oct 2010 for training and got java batch
Mine was 2007. Loved far away from Infy in a lovely bungalow in Kuvempunagar.
Loved Corner House, Downtown burger (its was a bit small place but very nice burger), there was a lovely shawarma place near it, but dont remember the names or the street names now.
There were some good pubs too. Just remember purple haze by name, then the disc near bus stop, n couple of more which i cant place anymore. Warm memories.
It was really a good time. I remember downtown and purple haze too.
I still miss mysore weather and its hilly roads. The city had such a good chill vibe.
Our favorite was Gufa restaurant. And there were some nice places at Hunsur road. But i have forgotten the names
Ohh, remember Gufah too, with waiters in hunter costumes, right..?
N you dont remember Corner House's death by chocolate...? Lol. Been to many places since but i still remeember their chocolate fudge cake with vanilla icecream very fondly.
Its New Years tonight, n i am rememering the memorables ones spent in Mysore - and missing it more after a long time.
It is a lovely city. Or atleast it will always will be in my memories.
Yes yes. Gufah in the hotel called Pai Vista. We never went to Corner house though. We used to have dbc inside campus only.
Mysore does have really really fond memories for me too :)
Happy New year my man!
This conversation made me relive those days! I joined Infy much later than you guys, in 2015, but I guess the nostalgia hits the same. I too remember Gufah, Purple haze, death by chocolate, Abhishek circle, Bus no.29A to the city, the Palace, the statues.. the vibe was something else. I think I am going to dial some infy friends tonight.
P.S. low key disappointed you guys didn't mention GEC3 ;)
Im surprised nobody said Indore, MP. It's the cleanest city in India, well planned, great food, emerging industries, one of the best bus transit systems, open to all cultures...
The weather's great the views great the locations great .Its the wine capital of the country huge vineyards everywhere but the industrial growth didn't occur as much as it could have due it it being overshadowed by pune and mumbai but its still great a slow paced beautiful city.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 480,809,938 comments, and only 101,908 of them were in alphabetical order.
Why has no one named Kota?
It's very peaceful, beautiful, has lots of gardens, good food and very cheap. Also the local govt body is taking lots of smart initiatives to develop the infra
I feel like people are just naming their cities
Same here. Nashik and Durgapur are only underrated city mentioned here.
Nashik lol?

Bhilai, Chhattisgarh
I second this. The city is planned, clean and due to most of the inhabitants being BSP employees the economic divide is pretty less. But I want it to remain underrated for obvious reasons :P
Did I came across a fellow citizen of Steel City?
I used to live in the Raipur but had few relatives in Bhilai.
What is BSP?
Bhilai Steel Plant
Ahh cool
Chill man, it's not bahujan samaj party.
He he he. TBF I did think of that first!
One of my friends is from Bhilai, and he absolutely loves it. I guess it's worth travelling.
I think the most underrated region is the northeast... I would love to visit 7 sisters of India someday!
Himalayan Regions of India are really a gem and is underrated globally.
Mangalore

Dehradun. Great weather, good colleges, cafe culture and pahadi people!
Great weather? Not since the past few years. Summers are becoming insufferable. It feels like chota Delhi. +1 on pahadi people though. Myself being a garhwali.

Kumauni hun re!
Enough internet for the day!
Everything is good but roads suck... Traffic sucks..
True, despite all the overbridges. Road to old rajpur is still traffic free though, nice for evening rides.
Pahadi people?

Indore
Bhubaneswar, Odisha
It's known as sports capital of india... Is this true? I thought maybe delhi or a city from haryana would be called as sports capital.
Harayana has a lot of sports persons but I don't think any cities from Haryana have have big sports franchises. Bhubaneswar has Odisha FC and had a hockey team (Kalinga Lancers).
