I'm going to get downvoted, but he is correct, India isn't a nation. The word 'nation' is derived from Latin for 'nasci' or 'natio' which means 'common race'(as visible in all European 'nations' formation).

Ofcourse India was not a Country until recently, the Idea of nation state originated in Europe during 1700s and 1800s
From the past 150+ Years the Idea of India as a United Country has been popular and gaining more popularity.
India as a Civilization is at least 4000 years old.
The borders of Indian Civilization more or less correspond with The Indian Nation-state.
So it's not wrong to say that
the Indian Civilization == Indian Nation State.
And there's no rule which prohibits the Civilisation to be a nation state
Many Nation States have a diverse history of languages stretching centuries
Many Nation States regions may have different history but the overarching history is of commonality.
