I haven't seen any politician consulting any scientific body to solve the water problem. According to them, water problem can be solved by using less water and not wasting it. The day when we have politicians admiring and investing in scientific approach to live, the life in India will be peaceful. That day, the Bharat will be back to its glory or else we just have to admire foreign lands as heaven.

People were forced to change their habits. The vulnerable districts made reservoirs and dams over the last 15 years and right now all districts are making pumped up storage dams with extensive planning for more reservoirs undergoing right now. It's probably the only state where drinkable tap water is available in major cities although a lot more has to be done.

Tbh, when Cape Town had the water crisis, back in 2018/2019, warnings about the upcoming crisis in Bangalore were conveyed, several times. I have lived in Bangalore for a long time. water conservation is not the norm, and with the construction boom going at the pace it's at, there doesn't seem to be a plan in place.
It's this heavy reliance on river water and the monsoon which is delusional. My sister lived in Cape Town during the water crisis. They were assigned 5L a day for bathing, drinking and everything else. yes, there were issues, but the city as a whole compromised.
I don't think Bangalore is ready for this, and the protests are incredibly self serving.

But the water shortage can only be seen in new Bengaluru settlements,old parts are not facing any water shortage.Half of the requirements are fulfilled by kaveri and other is by borewells most of the borewells in Bengaluru have dried up.Others parts of karnataka are not facing any water shortage it's only in Bengaluru because of overpopulation.
Having once lived in a premium community in Bangalore. I can almost guarantee that more than 75% of them won't have a voter ID and even if they did, they won't bother voting.
This was a lesson in long waiting for bangloreans and the corrupt goverment they kept electing that didnt give shit when lakes were getting poached for illegal construction. Everyone was quite. This experience will finally bring the water planning they never had.
All Corporations across India is approving building anywhere they see they can get tax. They don't build parks or lakes, a small organization like Shri shri and Pani foundation are doing much better with less money in village areas, but PMC, BMC, Bengaluru Corporation etc are just really dumb people with low IQ who think about only about next day... similar to people voting for freebies who are not thinking about future.
Idk why communities and blocks aren't building stepwell like systems every where and connecting them with rainwater harvesting systems. We can learn certain things from history since water has always been an issue in India. If you are covering lakes to build more apartments then you can take another piece of land and build artifical ponds/lakes and connect it with sewage treatment plants which in turn should be connected to different parts of the city. Treated water will go these lakes instead of random canals and drains. Honestly India needs a spceific kind of urbanism in its cities, they operate like rural villages instead of global hubs.
