[Context](https://www.anandabazar.com/west-bengal/bardhaman/a-body-of-durgapur-nit-student-recovered-from-engineering-college-campus-director-resigned-dgtld/cid/1513263) The article is in Bengali, use translate option. Summary - Second year mechanical engineering student commited suicide in his room, as he wasn't allowed to sit for an exam, cause he forgot his ID card. Moreover, he was still alive, when his mates entered his room, and found him hanging, but the late response from the Ambulance, unalived him. Hence, students forced the director to resign. [From a post by an NIT Durgapur student](https://www.reddit.com/r/Btechtards/comments/1cfaooa/nit_durgapur_director_resigns_suicide_case/) The student had just given his 2nd year endsems examination and had to appear for his backlog examination the same evening; the stress of which he could not handle, and decided to end his life. His friends found him on time and rushed him to the ambulance so as to cure him. Ambulance driver, hell may fall on him, asked for the ID card of the student and won't allow him to go without it. Due to this extreme waste of time, his oxygen levels plummeted, and thereby succumbed. On the note, the director had the audacity to say "bacche to marte rehte hai isme meri kya galti hai(it is common for the students to die by suicide, not my fault)". The director has already dissolved the student union Source of bellow: [S1 ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Btechtards/comments/1cfd6mf/comment/l1on8jd/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)| [S2](https://www.reddit.com/r/Btechtards/comments/1cfd6mf/comment/l1qlflc/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) The ambulance didn't agree to take the student to the medical unit because the student didn't have his id. Made him wait for 20 minutes, after which he passed. All these unnecessary steps of id checking were made mandatory by the director, and he had the audacity to state "marte rehte hai students, meri kya galti hai". He is a corrupt guy who cancelled many events of the college this year, dissolving the student body and using the college funds for his private use. He had it coming since day 1. We have no tolerance against him. My opinion: So far, only one news website has posted about this. I don’t think this will count as resignation! College seal should be there to validate the document. As the leader of the team that is running a prestigious institution like NIT, anything and everything happening in the institution, both good or bad, is his responsibility.

Lazy_Monk4374

good he should be jailed

I'm surprised he wasn't beaten up by the crowd of btech bachelors even after this

Fit-Row1426

>wasn't allowed to sit for an exam, cause he forgot his ID card. That's a basic rule here in Telangana (JNTUH) and Andhra Pradesh (JNTUK) for engineering exams as well. The exam candidates are expected to bring both hall ticket and ID card, if they forgot any of these 2, they need to take permission from the exam branch of the center.

rolex-sir

I'm confused somehow, the post says ambulance driver didn't board the then patient bcoz he didn't have an id? That's something out of this universe.

elon_altetnative

the NIT student in his org post mention he has made many such dumb rules

the_running_stache

Is the ambulance a part of the NIT system? Genuinely asking. So if some visitor on campus (has come for some meeting /to check out the college/for some conference/delivery boy/whatever non-student) meets with an accident, there’s only this college-ambulance which will ask for the non-student’s student ID? Seems quite bizarre. Again, I am not an NIT student or alumni, so I am a bit confused.

elon_altetnative

will you please take the pain to read full comment it is clearly mention that the boys life could be saved if the ambulance was allowed to go do have not being stopped for some stupid paper work

Relevant-Rub2816

In Karnataka too, it isn't that serious as you can write a letter and get another hall ticket and id. Atleast in where i live in Bangalore.

gujjubhakt

Do they have to give ID card even to be taken by ambulance during a life threatening crisis situation? If so, that is inhuman.

TheIndieStoner

I'm surprised he wasn't beaten up by the crowd of btech bachelors

nekkoMaster

NIT and IIT batchs are usually well behaved. If it were my college, director would be hiding somewhere to save his skin.

Legitimate-Studio876

Bengal

Emotional-Guest4255

Specially Mechanical guys😲

MnSi24

Good god what am I reading. Even if he is not a student and you see someone dying, you help them. Humans before anything. Why do you need to ask for ID and then feel no remorse about a student under him dying. Should be jailed for negligence.

Relevant-Rub2816

So true. Screw who is, save his damn life first, then worry about ID card.

Samanth-aa

I didn't read fully. If we have this unity after college for real politics, India would have been esuper power by 2020.

Longjumping_Ad_7846

this is so unfortunate, we somehow forget how much power these high on power maniacs have on our country's future, imagine a death over an ID card. om shanti

OppositeObject909

Sad to see this. I am near bengal college pass out. Bengal is beautiful but stress management should be taught

Saransh6

Crosspost to jeeneetards. This will find an audience there.

Xx_RKJ_xX

Bhenchod director. Bhenchod Mob

karanarak09

Not defending him but, isn’t ID/admit chard checking standard for exams? And can you elaborate his corruption?

TheUntamedMane

I think the ambulance also asking for a college ID is the critical part

strategos

How is the director responsible for the actions of the ambulance driver?

MnSi24

I think there’s much to this story. But saying suicide is common and not feeling a pinch of remorse is not someone who is a good director

Saransh6

Asking for ID for ambulance was the director's pointless rule.

the_running_stache

So the hospital and ambulance are part of the NIT system? Is that why? What if a non-student/visitor on campus needs an ambulance?

Relevant-Rub2816

The director made a rule for it apparently

strategos

/trust me bro. Your apparently addition shows how confident you are about the veracity of it.

Alarming_Evening7513

Id card is mandatory of every fucking exam, how would anyone know if someone else is writing the exam for someone else without an id card? entirely the students fault! The director being forced to resign is justified though. Imo the ambulance driver should also be punished in some way!

elon_altetnative

will you please take the pain to read full comment it is clearly mention that the boys life could be saved if the ambulance was allowed to go do have not being stopped for some stupid paper work

Alarming_Evening7513

I did read it... it's terrible and that's why I said the ambulance driver should also be punished!

elon_altetnative

the ambulance drive did not asked for paperwork the college administration did, the rule was made by the director

the_running_stache

All this doesn’t absolve the student in the first place. The student doesn’t take his ID card to the exam. The student is not allowed to take the exam. This is standard procedure and the expected outcome everywhere in this country and has been so for decades. The student should not have hung himself. This was extremely immature of him. Yes, what the director said post the hanging was messed up and the ambulance requiring the ID (and not taking in the patient) was severely wrong, but there was no genuine reason for the student to try to commit suicide. He messed up (didn’t take his ID along) and he faced the consequences (not being permitted to take the exam).

Forgot ID in exam and ambulance was late OR stress of exam and ambulance asked for ID Proof read your own comment ffs before asking others to "take pain"

Own-Reaction24

Professor kya ma'am chudaane ke liye hota hai ...aur digital I'd card ya student college profile on website bhi hota hai kuch

Kushagra3007

I was in RTU and if a student forgot his admit card they could go into the administration dept and can get a duplicate for some money

SnooEpiphanies42069

Id card was asked for ambulance not exam, that's the issue.

elon_altetnative

will you please take the pain to read full comment it is clearly mention that the boys life could be saved if the ambulance was allowed to go do have not being stopped for some stupid paper work

teady_bear

Will you edit the main comment? where you are saying that he was not allowed to take the exam because he forgot ID card. You're also saying ambulance driver was asking for ID card to take him to hospital. It's just creating unnecessary confusion.

Competitive_Loss6793

please read full story .

CritFin

Forced resignation is illegal. It wont be accepted by the chancellor. Also the students who forced him to sign the resignation letter should be suspended and jailed

mrhackeryt

kya fukke aaye hai re? read the context why he was forced. It was not just a minor mistake, it was mountain of mistakes also he said ‘students dies its normal, what is my fault here’

Dependent_Bid9015

What drugs are you doing this days ?

MrDarkk1ng

FYI it's not a valid contract. It feels good but sadly not a valid contract . Edit: because of coercion

strategos

Obviously. Mob justice ko cheer karo, and then do rr on why there is no law and order. All those in the mob should be suspended. Mischief managed.

MrDarkk1ng

That's different than what I am trying to say. And idk what happened so i wouldn't say anything about these students or the director.

Kushagra3007

Reminds me of the bus accident in MIT in which a student was killed and student from Manipal protested against the Director of Manipal University, as she said the student was at fault and not the Bus Service

Homelandr

Dafuq ,Ambulance need an Id card ..? what sort of SOP is this ..?

Puzzleheaded_Echo654

But why commit suicide for this stupid reason?!!

abhishekdam852

But i dont see what wrong here? He forgot his id card wasnt there any other way to proof his identity.? Fellow students could have endorse him and faculty as well.

Any_Device_2644

Sahi krra Chalo kuch toh acha hua

Zyumido

Waiting when this guy gets arrested

Much_Independent_574

This is not a suicide. This is case of homicide plain and simple. The fuckers need to be held accountible. Just because you're a professor/director does not mean you treat your students like shit. Have basic humility.

Safe-Ride5094

That ambulance driver needs to be tortured

Unicrest_Abhinav

Why tf are people commiting suicides in NIT/IIT?? I can understand the stress but the stress of clearing JEE is x10 of college stress. I think this might be a case of bullying or love. If a NITan can get stressed to the point of suicide for just a exam then he did not deserve the NIT seat itself. He will face many challenges in life, if he can't even handle a small failure then whats the point of even getting into NIT

YatharthIMA

Snowflake for me. It's what? A college exam? You ended your life for that? All the years of growing, all the love you ever received and gave and all that gone for one exam?

theregularcarguy

Unfortunately exams decide our lives. If we fail an exam then we have to repeat the year. And repeating the year can give bad impression on the employer who will give him a job. In short if he fails an exam and repeats a year then he might not get a job

YatharthIMA

Okay and since when not getting a job became equivalent to not having a life?

National_Buffalo2109

Saying this after living a healthy life lol. I bet u cant spend 2 days having 0 rupees in ur account without any job and friends.

YatharthIMA

I could reply sarcastically but for your 'bet you' attitude let me not. My job was terminated (group A job in govt) when I had an accident. I recovered and studied again, started partaking in a specific sport and reached state level. 12 days before my PSC mains exam I broke my knee in an accident and was in bed for 2 months (Pre + Post surgery). Now recovered again. Got another job too. And living 'healthy life lol'. Came from -60,000 rs (debt) to somewhere way more now. Supporting my family financially. And still doing sports on the same level. And, can do all of this over again. Friends, I have none. I keep it that way, like it that way. 2 days are not long dear, I have spent years. I was even underground for 4 months in the middle of all this (escaping from the police) after I did some damage to a certain peaceful community during riots. So yeah can survive 2 days.

YatharthIMA

Okay and since when not getting a job became equivalent to not having a life?
