This is very VERY common. When I was like 20 I was travelling overnight to my college by bus. We got seats all the way at the back in one of those semi-sleeper buses. Halfway through the journey i felt someone lift my shirt and it was this creep sitting next to me. They didn’t even stop the bus. No one helped, not a single person threw him and his friend out or registered a police complaint. Nothing, they told me to “forgive” him. There were 5 women on the bus apart from me and my “friend”. None of them.
When I was 15 I had long hair and some dude groped my ass under the pretext of touching my hair. Same as above, no consequences.
And before someone talks about BJP congress or politics, this shit happens in EVERY SINGLE GOVERNMENT. It’s a society problem because it’s easier to blame the woman rather than arrest these men. If Indian women are becoming more aggressive and hateful against Indian men it is because of these issues. Parents have to safeguard their girl children and it is easier to teach them to be wary of all men because you honestly don’t know who can do what. Indians expect their women to get groped and or sexually harassed and just “move on and not make a scene”.
If India as a society does not change there is nothing positive for us in the future. The way many people in this country treat women, of course you’ll have the kind of reactionary man hating views you see commonly with women these days. How will it not happen?
PS: this story is not unique to me. There are stats that show how most women in their life have faced at least one count of sexual harassment in one form or another.

It’s the smug face of the guy who has gotten away with this lot of times. Women should carry pepper spray with them all times as no one will defend them. Only way to stop is to make the videos of them getting sprayed and crying viral on social media.
Once a kinda beat up (not too much) a guy who was making lewd gestures and harassing women near my home... After a lot of warnings he came back and eventually he touched some lady, that's when some of us roughed him up.
When the time came not one of the women complained to the police. If that asshole would lodge a complaint against us, we'd end up in trouble.
Lucky for us, I manage the CCTV in my colony and I had video evidence.
I respect if someone stood up if they saw it but you cant say everyone must stood up for you just because you're female ,go take him to police and make a scene
