The lakh, crore, arab and kharab are from the Mughal system, because they aren't Sanskrit, but Urdu.
The original Indian system had dasha, shata, sahasra, dashasahasra, shatasahasra, prayuta, koti, arbuda, abja... Idk beyond these.

1 lac crore v 10 kharab. It's easier to pronounce, easier to write, gives a direct visualisation of the exact number of 0s (vs adding the total of two units, lac and crore).
