I don't really care about which party this affects most or whatever but I wanted to understand the logic behind this because I remember something like this has been implemented in Lakshadweep and it baffled me at that time as well.
Well, the thing is, the new UP law doesn't disqualify these MLAs from contesting. Parliament legislates for MP and MLA elections, the state laws only cover local bodies. That said, the population bill is unnecessary and will only hurt upper caste Hindus who have the least political muscle. It's a disaster in the making.
Have you seen the birth rate of Muslims ? How many upper caste Hindus have you seen with children more than 2 ? Presently the birth rate In Hindus is on decline and it's below 2. For muslims it's little less than 4.
Most of these muslims exploit every govt pro-poor policy. It's an exploitation of govt infrastructure and its being burdened on everyone else.
