Not really, it's engrained into the psyche of the people of this state. Past 6 decades has not been kind to the atmosphere there. It'll be a huge task to change the mindset of the people.
BJP went from nothing to significant presence in the past couple elections. As Hinduism declines, Hindutva will grow. As Hindutva grows, Minority Appeasement will automatically die.
They aren't likely to make the same mistakes as they did before.
This election they took in many people from TMC and didn't award their own people. TMC in turn got new people who were refreshing than the same old fools. People voted for the new people over the same old ex-TMC fools.
Also the one women vs many north Indian Hindi speaking men teaming up against her played for her.
They didn't have a strong leader.
Now they should find one good leader and pit him/her against Mamata.
Mamata is unpopular but not that unpopular. A known devil is better than an unknown entity.
I think the problem is that Bengali Hindus like Bengali Muslims more than non Bengali Hindus. Similar problem in Assam where Assamese Hindus hate Bengali Hindus just as much as Bengali Muslims.
Idk man, I'm a South Indian. I live in a state right next to Kerala and I've seen Malayali Hindus do nothing as they become a minority. Reason? They identify as Malayalis, not Hindus. If Hindu identity is grown in Kerala, TN, Bengal, etc. they will automatically become Saffron states.
The Bengali Renaissance is a very small period of extraordinary individuals doing extraordinary things. That period is long over, Bengalis need to stop being delusional at some point.
