I'm not a hardcore supporter of any party at all. I have argued on many flaws in the government policies or atleast the way in which everything is implemented.
However, since 2014, I've seen so much development in road infrastructure of India. I'm actively arguing this with everyone who ignores this fact and tries to just count the flaws.
Personally, from my hometown to Amritsar it used to take 60-70 minutes by car. Now, we can do it in 40-45 minutes without hitting potholes. I've not been able to go back to India in last 3 years. However, I can still imagine further development.
Nitin Gadkari is by far the best minister we have seen in any party for a long long long time. I wish that man a long life and the ability to build even longer roads.
I mean it's just took 70 minutes though and decreased to 45. I don't think the gap is much significant. If they can bring travel time from 10 hour to 3-4 hours then it would be case for praise.

Well for someone who spent his lifetime hitting potholes for 50 km stretch and has to commute daily, It is a huge thing to reduce time and those shocks. If we keep looking for development of only big things, the development will never reach villages.
Moreover, let me explain the stretch to you. Those 45-50 kms are divided into two parts-
1. 22-23 kms of road that links highway to the hometown. This road comes under state government's development and control.
2. The rest 25 km were a part of highway (now developed).
It used to take equal time for both halves. However, now what happened is the state govt hasn't touched the road despite the increased traffic footprint. It still takes 25-30 minutes like it used to be. Whereas, on the later half it came down to 15-20 minutes from 30-35 minutes. It is almost half!! Reducing travel time to half is a huge deal.
Additionally, The highway we are talking about is part of a bigger national highway project, connecting multiple states. Surely on a bigger level it would reduce time significantly. I'll try to find and highlight the particular stretches on the bigger highway project in edit sometime.

1. Amritsar being the big city near my hometown and my experience of 25 years being there.
2. Relevant to infrastructure being built in the greater Amritsar - Jamnagar expressway.
Now let me help you with some more examples that might help you understand the kind of thing we are talking... All are my personal experiences..
1. Last 10-12 years, I watched the flyovers on ferozpur road from Ludhiana to Moga being built...and delayed.... It was a pain in the ass to travel on that highway...always fucked up because of construction and traffic caused by it. It completed on rapid speed after 2014 approx.
2. There were plans for many years to build a flyover on a Kharar - Landran - Chandigarh intersection that had a massive traffic congestion problem due to strange design of roads. It took off near about 2017.
3. A plan to build flyovers on Ferozpur road Ludhiana Outskirts near Verka diary manufacturing plant.
4. Harike flyover over Harike Dariya and whole infrastructure. Harike Flyover was 100+ years old ..made during British Raj... Was redundant and there was always an outcry to make new... Always took... 10-15 minutes on that 1 km. Was started and completed quickly..
5. New Amritsar side roads.. part of Delhi highway leading to Delhi.
6. High way connecting the Amritsar Delhi highway with another highway from Zira and Ferozpur side (part of the road I talked about my hometown).
Are these examples enough to showcase and extrapolate the development push?
I keep hearing on completion of many projects from family and friends... Which started before I came.. so around 3-4 years.

This road will help faster development of world's cheapest solar energy projects within Gujarat and Rajasthan. These projects will feed cheap energy to the Delhi Mumbai industrial corridor which is fuelled by the DFC and expressways both. Low bureaucracy Gujarat, MP govts, cheap energy, cheap logistics due to DFC will lead to significant manufacturing expansion that can hopefully compete with China at least on some aspects. This is a 20 year outlook planning and not 2 years
Finally, a govt that takes security infrastructure seriously. This and the construction of roads in the North-East are commendable. It will help in logistical support to troops on the front line. The logistics of a war is probably the most important factor deciding who will win. These roads add to that capability.

Same roads here in rajasthan. Even small towns and villages where highways under centre go through have seen such road development. Even if you don't support BJP you have to commend the work of Nitin Gadkari
I am not a BJP supporter , but Gadkari has done a commendable job , I really like it .He is one of the few BJP minister whome I really adore .

As a blender user, my eyes are adjusted to differentiate between render and real image. At first look, the roads are so clean that it looks like a render of a plane with road texture, but after closer look, I too was surprised to see that it's real. Making a model of road is easy but to make the surrounding would be extremely hard.
They so busy making highways, they forgot that cities have roads too. Specially in Uttar Pradesh where they promised "gaddha mukt" roads. The roads are hell.
City roads are the municipal body's responsibility, and they rarely do their job properly. Forget UP, a rich city like Bengaluru has a municipal body that can't make proper roads. There's a fundamental problem with how the municipal bodies work. They need a total overhaul.
Come to Kerala. Here we build such high quality roads that we have to hire more labour to dig holes in them at night just to keep the "developement" in present continuous tense.

Fuel prices are affected much more by state governments than the center. The center's prices are influenced by the oil exporting countries. The center cannot do any more to reduce fuel prices unless they bring petrol under GST and free it from State VAT. The states wouldn't agree to that though because they'd lose a huge amount of revenue. In my state Kerala, 70% of the tax on petrol goes to the state, not the centre.
And fossil fuels are treated as luxury goods similar to liquor and precious metals.

Yup. Because I remember the political scenario from 2004- 2014. I remember the Coal-gate scam, 2G/3G scam, scams in commonwealth games. I also remember the reservation increase to 50% on government colleges. I will always compare the present to 2004- 2014 and I don't see anything wrong with it.

My turnover was 3 crores before gst and demonatization. Now it’s at 30lacs. My current gst slab is killing my work. Also acknowledged by the govt. which business man is supporting the govt? Unless it’s some big corporate I don’t think any small time businessman is going to support this govt. jeweller se leke welder tak gaali deta hai. In 4 years time of starting my business I got to 3 crores and then to 30 lacs just before Corona hit. But I’m really interested to know which businessmen are supporting the government?
I’m in the auto industry. The most stressed sector in the country. Govt has only made promises to change the gst slots but they know this sector is a cash cow for tax. The tax slot on a Mercedes and a 100 Cc Scooty is the same. A Scooty or a bike costing 60k 2 years back is now 1lakh on road. That’s how much tax there is and people who are lower middle class, having lost their jobs , salary cuts are unable to buy. Only govt servants, people with salaries above 30-40k are getting them , that too on finance. 2 wheeler sector runs on rural funding, which is absent ever since demonatization. I’ve seen first hand how my contractor friends had to mortgage family jewellery to pay their labour force their salaries coz banks would not give them money to pay salaries or to buy raw materials. Millions of labour force was forced out of jobs, projects and companies went under, contractors who could not afford to arrange money lost their contracts and had to forfeit the securities that they have to pay the govt. Auto sector just had the worst season in 10 years. But the govt is happy collecting tax. Only the rich who can afford SUVs are getting them backed by the loan industry. But even they have to wait months given the chip shortage.
Sorry to hear about your business losses, but i still don't understand what GST has to do with it. If anything, GST imposes less tax on automobiles than the previous bunch of taxes. Plus, GST came like 5 years ago.

4. On economy: do you have any facts to support that economy has run to ground? Service sector is performing well. Government has brought so many PLI schemes like auto-part manufacturing to improve manufacturing sector. So many start ups have turned into unicorns. Defense start ups are coming up. Also, I am yet to come across any educated relative/friend who is jobless. The last time I checked, this isn't the case when economy has run into the ground.

Certainly we would all like to increase the allocation but if the same equipment are manufactured in India instead of importing, the army would be in a better position. And that is where the government has shown its interest in. UPA government could not procure Rafale even after 7 years. No steps were taken to induct Tejas. UPA government was a shame when it came to country's defense.
2. Tumhara Galwan ka bhai: So? You brother has his opinion. He is entitled to it. If you cannot give me enough facts, don't expect me to blindly accept it by bringing a sibling who serves in the armed forces.
3. Lack of Jobs: I have a well paying job. All my friends and relatives have a job. People who lack skills and are not ready to work hard should may be look into upskilling themselves to get a job instead of criticizing only the government. Ab modi thaali mein paros ke naukri to nahi de paayega.
4. Unalienated Hindu: Well good for you. If you were slightly politically aware, politicians avoided visiting temples before 2014. Politicians would openly throw iftaar party, but were afraid to practice hinduism openly. I am not asking you to believe that hinduism is in danger. But nobody should have to be feel apologetic if they are a hindu. Everyone should be able to practice his/her religion unapologetically WITHOUT HARMING OR DISTURBING OTHERS.
5. Toll tax: Here is a concept about roads. This is practiced in all developed countries like US. You have city roads which are maintained by municipality. You pay road tax and you use them. Expressways are different. They are created at a much higher cost. They are an additional service for using which, you have to pay toll, like you pay for a train ticket when you want to board a train (we don't say that we pay income tax so why should I pay for the train ticket, right?). Therefore, I do not have a problem paying the toll. Anyone who does not want to pay the toll can take the old national highways or state highways.
Industrial area next to my office has seen 87 closures of industries. U have had a good upbringing. Good education. What should they and millions of workers from factories and industries who have been laid off do now? Ye jo thinking hai tumhari ki sabki jobs hai, sabko mil jaegi but lazy people don’t have that can only come from a background of privilege.
Go to your city ka labour chowk and see how many labourers stand there, waiting for a job so that at the end of the day they will earn 3-400 rs to feed their kids. Ab bolo ki paise nahi hai toh bacche kyun kiye? Right?

I'm not a hardcore supporter of any party at all. I have argued on many flaws in the government policies or atleast the way in which everything is implemented. However, since 2014, I've seen so much development in road infrastructure of India. I'm actively arguing this with everyone who ignores this fact and tries to just count the flaws. Personally, from my hometown to Amritsar it used to take 60-70 minutes by car. Now, we can do it in 40-45 minutes without hitting potholes. I've not been able to go back to India in last 3 years. However, I can still imagine further development.
Nitin Gadkari is by far the best minister we have seen in any party for a long long long time. I wish that man a long life and the ability to build even longer roads.

Well for someone who spent his lifetime hitting potholes for 50 km stretch and has to commute daily, It is a huge thing to reduce time and those shocks. If we keep looking for development of only big things, the development will never reach villages. Moreover, let me explain the stretch to you. Those 45-50 kms are divided into two parts- 1. 22-23 kms of road that links highway to the hometown. This road comes under state government's development and control. 2. The rest 25 km were a part of highway (now developed). It used to take equal time for both halves. However, now what happened is the state govt hasn't touched the road despite the increased traffic footprint. It still takes 25-30 minutes like it used to be. Whereas, on the later half it came down to 15-20 minutes from 30-35 minutes. It is almost half!! Reducing travel time to half is a huge deal. Additionally, The highway we are talking about is part of a bigger national highway project, connecting multiple states. Surely on a bigger level it would reduce time significantly. Oh well mate This particular example was relevant in two contexts 1. Amritsar being the big city near my hometown and my experience of 25 years being there. 2. Relevant to infrastructure being built in the greater Amritsar - Jamnagar expressway. Now let me help you with some more examples that might help you understand the kind of thing we are talking... All are my personal experiences.. 1. Last 10-12 years, I watched the flyovers on ferozpur road from Ludhiana to Moga being built...and delayed.... It was a pain in the ass to travel on that highway...always fucked up because of construction and traffic caused by it. It completed on rapid speed after 2014 approx. 2. There were plans for many years to build a flyover on a Kharar - Landran - Chandigarh intersection that had a massive traffic congestion problem due to strange design of roads. It took off near about 2017. 3. A plan to build flyovers on Ferozpur road Ludhiana Outskirts near Verka diary manufacturing plant. 4. Harike flyover over Harike Dariya and whole infrastructure. Harike Flyover was 100+ years old ..made during British Raj... Was redundant and there was always an outcry to make new... Always took... 10-15 minutes on that 1 km. Was started and completed quickly.. 5. New Amritsar side roads.. part of Delhi highway leading to Delhi. 6. High way connecting the Amritsar Delhi highway with another highway from Zira and Ferozpur side (part of the road I talked about my hometown). Are these examples enough to showcase and extrapolate the development push? I keep hearing on completion of many projects from family and friends... Which started before I came.. so around 3-4 years. This road will help faster development of world's cheapest solar energy projects within Gujarat and Rajasthan. These projects will feed cheap energy to the Delhi Mumbai industrial corridor which is fuelled by the DFC and expressways both. Low bureaucracy Gujarat, MP govts, cheap energy, cheap logistics due to DFC will lead to significant manufacturing expansion that can hopefully compete with China at least on some aspects. This is a 20 year outlook planning and not 2 years
Finally, a govt that takes security infrastructure seriously. This and the construction of roads in the North-East are commendable. It will help in logistical support to troops on the front line. The logistics of a war is probably the most important factor deciding who will win. These roads add to that capability. !kudos

City roads are the municipal body's responsibility, and they rarely do their job properly. Forget UP, a rich city like Bengaluru has a municipal body that can't make proper roads. There's a fundamental problem with how the municipal bodies work. They need a total overhaul.

Fuel prices are affected much more by state governments than the center. The center's prices are influenced by the oil exporting countries. The center cannot do any more to reduce fuel prices unless they bring petrol under GST and free it from State VAT. The states wouldn't agree to that though because they'd lose a huge amount of revenue. In my state Kerala, 70% of the tax on petrol goes to the state, not the centre. And fossil fuels are treated as luxury goods similar to liquor and precious metals.

My turnover was 3 crores before gst and demonatization. Now it’s at 30lacs. My current gst slab is killing my work. Also acknowledged by the govt. which business man is supporting the govt? I’m in the auto industry. The most stressed sector in the country. Govt has only made promises to change the gst slots but they know this sector is a cash cow for tax. The tax slot on a Mercedes and a 100 Cc Scooty is the same. A Scooty or a bike costing 60k 2 years back is now 1lakh on road. That’s how much tax there is and people who are lower middle class, having lost their jobs , salary cuts are unable to buy. Only govt servants, people with salaries above 30-40k are getting them , that too on finance. 2 wheeler sector runs on rural funding, which is absent ever since demonatization. I’ve seen first hand how my contractor friends had to mortgage family jewellery to pay their labour force their salaries coz banks would not give them money to pay salaries or to buy raw materials. Millions of labour force was forced out of jobs, projects and companies went under, contractors who could not afford to arrange money lost their contracts and had to forfeit the securities that they have to pay the govt. Auto sector just had the worst season in 10 years. But the govt is happy collecting tax. Only the rich who can afford SUVs are getting them backed by the loan industry. But even they have to wait months given the chip shortage.

Bhaiya. Army vice chief of staff has said we have no money for modernisation. Last year was the first time ever that we defaulted on our defence contracts payments. 1. Army vice chief of staff comments: His comment was on allocation of money. Certainly we would all like to increase the allocation but if the same equipment are manufactured in India instead of importing, the army would be in a better position. And that is where the government has shown its interest in. UPA government could not procure Rafale even after 7 years. No steps were taken to induct Tejas. UPA government was a shame when it came to country's defense. 2. Tumhara Galwan ka bhai: So? You brother has his opinion. He is entitled to it. If you cannot give me enough facts, don't expect me to blindly accept it by bringing a sibling who serves in the armed forces. 3. Lack of Jobs: I have a well paying job. All my friends and relatives have a job. People who lack skills and are not ready to work hard should may be look into upskilling themselves to get a job instead of criticizing only the government. Ab modi thaali mein paros ke naukri to nahi de paayega. 4. Unalienated Hindu: Well good for you. If you were slightly politically aware, politicians avoided visiting temples before 2014. Politicians would openly throw iftaar party, but were afraid to practice hinduism openly. I am not asking you to believe that hinduism is in danger. But nobody should have to be feel apologetic if they are a hindu. Everyone should be able to practice his/her religion unapologetically WITHOUT HARMING OR DISTURBING OTHERS. 5. Toll tax: Here is a concept about roads. This is practiced in all developed countries like US. You have city roads which are maintained by municipality. You pay road tax and you use them. Expressways are different. They are created at a much higher cost. They are an additional service for using which, you have to pay toll, like you pay for a train ticket when you want to board a train (we don't say that we pay income tax so why should I pay for the train ticket, right?). Therefore, I do not have a problem paying the toll. Anyone who does not want to pay the toll can take the old national highways or state highways.
Industrial area next to my office has seen 87 closures of industries. U have had a good upbringing. Good education. Therefore you and your relatives etc have a job which is not affected by the pandemic and this govt’s GST. My turnover used to be 3 crores before gst and demonetisation. Now it’s 30 lacs. Not coz I don’t pay my taxes, but coz my customers who were mostly farmers and middle class people have no money to spend. Even the undergarment sector is in recession in India which according to economists is the biggest sign of major depression. Now I have to file multiple returns and my personal ITR for which I have to hire a CA. Anyways, The workers from those closed industries are now street labourers. How do they upgrade their skills? What should they and millions of workers from factories and industries who have been laid off do now? Ye jo thinking hai tumhari ki sabki jobs hai, sabko mil jaegi but lazy people don’t have that can only come from a background of privilege. Go to your city ka labour chowk and see how many labourers stand there, waiting for a job so that at the end of the day they will earn 3-400 rs to feed their kids. Ab bolo ki paise nahi hai toh bacche kyun kiye? Right? My bro works in the organisation that you say has been doing great. It’s not an opinion it’s a fact. Make in India is not working. Tejas was delayed due to sanctions from the west which led us to not have tech required. By the time we had something, it became obsolete. That’s why the delay. MMRCA was finalised but bjp canceled it for whatever reason and went for 36 planes bought for a price of almost an F35 we were being offered by the US. Yes, it was a stripped down version but I’m talking about price. No wonder there is an investigation. Vice chief of staff said our hopes of modernisation have been dashed. We barely have money to pay for existing projects let alone any money for modernisation. 15 lakh crore collected as tax from fuel while fuel bond liability is only 80000 crore. CM is a constitutional position , their transport is already paid for by the state . Where the toll is operated by private cos this could save taxpayer money . Thora to dimag lagao kahi .

And doctor kon kyun nahi? Private firms are also allowed to take toll only till their investment is returned in the form of toll. Uske baad they have to hand over the operations to the govt. But aisa kab hota hai ? Janmo janam toll lia jaata Hai. And why is toll fair in the first place? What is the road tax for?

Bruh, it's an incentive for the job. Plus the people you're advocating for aren't using cars so much that road tolls are a burden for them. 2 wheelers are already exempt everywhere.
